This large Portland stone monument is situated on the former site of Liverpool Castle at Derby Square. It features 26 bronze sculptures, each with special significance, including four to agricultural, commerce, industry and education. The Queen herself is the 4 and a half metre centrepiece to the impressive structure. The monument was unveiled in 1906 and is Grade II listed.

The monument stands out from it's surroundings, it's said that's where the Liverpool castle stood, great place to meet up, plenty of stairs to sit on and gather your thoughts , seen quite a lot of tourists getting their pictures taken in the short time I was there, lots of this area was devistated during the war fortunately this is still standing,

The statue is a good place to take memorable captures during your Liverpool visit. People use to sit and get together here. The monument has been built over the former site of Liverpool castle. The statue has a long presence, but with the unflattering figure of the queen. 8 min walk from queen square bus station, 7 min walk from Liverpool one bus station, 1 min walk from James Street train station. The cleanliness of the area is taken care of regularly. Now it is the time to take care of the cleanliness of the statues.

Large monument honouring Queen Victoria. A striking piece with a a set of steps leading you up to the statue. Just a shame about the dirt, grime and sheer amount of graffiti.

Good place to sit and relax. Not really on the praising side of the monarch but good that city has preserved it. Would be much better if they had written some dark past along side as well.

Site of the original castle of Liverpool which was built in 1235 and lasted into the 1700s. Prominent statue of Queen Victoria under whom Liverpool rose to prominence . Has a very rude side if you look at her from the side looking at Victoria's left hand side you see a surprising appendage !

Beautiful place to relax in the city, it's a shame it's not looked after as well as it should be, the statue itself is amazing and seems to attract a lot of tourists wanting to take photos with it.

An impressive statue with some interesting features. This is a neat site to see when exploring Liverpool and I stumbled across it without meaning to.

Impressive monument on the site of the former site of Liverpool Castle. Built between 1902 and 1906. Features 26 bronze figures with those around the pedestal representing agriculture, commerce, industry and education. Those on top of the columns represent justice, wisdom, charity and peace.

So much history related to the Victorian age ,language, education ,fashion and religious beliefs. The monument itself is a symbol of motherhood ,power and feminism. The location in front of the Queen Elizabeth Courts is a duo of royalty.Every photo you take there is a memorable one .

Not sure why the Queen Victoria monument was placed in Derby Square or the other statues. They do look kind of spooky but not as nice than the ones in St John's Gardens.
