I feel grateful for having this lovely Victorian park within walking distance of home. I've especially appreciated it during the lockdown, when I can go & walk amongst the trees & listen to the birds singing. I know the park isn't like it was in its heyday but I'm just thankful for the space it offers.

Super well kept, unfortunately some unruly children who should be in jail not in the park so hopefully police monitor it better. There are tons of fights here as well. I do have to say the grounds are kept up very nice though. Also if your not there too late you usually wont run in to hoodlums causing problems.

I'm living in this area over 2.5 years. I'm doing the cancer research found walk (otherwise I used to drive everywhere) and found this park. Really nice, clean! The houses around are also beautiful like in San Francisco 🙂 Not much advertised about this little gem. Those who are living in the Bootle area, worth a visit. It is winter now, but definitely going to visit in spring or summer... Lots of dog walks, they're looking after their pets. Nice friendly people around - mostly mature citizens.

Discovered this beautiful and majestic Park a few years ago, purely by being redirected by roadworks. For once I was glad of the diversion!! It is a superb example of historic planning and attention to detail. Added with brilliant play areas for children of differing age groups and enclosed multi sports pitches. Only misses out by lack of little cafe and toilets but pack a picnic and can enjoy a free and brilliant family day out with kids, or just walk around observing the memorials and history of a stunning park!

It's a nice big Park with a lot of character and history too. Ideal place to walk your dog in safety with loads of responsible dog owners who say Hi. It has an old style bandstand, playground for the kids, even a small footy pitch. Loads of grey squirrels too.

Beautiful victorian park with children's play area, basketball courts, bowels club, very stunning mature grounds, even has original band stand. Lovingly maintained by local volunteers.

A well maintained park with a play area for young children. A pleasant, peaceful place where local residents often stroll or walk the dog. When it first opened it had a lake and much used bandstand. Eventually the lake was drained and turned into a playing field but the elegant bandstand has been retained. It's been well maintained through the winter months with the assistance of volunteer workers.

This park is a superb park. We drive over from Kirkby to bring the dogs. Shame that the council basically leave it to the volunteers (who are so friendly and hardworking).

Great Park. Plenty to do for the kids. There is a weekly junior park run here now too, every Sunday morning.

Beautiful, large, well maintained park. Best in Bootle, by far.

Lovely park for the kids! Only downfall is the amount of off-lead dogs running around. A little girl got knocked over by an off-lead dog on Sunday. Maybe there should be an enclosed dog area where they can run free without the worry of a child getting hurt. The playground is lovely, and the trees and plants are beautiful, and attractive to wildlife, which is nice to see. The park keepers obviously work hard and have pride in their jobs.

Lovely park, with many winding paths, volunteers try hard to keep the planting colourful and interesting. The gated play area also has an obstacle course and big areas of grass for ball games. The gated play area also doesn't allow dogs in which would keep it clean and safe for children if everybody observed this rule, which unfortunately some don't 😔.

It is a good little park for the kids to play, it is clean and tidy, and nice walk around with kids nice in the autumn wellies on crunch of the leaves. I’ve never had a issues when I’ve gone with my kids. You may see the odd group of younger kids teenagers but never been any trouble guess just looking for a sit of as not much for them to do in the area..

It's a lovely park. Bring some nuts and feed the squirrels. If your patient enough they will eat out of your hand. The park is clean and well kept.

Lovely little walk with a 1 & 7 year old. The 7 year old enjoyed reading the plaques to the status and the park was great. Lots of friendly locals and was lovely to see volunteers cleaning and tidying to keep it looking nice. Only downfall was no loos, 7 year old was busting for a pee.
