I have passed this woodland many times and wondered whether it was worth a visit. Today I thought I would. There isn't any parking specifically for the wood, so I parked at the entrance to the public footpath that leads to Arrowe Brook Road. After crossing the road I entered the wood and immediately noticed a smell of sewage. Whether there are drains discharging into the Brook or whether it was just stagnant water, it wasn't a pleasant start. The wood itself is quite pleasant, quiet and peaceful, just the burbling of the stream as it meandered along. The wood is not that large and at it's end is a kissing gate that connects to a public footpath, Thingwall to Thurstaston. The walk through the wood and back only took 30 minutes so I suppose it's OK.

A lovely suprise to find this wood. Our spaniel had a nasty shock falling in the stagnant pond and had to be hauled out. Otherwise its really nice

It looks very nice, but it is also very small, not the place I would choose for a walk next time, since I like longer walks

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Heswall Dales was such an unexpected pleasure to discover - I've lived on the Wirral all my life, and hadn't ever been here. Hut there's so much more to see than I'd expected! It's got a lot of biodiversity, wooded parts, heather, a stream, dips, hills, and excellent views of Moel Famau, a lot of t...

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Great little nature trail perfect for younger kids who don't like walking too far. There's a lot of bumps and uneven ground so wouldn't say it suitable for prams. Links up with Heswall Dales if you want to go further but a nice 15-20 mins in nature is sometimes all you can fit in! Great views over t...
