This is a beautiful place for a day out. After being stuck indoors for a few weeks, I was able to completely recharge my batteries here. The facilities including the cafe and shop were a nice addition too. Managed to buy a nice picnic to eat by the pond and left with a very tasty lemon meringue pie from the shop. And other tasty treats. The gardens themselves are beautiful and mature. The Japanese garden is particularly beautiful, as are the insanely pretty displays of azalea and rhododendron when we went end May. I also loved the kitchen garden in the walled garden - lots of inspiration for my own garden back home. Highly recommend a visit here.

Stopped off on way home from Scotland holiday. Really lovely place. Excellent gardens and views. Very clean. NT members still have to pay £9 to park so a bit disappointed with this, but overall experience was good.

Fantastic day out for a walk and a great day exploring for the kids loads of activities to do. there is a very large play area for the kids which is really good Staff really friendly and helpful in the cafe only downside was the price of the food etc bare in mind you have to pay to park £8 then for a family £18 plus to enter the garden then you find it's £4.95 for a bacon butty?? Why does an amazing place as this have high price. after reading reviews on the place people was put off by the price to enter and the cafe but apart from that it is a really good day out id suggest you take a pack lunch with you rather than pay the fees in the cafe

I’ve decided to post my review on my first ever visit to Tatton Park in Cheshire. What an amazing place. I’ve been wanting to visit this place for a number of years, but it always eluded me. Life getting in the way I guess. Anyway, after a pleasant train journey from Liverpool, the walk to the park once I arrived didn’t take that long and I soon found myself at the Knutsford entrance to the park (photo included). I had been wanting to visit the Japanese garden here to, I thought I’d have enough time to do both. Wrong. The park is huge and when you have a backpack full of camera equipment and too many beautiful opportunities for photos, time just gets away from you. With seeing everything for the first time, I was blown away by the amazing views. I’d been blessed with good weather too, so all in all a great day. Upon arriving at the main entrance, I spotted signs that told me not to get too close to the free roaming deer as it was rutting season. The park had plenty of seating around the place, so always an opportunity to sit down if it was needed. The park seemed great for walkers of all ages and abilities. The Stags and other deer didn’t disappoint. The Stags calls could be heard around the park wherever you were. Such majestic animals, but definitely common sense approach is needed. Bring a zoom lens rather than a mobile phone if you want to get a close up. You definitely don’t want to be on the bad side of a Stag or the park owners for not being responsible. Definitely a place I will visit again in the near future.

The best parks I’ve been to! Definitely recommend this place. The best time to go would be for 10 as the place is very big and you’d want to check out all the places there. The farm was a nice touch, some of the animals like the chickens and birds would be roaming around. Beautiful place to have a picnic and the Japanese gardens was amazing!

Definitely worth a visit even on a wet miserable day in October, the staff were extremely friendly and knowledge inside the house there is so much to see, so much wealth but possibly not as grand as some other houses but the upstairs rooms show just how comfortable life was, in complete contrast downstairs, visiting the servants areas, with kitchen, food preparation areas and many other working rooms Once outside the house there are extensive gardens and grounds with plenty of areas for picnics etc, small shop selling quality groceries.

One of the best parks for a day trip from Manchester, I’ve been here a few times and it’s always a nice day out. They just opened a new bookstore that is volunteer led with amazing books inside. The entry fee if you’re driving isn’t crazy, it’s £6.50, however the entry to the mansion could be a bit pricey. I went for the Christmas Wonderland exhibition and it was worth paying £14 entry, it was excellent and very creative. There’s also a nice tea room, but needs booking if you’re going, and there’s the barn with the canteen that has plenty of options for lunch and drinks. The grounds are really exciting for a walk as well, and my favourite is the deer! So beautiful.

Nice walk with pram friendly path down the main road. Keep dogs on leads as there are sheep aplenty and wandering deer. A couple of routes you could take, with the crowds or away from them in the woodland. This place does get very busy and parking is chargeable at 9.50 in the high season. Places to eat and drink neat the entrance with toilets, again this gets very busy. It's worth a visit if you fancy a steady, easy walk and are lucky enough to see the deer.

Tatton Park is located in Knutsford of Cheshire, North West of England. It is approximately 0.6 mile from Knutsford Railway Station. There is free entry to the park while some of the attractions like mansion, gardens and farm required admission ticket. A lot of visitors go there for a walk, cycling and walking the dog. The scenery is good. When we went there, the weather was not good. Otherwise, it's not difficult to take a postcard like picture. It is suggested that more direction signs will be placed in the park.

Absolutely stunning gardens and grounds, and the mansion House is a great place to look around. There is only one eating place with a limited menu, picnic is the way to go especially if you have kids, and 1 lot of toilets in the courtyard so don't get caught short when exploring the grounds,. Well worth a visit as prices are good and national trust members go free, just pay for the parking, Enjoy 💐

Beautiful Park, really worth to spend all day as entrance fee is £8 per car 🙂 loads of walking spaces roads and paths, can either walk, cycle or drive around in the car, good place to do picnic. You can park car in different areas of the park so it makes easy to access some places without making long walks ☺️ it will take minimum 3-5 hours just to walk around so make sure you have some snacks in your bag 🥪😉 well wort it, not mentioned beautiful gardens (shame is additional charge if you want to see it). Only negative side that planes passing thru every 5 min from Manchester Airport, such a peaceful place and such a big distraction in the same time ....

I visited Tatton Park today and it was a great place. The gardens were immaculate and mature, especially the Chinese garden. The food at the cafe was very nice but quite expensive. I would definitely go back and visit the Mansion next time too. It's a great day out for all ages 5*

A friend and I went for a day out. We explored around the lake and extensive park and gardens. Loved seeing the deer wandering freely. Walked 20,000 steps and we didn't see everything! Would love to go back again soon.

A lovely park, the main grounds are free to enter on foot or cycle, though it’s £8 per car or horse (£4 for blue badge holders) :) The park has a very classic feel to it with mature trees, mosses, and deer 🦌 🦌 🦌

Loved our visit. Pay to visit the gardens at £5 per person its worth every penny. Lots to see and nice cafe and outdoor seating. If your on a budget take a packed lunch works just as well. Japanese gardens seem quite closed off but you can see most of it. Interesting place and the veg and fruit plots are amazing.

Beautiful place to visit although quite pricey... £8 to park 1 car, £8 per adult of you want to go into the gardens. Lovely if you like the outdoors, the gardens to be fair were amazing and huge, I would pay to enter again. Deer all over the property and plenty of parking options once inside.

A fascinating stately home now a national Trust property. Externally quite plain, almost ugly in my opinion but inside it's a gem of a place. Knowledgeable staff make the experience all the better. Highly recommended. Don't miss the deer park, well worth an explore.,but please don't approach the deer, they're not pets, and keep any dogs on a leash.

Wonderful day away from town. Best place for family, couples or groups. Good facilities and plenty of spaces where to relax, hike, and enjoy the beautiful nature. 1h before the closing time, they will loudly remind you when they gates are closing, so don’t worry if you are falling asleep somewhere 🤣 I will definitely be back soon

Very impressive and excellent park! It’s within walking distance from the Knutsford city centre. Would recommend plan for a day to chill out here. Park in the city centre and have a nice breakfast/lunch and go for a walk around the lake. It’s free of charge for walkers and cyclist. Good day!

Picturesque National Trust property with lots to see and do. An abundance of open air green spaces, dog walks and views of the deer. There's lakes , a cafe and a gift shop. Not to mention a farm and the actual house which you can visit. So there's plenty for everyone. If you like aeroplanes, they fly quite low overhead too as Manchester Airport is in the distance. A lovely place with events in abundance too!

Phenomenal location. Me and my girlfriend came here for a picnic and photography date. £9.50 to enter, then £8 for the gardens. Perfect, affordable date day and Unforgettable anytime soon! Beautiful photos, gorgeous day, stunning and cared for gardens and a lovely walk in the sun! Highly recommended, with the obligatory ice cream! Must have!

Really nice national trust park. Has a Cafe and lots of fresh farm produce shops available. Also has a farm and garden but I think they cost extra. Lots of wildlife to be seen along the trails. Only complaint is a lot of the trails are shared with cars and due to the location you often hear planes flying very low.

I’m town early for business and spent the afternoon here. It’s only about a 20 minute cab ride from Manchester Airport. I had a lovely time exploring the mansion and the grounds. I definitely recommend a full day here, I was only able to see a portion of the gardens! I booked in an afternoon tea at the Gardner’s cottage and it was amazing. Tea needs to be pre-booked but they do not accept U.S. phone numbers online. Just call the cottage and they can help you out. The staff was the best! They went above and beyond to help me sort a taxi. The food was so great and the tea was phenomenal. Definitely recommend and excited to come again.

As a National Trust member I just had to visit Tatton Park and as a bonus there was a Classic Car Show on within the grounds. Great facilities for families with areas for kids to romp and play. The gardens were excellently presented and the Mansion was NT at its best. Would have got 5 Stars but the top floor of the Mansion was closed and had to pay £8 for the carpark (1st NT venue that I can recall has member parking fees).

The stately home was closed only visit and given the time of year the maintenance schedule was light. Still the different colours of brown green and yellow was breathtakingly beautiful. The outside of the house was very imposing with it's Greek columns and architecture. The Japanese gardens even in winter with it's many varieties of Acer trees 🌳 😳 was a sight to behold. The water and small lake gave the visitor a chance to reflect and take in the grandeur of the park. I tried in the photos to give a flavour of the experience. Worth a trip anytime of the year. Recommended.

Superb park and mansion to visit. Beautiful gardens, impeccably maintained and a delight to walk around. The fauna is a delight to see and they also have a large glass house with tropical plants. The home grown fruit and veg are set beautiful in neat rows, on standards, against walls and trained on trellis borders. It's encouragement for all visitors to do likewise and help the planet. The house is also a delight, well set up and sharing the history of the Aristocracy of the day. Plenty of reference to parts of Manchester and the North West with this family who owned lots of land, hence the ability to travel the world and live the high life. If there were more references to how they may have helped those in poverty around the world it would make for a more encouraging view that humanity is heading in the right direction. Volunteers were super helpful and polite as is almost customary at NT sites.

A wonderful day out and escape the city! The garden was picturesque and the Japanese garden was stunning! The mansion was huge and informative, and the staff was very friendly and professional, the new servants' exhibition is a bonus and I would like to come back in autumn to see different views in the garden!

Gorgeous park with lots of deer and choices of directions to walk in so it's good for multiple visits. Also has a cute cottage style cafe with fab tasting sandwiches and hot drinks. There's a cute shop with all kinds of treats from preserves to alcohol. Parking was also well organised and easy to navigate.

"We recently had the pleasure of visiting Tatton Park in Knutsford, and it truly exceeded our expectations. This expansive garden spans nearly 50 acres, surrounded by a picturesque blend of small jungles and serene waterways. The diversity of bird species here is remarkable, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. One of the highlights was encountering a White Sambar Deer, a rare sighting indeed! The park is also home to thriving herds of sheep and deer, adding to the enchanting experience. Families with kids will love the dedicated play area, and the park's popularity as a wedding venue is well-deserved. Tatton Park has a rich history, dating back to the 18th century. Originally, it served as a stately home for the Egerton family. The estate boasts magnificent architecture and stunning gardens, a testament to its grandeur through the ages. For National Trust members, there's an exclusive access to the hall park, complete with a maze for kids and families. Don't miss out on a visit to the Stable Restaurant for a delightful meal, and there's even a charming bookshop to explore. The entrance fee of £9.50 per vehicle is incredibly reasonable given the sheer beauty and diversity Tatton Park offers. It's an absolute must-visit for nature enthusiasts, history buffs, and families alike. We can't wait to return!"

Nice and quiet to explore the grounds, especially liked the Japanese garden. Check website for various events on over the summer. Parking paid on the way in. Nice park and picnic area, all set up for Dog fest this weekend.

This place is really kept and tidy park... with plenty of space to walk, take kids to playground or just to chill on grass (especially on sunny, hot day). It also holds big events. I went to car show event and I have say everything about the event was spot on, well organised and run place... with staff walk round constantly keep place tidy... the car event it self had everything from stalls, loads cars on show, band, alcohol bars, plenty ice cream vans aswell as bins and portable toilets around... all the stores take cash mainly.... atmosphere was best I have experienced for big event... just to add if you catch weather on really hot weekend like we did... it makes experience so much better. There is charge for entry with cars £8 Nation park staff come round and tell you about half hour before it shuts. I'd recommend this place for events or just walk round or to take kids.

Lovely place, and fantastic gardens and Manor house. Parking per car is not too pricey compared to some national trust parks. There are plenty of refreshments available in the little courtyard near the gardens and a really nice shop selling jams and chutneys etc made from produce in the gardens. There is a farm there but we didn't visit that as it is more suited for children. It can get busy when there are other events on so checking ahead is an advantage.

A cherished National Trust park in the heart of Manchester. A well preserved Manson, garden, farm and tranquil lakes await you in this park. Probably need a day to explore the place in full depth. The place is kid friendly and offers a few rides as well. Keep in mind that the park is spread across acres of land, so come prepared for the weather. Vegan options are available at the eatery.

  • 3/5 Usman S. 8 months ago on Google
Good place for day out for adults but not great for families with kids who like to go on walking trails. Navigation is not clear; The trails are not clearly marked so you have to struggle to find the starting point and then keep watching out to follow the right path. Play area has basically only 4 activities repeated over a spacious area. Costly rides 3£/child. Overall not bad for 8£ charge/car.

  • 3/5 john b. 8 months ago on Google
The house within the park is beautiful and free if you are a national trust member but the park is currently £9.50 per car to enter and the farm is £8 per adult to visit. It's a great day out but works out expensive for a family.

Large NT property with house & gardens also with an extensive park to roam in. Large courtyard with café, gardeen shop, gift shop, etc. seating inside & out & reasonably priced meals. You could spend all day here. The only downsides (hence only four stars) were that the house doesn't open until 1pm (we missed an internal walk around as we had to leave) & the parking is £9.50 whether you're a member or not.

A place to spend a sunny day. We visited the Gardens OMG beautiful apples trees moulded as a fences, roses, kitchen herbs loved it!!! It's so big we can take our cycles especially if you are training with younger kids. Other star things it provided is separate DOG shelter and washing up places...

Extensive estate dominated by a majestic neoclassical mansion and gardens of different feature. Along the visitor path, inside the mansion you can see much of the furniture made for its occupants, a large collection of paintings and portraits of the Egerton family and an impressive library. Pretty interesting the servants' quarters with rooms containing much of the equipment and many of the utensils used to serve the family. The collection is well maintained and the function of every room is briefly and clearly explained by short laminated papers available to visitors in every room. Guardians along the rooms and other staff members, gave always a professional and courteous impression. Gardens are beautiful but, unfortunately, the Japanese one is not directly accessible, due to conservation reasons I guess. Plenty of cafe, restaurant, shop to spend the rest of the day in a nice, relaxing setting. Ample parking. Price is not on the cheap side: 8 £ only to enter the estate and park your car, 8 £ for the mansion are ok. Gardens and farm don't worth the additional 8£. Mind If you buy the combined ticket that allow you to visit the different sites in one year time: If you don't manage to rush through all of them in a single visit, you can return, yes, but at the charge of further 8£ just for parking.

Stunning grounds, plenty of space to walk, even on busier days there's space to feel secluded. Reasonable price to get on to the site (£8). Lovely shops, cafe etc and decent facilities. The only shame is that some people seem to see the roads as a racetrack, but that's more a reflection on the individuals than the park.

You can spend a whole day their to do and see a fantastic sceneries and walk for miles in amazing environments. You can stop to eat to shop to rest to visit great gardens like the Italian one which has a statue brought from Venice in a middle of a fountain and sounded by lovely landscape. Then you have the Japanese gardens that was established more than 100 years ago and constructed by Japanese craft men brought from Japan with all the original materials for it. It is good at the end of you visit to buy all local produced food and a wide range of good product then you can keep it in the fridge to stay fresh for your use

Great gardens. The Japanese garden is a total little gem (hadnt done any reading about the garden before we visited). Lots of information about the Japanese garden inside the Manor house. It was a bit rainy so we didn't do much of the parkland or the farm. Just a word of Caution! Everyone needs to pay for parking even national trust members.

First time there a week ago. Lovely spot for a walk, spent a good three hours walking around, woodland and grassland. Nice little shop too. We, two adults and little dog, couldn't go into the garden or house because of the dog. The £8 parking charge is not palatable, given we're both members; that and the anti-dog stance in the garden are the only negative aspects of our visit.

A lovely place to go for a day out. Lots to see and do for all the family. The grounds are well kept with a lovely cafe. If you are a National Trust member you can enter some of the grounds for free but not all. The farm was a favourite for us, visiting and petting the animals and seeing little piglets 🐷

Tatton Park is vast and well worth a visit! It is one of my favourite National Trust properties. For those unable to visit themselves I have done full video tours available via my website kerriraystravels dot com :)
