Booked the hotel as a treat for my Mum. The hotel room was dark with a small window that didn't open...air conditioning very poor. Half way through our stay we had the sum of 130 pounds stolen from our room, while we enjoyed our breakfast. I had counted the money before we left for breakfast.. But had forgotten to put it in my purse, as we were late for breakfast. In the time we had breakfast the money was taken. I informed the manager who checked the door and was told the cleaner had been in... She had not cleaned the room and just left.... It was obvious this woman had taken my money.. It was my word against hers... And yes I should have put it in the safe.. It was an over sight. Anyone planning a trip beware, and always use the safe. I won't be back

Location was great for what I needed, my room was amazing bed so comfy, staff very welcoming and helpful. Only 2 minor issues no parking at the hotel this is an extra cost but there is a secure parking facility right next door. Also house keeping had been in which obviously I don't indeed however they had used the toilet while in there and not flushed ( I did pass this on, ony checking out). Would I return yes absolutely.

Really enjoyed staying at this dockside hotel. The room was well-appointment and sound-insulated; so no disturbance from the wedding reception party that was taking place. Liked the very large bed and the bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. All staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the breakfast staff who went above-and-beyond to seat our group together. Highly recommended.

Decently priced hotel in a prime waterfront location only a short walk from the docks and other attractions. A bit further to city centre or a short taxi ride. Better value for what you get than the nearest Premier Inn. Drinks expensive and only a small bar but plenty of choice for food & drink away from the hotel. Restaurant undergoing a move/refurbishment currently (Feb 23) but limited food offering in bar/brasserie still. Would definitely use again.

After a 7 hour journey to get here, we are booked into Room 510 and hoping for a relaxing & restful couple of hours before heading out tonight. Unfortunately, maintenance going on right outside our door …. sawing, hammering & hoovering for over one hour so far. Far from impressed. Surely in such a big hotel they could have offered us a room where NO maintenance going on right outside the door.

Never had a bad stay here, friendly staff and really nice rooms for a fair price too! There’s nice food and breakfast within the hotel and even the cheapest rooms feel high quality and luxurious, especially with the view of the dock. I’ll definitely be back.

Lovely hotel enjoyed my stay for 2nights, close to the Albert dock and city centre, lovely complimentary services, clean and cozy room, neat bathtub. Will definitely stay there again if need be. Worth the while

We booked a twin room and were given a double. Told that they wouldn't be able to bring in another roll-away bed until the next day, and meanwhile no additional rooms available... We later went to eat (8 people) and told that the kitchen closes at 9pm and we were 10 minutes too late. Bar also told us that we were too late. We told them that we would go elsewhere and they didn't care about the lost custom. Later discovered that the room service menu is identical to the bar menu, so no idea why they were being so useless and turning away customers...

Very clean hotel and the staff are really nice and engaging, I liked how when we were sat in the bar they'd come and talk to you and make suggestions on places to go. The rooms are tidy and the bathrooms are very nice and clean. Breakfast was excellent, didn't have any other meals though. The views of the docks are nice, just not sure it quite justifies the £277 a night price tag though. Overall a very nice stay, mainly thanks to the staff

Lovely hotel. Very modern and clean. Lovely rooms. Very close to Liverpool centre, about 5-8 mins walk. Views over the docks and great bar restaurant too!

I booked this stay for my husbands birthday 🎂 The staff were very friendly and polite. The room was nice, with a graffiti style feature wall. Lovely big bath too as well as a shower with decent toiletries. I'd asked beforehand when booking if we could have a quiet room as I struggle sleeping. Although our room was on the sixth floor you could still hear the rumble of traffic and glass bottles being emptied early in the morning. Also our view was onto the very busy road and the side of another hotel.

A great visit again, we are regular Aintree goers and always stay here. Bar refitted and much improved space , light etc a better buzz in the evenings here as a result. Rooms are well kitted out and I know they are dark but that's the theme.... Staff are the USP here, Jordan and a young crew (same as last year) run the hotel excellently prompt service always and with good humor whilst upholding very high standards so kudos to all the staff. The Irish crew will be back again well done all at the Malmaison, nice touch to rem the 97 on check out day also.....

Very cozy room and comfy bed, and plenty of light coming in naturally as well as dim lights to make for a more comfortable morning or evening in. All of the bathroom facilities were perfect, and I especially praise providing female sanitary products being provided for guests. The wallpaper left something to be desired, but considering the rest of the room I can hardly knock it a star down! Would definitely come here again!

I recently visited Mal to host a meeting for my customers and colleagues and can highly recommend Amy, Rebecca and Edel in the events team. The standard of service is second to none and nothing was too much trouble. The meeting rooms are beautiful and well equipped with the latest technology. The buffet was outstanding and great value for money. Highly recommended

The highlight of our stay was the restaurant, their food and the staff. Delicious choices. Everything we ordered was excellent. And the wait staff was knowledgeable, attentive and warm, even when it got busy. The room gave luxury vibes but had some weird design choices that made it less functional. Still, nice for a overnight staycation.

  • 2/5 Nathan K. 10 months ago on Google
Not a great location, essentially on an industrial estate. Room was mediocre with a shower that would not drain correctly and threatened to flood the entire place. Breakfast was a long wait both to be seated (not helped my 2 people being sat before me for no apparent reason) and to order which resulted in me having to leave without eating. Would not recommend and will not return.

My toilet flush did not work - even after supposedly being fixed - big downer. Breakfast and service is great. Nearest ATMs are good walk and charge a huge fee (10%) on non-UK credit cards. Car park next door seems to have plenty space but is pricey (20 pounds overnight)

  • 5/5 Haseeb A. 8 months ago on Google
Nice pleasant stay. Good amenities and welcoming staff. Great breakfast but could be more self serve options Dark vibe hotel but should have the option to turn up the lights when needed.. Especially in the bathroom!

Fantastic location by Riverside. Room great however like most boutique hotels, lighting very poor in room despite all lights on. Noise insulation between rooms better than most. Complimentary coffees and teas of superrior quality. Staff courteous and attentive. Great value for money. Will probably make an effort to stay here again when next in area. Only minor downside is the car parking which is a multi storey next door which, although clean and secure, adds £20 odd to the visit.

Beautiful rooms, lovely view, cozy bed and just really nice atmosphere, had a drink at the bar and the bartender was lovely. Update Aug 2023 - Came back again to celebrate our anniversary, as we arrived at 3pm our room wasn't ready yet but because of this we were given complimentary cocktails while we wait which were stunning. Our room was very tidy and again the atmosphere of the bar downstairs was really nice and another very nice bartender and waiter. Always recommend people to stay here if they want a nice few days away.

Curate's Egg of a review here. The rooms are great, no complaints. Price is reasonable and the breakfast is very good. Staff are charming and helpful but the access is not easy, particularly during current (Jan '23) building work. Were I running the hotel I'd position a member of staff outside to meet taxis at the closest drop-off point. Reception is at the end of the bar and I find that a bit naff, as is the bar itself and its unappealing menu. We'd probably stay again were we cruising from Liverpool, which we won't be. The cruise terminal is a freezing-cold tent!

  • 2/5 Lola S. 7 months ago on Google
The hotel lobby and bar are very pleasing to the eye however… They were an hour and a half late to check in so they had us waiting around in the lobby. We were offered a free cocktail to pacify us. Our room smelt of sewage. I thought it was just our room but I checked my daughters other room next door and that stank too. The room wasn’t cleaned properly, dusty lamps, grubby bedside tables and questionable corners of the bathroom. To be honest the rooms need a deep clean and bathrooms need a good scrub and disinfectant. For over £200 a night I wasn’t impressed at all.

  • 3/5 Tim P. 5 months ago on Google
The room looked nice and the staff were friendly. The lighting in my room was quite dark, it could have done with better lighting. I'm giving a 3 star rating because I woke up at 6:30am to the gentle smell of sewage in my room, which presumably came up the gurgling shower drain. I wish I had shut the door to the bathroom. My colleague had a great stay, so I guess I got unlucky. I was only there for 1 night, so the hotel didn't have a chance to rectify the situation.

I ate in the restaurant here recently, and my experience was disappointing. Although the staff were friendly, the menu was overpriced for the quality of the food. I also wanted to pay with cash, but this was refused. There was no "card only" policy that was noticeable at the time, and I feel that customers should have a choice, particularly given the significant increase in cyber crime in recent years, meaning card payments are sometimes not possible. I can't comment on the hotel in general, but I would not recommend the restaurant.

If I could I would give this hotel a 10 million stars! I wouldn’t mind ticking all the stars over and over again! I got married on the 6th of January and wow the location was perfect! The rooms were clean! Like super clean! The food wow they have got definitely award winning chefs! The staff wow from the cleaners to the receptionist were all amazing!!! Special shout to Amy (the event coordinator/organiser), the receptionist that attended to me, the Mrs and my family on the 5th of January 2024 I believe Julia (she was so cheerful and welcoming like wow), Then on our wedding which was on the 6th of January 2024. James, Kat and Molly (don’t know if I got the names right). Please whoever is the general manager for this hotel should give every staff a massive raise!!! The cleaners too

Rooms were OK, but would expect a stocked fridge and a coffee machine at this price. Staff very friendly and helpful but one of our rooms wasn't ready when we arrived meaning my elderly relative had to sit around for over an hour when she desperately needed to get into her room for a rest. Food, drink and cocktails all good.

The Malmaison hotel chain has some beautiful properties and this one is no exception. You are greeted by a stunning fireplace upon entry. The food, drinks and service available here is exceptional. The staff have the right mix of being friendly but very professional. The standard rooms have everything you need ,but I recommend you pay extra for a riverside view, unless you like looking at carparks. I really enjoyed my stay here.

We stayed over Christmas for three nights and were blown away by the experience. Every member of staff looked after us like we were VIPs and we would recommend this hotel without hesitation. The rooms are beautifully appointed and well equipped. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and has a real sense of luxury about it. The highlight was Christmas Day lunch though. It really was outstanding and made very special by the hardworking team in the kitchen and front of house. Well done Mal Liverpool, you should be very proud of yourselves!

We love this hotel and visit often. We walk along the Riverside to Albert Dock which is just far enough and has lots to see. There is a car park next to the hotel which is quite expensive but so convenient. We generally upgrade to make sure of a river view but I'm not sure whether this is entirely necessary.

Pros: - Modern hotel - Good location - Restaurant food was quite good (dinner was actually tasty) Cons: -This hotel is all about finding every last way to get every pound from you. 30 min late check out? 15 GBP please.. umbrella? 2 GBP please.... Seriously? - Hotel room smelled like something dead was rotting, windows don't open - Your key card has to be programmed to enter the gym and the front desk isn't staffed appropriately to make this happen - Customer service and staff attitudes really hit a new low at this place, terrible customer service.

Great location, short walk to the main shopping area and docks Beautiful hotel, our room had a funny smell so they swapped us and gave us a drinks voucher which was great The food is AMAZING. breakfast is well worth it too, but the dinner was gorgeous Would stay here again when I next visit Liverpool!

Fairly chic rooms with mural/map wall covering, odd having the toilet in the shower (sort of). Was hopeful of the shower but big head means little pressure so you get showered but gently. Have stayed twice and both showers the same with almost no temp control. Breakfasts were excellent and the bar/reception area is very stylish and relaxing which don't always go together. Bar service was indifferent but on the whole, quite pleasant and will use again

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of September and had a brilliant stay! The rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, the public areas were modern and really striking and the dockside location was very cool and convenient. The food, drinks and atmosphere in the bar/restaurant was a definite highlight - we enjoyed cocktails and food both nights and couldn’t fault it! All staff members were professional, attentive, friendly and really added to the positive experience, especially Connor and Rebecca who looked after us in the bar/restaurant. Big thanks and looking forward to returning next time we’re in the city!

Just back from a one night stay here. Asked for an early check in due to attending a wedding at 3.15, were told they would try to accommodate but couldn't guarantee. Totally understandable. Turned up at 2.30 and room was ready for us and what a beautiful room! Very clean and every amenity you could ask for. Nespresso, kettle, robes, slippers, a rainfall shower and a separate bath. Could stay here for a week! I had a shower after the wedding and again in the morning as it was so lovely. The shower in the evening took a bit of technical jiggling to get the temperature right but when it was right it was perfect. Staff were amazing at every turn and on check out held our bags for us so we could walk along the docks. We hardly heard a peep all night, a few doors banging in the morning but nothing else. Lovely views of the cruise ships in Dock in the morning 🤣 My only gripe, and honestly it was disappointing but minimal in the grand scheme, was the Black pudding at breakfast wasn't very nice and my poached eggs could have broken a window. Both rock hard yolks, not what you expect from a nice poached egg. But still cannot wait to stay again.

Great hotel with staff really prepared to do a bit extra. The tale of my list parking ticket, car key and jumper I hadn’t even noticed was still in the wardrobe was resolved happily and by wonderful staff. Location is great and the half board deal good value.

Room was a decent size, shower was awful- either burning hot or freezing. Toiletries are screwed to the wall now, which seems a bit mean when you used to get small sized containers you could take away. Cooked breakfast is quite a small portion for the price, choice of continental isn't the best. The chain isn't what it was, they used to talk about being different, I don't think they are anymore! Went away feeling a little disappointed.

Nice decor. Nice central location. But air conditioning in room broken whole time. Never fixed it and boiling hot in room. Room corridor stunk of cigarette smoke for 2 days. Heard multiple guests complaining over the 2 days. Stinking. Both our rooms stunk of sewage from drains. Moved our room but the replacement room went from a queen size bed to a double standard and it was way too small and was a downgrade so went back to the smelly room. A guest left a half empty beer pint glass sitting outside their door beside us for over 36 hours and not one member of staff lifted it so they either don't care, don't notice or don't have any staff anywhere doing anything. It was still there when we checked out this morning. Was bad enough having cigarette smoke, sewage and no air con but the fact they couldn't actually fix any of the 3 problems wasn't too impressive. Very dissapointed. Would have appreciated a gesture like partial room refund or discount off meal etc to show they actually care at all about these issues even if they cant fix them.Shame because it had the potential to get a 5 star review without these issues.

I stayed at the Liverpool Malmaison on 16 February 2022 for 1 night whilst in the area on business. Everything was great - location, the hotel itself, food, drink and friendly staff. Lukas in the Malmaison Bar is an absolute gem and could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. I look forward to returning.

Great stay. Really good location. Nice, clean modern bedroom. We had drinks on the terrace with lovely views of the dock and cruise ships. Amazing staff that can’t do enough to help. Really do recommend and will definitely be going back soon.

My room was of Malmaison’s usual high standard of cleanliness and I was particularly impressed by the ease and speed of check in by a very friendly and efficient member of staff. Facilities in the room were top quality and I thoroughly enjoyed the large selection of breakfast items including perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. I had the best night’s sleep and really felt relaxed. Will definitely be coming back when I can!

Excellent superb customer services all round. Disabled bathroom with chair Just want I needed for my restricted mobility. Delicious breakfast lots of healthy selections Seating area indoosr and outdoors just perfect for myself and my grand .child. Respite indeed. I had to use room service for an extra quilt and light snacks. Perfect for myself and my family. Short stay.

The only hotel in Liverpool to happily host the event I was planning. Effortless to deal with and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely use their function rooms for future events. Nothing negative to say. Fantastic all round!

The room was clean and the reception staff were great but I was told i couldn't checkin till 3pm but it was even later around 4pm. But the bathroom was sub standard. The taps on the sink were loose. The toilet wouldn't flush properly and the shower temperature was really tricky to set as the tap was loose. The breakfast was poor. I ordered the full English without a tomato, it came with a tomato, the sausage and black pudding was burnt to a crisp. Non of the waiting on staff came over to check if everything was OK. Not a great stay.

We came here for afternoon tea as part of a hen weekend. The decor and general atmosphere of the hotel was wonderful and had a nice view of the outside. We were running late but luckily the Malmaison team pushed our reservation back by 30 mins. Overall our party loved the tea, particularly the scone, burger and wrap which they changed to suit some of our dietary requirements. Staff were friendly and accomodating.

Beautifully designed hotel inside, and a great view from your room if you get the Mersey side. Bedrooms require key massive queen size bed with comfortable pillows could be a little bit more spacious. Bathroom stylish with Arran products which smelt absolutely incredible. Only downside is if a party is going on you will hear it until around midnight which ever floor you are on. Breakfast was good continental choice was great and everything with Covid safe.

Nice looking place right on the sea front walking distance from the city. I attended a wedding reception. The place provides a pleasant atmosphere although many of the staff appeared unprofessional and some f the bar staff was not friendly at all.

  • 5/5 Rachel D. 2 years ago on Google
Exceptional and friendly service, the room was gorgeous and generally the decor around the hotel was stunning and the atmosphere was buzzing and sophisticated in the bar! Very smooth espresso martini and old fashioned! Slept like a baby and the breakfast was delightful, great continental and hot selection! Perfect location for exploring Liverpool and so many restaurants close by in the docks! Would definitely book again and recommend!

  • 2/5 K 2 years ago on Google
Slow service, including a long time waiting for menus, for drinks, and for table clearance from the waitresses. Then the bill was incorrectly done at the end. The place was pretty empty too so wasn't due to a lunch rush. The food was nice in the end however, and the waiter was good and fixed the bill !

Needs a coat of paint perhaps. Nice friendly staff and great placement. No car park on site but secure multi storey next door so need to add this into the cost of the room. Good location for access to the centre of the city or the docks with good breakfast options in the Albert Dock area.

Very nice hotel. The rooms are great, breakfast was lovely and the bar is nice. Unfortunately parking is not included and quite expensive in the multi story next door. The location is a short walk from the center.

  • 5/5 Marc I. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely hotel as soon as you walk in your greeted with class and elegant decor. A huge fire pit in the centre gives that real warm welcome feel. The rooms are more than adequate wich boasts a real hot powerful shower toilet and huge bath tub. With plenty of room for 2 😎. The bar however is quite expensive £30 for 2 cocktails and 2 bottles of tiger beer. Breakfast is an option but at £18 per head ae chose to sample somewhere on the albert dock instead. Above all I'd highly recommend this hotel.

Came here for a wedding. Lively desk staff and room. Actual wedding wasn't brilliant - rude coordinator, room turn around for evening guest was 90 mins late so everybody had to cram into the bar downstairs with general guests which was far from ideal, evening food was cold by the time it was served. Would not recommend for a special occasion

Went for a private meal in one of the upstairs mezzanine rooms, and the food was delicious. At first I was worried the menu was too fancy, but everything I ordered was delicious. Kids really enjoyed their food - 'mini burgers' were defo normal sized. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. already looking at Christmas menu as had such a good experience.

We love malmaisons anyway, but this was an extra special visit. The room had a lovely view of the docks with a huge floor-to-ceiling length window to have morning coffee infront of. The bathroom was super sleek, especially the shower, and the entire building is done up in the coolest, quirkiest way. We decided to have breakfast there this morning which we haven't done before - best decision ever. Massive buffet of cold food to eat, plus hot food as well whenever you like 👌 a waitress called Beth was an absolute star, super happy and friendly, noticed how much I loved the yoghurt so she packed 2 up for me to take home! Such a lovely visit, cannot recommend it enough.

Efficient staff and welcoming. The hotel has a small restaurant and bar area, though to be fair it is difficult for them to compete with the restaurants on offer five minutes away on the Albert Dock. The food and drink we did consume here was good, well presented and good value. The room we had overlooked a dock basin and when in port you have great views of visiting cruise liners. Getting to the Albert dock is as simple as turning left out of the hotel door and walking a few minutes where you pass the Titanic memorial before standing outside the Liver Building. Top location. 15 minutes by cab from Lime Street station

Thanks so much for last night! We all had a great time and can’t appreciate how lovely your staff were last night. Rebekha, Nick, Nadia, Amy, Kelsy, Sean were so helpful. The venue was perfect and so was the live singer! Everyone loved the evening. Thank you to the staff that were on last night for their patience throughout the night with us! They were so good at communicating any issues that were soon sorted. Have a lovely Christmas, From the Physiotherapy Society

Beautiful cosy room with everything you need and some lovely extras. We had a nespresso machine in the room and even got complimentary chocolates. The rain shower is amazing and we were lucky to have a bath in our room also. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and again for breakfast the next morning. The food is wonderful and the service of all the staff is fantastic.
