Interesting hotel. Beside claustrophobic vibes in the room it was nice stay especially the creepy picture of cell mate that are on the wall in the room. Stayed there during winter in mid-December in 2019. Nice cold weather and amazing views to see in Liverpool. So it was nice to go back to warm room after.

Great little hotel. Quirky and central to all town facilities. Having said that it still was quiet at night. No traffic or noise at all. Rooms were immaculate and very clean. Bed very comfy. Staff werr warm.and welcoming. Loved the quirkiness of the building. Great place to stay. Fully recommended. Not one bad point to report.

Overall this was a great little hotel. Great find for a great price. £80 for two night stay - there was a £50 deposit but I was assured that would be released back to me after our stay It wasn't exactly luxury but it was everything we needed for a short city break. Really amazing building and quirky too Old Grade 2 listed, Victorian Prison, with an amazing courtyard (covered) and the decor is brilliant too. I would have given it 5 star based on the room, price and venue but we found that the room had a few parts that were rough around the edges (dusty bed side table when we arrived and a few chips in the plaster) - we did not complain to the hotel though as it was purely cosmetic and did not take away from our stay or this amazing building.

Disgusting! Very disappointed. 45 min waiting for reception. Room dirty, kettle filthy. Nail sticking up from floor. Toilet dirty. Tried to get refund but refused. Avoid.

Just home after a two night stay here. I couldn't praise the staff enough. So helpful and the place is just fantastic. Historical but not dark or overly themed. I will be returning and recommending to all my family and friends!

The room wasn't a cell at all even though we'd ring to check, it was in a cold noisy annexe, apart from the cells and old exercise yard there's hardly anything prison related here. Our bathroom radiator didn't work so we had damp towels all weekend, the noise from the street kept us awake til the early hours and someone had clearly blown their nose on the net curtain. No-one ever on reception to speak to and my complaint email has been completely ignored. This was the biggest waste of £269 I've ever spent and feel the whole place is a con. Thank God it was only two nights.

Just what we needed. Room for a couple of days. Defiantly a good idea to upgrade to a studio. Little more room and you can cook a little bit of breakfast. Love the fact it's,a converted prison and done very well.

Great location&nice room. It's unique and quirky, I loved the prison feels of the corridors. But the shower was too small and its sewer was a bit dirty. If you care about hygiene a lot this could bother you. Room was small but all the essentials were prepared so it was fine. Sound proofing was bad. You can here people in other rooms talking, and sometimes I heard noises from the pub outside. Still, location was just perfect, few minutes walk to the city centre&the dock. The cons could be ignored due to fab location& great price.

Room was very small but really clean and tidy, bathroom was great. Our room had a broken window which meant there was a cold breeze all night. The hotel is obviously set up for short stays and is a bit like university dorm rooms. No breakfast is provided, and I thought it was not very good value at £89 for one night. Amazing building, could have been done better as a hotel.

Great value for money. The rooms are snug, but quite cosy. Basic (as you can expect for such cheap prices) but modern, was very clean apart from a few cobwebs and hairs in the shower. Loved the free fitness centre and historic touches still left in the building. The staff could be more attentive and energetic.

Comfortable and clean room, friendly staff. Extremely convenient location - pretty much walking distance of all the main attractions and nightlife. Only shortcoming during our stay was that we were in a ground floor room facing the road so it was pretty noisy, but the other plus points make up for it. Other than that place is really value for money, and loved the fact that we were staying in a historical building too!

DO NOT STAY HERE FOR STUDENT ACCOMMODATION!!!!! While I got lucky and got the slightly bigger room with a nice bathroom, the sink was blocked upon arrival and has not been fixed 4 months later. The staff are basically non existent and they blatantly ignore emails or take days even weeks to respond at times. They did absolutely nothing to protect us against covid-19 despite me messaging them to say people in our flat had covid (they didnt even respond to my email) and people continued to party during the pandemic and staff did nothing to help. Bins and trash lying everywhere for weeks at a time and staff again do nothing despite having "notices" threatening to intervene if kitchens are messy - they have never intervened once. Gym was not open once and we still had to pay the full £5k despite having to go home for lockdown and only being there 2 months and none of the facilities we paid for being open.

I stayed for 2 nights in this former prison and I have to say it was wonderful. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. The mattress was lovely to sleep on. The shower was the only negative, water went all over the floor because the fixed shower head points right at the door so a problem when turning it on to heat up before getting in. Apart from that though, I can not praise this place enough. It is unique, quirky, clean and the staff are all fantastic, helpful, polite and accommodating. The location is central, walking distance to docks, station etc. I definitely recommend and will return to The Bridewell on my next visit to Liverpool. All this for only £37 per night.

Really cool place! Staff were super friendly, the woman on reception didn't mind holding our bags both before we checked in and after we checked out. Room was small but I mean, it's a prison cell - but that's what makes it cool! The old decor mixed with modern decor really makes this place unique. It's situated in a perfect spot within walking distance of Liverpool One and lots of bars/ clubs. I would highly recommend if your not staying in Liverpool for a long time, it's great for short stays. Thanks guys!
