Stayed in Feb 2022, leaving on 17.2.22. On day of departure there was no hot water in the hotel. Raised this with staff at reception numerous times between 0730 -10.30.. Very poor responses- no one knew what was happening. Raised complaint on departure and was told I would be contacted by the Hotel in the next few days. Also raised with IHG head office when I returned home. Surprise- no contact by Hoylake nor IHG. Very poor customer service, primarily due in my opinion, to un-trained staff.

A good location for Hoylake and West Kirby. Hoylake Station is just a 8 minute walk away. You can catch a 20 minute train service to Liverpool Central. The hotel is very near the promenade, restaurants and shops. When we stopped in early December 2021 the hotel was very quiet. Which was fine by us. The room was large enough for two, daily housekeeping if you wanted it, bed comfortable. Could have done with an extra chair. The breakfast was poor. Watery scrambled powdered eggs. Bacon like shoe leather. Stodgy baked beans, toast and that was it for the English. Cereals, yogurt cartons, croissants for the continental. There was a restaurant attached but it was closed during our stay. We liked the place, very handy for everything, staff very helpful and room comfortable. I wouldn't bother getting up for the breakfast.

Stopped to charge my car as the Morrison's charger is often full or unresponsive. Parked up, went to see reception to register...guy on reception was so kind and helpful. Even got a coffee...now that is service. Well done holiday inn.

Service was brilliant from moment we checked in till when we left, main reception area and rooms were very clean and tidy, staff friendly and helpful, asked the hotel cleaning staff for extra towels and pillow and they were to oblige. Definitely come back again. Great location 3 minutes walk from Hoylake promenade and lovely beach.

As before reviews are correct. Disengaged staff who ignore you. Shabby rooms with bad attempt at redecoration. Paint marks everywhere. Broken fixtures. Curtains hanging off rails, dirty shower tray. Overflowing bins, balcony in room had used tissues from previous occupants on it. TV not tuned properly. Welcome letter said rooms would be serviced during stay...they weren't.

Because the room was good clean bright and quiet, the food was excellent, but mostly because of the staff ,especially Brad who could not do enough for us, pleasant helpful and very thoughtful, ,10 out of 10 ,

Friendly staff, nicely fitted rooms and close to the sea. Breakfast seating is in an open plan ground floor foyer which I find a bit exposed to through traffic from the entrance, otherwise I'd consider giving it 5 stars. Definitely a good option when visiting the Wirral.

Decent rooms, decent WiFi, decent breakfast but get down early before the rest of the guests (particularly children) have finished messing about with the food that has been left out. In these Covid times it is not particularly pleasant watching people picking the food up with their hands, inspecting it and then putting it back again. In particular, the golfers seem to be self centred enough not to use the sanitiser provided, and not keep to the 3 person rule in place around the food area.

It’s a standard economy hotel, but a double bed with sheets that don’t fit is just too basic for an international chain. Prices were low for the time of year so all in all not bad. The lack of other decent places to stay on the Wirral is the only reason for staying in this good location.
