We had two meals at the Green Lodge, my meals were fine but my wife was disappointed with hers. On the first night she had the sirloin steak which was underdone, tough and with a fair amount of gristle. On the second night she had the scampi, which should have come with tartar sauce but didn't, the serving girl said they did not have any. However, the man on the next table also asked for scampi and when it arrived he asked for tartar sauce and received several sachets of the sauce. My wife did not enjoy the scampi without the essential sauce. We were so disappointed that we cancelled our booking for the next night and went elsewhere.

It's at least a year since we had visited, because we thought the meals were not as good as they use to be. Thought we'd give it a try again and we weren't disappointed. The meals had improved considerably, my granddaughter had curry, my wife had lasagne and I had gammon. All the meals were tasty, well cooked and value for money. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was good. Only poor point was the choice of two cask beers.

Visited The Green Lodge today for Father's day. The atmosphere was pleasant, our meals were very nice. The only thing that I would highlight is the service, it is slow. We have been on other occasions with no issues. As Father's day and Mother's day etc are dates in the annual calendar it would be more beneficial to have a couple more staff members on duty to help with ordering and serving food which would cater and plan better for the number of bookings for the day. A nice location. Would visit again.

What a lovely place to go for really nice food. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent - just the right amount and very tasty. Prices are reasonable and good value for money. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyable lunch with some friends visiting the area. Good variety on menu but pricy I felt on first reading the menu. The service and food were very very good which probably justified the price to be honest so all in all a great experience. 👍

Staff were lovely, but the food really wasn't very good at all. Several dishes were left more than 50% unfinished and when asked if everything was okay, on pointing it out the staff just said "On dear that isn't good is it" dishes removed but no offer to remove from the bill. As the staff were nice, I didn't raise this further at 'bill paying time' but won't be returning I am afraid.

My friend and I had lunch here yesterday. The food was fine but the waitress was very surly, didn't smile, was scruffily dressed and really wasn't a good representative for the restaurant. She definitely needed to take a customer care course and smarten up.

Just had a lovely meal here tonight. We had a voucher code for 30% off mains so chose a starter. Service was good. Drinks a bit pricey but same as other pubs. The food was boiling hot and very fresh. We had the baked camenbert to share and then I chose fish and chips. Enormous piece and tasted freshly battered at the pub. The batter was very crispy and well cooked. My other half had a chicken cider and mushroom pie. Really nice tasty food. Will visit again

Excellent food - specially the Signature sharer and other starters. And great friendly staff!

Stopped here for breakfast today and wasn’t disappointed in fact my expectations were exceeded…… not only is the menu very cost effective but the food served was delicious. I chose mushroom and cheese omelette that was packed with mushrooms and was a very generous portion….. So good that we called in again for dinner and enjoyed a Sunday lunch and hunters chicken dinner. Thank you for amazing food and see you soon Jayne X

Lovely place. Very comfy with no wait to sit when we went. Took a while for food to arrive but was worth the wait. Clean toilet area as well. £70 for 3 of us with a main and couple of drinks each and a couple of sides.

Nice pub, although we sat outside, great food and fab staff. If I had to make a complaint it would be about calling last orders . . We were there again on a Sunday night, right gang of us after a family wedding, and the only bell was rung at half 10 and when we went to get last round we were told it was finished as it was the second bell (everyone heard bell at half 10 and nobody heard one before) even though pub was open till 11 !!!!!

Fantastic place, delicious, well prepared food, great variety on the menu and professional, friendly staff. A fantastic end to our day out in West Kirby, well worth a visit and highly recommend.

I had the most incredible experience at the Green Lodge Hoylake! The outdoor area was a true oasis – beautifully landscaped, lush greenery, and a tranquil atmosphere that transported me to a serene escape. The garden seating was particularly inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal or a drink. Speaking of which, the food and drink quality exceeded my expectations. The menu was a delightful fusion of flavors, with a variety of options to cater to all tastes. The dishes were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients truly shone through in every bite. The drinks menu was equally impressive, offering a wide range of choices from craft beers to expertly crafted cocktails. The staff's knowledge and recommendations only added to the overall experience. The combination of the stunning outdoor area and the top-notch food and drink quality makes the Green Lodge Hoylake a must-visit destination for anyone looking to savor the finer things in life. I can't wait to return and enjoy the magical atmosphere once again!

Dined here with our family on Saturday. Outstanding. Couldn’t fault anything. The food was exceptional. Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The portion sizes were ample. My mother is rather picky, but even she cleared her plate. We have dined in many eateries and we feel The Green Lodge has to be one of our favourites. We will be coming back.

Have only ever got drinks here, will have to try food at some point. Really nice atmosphere, cosy and welcoming. Friendly staff, good selection of drinks. Ideal after a walk along the prom or red rocks.

By far the worst pub I’ve been to!! I ordered the pie of the day. It come with smash, yes smash! Creamy potatoes mashed it stated and I got smash. Never brought my honey glazed carrots out and once I pulled the waitress and explained this she brought out a carrot cut in two! No apology just attitude Thanks love. Honestly I’m not one to kick off in a restaurant but I had to leave the table and sit in the car to cool off. How I have just been served that food is beyond me. Before the owner reply’s to this comment saying get in touch to discuss this, I’d rather not, that’s how angry I am with that food. I’m surprised your not on Gordon Ramsey kitchen nightmares

First time visitors and we weren’t disappointed, well, besides the lack of honey and mustard glazed ham hock. Obviously a popular dish. The staff were very courteous, friendly and efficient. I ordered the cherry tomato bruschetta, which was delicious, but I just needed a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. I asked a member of staff and it was brought to the table within a minute. The rest of our food was also delicious and we sat back and enjoyed the pleasant surroundings for a while. Now that we’ve found this hidden gem, we will definitely be returning. A lovely experience.

We stopped off for a quick pint during a long weekend away during a warm spell of weather. We sat outside in the beer garden which was spacious and welcoming. The staff were very good and we got served quickly and efficiently, however the one thing l would say is that there are no price lists for drinks at the bar, l ordered 2 pints of beer (1 Pedigree and the other a Beavertown pint called Oily neck l think) l was then told it was over £11 which l think is way too expensive. We only had the one and left.

Good, straightforward accommodation and food. The bedroom was well equipped and comfortable, and (recently redecorated) was clean and welcoming. The menu was also unadventurous, but covered a wide range of choices and preferences. The staff were warm, friendly and efficient.

It's really what you'd expect from a nice pub that's been altered and improved to an hotel. I didn't stay in the hotel so I'm unable to comment.

A really warm welcome considering we hadn't pre-booked on a Sunday for a roast dinner! The landlady was really helpful and happy to chat about the history of the area as well as dealing with our questions regarding dish ingredients....nothing was too much trouble. Everything on the menu was available - unlike other hostelries just down the road. I'd definitely return if I were in the area. Thanks Cathy

Thank you to the wonderful staff at The Green Lodge Hoylake. We had a little celebration for my Dad’s 80th outside in the undercover dining area. The staff - especially Cathy - could not have been more helpful, friendly, efficient and kind! Food was of a really good standard, very good value for money. I can really recommend this lovely pub!

Sunday lunch, meal was good but the portion were very large and quite a challenge. My wife had the small portion but she still had difficulty. Maybe were just not usued to eating so much. Will come again perhaps not on Sunday when lighter options are on the menue.

The staff were great, room okay, trouble with shower but sorted quickly. They don't serve breakfast on a Sunday? So went to the Holiday Inn, buffet for a £5.

Busy but fantastic service from Madison. Food good. Glass of wine a touch pricey.

The food and service in the restaurant were excellent, couldn't fault anything. The rooms were also great however if you were unfortunate enough to be in a room near the fire exit it didn't close properly so then kept banging in the wind. Had to get up twice in the middle of the night to close it!! It really should just shut automatically after someone has opened it.

Problems with flat soda (whether this affects other products off the python can't say) which has been ongoing for some time spoiling the enjoyment here. Otherwise. Nice sunny garden and heated shelter. Beer fine. Pleasant pub. Dog friendly. Car park

Probably the best pub in Hoylake. The beers are varied and well kept. The food menu is great. The staff are friendly, cheerful and helpful. The ambiance is great. It's dog friendly, as long as your hound behaves. Can't comment on the accommodation as we're to close to stay, but friends that have say it's good. What's not to like? Hence its our local!

A lovely place to eat , very friendly staff ,excellent service , the food was cooked to perfection. You will not be disappointed

We arrived to find a very much reduced menu, a choice of only 5 or 6 main courses I think, no vegan main option and one of the items on the menu was unavailable. The steak and ale pie had smoked cheese in it (this wasn't mentioned on the menu). The veg was very overcooked, whole multi coloured carrots which were floppy and slimy. All in all very disappointing 😞

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady and shown to our table. This is the first time we have been to the Green Lodge it was recommended to us. We did try and book a room prior but it was fully booked. Our meal was lovely and well presented.

👍👍 This is the Valhalla for real ale drinkers. More quality beer available, than I've seen in the actual breweries. The staff are lovely and the setting is perfect. The pub is also dog friendly and the staff are clear dog lovers and make a fuss of your dog, which is lovely.
