We had our wedding at the Holiday Inn, Ellesmere Port on Friday 22 April. From booking the wedding right up until our departure this morning, every single possible thing we could think of was delivered above and beyond our expectations. The staff are amazing, the service second to non and the facilities perfect. The location is beautiful, food plentiful, well presented and superb quality. We would highly recommend this venue for a wedding. We will be booking again for our anniversary.

I had my wedding here yesterday and from day one of planning to our special day, everyone has been amazing. Claire has been fantastic, she has kept us up to date with everything and has answered any queries promptly. Jorja looked after us on the day and was very efficient. All staff were friendly and our day was absolutely perfect. The extra touches such as the lock and key for the chains and the card and champagne in our room was very much appreciated. Thank you so much for our perfect wedding xx

Came here with work for a week. Rooms were clean and spacious. Had kettle for tea and coffee. Iron and ironing board and a hair dryer. Hotel has a restaurant and a lounge to have drinks from the bar. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. All staff were really friendly.

Nice hotel. Pool was smaller than expected. Breakfast was ok some of the waiting staff were really good, super friendly. Others less attentive (e.g Thursday morning never got the hot chocolate or pancakes but not the end of the world)

After breaking down on the M53, making our way through nettle bushes and jumping walls with 3 under 3’s, we luckily stumbled upon this place. They allowed us to wait in the reception area and use the facilities while we waited on the AA. The staff are very friendly here and the facilities are very clean and tidy. The food is also delicious also. Thanks guys much appreciated!

Budget hotel which did what it says on the tin. No complaints. Not a 5 star review hotel but good all the same. Close to the boat museum and a short drive to Chester

Lovely room and really friendly staff. But the other guests last night were a complete and utter disgrace. When we arrived back at the hotel there was an ambulance outside people outside shouting and screaming with words I didn't want any of the kids to hear. Got to our room and could not sleep due to the screaming, shouting, banging around and banging doors in rooms above us!

Lovely warm welcome. Has it own separate gym and pool that we were able to book a time slot to use (with complimentary towels) Evening meal was delicious, as was the breakfast buffet. Wonderful view of the lock.

Best location ever. Hotel in Great need of updating. The carpet in the room is so dirty. The beds are small. Day to day cleaning of rooms is good. The hotel staff are awesome, so nice and friendly, very helpful. Hotel rooms lack any extra items, face cloths, enough hangers etc. Swimming pool in separate building, very warm pool, very dated changing areas.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port last week, after visiting Chester Zoo. So at least from my point of view the staff were polite and friendly. The room was a reasonable size with good air conditioning which is a key point since we visited in June. There is a reasonable number of car parking spaces immediately in front of the hotel and an overflow parking area which is positive, with an interesting view regarding the port setting. I can confirm we had an evening meal in the Hotel restaurant, which was fine, one selling point is kids eat free. Therefore, I would say on balance this is definitely a good option if you are staying over in Chester.

This was a bit of a surprise for us, given the location - right on the canal and a couple of very friendly swans. They were enchanting, swimming right up close for photos - as if they were trained. You can expect good service and comfortable rooms here. Pool was also great for the kids and they had lots of fun, swimming around. Could do with a fresh bit of a paint in the bathroom in the room we had. Otherwise, great night’s sleep. However, the AC didn’t appear to regulate the room temperature. Hopefully works better during the summer months.

Staff polite and friendly, room clean tidy and bed comfortable. Cooked breakfast was poor, bacon dry, sausages hard, scrambled eggs rubbery and fried eggs hard. This was a 6.50AM when breakfast starts at 6.30.... not good (too much heat lamp). Good selection of cereals, and cooked breakfast alternatives. Didnt try the facilities, as I checked in late and went straight to my room Loses 1 star for the cooked breakfast, everything else good. Will stay again.

We stayed here as a family of 4 for 2 nights. All the staff were super friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. We had a meal in the restaurant 1 evening and the food was top quality also both mornings we had breakfast at the restaurant all the staff were happy to help and very attentive to all the customers needs. More hot food was brought out as soon as it started running low. If we are ever in this area again we will be coming back to this hotel we had a great time here.

All the staff here are so lovely and friendly! The rooms were very clean with a powerful shower in our bathroom! The restaurant has a fabulous breakfast buffet and the one evening meal we had there was equally lovely and quite good value! Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because it was a bit noisy in the rooms. The walls are thin to the point of hearing conversion of other guests in the hallway and the telly in the next room. Also disappointed that no washcloths(flannels) were provided in the bathroom. Would have been nice to know this before arrival so we could have brought our own. Never been to a hotel where wash clothes are not provided. We ended up buying some at a local shop though so all good in the end.

Nice location, however window view to canal were scruffy swimming pool was dirty with sand dirt on lower part of pool, sauna was tiny and didn’t get the chance to use it as it was full, weather dispenser did not work neither. Went to take the children over at 7.45pm on Monday only to be told kids weren’t allowed in after 8. Then at 4am Monday morning the hotel was evacuated due to fire alarm going off, no one told us what was going on. Kids were cold and tired, never again

My local hotel of choice and there is a lot in the area. Great staff, location is superb as near Cheshire Oaks and some great places nearby. A decent gym and pool but what appeals is the staff who make this seem like a welcoming family hotel

Great team. Good quality service. Room service was good as well. Morning breakfast is brilliant. Parking available, overflow parking on site as well Good views. Probably need to get a cab to move around but the reception will do that for you if you'd check with them.

One of the best placed Holiday Inns. Beautiful sorroundings. Rooms were large enough with reasonable amnesties. However, it would have been better with a bigger sized window rather than a blank wall occupying 4/5ths of the canal view. Staff seemed to be a bit distanced from expected service level, two male staff members placed at banquet service desk and also the reception on separate occasions walked away whilst I was speaking to them (very odd).

Room had plenty of space, comfortable bed & good shower. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast had good choice & dinner menu was ok. Food a bit pricey.. was down for work & would definitely stay here again. Surrounding was peaceful & good wee walk round the water. Happy customer 😁
