By far the worst experience as a consumer I have ever had. Please do not use these for any event as you will be left disappointed. They have one thing on their mind and that is to take your money at all costs. We booked our wedding as the venue itself was impressive. Little did we know that the venue didn’t have planning permission. We found out of one of the vendors. When we contacted them they said it’s just a formality and the had a meeting with the council. We waited until after the meeting but the didn’t call us. We ended up chasing the to which the said they had to cancel our wedding because the marquee was not fit for purpose. We was disappointed but though ok just carry on looking for venues. I then asked for my deposit back which was £5500. They simply said no, they didn’t have it and they had spent it. Obviously you can imagine my anger and frustration. I said I would seek legal advise to which they responded yeah you probably should. What’s more infuriating is that we got our close friends and family to book the hotels rooms/cottages for the date we were supposed to get married. The all spent upwards of £400, my sister £1000 for her cottage. They will not refund this either as they say we can still go and use the rooms. Even though we only booked the rooms for the wedding which was now cancelled by them. None of our guests had any desire to stay there after the way they treated us and other poor people the deceived and took their money. Please do not use these people. They have one agenda and are morally bankrupt. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE PEOPLE, STAFF AND OWNERS ALIKE.

Place was beautiful, food amazing should have been the most perfect day, however there was a fire we where evacuated at 9 and let back in for over 2 hours, many fire alarms we where told to ignore. finally got out the whole roof was ablaze, The place was destroyed, we where devastated for the owners but also have to mention No protocols followed for fire evacuation no head counts done. no fire Marshall it was an absolute shambles. Since we have been refused money back for the room we didn't use. they won't give insurance details for lost belongings. the staff in the office now are the rudest people I have ever encountered.

Dirty old Bridal Mews accommodation, stagnant dirty water in the jacuzzi bath legionella anyone? Constant smell of dirty drains, black mold covering the bath asked them to clean it and they failed to do this, constant drip of water in the bath, rusty pans in the kitchen, ripped sofa in the lounge, no water pressure in the kitchen taps, cobwebs and dust in the rooms, ooh and as a side note whether you believe things go bump in the night or not we had things go bump or even bang a number of times and even pull our bin bag over onto the floor whilst we were sitting in the living room, nothing the Manor can do about this just for info and I'm not a believer. However it's clear this establishment is only interested in facilitating weddings I would not stay there overnight in their accommodation.

DO NOT BOOK. When the venue had a fire they refused to inform couples, they refused to pay couples out or respond to emails. Lying on their social media and deleting numerous comments and blocking people. They had insurance and also made customers get insurance too but they didnt pay out. They actively delete comments they don't like on social media. Please feel free to contact me for proof of all the above. Not to mention during lockdown they charged extra to keep our booking, no other supplier did this out of morality. If something goes wrong you're on your own. Imagine being due to get married and having no communication, no help or support and as a final slap in the face they wouldn't refund all our guests who booked accommodation there! Save your money and time and don't let corrupt establishments win.

Do not give this company any money. They still have not settled debts with those whose weddings were cancelled due to the fire and may thus be operating while under insolvency. They were useless with providing insurance details, refused valid refunds (which you cannot do unless insolvent) and operated incredibly shadily throughout the entire ordeal of rearranging our wedding. Do not trust these people.

Veterinary students were due to have their Graduation Ball here however the marquee to be used did not comply with Council regulations and the event could not therefore go ahead. Thornton Manor didn't bother to inform all those who booked accommodation solely to attend the function and refused to refund them. Horrible lot that are happy to take money from students. Seems they have lots of similar cases ongoing. This place is to be avoided at all costs.

We booked a stay at Thornton Manor for a Romantic weekend We were greeted by Emma who is a really welcoming and lovely person and made us feel special from the word go. After receiving the keys we had a chat about the history of the estate. It was like stepping back in time. We went into our room and what a lovely room it was, very comfortable and special. We have already booked another stay at the Manor for our Christmas shopping spree in Liverpool. Thank you for making our stay special.

Booked the housekeepers cottage and Bridal Mews for 2 nights (29th and 30th Mayl 2022) at a cost of almost £1500. The accommodation was run down and neglected. Paint was peeling off the walls, and the floor in the Bridal Mews in an abominable state. The router was broken, so no WiFi when we arrived. There were many light bulbs out and not replaced, a constantly dripping shower head, the fridge had not been defrosted for months by the look of it, the log burner was uncleared and contained ashes from a previous visitor, the freezer in the housekeepers cottage had been removed so there was a hole in the kitchen and no freezer, there was a single duvet on a double bed, smoke alarm batteries not replaced and blipped all night, settee in holes, back fallen out of the wardrobe. We found a fork under a chair in the Bridal Mews, so obviously cleaning was not very thorough. In fact, having stayed in the Mews where we found the fork, we came home and went down with Covid 2 days later. I suspect it came from there, or from the staff who were constantly in and out trying to make repairs. The staff on duty did their best at the time, but this resulted in our privacy being disturbed while they tried to put things right. When I made an official complaint it was totally ignored - 4 emails to the manager Josh Griffiths totally ignored. Impossible to get connected to him by phone, as he is pretty constantly 'out of the iffice'. No refund was offered. Nothing. Very far from the luxury accomodation this was advertised as and certainly not worth the money I paid. I would not recommend this as luxury accommodation to my worst enemy. I would have been happy to accept that after the fire things are difficult, and a 50% refund would be have been fair and acceptable. However the contempt shown by the manager in not even acknowledging my emails (and some were forwarded by the office staff so I know he received then) is totally unacceptable. So I feel obliged now to write this review

DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!!. When the venue caught fire they made no effort contact customers, they didn’t share on Social Media or email. This company is known to lie on social media and will delete any negative comments posted on online. They had insurance and also made customers get insurance too but they didnt pay out. Actually only utilised the room for 2 hours for a freshen up, due to needing to be close by to the hospital with a family emergency. But, the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The area is beautiful. The rooms are beautiful as well with a real old style rustic feel. Highly recommended!

Winter Wonderlight. Lovely light displays, love the areas they do the light show to music. No dark areas on route. Fairly small area but they have made the most of it all. Staff were all so friendly, professional and seemed very happy to be there. Only downpoint is the food/drink options, more pop up fairground style rather than Christmas so could definitely improve on that part. Pretty hard to find entrance as not properly lit - signposts could have been bigger and clearer.

We married here in march 2019 and can't rate the staff or the venue highly enough. Beautiful music room which is a perfect ceremony or wedding breakfast room. The wedding organisers know their stuff and help you to organise your day to exactly what you want and ensure it goes off without a hitch. Fabulous cottages available for guests to hire, i stayed the night before with bridesmaids, and the lodge we had was immaculate. Everything you needed was available, they also provided a good range of breakfast choices, fruit and pastries. Would highly highly recommend the venue for its beauty and the staff for their energy, calmness, knowledge and expertise to help you get the day of your dreams.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay the staff and owner couldn't do enough, it was like stepping back to a beautiful bygone age of tranquility and calm. Walk in Lord Leverhulmes footsteps in the gorgeous gardens, and experience the stay of a lifetime.

Me and my fiancé stayed here a few weeks ago with our boys at the thatched pavilion. What an amazing experience with the hot tub and very secluded back drop, simply breathtaking. Thankyou for all the team for your hospitality and professionalism.

It was our first time visiting the Winter Wonderlight event at Thornton Manor on Christmas Eve Eve and honestly it did not disappoint. We all had an absolutely great time. A great big shout out to Carl (head groundsman) who went out of his way to make it such an enjoyable experience for us. He went above and beyond for us and is truly a credit to his employer! Thank you Carl 😊 Such friendly and amazing staff all throughout the manor/grounds. I dont think i've ever met so many nice people in 1 go! And plenty for the children to see and occupy themselves with. The lights were amazing and i'm so glad the weather behaved for us. It was truly a wonderful day out and well worth the travel for us! Only suggestion would be to have more options for food/marshmallows for vegetarians. Otherwise a very well organised event and fun for all the family 🤗

Sadly much of the main house is not currently in use due to a devastating fire. However the entrance hall and the most beautiful large music room will still be an absolute delight for a special occasion and many cottages in the grounds for accommodation

Other than the tired carpet, it was really nice and such a lovely location. We will go back again.

Enjoyed a fabulous evening with front row seats watching the talented and rather lovely Russell Watson. From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The venue was perfect from the pretty outdoor walled garden area to the spacious indoor seated marquee, every element was fantastic especially the live performance from Mr Watson and his talented band! There was a bar with every beverage you could think of and outdoor catering serving delicious food. I went for the fish and chips which was so good!! A perfect night out which I would happily repeat, over and over again! What a wonderful venue Thornton Manor is.

DO NOT book your wedding here or give these people your money. We are owed thousands from our wedding that was supposed to be in June 2022 and all our guests that booked have been refused any refunds for their accommodation. The fact they are still advertising weddings and advertising a winter wonderland for 2022 whilst claiming they cannot afford to refund the costs for anyone else is absolutely disgusting. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Alot of brides are taking them to small claims court and they are they are still disputing it up until the day of trial. Awful and so sad that peoples savings for their weddings are completely lost.

Booked a stay at Thornton Manor with my wife and kids. We checked in just before 5pm and were greeted by Emma who was very helpful. She gave me the keys and a map of the estate. Unfortunately the manor was off limits but the estate itself was magical. It was as if you have stepped back in time. We checked into our room and what a delightful room it was. A huge 2 bedroom apartment with the biggest room I have ever stayed in. We met Will, the security guard who also showed us around. Overall, a fantastic stay and we will be coming back when the manor is up and running again. The staff are a credit to the hotel! Thank you

Faded glory. This stately home has seen better days and clearly needs investment. The room I was in was overpriced, but it's still worth a visit for the grounds and the setting. The main house can't be visited after being gutted by fire earlier this year. So all in all, it's half an experience.

Loved it a proper authentic cottage and the hot tub was bliss, could do with sprucing up the back yard with flowers and some colour where the hot tub is placed. Not in big open space like its shown in the pictures but was a bonus as you have privacy! Essential were provides which was a great suprise!

Beautiful location for a wedding. The Manor itself was magnificent. Didn't get to see much of the grounds as the weather wasn't great but what we saw from the windows and the short walk was beautiful also.

My wedding was on 6/11, we had been shown round the beautiful site about two years ago, in a beautiful green Jaguar. On the wedding day me and my grooms party attended the venue at 12:30 where they where setting up, and what looked to be people looking around, everything seemed to be good so far. We had a winter weather and it was raining which was expected in Britain but we had made the wedding a winter theme so we where happy. Soo are first problem was we had rented the groomsman cottage the night before so the the bride and bridesmaids could stay the night before and have a relaxed morning. When Chloe went to set the venue up the night before which they said we could, they forgot to put the tables out so they had to get people there to do it which they didn’t do until later on in the evening, I can understand that some places don’t allow people to set up the night before but when been told we can, we expect the help. We also got told that we will have a car bring Chloe to the venue from the cottage (short distance on site) after originally been showed a love green Jaguar on the day they picked Chloe up In a dirty Volvo estate, they commented saying we never wanted the other car ( but why show people in a nice car and then show up in that!) we paid £600 for the cottage the night before plus two nights of the bridal mews which accumulated to over £1100 and they give us that! Personally that’s disrespectful! And on top of that we had another cottage booked which unfortunately had to be cancelled because of a family illness, I rang up to cancel 4 weeks before and they would only offer me credit notes (I don’t expect the whole amount but would have been nice getting some thing back!) that cost £518. The next thing was when Chloe was about to come down the aisle to Christina Perri a thousand years, the planner had turned around to Chloe and said they never did a sound check so we didn’t have music to come down the aisle too! Luckily we had a bagpiper (family friend ) ask as Chloe was standing there if they had any music and they replied no so he played the bagpipes (thankfully) When they where doing the speeches we had problems with the Mike’s and music, truthfully people may think we are been picky but when paying soo much money I expect better organisation and we didn’t get it. We have wrote to Thorton manor and they have responded saying we should have informed them more but we have been talking about all these things for two years!! And they haven’t apologised and they offered us a one night stay in the bridal mews (personally I would not be staying in a suite on a wedding manor that you can’t get any food or entertainment) again this is my opinion, I was not happy

A superb venue for my daughter's wedding. The staff were gracious and helpful. The food was delicious and the surroundings beautiful. From the string quartet welcoming guests and the grand sitting rooms with log fires, to the imposing ball room with vaulted ceiling, a wonderful wedding venue. A fantastic day!
