Lovely place to stop off during a canal walk. There are plenty of benches to sit down on and also many rubbish bins, something that there is a lack of on the canal unfortunately. Being part of the Bluebank Pools Nature Reserve, lots of wildlife and nature can be seen here and the lock itself is interesting to see, especially if you catch it in action. There's a small car park immediately next to the lock, but Bluebank Pools car park is very close by and easier to access.

As part of the Chesterfield canal system you can rest here and take time out for quiet reflection, marvel at the engineering of past generations or enjoy the wildlife.

Great place for a wander with the dog even if it’s 10 mins or an hour.

I take my dog walking around here, Its a popular place for walkers and cycles. Need to watch the footways for puddles. Its a gravel and not tarmac way.

Nice lock on Trans Pennine trail. As many ducks as you can imagine

A beautiful setting for sitting on the bench beside the lock listening to the flow of water. This is the only lock on the Western Side of the Chesterfield Canal that has the original natural stone by-wash, fascinating to watch the water track from left to right. A spot that is a favourite with the ducks so why not feed them with food they flourish on - Rice, Lettuce, Oats, Corn, Grapes - NO BREAD. Easy access with Car Parking for five vehicles via Newbridge Lane, or a short walk from the Car Park on Brimington Road, next to the Mill Pub. You can walk either way from here to either Tapton Lock or Hollingwood Hub, both with Cafe's.

Lovely walk from the Tapton Lock visitors centre along the Chesterfield canal. Really close to a busy town, but at moments, you could be in the middle of nowhere!
