Very interesting place to visit. Has small cafe, gift shop, clean toilets. Plenty of information on local walks. Would be 5 stars, but during my visit it was difficult to find a car park space...but, I was lucky. Can highly recommend. Short walk to view of Derwent Dam...Big!

Good toilet facilities. A lovely little cafe and stunning views. The little shop offers some essential first aid supplies and some other trinkets. Very disappointed to find out that the museum explaining all about the historical importance of the dam which was used by the RAF 617 squadron to practice for the dam buster raids has been closed because the gentleman who set up the museum died and no one has taken the mantle to ensure people are offered the opportunity to learn and educate themselves and the younger generations.

I’d advise to park at the visitor centre car park if spaces and then see if route is accessible if not can walk the other way around as far as you can including the walk across the Ladbower reservoir. The visitor centre as well is good for a whippy ice cream 🍦 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely spot for a good walk. Had 3 routes to choose from. We did the green walk, not for the faint hearted, long and unsteady underfoot but the views were amazing.

Plenty of paths to choose. Parked near the visitor centre for free but need to go early otherwise might be too difficult to find a space. From visitor centre passed Derwent reservoir up to Howden reservoir and to slippery stones, then other side walked back to visitor centre, took 4h. Beautiful views.

This is a brilliant place to go walking. There are 3 marked trails and they each offer great scenery to enjoy. I use a mobility scooter and found it very easy to get around, although there are a fee quite steep bits so something to be mindful of. It started to snow while we were going around the reservoir so we were able to catch the area in both clear and sunny light which was great. I would highly recommend a visit here.

I can give full because a nice place for one day trip. Its in Peak district area. Lot of parking spaces avialable with small parking charges. Need to bring coins. No card no app payment. A small cofee shop with snacks cofeeice creams etc. Toilet facilities avialable. Its a good for a site seeing and hiking as well. On its way lot of small points for site seeying. You want to see the dam go by side of the dam either by steps or Snake path.

The Information centre has now reopened following the COVID closure. Very well kept toilets and a kiosk selling hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, pies & snacks, although nowhere to eat inside there are plenty of places to sit outside. There are a number of walls to take around the Derwent Reservoirs, some are identified by colour coding. You can also just set off and walk ins Circle around the reservoir, where the terrain is mostly flat. There is a charge for parking at the centre and a few chargeable car parks near-by. In addition there are free parking spots, although these fill up quickly at weekends.

Beautiful. We went on a 3 hour walk around the reservoir and then went to this centre to eat a picnic and have tea at the centre. Lovely place. Great parking, clean toilets, stunning scenary. And an amazing pasty. Parking is cash or card and £3 at the time of writing. Perfectly reasonable. What more could you want out of life. Definitely pay it a visit.

Arrive here early at the weekends to get a parking spot. Great little cafe and bike shop all very friendly. Parking £5 day or £3 for a couple of hours. Walk around the upper reservoirs back to the visitor centre is just under 11 miles and a nice easy walk or cycle. Thourougly recommended. Lots of local history including Tin Town and of course home of the Amazing Dambusters practice area.

Pleasant area to walk and a ton of history, but for the real spectacular you need to time your visit for when the water overruns the dam.

Free parking unless you drive all the way in to the visitors centre. Wasn't crowded. Was a lovely walk in some good weather. Beautiful 💜 area with lots of information boards around.

Absolutely stunning views. Easy to follow path, plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the breathtaking views. Parking in laybys along the road and large car park at visitors centre.

A trully beautiful place to visit and explore all around it with your families, or friends! whole Derwent Reservoir Walk is amazing! a lotta of beautiful nature scenery! the best route to enjoy the nature views is to take a long walk which is called - Derwent & Howden Reservoirs Walk (10 miles, 3-4hours on foot in total) could be a bit of a challenge, but worth it :) i quite recommending it!

👍 I would advise going to the visitor centre before going on any walks nearby, and especially if you plan to go on a walk on the peninnes walk, because it is a long walk and you can get it accidentally lost very easily, the centre has a wide variety of maps that would suit you to go on the right path...
