😠 Used John pye a lot and had some decent stuff. I’m afraid I can’t say that now. Bidded on a vr headset. I got a head strap with broken wires hanging out of it the headset wasn’t even in there. I know they check the stock and that it’s actually in there. Disappointed isn’t the word I’d use right now.... If the item isn’t in the box don’t list the lot as if it’s got it in there. I know they wont miss one customer but safe to say the people who matter around me wont use them anymore either, I guess that is a positive on my end

Dreadful customer service. I bid in a closed auction (not open / able to view) and won 2 lots of “Leather Purses” I received 2 lots of “Plastic Baskets”… I filled out the online customer help form and received a phone call that basically informed me that the lots were listed as the description on the outer boxes THEY received. John Pye Auctions did not physically check what was actually in the lots they were putting up for sale. Customer service said it was NOT there fault they hadn’t checked the lots! The photos used and description of the goods were for reference only and should not be taken as a the ACTUAL goods you could receive??? If this is there real policy - they could describe any lot as anything they want and send you whatever they like!! Absolutely shocking, this will be following up via trading standards…

Some very good items here. Great auction, please read all print, don't forget there's 25% buyers premium, but then there's VAT on top of that so please make sure younwork out the final cost because if not you might get a surprise with he additional add on,

Be very careful if you do not collect any items within the agreed time frame as extremely high storage fees can be requested. Expect a long wait at collection I was there 90 + minutes. No speed about the Chesterfield site what so ever.

Sadly I bought some tech (gaming steering wheel) and the item was faulty. This was not mentioned in the description and it is not an item you can actually test in the show room as you require a games console or PC to do so. Their T's and C's offer no recourse so you buy at extreme risk.

Has some good stuff from here, yeah I've had one of two bad items as well but that's what you get with auctions. Overall I've made some good money re-selling on eBay and at car boot sales. My only gripe is people paying stupidly over the odds for some items, I've seen people bid more than high street prices for stuff they don't even know if it works! Remember that if you do buy something and it doesn't work you are legally entitled to your money back within 14 days as you are protected through distance selling. In fact you can send it back for any reason at all and they have to refund you.

Some brilliant items from here. But unfortunately when you purchase something even if it states on the lot plus the invoice a mirror is silver and you get a brown one they offer no other alternative other than return your items. Also I bought a couch for my daughter which stated it came with a footstool the man I hired to collect it was getting quite a lot off items for me so this was missed. I emailed John pye and I was offered no other alternative, other than return your item. It cost's money for a van man which is not .cheap Customer services I found very rude and not very helpful. Misrepresentation off item's doesn't count for anything I suppose. So check your items folk's, as what is advertised may not be what turns up!!!

I recently bought a sofa from here and had a man with a van collect it on my behalf. Unfortunately the legs for the sofa were not collected. Another customer had accidentally taken these with his purchase. The legs were custom made for this particular sofa and could not be purchased elsewhere so I really needed these. I was apprehensive about calling customer service because my experience in the past had not been great - I've been told that all items need to be checked before leaving the premises, however I spoke to a lady called Sophie who said she would ask the manager to investigate it. I had a call back from Jimmy the next day after he had checked CCTV he told me that the legs were taken by another customer, that he had already spoken to them and they had disposed of it. He offered me either a full refund and collection of the sofa, a partial refund for the missing legs or that he could try and source another set from the warehouse. I opted to wait and see if Jimmy could find another set of legs. A week or so later I get a call from Jimmy saying they were able to recover the original legs and that he would personally collect them and drop them off to me. I have not experienced customer service like this from anywhere before. Jimmy really is an exemplary member of the team at John Pye, I can not thank him enough for "doing his job".

Collection staff at room 48/49 are very rude and aggressive. Most of the items were broken upon collection even though no damage was shown in the images. Waste of time and money

Careful of Storage Fees. I bought some cycling items from them in a recent auction and then had covid so missed my slots . In 6 days I accumulated £180 in storage fees on a bunch of lots that totalled £585. Their own FAQ's are below for reference. I've no problem with the charges, but a reasonable company would have sent automated emails alerting registered users to the charges. It should have stated on the invoice about the storage fees, they simply don't alert customers to them. It's profiteering. Re the charges: Here's what their FAQ's say: Will I incur storage fees? Items that are paid for but not collected by the collection deadline may incur storage fees by the site. We recommend you pay for and collect your lots within the deadlines clearly stated to avoid storage fees. Not how much they are... (£5 per lot per day) I paid the fee on collection but there is no invoice, when I called through to customer care I was told that a receipt or invoice was not offered for storage fees. That's crazy as if needed, there's then no way to claim back the VAT. I've raised this with HMRC. Finally the collection process is horrible. They could digitise it and make it so much better and efficient. It's like the whole operation is stuck in the 80's. On the plus side, I asked if they could speed up my collection as I had a commitment and they did...

Very unhelpful at the customer service. I had won an item and had organised a courier to pick it up. They had sent the wrong item across and when enquired - they put the blame on me - now stuck with an item that someone else had won , and what’s worse is that the item that I currently have costs a fraction of what I paid for it. It makes you feel scammed and what’s worse is they don’t even accept responsibility that their stock management was very poor at best and their management was atleast partly responsible for what has happened. Please be aware.

It's the best place if you willing to wait 2 hours extra. The staff unfriendly, they simply don't care. I buy from John Pye from different sites, but this one in Chesterfield It's the worst by far. Nobody cares, and when you ask questions they not even answer. I will literally stop buying from here just because of the staff bad attitudes

Repeat customer with John Pye and the standards are dropping MASSIVELY. Items are just thrown into a box with no care and most items are now turning up damaged and ruined. Spoken to a member of staff called Alicia. Didnt want to help in the slightest and came across short and rude. Such a shame.

Guess it is our own fault for trying to save some money. Bought a nest of tables, must be a second, as one doesn't fit in correctly. There is also a split in the wood and it is riddled with woodworm. Buy cheap buy twice.

I've been to John Pye at Marchington, Derby & Nottingham all very good. The same cannot be said for Chesterfield. The staff are lazy & ignorant. 3 times I've been & all 3 times the service provided by the staff was very poor, walking around not giving a toss. I will not be buying anything from Chesterfield in the future .

DO NOT USE THIS SCAMMING COMPANY..... or at your own risk 0 stars if i could I've been using auction houses for over 3yrs now and wouldn't reccomend using Chesterfield unless you can A) go and view the stock B) check the fine print and full terms and conditions C) have time to waste The booking system and collection slots are a joke. The floor is run by juveniles who just wander around with an attitude. No one is helpful and expect to wait a minimum of 60 minutes plus before you even see your item or part of your order. Customer service is also pointless it's a main chat reciept no direct email for Chesterfield, they are not customer focused. I would most certainly take note of all reviews on goole and trip advisor before using them. There are plenty of better ones out there. I'm not going to be using them moving forward I've given them 3 shots now. DELIVERY.... do not expect anything but hassle. They do not ship within 7 days. I have had to escalate the matter to adam pye the managing director When the item did arrive it was missing parts and again customer service poor DO NOT USE THIS SCAMMING COMPANY

Ive bought a few items from John Pye and generally everything has been ok with also a timely delivery. However i find the Chesterfield site very poor and not very efficient in dispatching your purchase. They are quick to take your money but not very quick in dispatching your items. After 1 week with no signs of the items being dispatched, i phoned only to receive the scripted answer; we try to meet the deadlines but we are extremely busy, you will just have to wait. The assistant was not very helpful and a bit rude. Hopefully the items will arrive next week and be as advertised. The Edinburgh hub is much more efficient.

Waiting time on collection upto 3 hours and that when pre booked shocking never known a system like it .the other sites are a lot better, just Chesterfield. All sales rooms/lots come though on door/1 team

Over estimate goods in order to manipulate bids on lots by doubling the REAL estimate. List lots of goods With multiple items and then don't provide the goods paid for. Customer service is terrible and do absolutely nothing when you complain about goods missing

Not willing to help, instead trying to lay their burden off by avoiding and telling to go chat online. Just wanted to talk to their technical staff who put a password on laptop that i bought. How difficult that is over the phone that they need me to chat online or leave an enquiry via email which is time taking. A company that dont deal with their customer queries swiftly never flourishes and stays long in game unless they either pay attention towards queries or get rid of lazy useless staff unwilling to help.

Utter waste of money! Would have selected zero stars if it was an option. Full pallet of useless items. Not one box made a complete item, despite there being a description of a corner garden seat! Requested help to return but flatly refused, with the advice that they guarantee nothing to be complete. Never would have thought this would be allowed to happen!! You live a learn, to NEVER bother again. Thanks John Pye Cheaterfield 😩

I bought a car From the John Pye.head gaskets below. when I bought a start and drive at the time. The fan belt has been removed. Used recovery trucks bring it home. When I replaced the belts then I found the problem. It happened to me many times. Deferent issue. Never again buy a car.

I have bought some good stuff from here but on two occasions the items I bought were no good at all.

Beware. Read the small print. I have been buying from them for years. Had both good and bad experiences as you would expect but always been reasonably pleased with the delivery. Today they invoiced me £192 to deliver 2 small parcel sized items. Utterly ludicrous as both lots (including taxes etc) came in at less than £60 total.

Plenty of bargins to be had. I had a couple of missing items however was dealt with a fair way. Mainly dealt with Chesterfield, South Wales. Look and look again remember add around 45%. Be careful when buying single items to try and make a profit. Only possible thing which could help buyers would be to add more collections

Don't bid on items at this auction house if you cant wait ages for your items to get delivered unlike other auction houses. Very unfriendly customer service. They point you to 30 days delivery policy really! If you are quick to take money at least be quick to deliver items won.

  • 1/5 R J. 5 months ago on Google • 1 review
Chesterfield site very slow on the collection side. They request that you select a time slot to collect items but had to wait over 90mins above the selected collection time to finally get the item. Very poorly organised and there appears to be no method to the collection process. Very paper-based on clipboards and they just picked which rooms they wanted to go to regardless of customer waiting times and sign in times. Could be a lot better organised.
