What a brilliant day out! We have been to a few petting farms with our kids and this is by far the best one we have been to. Usually they are such a hectic day out but this place is so relaxed. Very well laid out and has everything you need (baby change, decent cafe, picnic benches etc) Great play area outside and a soft play inside. A great variety of animals and lots to get involved in like feeding the lambs or holding rabbits and Guinea pigs...or even a snake! The best part for me was how amazingly friendly all the staff were! Such wonderful people that really try to make the day special for the little ones. The lady and gentleman tending to the Guinea pigs were especially lovely to our kids and the man working in the reptile room! Our son was crying he was too scared to even go in the reptile room and 5 mins later he was holding a snake, the man put him at such ease. The cafe was great too, the lemon drizzle cake was delicious and the staff attentive. Really happy to have discovered this place, we will definitely be back 😊 Visited 22/04/22

Went for my son's birthday treat today. It was really quiet and relaxed. Lovely array of things to do both inside and out. Tractors and adventure playgrounds and a brilliant soft play area and cafe indoors. Chance to get close to the farm animals and even bottle feed the lambs. Finished with a train ride round the farm and ice cream. One very happy little boy!

This is a fantastic place to visit with young children. It is a well planned out farm with lots of animals to interact with. Children can feed guinea pigs, rabbits, goats, alpacas and many more animals. There is a miniature train that runs 3 times a day which travels all round the farm. There are quite a few, well equipped outdoor play areas and 2 indoor play areas. Picnic tables and covered picnic tables, snacking area and shop. Lots of photo opportunities. The staff are really friendly and helpful around all areas of the farm and shop areas. We took our granddaughter and she loved every minute of our day. We will definitely return with our other grandchildren.

A brilliant day out, bottle feed the lambs, go on the go karts, feed the animals, hold the small animals, see the reptiles up close, dig stones with the digger, big park to play on, picnic area, really good food and drinks in the dining area, ice cream parlour, huge soft play area indoors, a train that takes you to another smaller park.... There's so many things to do. Every member of staff we spoke to had the best attitude, couldn't help enough and was very friendly. I have been to a lot of petting farms and this is by far my favourite yet, just the staff make the journey worth it but with all the things to do, it's well worth the money. We spent all day here and didn't want to leave. Fantastic visit and will hopefully be back again soon.

We thought that this will be more suited for children, but we enjoyed it more than we expected!! Plenty of hand washing stations, clear signs for animal feeding, train journey was included in the ticket, and the staffs were super friendly and helpful as we are adults but they allowed us to feel the same experience as kids lol. Brilliant place😍

We had a brilliant afternoon outing at Windmill farm. It's always been a brilliant place to take the kids....play areas indoors and outdoors, animal feeding, lamb feeding, bunnies & guinea pigs to cuddle, train ride, cafe, reptiles to hold. So much to do and see. We even got to see the birth or two lambs today which was incredible!!!! We can't wait to go back in the summer once the maize maze has grown to try that out too. Thanks very much for a lovely afternoon out

Amazing day out if you have a little one with lots of different adventures / themes throughout the year. Animal petting with the usual suspects. bunnies, pigs, goats etc. There is also an exotic animal section filled with Spiders, snakes and tortoises etc if you are feeling brave enough. Plenty of outdoor space play areas for the little ones to run around in. Restaurant with a reasonable choice of food with a couple of indoor play areas. Finally it has a little train that runs every hour which is my little boys favourite attraction. All in all for a family day out you can not go far wrong and all the people that work there are very passionate about the animals.

Good place to keep the kids busy. Lots to do with a variety of different areas, including the rabbit and hamster area were they can stroke and feed thrm. The spider and snake area kept ours entertained, with the keeper making things very interesting. The Santa grotto, deer and steam train sounds great really looking forward to it.

We have had the best day stroking and feeding the animals. This was a last minute trip where we arrived at 3pm, so we only had two hours, but we had plenty to of time to see the animals, go on the train, and have a coffee. The staff were all super friendly and provided educational information that was super interesting for both me and my boyfriend who are both in our thirties (we have no kids). All the animals look really cared for and clearly are treated well as they enjoy human contact which really warmed my heart. Although we only had two hours, I spend a lot of time with a black and white cow (my favourite farm animal) who really enjoyed being fed the food I brought from the farm for £1.50 and being stroked. This made me day! So cute and stroking her is definitely in my top 10 things that I've done this year. We are coming back again and again!

We had a great day out with the children. Lots to do and great to pet some animals. It was red hot when we visited but there were plenty of places to retreat and and indoor play area which the kids loved. The actual windmill is an incredible feat of restoration too, a really impressive building.

Great place to visit especially with younger children. Very accessible, great range of animals, and creepy crawlies/reptiles. Food is good too but service a little slow. Soft play also a hit.

There's loads to do at the Windmill animal farm from petting and feeding lambs to indoor and outdoor play. The sunflower field is a must. There's a maize maze and rideable tractors too. The ticket price was quite high but with so many different play aspects all rolled into one I think it's not too bad. Food can be bought onsite as well as coffees and ice cream. We stayed 4 nights at the actual windmill, what a great building! All the original millstones are situated around the gardens and structural work inside including wooden beams and bolts are visible. The children, from age 4 Upto 19 all enjoyed the experience. We got some great drone footage too!

What a wonderful place. First time visit today with a 2 year old and 4 year old. Lots and lots for them to do. We couldn't get over how HAPPY the animals were. The place is absolutely spotless, all the animals look healthy, happy and relaxed, unlike many places we have visited. The staff friendly and approachable and can't do enough to help. Everywhere is pretty much spotless too! No extra add on prices for trains, mazes etc and the cafe, delicious food, fresh, great coffee and very reasonable prices! Will be visiting again :) well done Windmill Animal Farm

Amazing day out, we loved it! Perfect weather too which always helps. The place has changed since we were last there two/three years ago, there are more animals and a new Mere trail walk which was great, we saw plenty of young Canada geese and two water Buffalo on our way back from the train ride. Beautiful baby goats and lambs, a new fantastic section were children and adults could sit down to hold and stroke guinea pigs and a rabbit and we were also given leaves to feed them. The Critters2You were fantastic and informative, we held a Snake and stroked a Bearded Dragon and got to stroke Georgia the Tortoise outside 😀 even witnessed two llamas mating! So all in all an educational day 👍🤣 Lunch in the cafe was great too. Can't wait to come back and definitely recommend a visit.

Great experience we took our 13 year old mad about animals daughter..we were given a 1 on 1 tour looking at the snakes spiders lizards holding many of them and given a bit more education about each animal I would like to thank them all 👍

We had an absolutely fabulous time here, all of the staff were lovely and great with kids. We loved how interactive it was, from feeding the animals to being able to hold Thor the snake! Our only reason for knocking a star off was due to things such as the excavator and mini tractor rides being extra money on top of the £16 we already paid for our child. Overall it was great and we will definitely be back!

Took my grandchildren in the summer holidays and had a really lovely relaxing day. The grandchildren loved feeding the animals, the little train journey was so entertaining for them both and a nice ice cream at the end of their day. I would highly recommend a day trip to Windmill Farm

We tend to visit the farm once or twice a year, as it's a tad pricey to go too often. The staff are all super friendly and you can tell they enjoy their jobs. There's lots of animals, feeding experiences, soft play for young ones and a separate one for older ones, petting experiences, outdoor play area, a reptile room and a steam train. At Halloween they have pumpkin picking and at Christmas you can visit Santa on the steam train. Lovely place and you can spend the whole day there

Absolutely brilliant place to visit. I went with a 5 and 2 and half year old for pumpkin picking, as well as visiting the farm itself. The facilities are clean and there was lots to do. We held rabbits and Guinea pigs, as well as snakes in the reptile house! Feeding the lamas and sheep was a definite highlight, and we all enjoyed the train ride at an additional small fee. I would highly recommend this place, we took a homemade picnic and were glad as the queue for food was long. Booking is a must as people were turned away to keep capacity at a safe level. The fact it wasn’t overcrowded just added to the fab experience. We will definitely be back.

Spent a lovely few hours with grandson, plenty of space for him to run around. Animals were great to see. Enjoyed the half hour train ride. Have to pay to play with digger & some rides. As much as we did enjoy the farm we do think that the entry fees are a bit expensive.

Love this place! We went with kids aged 4,6 & 7 and they really enjoyed it. The best part was holding the animals they held a few and fed them. They also loved the play ground and spent an hour just in there! We all went on the train which was really good again the kids loved it. Food was nice and reasonably priced too or you can take a picnic. Little ice shop had some lovely ice creams in. Plenty to do here and reasonable entrance fee too. Well worth a visit

We visited on 29-06-21 as part of a holiday, at the time the only part that was unavailable due to covid issues was the indoor soft play. Thing is, we didn't miss not having one as there are more than one outdoor play areas. Loved petting and getting to feed the animals and the staff in the creepy crawly room couldn't have been more helpful, he offered to let us hold a snake and tarantula and let a big Lizard out into out into room for a pet and a wander. The cafe food was good and the train was a nice addition. Next time we are in the area we will be coming back. Fantastic day out for the kids.

  • 5/5 Alison H. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely place for children and adults. You can buy food to feed to the animals, which was a lovely experience. Lamb feeding was great, watching their tails go wild as they drank their bottles. Food was good and reasonably priced. Staff Lovely and friendly. Then we had a lovely train ride and saw a white stag at the lakeside station. Amazing day, left with an exhausted grandchild, which is always a bonus.
