Selling fish with ammonia with no treatment at all and tanks full of moss not properly being cleaned. They shouldn’t be selling fish if they can’t look after them for their needs. Absolutely upsetting I couldn’t buy any because I don’t want sick fish in my tank. Also sold me blood worms with a large parasite I had to throw it away. Not impressed with this. Their tropical tanks looks overdosed, large yellow too much water treatment is being added.

Only went here to buy some fish and ended up spending a few hours here :) lovely veriaty of fish for sale and accessories. Cafe is 5 stars on its own. Customer service is tip top as well. Can't wait to go again next month to fill up the fish tank

Comparing to the “greasy spoon” cafe that was there for years the new cafe has really stepped it up. Quality local food and a great setting next to the garden centre. The pricing isn’t cheap but the quality is worth it. A great place for a bit to eat and a mooch about with the kids. They also make a point of sourcing their live animals locally and not importing them, which is ethnically responsible if contrary to maximising profits.

I went and bought a small koi from here and had to bring it back due to the condition of it had it swapped for another one to find out when I got home that it had a form of illness just like the first one the smaller koi don’t get the form of treatment or the attention like the more expensive/bigger koi do, I’m not sure how often they check on their koi for signs of illness and I will definitely be not coming back here and I would advise anyone to do the same check your fish first before buying or go to trusted aquariums.

Excellent breakfast. The girls serving were very polite & extremely hospitable. The centre itself has a range of water features & tropical fish. Also pets, including, budgerigars, cockatiel, hamster, guinea pig.

The pond and cafe are lovely! However, going into the cafe their display tanks look poorly maintained. The selection of fish is pretty good but they look unhealthy (especially the goldfish), often seeing dead fish and quite a few are sick. The other selection of pets isn't bad though but they don't label their fish properly. For example, I bought 2 assorted oranda goldfish and got a shubunkin without realising and my parents got me a black moor but it was labeled as an oranda? It feels like the staff don't have much of an idea what they are doing.

Fascinating fish, but quite a tired looking place in terms of outdoor seating and the roofing in the aquarium area looks as if it has had many leaks and not been replaced. Don't go mid to late afternoon if you expect cakes and coffee. Once the cakes are gone, they're gone!

This use to be a great garden centre but I feel things have slipped quite a bit. I got a bit of a shock when I seen it + quite disappointed with the quality of plants. I felt when walking around they are catering for ppl looking for fish tanks, pumps + assories with some plants. The plants looked like they needed a good water. Cafe food was nice though + quite reasonably priced. I don't think I would rush back anytime soon. 😕. Sorry.

Knowledgeable staff and good range of products generally. Get most of my fish from here and they are usually very good quality and price is reasonable. And in line with other stores. Range of fish accessories/food/water treatments is very good but expensive so I will only tend to buy these if I can't wait for online delivery. A 500ml bottle of api tapsafe for instance will be about £16 in store but I can buy from an online aquatics store or amazon for around £10. If they brought the prices down on treatments and accessories to a few £ over online prices I would buy more from here and give full 5 stars.

Our main reason for our visit was brunch! There were 3 of us and a 9 week old. Breakfasts were delicious, could not fault thr food at all. The staff were pleasant enough but felt could've been a little more helpful, eg. Took baby for a nappy change, asked where the Ladies was. A member of staff told me, but didn't explain that baby change was in the disabled toilet, and as there were no signs either, ended up having to change baby the floor. Not ideal, but clean enough. When I mentioned this to our server, she did comment saying they should have a sign. Apart from that, food was excellent, and now we know the set up would go again.

It felt run down and tired to me. The cafe was open I didn't go in. But it was quite busy if you need pond or aquarium fish and things that relate to both I'd say u will probably find it there

Well well. I have never been to this place until today. God knows why! However it's good fun. Lots of fish to see from small to large carp. A great cafe with really nice food and drinks. You can sit amongst the gardens to eat/drink or stay in the cafe/restaurant. On a sunny day like today it's perfect to sit outside in the breeze and be with nature, even if you are just off an A road! 👏🏼

I love this place! This is where i get all my fish from. It's trusted they take care of all their animals equally and well. There is also a cafe which has been done up. Overall its a lovely place to go with kids while buying your animal supplies. 10/10 highly recommend

One more chance after 2 years and went back..we spend 80 £there for some.dead fish and few ornaments !so so so so sad

Needed to find a replacement canary as my elderly mothers tweety had sung his last song. The staff were nice and helpful. The birds seem to be well housed, clean and cared for. Plenty of parking. Easy access.

Nice and very large pet shop with very friendly staff. Nice just to walk around or actually buy some fish 🐟 🐠 or birds 🐦 the location on Google maps takes you to the car park

Went to the coffee shop for the first time today since it has been taken over. All I can say is I won’t be going again absolutely outrageous prices for basic food not even anything fancy. I made the mistake of paying £4.20 for a chocolate milkshake thinking it would be this big fancy thing and I was presented with a Hal full glass of bog standard chocolate milk shake with a paper straw plonked in it! I took it back. Can’t see this place lasting long. I wondered why it was quiet when we went in at lunch time now I know why.

I’ve been wanting to go here for awhile now and I finally decided to drive their today, I was disappointed with the unsuitable animal enclosures they were selling, as well as most of the fish being ill and lethargic I told a woman behind the till that works there that most of the fish were ill as they were floating on their side at the top of the water or they were at the bottom of the tank not moving much and she just said “that’s how they relax” I know for a fact that isn’t how fish relax and she didn’t even bother going to check on them! They will definitely die soon if nothing is done but they will just buy more because that’s what pet shops do💔, definitely won’t be going again, it was so sad to see the fish in that state

Done a long run (150 miles) to collect a lawnmower for parts. Stopped by on the way home and was very impressed by the facility. Staff were great too, despite having to put up with what must have been 40c heat in the pond fish area. Not a single dead fish in sight, good choice and pricing structure. Picked up a lovely hariwake for just £12.99 and a couple of tropicals. Plant selection was great, and priced just as good. Took some of those as well. All told a lovely place to stop by, glad I did.

Being interested in all things fish, aquarium, pond and aquatic plants this is a fantastic place to visit. We got plants, pond fish and tropical. Lovely place and facilities and lovely knowledgeable staff. Next time I'm in the North West I'll be calling in again.

Iv been to a lot of aquatic places and the staff here go out of there way to help you . The fish are well looked after and reasonably priced. I wouldn't go anywhere else after the help and knowledge of the staff . Clean friendly environment with more to offer than just fish ... 🐟

I came on a Thursday afternoon to have a look at the fish and equipment as I have just bought a tank. The customer service was excellent, a man with a Liverpool kind of accent was very helpful and knowledgeable, he was to the point also. Very good experience and café looked good on the way out

I've been going to water world since I was a kid with my parents and now I pop in there now and then with my kids and it brings back great memories and my youngest son loves to feed the fish in the big pond in summer time they always have a wide variety of fish and animals to look at and the staff have always been happy to help

Got my first aquarium couple of weeks ago from here, finally finished setting it up today, just waiting to get the fish now which i will be coming back to water world for. Bought the Fluval shaker 252, was a great price, water world was the cheapest retailer for this tank and offered an amazing 0% interest finance through Klarna. I usually suffer with buyers remorse with everything but this time i am very pleased with my purchase. Lewis at Water World was super helpful, i couldn't ask too many stupid questions, he had so much time to ensure we was buying what was right for us and that we didn't spend more than we needed on equipment "too much" for our needs/tank. Super knowledgeable, genuine nice guy and a pleasure to deal with. (Tank kit & cabinet and decoration other than bonsai trees/moss all bought from Water world)

Helpful staff, happy to answer your questions and direct you to what you need. A lovely young man helped me put the bag of stones in my car as their was no way I could lift them myself. If you need a water feature they have a huge selection, there is something to suit everyones tastes

Was unable to purchase any tropical fish as the lady told me she wasn't allowed to leave the counter. There was a big queue of people waiting to buy fish and only 1 guy getting the fish out. After waiting 20 mins I asked the lady if she could do it and she told me no she wasn't allowed to leave the counter, and they were short staffed. Unfortunately this is the 2nd time I have been here and not been able to buy tropical fish due to staff. I was prepared to give it another chance after the 1st time. But no it has happened again I won't be returning

Good range of stock although a little disappointed with the variety of fish available! Well worth a visit as lovely setting with a carp pond with some big fish basking in the warm afternoon sunshine.

Obviously Covid has hit this place quite hard as it had very little stock. They are currently doing up the cafe and toilets so they were closed. There was a very helpful guy who recommended a pond pump which I purchased. I hope the refurbishment helps this business pick itself up.

The grandchildren love the animals and fish but the whole place is very sad looking. There is some renovation going on, so hopefully this will make a huge improvement.

Took grandson and we had to drag him away loved the rabbits and he chose some fish for my tank

Do NOT buy live plants from this shop - the ones we bought were infested with snails and our tank / filtration has never recovered no matter how many times it is cleaned. Turned an enjoyable hobby into a time consuming chore.

Great experience. Needed a playmate for my goldfish. Staff were excellent - knowledgeable and helpful. Will be back for other fish needs

Bought pond liner for our new wooden framed pond that we built from scratch. unfortunately we had to buy the next size up in the liner as there was hardly any stock left. It was rather fiddly and very awkward to fit but we did it in the end😊

Went today for 1st time after the restaurant refit. Not impressed at all. Tables now on different levels, not disabled friendly one bit. Even the outside eating area is a trip hazard for elderly and disabled. All looks nice, but not practical at all. Food was not that great either, I ordered a cheese an onion sandwich, actually got sandwich filler you buy in tubs from all the big stores. Wife had prawn sandwich and we had one portion of chips plus two bottles of diet coke nearly £19. Old cafe was ten times better so won't be visiting again. Waterworld is still great though
