Wow what a place. We had a fabulous visit. So much to see and the actual building the aquarium is housed in is magical. The kids absolutely loved it and were delighted when the octopus made an appearance 🐙

Fantastic Family Aquarium. My 4 year old has Autism and she loved the lighting and touching pool. Lovely tunnel where you can get up close with black tip sharks and a huge turtle. The interactive wave flooring was a massive hit too. We will most definitely be making the 135 mile roundtrip to come back again.

Amazing selection of exhibits to see. Definitely a great day out. All the aquariums are clean disease free with happy looking fish. Overall good selection of marine and fresh water. Ticket price not to bad. It would be nice for a local discount to encourage people who live near by to come on a regular. The aquarium itself is in a Great location overall I would highly recommend.

This is the world’s oldest operating aquarium. I’d give 5 stars to this place. It’s located at a convenient location and worth exploring with kids. We reserved tickets online and was able to enjoy it. We didn’t use the toilets hence not sure the conditions of it. Not sure if parking is available. We came by bus. They have an option to take group photos at a cost.

Beautiful aquarium, young child really enjoyed it. Informative, though would be nice to have few more interactive parts to the tour. I think little over priced for what it is, can comfortably complete the tour in hour and a half. That said would definitely recommend for anyone with children,

The original aquarium, celebrating 150 year in 2022. Great architecture and great exhibits. Travel around learning about the fish and the work SeaLife are doing to ensure these animals thrive in the wild. Pre booking online to beat any queues is easy. One note - like any attraction it can be full of kids. Highlight the tunnel through the tank with Black Tip Sharks and Sea Turtles.

The kids love it here! We always have a great time. However, the building is listed as there isn't much they can do with regards to the tanks, as they are all Victorian. It's very dark in there which some children might find a bit scary. It's also very expensive, again my children love it but we rarely spend any longer than 30mins in the entire place. My 3 year old is only just tall enough to see into most of the tanks. Perhaps some more steps could be put in so smaller children can see the fish? There is a large variety of fish and creatures. Worth a visit if you have a voucher or money off!!

It's a really lovely aquarium which is well run. Made a trip from Sevenoaks to Brighton especially to visit the aquarium and my kids and I were not disappointed. Key highlights were the tunnel were we could see sharks and a massive turtle and to get to touch a star fish. The aquarium isn't very big so don't expect a vast variety of species and themed tanks. However with it being 150 years old, you have to appreciate what it stands for, and the need to maintain some of its history. The fact that it is still a very well run establishment is impressive enough.

Took my partner for his birthday treat and we both loved it. Great talk on turtles and watched them being fed. Lots to see, and not over crowded as we went in school time. High recommend going when it opens and to get up close. Search for vouchers online

Absolutely wonderful! I went on a little solo adventure and loved all the animals! I especially enjoyed the lady who did a talk during the morning feeding. It was so interesting and inspiring! Will definitely be back once the renovations are completed!

A great place to visit. Still under renovation, but plenty to see. A great atmosphere and enjoyed by the whole family...which included teenagers! Would certainly go again, but once the works are complete as it's not close to home for me.

Well what an absolute disappointment. I went with my son and friend. We used the cereal packet tokens.....still cost an absolute fortune. It was busy, there was a wait to get in and pay and then it was packed throughout. And the reason that is is because the place is tiny!! I wasn't expecting the size of the American one but oh lord it was so small. We walked through a few little alley ways with some fish displays. There is one main room with lots of displays and a cafe and again it was small and so again it was packed full of stressful parents with the same pained look on their faces. The cafe was ridiculously overpriced and little choice, but as they have you in there you have little choice but to stomach it as there are no other options. My son enjoyed the jelly fish display and the shark display the most. The walk through the tunnel under the turtles was probably the best bit but again was very short. Maybe spent an hour if that in there. Wouldn't go again, not to the Brighton one anyway. Save your money it's not worth the hype.

Had a fantastic day at Sea Life, it provides a wealth of information as well as entertainment. Their take on the Covid 19 pandemic was fantastic with temperatures taken on entry and ample supply of hand sanitizer. They have a lovely gift shop and small cafe for those wanting to buy anything inside.

Visited here with my 2 young children and we absolutely loved it. Enjoyed the layout and walk through spaces, they particularly like the interactive underwater projection mapping. Due to the history of the aquarium it’s feels very unique compared to others in its style which adds great atmosphere! Staff were all very friendly, especially those at the touch and feel stations.

Nice place, thoroughly enjoyed seeing the zebra sharks up close. The building is very beautiful in it's architecture and there's a nice variety of aquatic animals. It's a relatively small aquarium and you'll walk through in about 2 hours. We had a nice afternoon here.

Good aquarium, interesting facts. I love the fact that it has been incorporated into the stunning building features. The tunnel was good, plenty of different fish and turtles. Had a charming member of staff near the VR approached me and explained the names and back story of the animals. One turtle swims differently due to a collision with a boat and now has special needs. See we aren't too dissimilar to offer species. A few sections were closed. Struggle to spend more than an hour.

Best Sea Life centre I've ever been to. It's huge and really interactive, and the building is gorgeous. Bonus for sharks and massive turtles, as well as a rock pool experience where a sea slug had had a poo.

Great experience. Arrived in time for turtle feeding. Made it much more worthwhile. Not lots to see or do for a 4 year old. He was rushing to get to the next tank, possibly because he saw the arcade games. 😕 The tunnel is amazing, swimming in with the turtle and sharks. Educational and environmental messages are good. 2hours max. Saw a cockroach like creature near the café, so would avoid that. Last time I went was 40+ years ago and it was not much difference. Booking in advance was a good idea. Not too crowded on a Friday afternoon.

Our family had lots of fun walking around the aquarium today. Great displays, easy to access with our pre booked timeslot. They take your temperature on arrival then you're on your way! It's half term and so was busy, difficult to social distance but everyone seemed happy and enjoying themselves. Our highlight were the turtles, they looked majestic. Our 6 year old was beaming the entire time and kept thanking us for taking her, that made the experience all the more better! We will most definitely return.

Lovely experience! We visited here yesterday! Really enjoyed it, the place is laid out really well and different things to see at every corner and very informative. Such a great calming way to switch off from the world for a while, too. We loved the tunnel so you can watch the fish (and turtle!) swimming overhead, so majestic. Such a great thing to do and to support. Will visit again for sure :)

I was super excited to go to Sea Life in Brighton because Sea Life is usually a pretty big place, with loads of things to see. While the building itself is absolutely gorgeous, I found it to be a bit of a let down size-wise. For £17,20 (prebooked online) per person, I thought it'd be bigger, but I'm happy that part of the price goes to Sea Life Trust.

  • 2/5 Hayley 3 years ago on Google
If you have been to London Sea Life you will leave a bit deflated as no where as good or big. Quiet disappointed to be honest. For the cost it is very pricey for what you get compared to London at almost the same cost. Also found social distancing wasn't great so felt uncomfortable walking around with a small child.

  • 2/5 Brad D. 3 years ago on Google
Too busy, lack of Covid controls and staff not present enough to manage everything regarding social distancing. Been a couple of times the last few months, on both occasions there are too many people queuing, not social distancing and staff aren’t around to help manage. Possibly pushing the numbers they allow in, and didn’t feel safe which is a shame given how much fun it is for our toddler daughter. Please Merlin if you read this, get your staff more active apart from just being the check in till. You owe it to yours customers to be more active and help them through.

They won't accept card payments over the phone which seems silly, and the website is a pain to manoeuvre to book but we got there eventually. The place itself is amazing well worth a visit, however again, they won't take cash In the gift shop which became an issue too. Not everyone uses plastic, we nearly had to disappoint the kids at the last hurdle.

I really liked the sealife centre but it was smaller than I thought it would be. Was there with a 2 year old so no chance to stop and read about each fish just look at them then on to the next tank. It took about an hour to get around The walk through was amazing. If it wasn't for social distancing rules I could have stayed watching the fish swim all day

Well worth a visit! Lots to see & do but I would recommend you book for the boat ride and perhaps take some snacks to sit & eat because you may find yourself walking round in just over 1 hour & for the price I think that you should take your time to get your money's worth. Also the parking is along the seafront & is expensive so bear that in mind when visiting & that it gets very busy too. All in all though if you are looking for a nice day out then I would recommend a visit because it's a lovely place to go!

Much shorter than a day out to the zoo, but excellent nonetheless. The retention of much of the original architecture certainly makes for a unique setting to view a nice range of sea life. When paired with a nice dinner afterwards and online ticket prices, it makes for a good time.

Love, love, love this place!!! It's a go to venue for me as I am a childminder and take the children there very frequently. I buy a yearly pass which is affordable and because the children I look after are under 3 they are free so I can go as many times as I want by just showing my pass. They have recently upgraded half of the aquarium and I must say it is very well presented and interesting. There is a cafe too. I have visited the London Aquarium but this one is far better presented I think. The staff are helpful and friendly.

They're very fair, no messing about or pettiness and no hanging around either. Turn up, inspected, done and away. Edit. This review is for something completely different. I have no idea how it ended up here but yes, fin-tastic would sum Sea Life up. Maybe I'd be less enthusiastic about the functioning of Google reviews, though.

Originally first opened in 1872 making it the World's oldest aquarium, this is a great place to visit whatever your age, solo, as a couple or as a family to spend some time learning about all the different species of fish & marine life, the staff are friendly & very knowledgeable to ask any questions you may have, there is a small cafe for refreshments & a souvenir shop to browse around & purchase various keepsakes. You must book a timeslot online prior to arrival, then have your temperature taken before being allowed entry, I booked a 2.15 pm visit not realising that they now close at 3pm which is why I never got to see the boat that several people have mentioned, nor sharks swimming over my head as some areas were closed off, the overhead tunnel I was really looking forward to as that was the main reason I booked as it sounded amazing, that's probably why I got around it all in less than an hour, I can't wait to return once life returns back to normal or in season when everything will be in full swing.

A great experience for the family, filled with... er...sea life. There's a lot on display and it's bigger than you think it is. It has jellyfish, common sea creatures, and manta rays. Shout out to those lovable, smile pufferfishes! It's worth the trip to see them posing for the camera! It's what you expect and it's not that expensive either. Great day out if you're in the area!

Always a good day out with my 10yr old - we have an annual pass so it's good value for us to pop in whenever we're in Brighton. The online reservation system is easy to use and it's pretty easy to socially distance by staggering yourselves at each exhibit. The turtles are stunning and the underwater tunnel is exciting at any age. We particularly enjoy the many challenges and missions they run throughout the year as it gives the trip a focus and there's always something new to learn.

It's a nice sea Life centre. Set in the victorian building, it really is a beautiful environment. There are accessible entrances and you'd need this for buggies/wheelchairs etc. I would appreciate better signage of direction and a map to show where you are. Small cafe on site serving drinks and snacks. Nice to see the ecological projects and interactive opportunities with the staff and animals. Would recommend for families with young children. Pre-book is necessary to ensure you get a time slot allocated (it's every 10mins). Parking is available in several parking areas around the location. Toilets are available at the entrance/end.

Quite disappointed to be honest. Not a lot there anymore. Can’t justify the price! Very over priced we did everything in an hour and a half and we spent 45 mins at the cafe eating lunch. They have closed off a huge section at the back that used to have a lot more tanks. And the tanks for the turtles was way to small! They were just swimming backwards and forwards in a tiny tank! Very upsetting to see. Also disappointed there were no actives for my son to do on a busy Saturday. Won’t be going again

  • 2/5 Kabir B. 2 years ago on Google
Very overpriced for what is on show to be honest. The tanks are OK sized but for some of the larger fish, it's really obvious they are quite distressed in such small tanks. Nice little walk if you're a fan of sea life and don't mind a overpaying a little. Pales in comparison to other aquariums though.

Whats not to love about this place! Building is beautiful, outstanding living facilities for these wide range of fish and our experience was upgraded when we started to talk to Matt, one of the cleaners there who really made our visit memorable, matt gave us so much information and facts that we just wouldn't of come away with without him. We used our Cadbury's buy one get one free tokens and drove from Kent to a park and ride and had the best day. Virtual reality experience was good although at an extra cost, worth it for the experience. Would highly recommend a visit young or old.

A brilliant experience, it's been years since I last visited and I'm pretty sure there used to be a restaurant and a better gift shop but it was a lovely time! I actually learned something and I didn't intend to, so that's got to be a good sign!

A wonderful afternoon visit. Very much enjoyed by the kids and a very educational opportunity for them during the summer holidays. The staff were all very helpful and friendly especially the young American woman, who's name escapes me right now, sorry. I was very impressed with the architecture and lighting which results in a much more immersive experience, more so when you understand the Victorian history of the aquarium. The exhibits were clean and the fish looked healthy and looked after well. We enjoyed a coffee amongst the spectacular interior views of the fish and lighted ceilings.

A fun place to visit for a couple of hours in Brighton! Great for kids, and a fun atmosphere.

Always wonderful fun. Wonderful aquatic life to see which all the children (7-14) love and find fascinating, the underwater tunnel is simply stunning, sharks everywhere and huge turtles! Right next to Brighton seafront, and the Palace pier. They take tesco vouchers too. X

Very good for children to see different fish and they have a big aquarium.

We came here in October half term and had a really great day Good idea to have a look around and see if there are any 2 for 1 deals as you might save a few quid on entry 😉 The building itself is so beautiful and the educational side was really good for our 2 boys. There is an array of different species of fish and a touching pool where you can touch sea anenomaes and also a couple of huge starfish! There's a cool rainforest walk round with lots on see and the biggest leaf cutter ant display which goes in tubes all around and the boys loves filling them around! It's just before you get to the main feature which is the sea tunnel and also the auditorium where you can view the sharks, fish and huge sea turtles. The place isn't massive so we decide to go round 3 times to really make the most of it and spent 3 hours as a consequence Highly recommend

Great place, wasn't greeted on arrival and had to find someone to get the tickets. I can't fault as the staff were brilliant and so were all the facilities. The refreshments inside are also good value for money.

My 6 year old absolutely loved it here! Fabulous displays, very friendly staff only one criticism was on our 1st visit to the toilets there only appeared to be hand soap in 1/3 dispensers... was rectified before we left though. Not too busy and people very respectful of distancing etc. Thanks for a great few hours!!

Location very convenient from the Brighton Pier. We chose family pack with the boat experience and overall it was a nice 2 hours visit. Way better than the London site.

I could have stayed all day. My son and I enjoyed the tunnel. The sharks and turtles a highlight. Joe very welcoming and all staff helpful.

Massively overpriced for what was there. Really dissapointed expected more for the price. 2 adult tickets £42.00 then you had to pay extra for the boat. Was quite busy even for midweek. It is a great day out but just a shame the price is so high.

One of the smaller Sea Life Centres, which is massively restricted in development due to it being a listed building. That said, it is celebrating its 150th year and is the oldest aquarium in the world. Brighton does its best to provide a great experience and has made some great changes in recent years. The architecture in the first hall is beautiful and is enhanced by some great coloured lighting. Slightly on the pricey side, but worth a visit.

This aquarium is on the pricey side, nevertheless it was worth a visit. I simply loved the old setting, the music and the whole ambiance. Perfect visit for a rainy day in Brighton.

I don't think this place is worth the full price tickets but if you get 2 for 1 tickets it makes it worth it. It's a nice building but not much to actually look at. You can be in and out within 30 minutes. Sealife London is better in my opinion.

My visit to Sea Life Brighton was absolutely fascinating. I had the opportunity to learn about how sea creatures live in their natural environment. I experienced an incredible atmosphere beneath the sea. The admission fee for adults was £22, but it's definitely worth every penny. I would not hesitate to go back again!

Fantastic place to visit. I took my three year old, he absolutely loved it. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, they took the time to explain so much to my little boy. It really added to the experience. The venue itself has lovely architecture

Great place to bring our little one, he loved watching all fish for the few hours we were there. Friendly and helpful staff. Can get very warm in some places inside the building.

Was lovely place to visit. Due to Easter holiday it was very busy so we never got to do the touch pool. But we would love to visit again. Kids enjoyed seeing all the sea animals.

Lovely day out and got to see some beautiful aquatic wildlife. We also were lucky enough to arrive when they were feeding the turtles. We had to buy our tickets online as the front desk didn't take bookings on site

Really joyed our experience here overall! It felt a little short, so we went back through a second time once we had looped back to near the entrance - but you can really feel the history of the place. The turtles and sharks were really cool to watch, and we enjoyed being in the day and night tunnel. The staff were great, so helpful, and more than happy to talk about all the marine life, we learned a lot from them. There are also a few cool interactive environments that kind of work, but some of them are a little worn out. Clearly a good experience for children as well as adults, too, with some sections with tiny tunnels for kids. I didn't think the guide at the entrance was worth it, but we're glad we visited, even if just to see the big ol' turtles.

I have visited the Brighton Sealife several times over the past few years, and arguably it’s the most beautiful of all the aquariums I’ve visited - its Victorian architecture makes a lasting impression. As with most Sealife centres, you make your way through a variety of habitats with different themes, as they showcase an array of different sea creatures. From small tiny fish to giant sea turtles, there is large selection of different animals to see. The exhibits that we explored were well put together and had a good balance of information about the animals. I did feel that quite a lot of the enclosures appeared to be closed or under development, and when it’s already quite a small aquarium, it did make quite a big impact. Without rushing around, the whole experience took about an hour. I think that once they’ve got the closed exhibits up and running it would be a more well-rounded experience. Overall, it’s a nice place to explore and spend some time, especially if it’s raining.

An absolutely iconic building and an amazing visit with so many different areas to explore and substantial information, which kept the younger members of our family totally interested. There are other rides you can choose to go on at an extra cost. I do understand that the aquarium has a lot of overheads for the upkeep, and luckily we could just about afford it, but I feel sorry for the families who cannot afford these expensive prices (there were no family deals or reduction for seniors), and therefore will miss out on the wonderful experience.
