Loved it. Medium sized aquarium but plenty of fish & beautiful small sharks. Also has reptiles, lizards, tarantula, turtles, snakes & more. My 2 year old absolutely loved it. You just book online & visit when ready no need to book a specific date u just turn up on the day u want, your tickets are valid for 6 months & u can visit all day, so u can go out to explore & have lunch then go back again as many times as u want. They also have 2 feeding sessions a day so u get to see them eat. All staff are super friendly, welcoming & helpful, phoned before hand for information too & the man I spoke to gave me loads of information & was so polite & friendly & didn't rush me of the phone like some businesses do, it made me want to go even more after speaking to him. Toilets are clean 🚻 (Inc disabled toilets & baby changing) gift shop is a little pricey but some nice stuff. Go u won't regret it. Prices are very fair too.

Visited for my daughters 3rd birthday. She absolutely loved it. Her favourite part was the tunnel and being "under the water" I love how you can take your own green screen photos too which added to the experience. Not expensive either & we had the place to ourselves because it was so quiet. Brilliant time.

It's a nice place and could be seen in 20 minutes. As I have been to other sea life aquariums, this one is very small, not informative or educational, has no sounds for entertainment and is not as exciting to see something new/ different. I don't feel the price was correct either. I wouldn't visit again, especially for that price. It was something different to do in Hastings.

A nice little place and great for children. The usual aquarium you would expect by the seaside, some lovely animals and nice that there are a few snakes etc. as well as the fish. Three stars given because it could do with more interactivity, such as feeds and talks; and the customer service wasn’t great. Unfortunately the woman on the front desk came across quite rude. I can also recommend the 3-in-1 attraction ticket if you want to visit a few places, as this includes the Bluereef Aquarium, Hastings Castle, and Smugglers Cove. Be sure to check opening times as these aren’t open all week.

A brilliant aquarium with great variety of sea creatures and reptiles. It’s a lovely, small aquarium which is well maintained, clean and easy to explore, great for children. We especially loved the little blue cushion starfish - absolutely adorable! The staff were warm and friendly. We visited the aquarium during our staycation in Rye, and it was definitely worth visiting!

Nice and fun little aquarium in Hastings. If you're around town, highly recommended along with Smugglers Adventure. I loved the black tip sharks, and it was great and surprising to see there was a reptile section too! Finally, the staff is super friendly and welcoming - Fred and Liam are AMAZING, thanks guys for such a great job! 👍

Small aquarium in Hastings, very quiet when we visited around midday on a Monday. They had feeding times, where they did a talk about certain fish at certain times. Clean facilities. Gift shop and Cafe available.

Great fun especially for younger children. I think a couple of the tanks are empty so it would be useful if they labelled them up as such instead of letting people crowd round to see the octopus 🐙 which has not been there for months (this is my 3rd visit) in as many months and not seen it. There are steps down and up from the huge perspex pipe that you can walk through and see the fish all around you. This makes it difficult if you have a pushchair and impossible if you are a wheelchair user. I would have thought they could have designed it with ramps rather than steep steps but then I am not an architect so perhaps they couldn't. I would suggest getting an annual pass as it's good value and if you have young kids then you'll be back again. Also it gives you entrance to Hastings Castle and the caves which I think they call smugglers adventure nowadays. The aquarium is not very big so during school holidays it can get very busy so my advice would be visit out if season if possible. Well worth a visit.

Nice , but very small aquarium so do not expect a long activity, does not take long to walk around. The staff are very nice and friendly. Can have a coffee ice cream on site and walk round again. Gift shop toilets on site. Adults approx £12. kids £9

Small but interesting Aquarium. Lots to see. Underwater tunnel not accessible for wheelchair users but you can see all the inhabitants from other viewing windows. Good value for money.

This is a lovely place to visit when in Hastings. The staff were welcoming as soon as we walked in. There's lots of interactive things dotted about for younger children to try out, read and touch. The displays are lovely and all the fish look well looked after there too. Walking through the 'underwater' tunnel and seeing the sharks swimming over your head is amazing. A wonderful way to spend some time.

We visited here as part of the 3 attraction purchase. Its quiet expensive when you have a large family. This was probably enjoyed most out of the 3 attractions. There was several fish tanks to look at and the reptile section is nice. It wasn't busy when we went, on a Saturday afternoon. Takes about 30/40 minutes to walk around, when view all of the tanks. It is quiet a small aquarium but its not bad for what it is. Wouldn't be something we would visit often but maybe come again one day.

Date of visit Wednesday 29th July. What a disappointing attraction. This attraction is far too small and in no way is this reflected in the price of the tickets. On the whole, the experience still did not meet expectations. We were able to complete our visit in under 30 minutes, at a cost to time ratio, this does not provide value for money. We found the displays to be small. During our time there, we found no ‘interactive’ elements to our visit. It would be nice to have staff on hand to point out areas of interest or maybe short educational talks. There is a schedule of feeding, but this is very limited and can be easily missed as there is not enough to keep the children entertained whilst waiting. The tunnel under the tank concept was incredibly short. It is apparent that Blue Reef is trying to emulate similar attractions such as the Sea Life aquarium. However, it would be far better to spend a little extra (for our group size this would be only £30) and to have a far better experience. My recommendation would be to avoid this attraction on your itinerary and look elsewhere at investing in other attractions in Hastings that will be able to occupy more time.

A lovely little place to visit and see a number of different little creatures, we came along as part of a day trip to Hastings and thoroughly enjoyed it! We had planned to visit Blue Reef and Smugglers Adventure, which is nearby, and were pleasantly surprised to see an offer for a "three in one" ticket for these two plus Hastings Castle, which we didn't get to, but did enjoy the first two. Whilst not massive, this is a great little aquarium and well worth the visit - good value for money, especially when combined with the other attractions - you can come and go as you please, although once you've seen everything... well laid out and lots of information.

Well worth the money but don't whizz through! There's lots to see and learn about the different species. Some endangered ☹ Lovely lady at the ticket desk (fair hair tied back). Enjoyed our visit thank you.

the entry price wasn't that bad 12.50 per person doesn't take that long to go around but it's a cute little aquarium, the gift shop prices are quite high though for some things there but had a nice time and my boy enjoyed it

Really nice, enjoyed the visit. Thought it was a small aquarium for the entrance price, but the BBC were filming on this day and it was fascinating to watch the childrens puppet 'Stanley'. And his A to Z visits.

  • 4/5 Oana C. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely aquarium with clean tanks, beautiful creatures, and some amazing exhibits I’ve never seen before, like the giant clam. The kids had a great time admiring the reef fish, sea horses, urchins, cucumbers, star fish, octopus, sharks, etc. I must say fidgety young ones like mine see everything there is to see here in 15 minutes. The family ticket is reasonably priced, and the shop sells a few interesting items. I would have given it 5 stars if the tarantula habitat had been flagged up in the reptile room. I had a terrible fright when I saw it, and I imagine many of the 1 in 20 people who have arachnophobia feel the same. I mean, if hotels can take out the 13th floor because of triskaidekaphobia, family-friendly venues can surely put a sign in a room to warn people that there’s a humongous arachnid in there.

Nice little place for kids, it's small but big enough to see lots of different things.. There's the aquarium but but also other bits for reptiles too.. Easy access with parking and good location around other things to see. Would go again.

It is a lovely aquarium that is located just by the seaside. You can park at the area (at a fee of course), finish the tour, and head to the beach if you want. Friendly staff, although part of the aquarium was under construction when we visited, we still enjoyed the tour. Also, there are lots of eateries nearby and other places to visit all within walking distance.

I love coming here with the littleies, it takes about an hour to amble around but if you time the day right and come and go there is lots to take in, today we were stroking the python in the animal encounter. There are regular displays throughout the day though.

  • 5/5 Leanne W. 7 months ago on Google
Only a small aquarium but think that is perfect, there are some steps to go down then up but other wise it is all flat services. Tickets are reasonable priced and u can use them all day too.

  • 5/5 BABY S. 7 months ago on Google
There are numerous photos available in other reviews, and I must say that this place is truly delightful. I highly recommend paying it a visit when you're in the area. It offers an educational experience, especially for children. However, it's worth noting that younger children might become bored depending on their interests. Apart from that minor consideration, there's a wealth of marine life to explore, and the aquariums are quite spacious with a lot to see. I would suggest taking your time to leisurely stroll through the exhibits and read the information about the various types of sea life. Rushing through it won't do justice to the experience, as you could complete the visit in just 10 minutes if you do so. Additionally, it's convenient to purchase your tickets online about an hour before your planned visit since they offer all-day tickets. Furthermore, there's parking available in the Rock and Ore car park located beside the Blue Reef Aquarium. Enjoy your visit!

We visited the aquarium while on holiday, and so glad we did! Lovely little aquarium, the sting rays seemed to want to get up close and personal. We all loved the shark tunnel 🦈 We took our 8 month old twins and they seemed to really enjoy themselves. Baby changing toilets were large enough to fit a double pram in, which is great! All very clean and tidy. The café attached was nice too.

  • 5/5 Jean D. 8 months ago on Google
Myself and little granddaughter got there early but still busy, but it is summer. She liked to see all the fish swimming about in the big tanks. We loved the tunnel with fish swimming above. We walked quite quickly round, you can take as long as you like. Then a nice cuppa next door.

  • 4/5 Karen B. 8 months ago on Google
Despite its size, there is a surprising variety of things to see, including feeding times, and your ticket is valid all day if you need to leave and come back. You can save money by buying a 3 in one ticket for the aquarium, Smugglers Adventure and Hastings Castle.

  • 3/5 Ross B. 7 months ago on Google
Read a few reviews about this place before going so didn't expect much upon arrival. You can easily do this aquarium in 20 mins (if you don't read all the informative signs about the fish) However unlike some places, you are welcome to come back and visit throughout the day to watch the staff feed the fish. Nice range of fish on display even a little tropical reptile/critter area. Staff very friendly and will help you if you want more information. Few steps inside that you can't seem to get around if you want to do the whole aquarium, although they might have a way around that if you are in a wheelchair.

  • 5/5 Maaike V. 8 months ago on Google
Really enjoyed our visit in April. There is a lot to see and do. Not to big, so perfect for little kids, they even have little stepping stools for them! Not really accessible with a stroller or wheelchair. Really nice visit and very well kept! Parking is very close and a walk to the old town is also really nice. There is also a small nice café.

  • 5/5 S D. 2 years ago on Google
A great Aquarium with an incredible variety of sealife. It's TARDIS like, with a huge number of tanks in what seems externally like a relatively small building. The fish tanks are spotless and well kept.

  • 5/5 Gus F. 10 months ago on Google
With something fascinating around every corner, from sharks and rays that poke their heads out the water to look at you to tarantulas, scorpions , giant clam shells, river turtles and all sorts of fish, this visit was short but sweet. Its compact but was perfect for a 4 year old’s attention span.

  • 3/5 Antonio F. 1 year ago on Google
Aquarium which is located at far end of Hastings beach, small attraction which takes aprox 15 mins to do , best bit is the underwater tunnel, which has some sharks and various other large fish, i liked the fish tank with mante rays, overall ok but not as big as I thought, prices ok and has a small gift shop. Location was its main issue as should be nearer to the main promenade and a bit hidden away.

  • 4/5 Phil H. 9 months ago on Google
A compact but neat, tidy and interesting aquarium. A day ticket lets you revisit multiple times on the day which is handy with young children as the first time they will likely run through the attraction in about 10 minutes. Good range of aquatic life including tropical and also local species

  • 5/5 Seagull R. 1 year ago on Google
Really nice aquarium ! Not the biggest but I believe for some kids its just enough. The price is a bit expensive if you think that you are not spending more than 30 minutes in your visit even if you comeback in the same day especially because the toy shop is really expensive, London prices! But in general is a nice place for kids.

  • 3/5 Lady Sarah-Jane P. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely staff, healthy fish but it's all over so soon.. Expensive for a family, even though they other for you to come back all day.

  • 5/5 Bubblegumpops13 2 years ago on Google
Great little aquarium. Staff were very knowledgeable and it was nice to hear all the different facts about the fish at feeding time. It is quite small but benefits are that you can return as many times as you like that day and there are enough tanks to keep little ones occupied for a good while.

The aquarium part of it is decent with clean tanks and lots of information. However the toilet was overflowing and dirty, and the cafe, even though advertised as open, had no one around to serve food so after 10 minites of waiting we left and went elsewhere for this.

Great layout and tunnel with the sharks who loved to swim past (show-offs). Great that you can return unlimited on your ticket for the day.

  • 4/5 Graham F. 3 years ago on Google
For a smaller aquarium this still packs in plenty. Its tucked out the way along Hastings seafront. But worth a trip with the kids, and good value if done with the castle and smugglers cave.

  • 4/5 Bolu B. 3 years ago on Google
The aquarium has nice fish to see. Although due to COVID restrictions, some parts have been boarded off which made the experience shorter.

  • 5/5 Jennifer 3 years ago on Google
It is not the biggest aquarium but does have some cool fish and a MASSIVE octopus. There is a tunnel though a tank, however I went in with a buggy and noone advised of the steps. Was slightly awkward. Also one ticket gets you in more than once a day which is great too.

  • 5/5 Daniel W. 3 years ago on Google
Not as big as other aquarium but had plenty of fish to see, good atmosphere and friendly staff.

  • 5/5 Gavin H. 3 years ago on Google
A really great aquarium, lovely variety of fish and not too big that little ones will get fed up. The staff were really great and your ticket gives you entry as many times during the day as you like. Allow 30-40 mins minimum going around but you can certainly spend longer.

  • 5/5 Mark T. 3 years ago on Google
It's not the biggest aquarium in the world. But the price is right. One ticket and you can.leave and return the same day if you want to pop back for an event. The displays are brilliant and I know the fish and reptiles are in captivity, but the aquarium is playing their part in keeping the species around for our kids and their kids to appreciate. Give it a look, I hope you won't be disappointed. My 5 year old and I really enjoyed the walk around. Here are some pics my daughter snapped on her way round.....

Didn't have to qué to get in which was good but took under half hour to walk round, cost us £40 plus parking. Very disappointed price wise and time spent there .. water tanks looked dirty and the place generally looked run down. Which is a shame. Staff were nice at the desk and social distance aspect we felt rushed around as people waiting behind to view each tank

Lovely to come back to the first aquarium i ever went to as a child. Its lovely to see a variety of animals including some reptiles! I absolutely love that at the end of your journey around the aquarium you can take a photo on the booth and impose a background to suit. The place was well kept and good precautions in place regarding covid safety. The gift shop offers a wide range of options to suit small gifts and big spenders. The staff when i visted were very pleasant and informative of safety measures and animal feeds taking place. Overall a really lovely experience and i cant wait to come back again soon!

👍👍 A great few hours spent here, we did the adventure gold and although it was really busy we didn't seem to have to wait for anyone, and one of us (not me) managed to score a free game! Brilliant idea though. I did manage a hole in one on one of the greens.. more dumb luck than anything as I averaged...
