One of the top ranked places to go for a drink and meal this side of the water. Very friendly and helpful staff, quality food and fabulous environment with accessible entry for wheelchairs and a large car park. Impeccable cleanliness, and decor make this a guaranteed pleasurable meal for any family.

Picked this place at random as we were traveling from Manchester to Birkenhead for a gig at the future yard ( The lottery Winners ). It’s not very often I say this, the staff were very pleasant the pub itself is very nice, now to the food, four of us all dined and none of us could fault it. It’s no doubt one of the best pub meals I’ve had in a long long time and I’ll be back to try the skewers πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹well done πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Great lunch here, chose skewers and a side lots of options to pick from prawns, halloumi, etc and different sides such as chips, rice, pitta etc. Food was delivered quickly and also had coffees that were lovely.

A very nice meal. My wife and I shared a platter, a couple of beers and coffees. The food was excellent and the service was friendly but a bit inexperienced. I would definitely visit again.

Pub grub, but completely blown away. Pizza excellent. Belly pork very good too. Nice and neat and tidy, appeared very clean. Additionally top marks earned because of the service (Kyle) which was flawless. Really attentive and friendly. Top stuff

Been here a few times over this year and always good food and good service. Just enjoyed a fantastic family meal for 6 of us on Boxing Day. It was a set price for a 3 course menu with plenty of choice for everyone. Could not fault the food or the service and will certainly be returning during 2023 and looking to book again for next Boxing Day too. Thank you! 😊

We came over to this area for few days away ( from West Yorkshire) stayed at local hotel, we saw the chimneys on our return to our hotel and thought it looked nice we will go there tonight, well let me tell you it was a decision we won't regret, the food was like ambrosia! food of the gods perfect in taste presentation, my Taste buds did a merry dance with all the flavours I had meat feast pizza with Belgian fries, the wife had chicken breast again the chicken was unbelievable so good was our food we called again tonight I'm having the slow cooked belly pork, again completely faultless chicken again beautiful real shame this is not our local πŸ₯Ί

I absolutely loved the whole experience here. The ambience struck the perfect balance of being modern and stylish yet understated. I particularly liked the menu, several dishes appealed to me (so another visit is a must). The staff were great, pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable, thanks to all, especially our server, Kate.

Mark served us today and was fab - friendly and helpful. Massive bonus for me, although not advertised the kitchen is peanut/tree nut free! I was able to have whatever I wanted off the menu without having to substitute anything. We had starters and mains and were far too full to even consider dessert. Everything was delicious - I highly recommend the mackerel pate and the forrestiere (sp?) chicken.

Molly was our waitress at lunchtime today and she was friendly, smart and totally professional. We both had Steak/Merlot Pie with spring onion mashed potato, veg and gravy. Absolutely delicious. Varied dessert menu but too full, perhaps next time. Definitely recommend.

Came here to try out the Sunday dinner. We were impressed. The trio of meats was well cooked and nicely presented with fresh vegetables. In addition, a side of greens was a welcome addition. Great customer focused service .

ambiance amazing. find not so much. mine and my friends was good. a salmon dish. my friend's husband had sticky chicken. the portion was tiny. and the price you paid didn't reflect the size of the meal. we actually stopped in route to dropping them off and he went to the chippie. food wasn't cheap, spent less in better places

Good for vegans, accessible, comfortable and friendly. Several vegan options on the restaurant's menu, including the butternut squash and chickpea burger I had - lovely! They have soya and oatmilk, so hot drinks are no problem. The staff are very friendly and helpful, service was very fast. There are four steps up to the main entrance and a number of sets of steps internally, but also three ramp entrances, so it may well be possible to do the whole visit on the flat. Toilets are pleasant, very clean, with an accessible toilet, again on the flat. Prices are very reasonable. Surroundings are generally classy and comfortable (with the exception of an unpleasant display of antelope skulls high on one wall!) in a wonderfully Gothic building. We will definitely be returning, highly recommended.

We visited for drinks about 12 months ago, when The Chimneys first reopened following a very extensive and attractive refurb. At the time, we were somewhat dismayed: the spaces felt hugely over-lit and lacking in atmosphere, despite tasteful furnishings and finishes etc. So we never returned, despite fully intending to come back for a weekend brunch. Today, we popped in for lunch on a whim and were delightfully surprised. There was a buzz for a midweek session (they offer a set lunch that’s good value), service was v professional and our food was rather good (certainly by Wirral pub food standards, eg. I preferred the menu to The Red Fox). Glad to see decent vegetarian and vegan options. We are coming back when they have the cosy fires lit (everybody round here seems to be waiting for Ian the sweep!). Thank you.

Food was delicious. Perfect portions. Had three courses. Don't usually. Hannah was a lovely server. Ambience fantastic. Expensive but worth it for now and again. Cocktails not good, though

We had a lovely meal and the food was delicious. The puddings are massive so make sure you leave room if you fancy any! I’ve attached a picture of the pavlova to give you an idea. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were only in the area for one night but would definitely come back again. Thank you so much.

Absolutely fabulous food as always. Definitely our go to place for a special event, or evening out with friends. Quite literally the only place I would pay for a Sunday lunch. Charlie served us today, and was polite and attentive without being intrusive. Thanks Charlie πŸ‘

Lovely lunch with friends to celebrate my birthday. Food was fantastic - highly recommended the Sunday roast (& any of the desserts)! Service from Will was spot on; attentive but not pushy, friendly, helpful & we had a giggle with him too. We’ll be back ;D

Good parking and tidy car park. Clean and bright entrance, clean tables and very helpful, friendly staff. Atmoshere good and room warm. Good menu, 1 guest vegetarian, we both enjoyed our food. Chips are extremely tasty and hot, cooked perfectly. Didn't feel rushed. Food reasonably priced depending what you like. Very enjoyable experience and will definitely visit again. Well done Chimneys for a well deserved 5* visit.

Went for Sunday morning brunch. Booked but didn't need too. Decent amount of Menu options and prices pretty fair. Were told that we couldn't order any of the dishes with pancakes though (around a third of menu) as they'd sold out. Surely they're not too difficult to make?? (Egg, flour, butter, milk?)

We came as a party of 7, 5 adults and 2 children. One of the adults required a gluten free meal and the staff were very friendly and assisted her with her choice of food. The children’s menu went down very well as did the menu for the adults. Everyone enjoyed their food the only disappointment was there was no sticky toffee pudding!!

First visit for us on family recommendation. Lovely place, nice decor & lots of natural light, nice outdoor area & dog friendly too! Staff were attentive, professional & very pleasant. Food was lovely, plenty of choice on menu for food & drinks. It was busy when we first arrived for lunch but that didn't affect the excellent & timely service we received. Will be back!

Lovely meal and friendly staff, looks great since the refurbishment. I'd recommend booking in advance though as they seem quite busy (in a good way!). Plenty of free parking outside and a bar area if you don't want a meal. I'd personally recommend the beer battered fish and chips.

We were quite happy to get back to The Chimneys after 2 years! When walking in and looking around we were very pleased with what they've done with the renovation and decor. You can tell it's gone slightly a bit more upmarket but retains the country pub, rustic feel. Staff were friendly and prompt in seating us in some very comfy chairs and table. The food & drinks are slightly more upmarket (also in prices) but to be expected with the great food quality, choices, taste and presentation of it, we certainly didn't mind paying more. I couldn't fault the attention we got from the staff, they looked after us and were right there in serving us. Very impressed! We look forward to becoming semi-regulars again along with friends and family joining us from time to time. We really enjoyed our first visit back & highly recommed The Chimneys.

Delicious food, my husband and I had the Sunday roast. He had the vegetarian option and I had the beef which was very tender and tasty. The gravy is really delicious. The service was good. Staff friendly and helpful.

Nice eatery conveniently located with plenty of free parking. We turned up on a Wednesday evening about 1930 without a reservation and it was busy. However there was a table available and we were served by Carol who did an excellent job. No long waits for service and a ready smile. Fully recommended.

What a wonderful place to visit. Just been completely renovated. The menu is varied and excellent cask ale. Food was truly sensational. Served with a smile. The pizza was far better than I expected it to be. Will look forward to visiting again soon.
