Could be so much better. Attractive dining room and enticing and good value Sunday menu. (Caution that the regular midweek menu is ridiculously overpriced for the type of venue.) Off to a stuttering start with three staff not wanting to assist or greet us as we waited at the desk. Eventually seated but staff shortage with only one waitress for a rapidly filling room became silly and frustrating. Real issue though is the quality of the food. A truly promising steak on the children's menu looked good but simply could not be sliced. Attempts by two adults failed and resulted in bring left on the plate. A let down for an outlet claiming to be for beef eaters!

Attached to the Premier Inn, and the place to eat food when you stay here. Staff are great and friendly but many people are in this part of the world. Good food hot and serves quickly. Ideal for what we needed after a long drive to the Wirral. Good links to Heswall and other areas of the Wirral and through the tunnels to Liverpool.

Went for lunch today. Very quiet inside. Manager told us that there may be a delay getting food as they were short staffed. Though we didn't wait long. I ordered 3 fish selection which had no chips or anything as it had spinach in it(?). My wife had a steak, no chips but salad. Food arrived looking sad. The salad straight out of bag. No peppers or onions tomatoes just sad lettuce. On my wife's plate a dried up tiny flat cap mushroom and half a tomato. I ordered a rocket salad with parmesan shavings. Came as it said in a very small side bowl with 3 parmesan shavings on it. Cost of meals and 2 soft drinks £36.74 I don't mind paying but for what it was here it is a rip off. Manager didn't ask if food was alright. Sure he knew what he would be told. Lack of staff shouldn't mean lack of quality. If you want to be ripped off go to the Clegg Arms

Poor worn out facilities. Inattentive staff. Salad starter was a long keafed lettuce cut in half lengthways a few bits of something over the top and a splash of dressing for £5 rip off. Even when challenged the staff member agreed but did not get manager to come and talk to us. Would hzve expected cost reduction. Rest of meals so so. Desserts were minimal availability but not on list of things not available. Totally disappointed. 11 of us won't be going again soon pity weve been going there for 30 years.

We had a buffet here for a number of guests. We had plenty of time to ask questions and they catered well for allergies. The buffet was ample, food hot and on time. The dessert plate was empty and was well presented. Thanks 😊

Booked for a table of 10 , for a birthday ! Friday night , so pleased to get in on a Friday night with a large table , 3 kids and 7 adults only one bottle of wine and cost us £221 , great value if the food was edible ! Menu looked stunning and we found it hard to decide , possibly be the worst food I have had in 20 years flat mushrooms filled with tons if melted cheese and garlic, on dry bread and microwaved raw mushrooms, spinach and ricotta cannelloni was cut into 9 squares with sauce or cheese , , it would take me to long to comment on every course and every meal but they were horrendous, service was good but microwave technicians in the kitchen , so disappointed, will never return, no wonder it was empty . Why write a beautiful tempting , varied menu then employ people that can’t cook , beggars belief !!! Spend the money on chefs not cheap labour and you will have a valid business! By the way I make a conscious effort to only write positive reviews however , I feel so strongly about how bad the food was for the money , that please don’t be conned

No wonder I could get a late booking for mothers day here. Greated with a dirty carpet at the door. A manager who wasn't really bothered when we arrived. Poor service, no white zinfandel wine in the pub, although features in 2 of the 4 drinks on mother's day menu. Staff member who was not old enough to drink , poor service and absolutely no thought or presentation in the food. I was looking for somewhere to take a group of 20-30 people for a night out, as we went here a few years ago and had a good night, so thought why not try it out on mother's day, but won't be going back. Staff asked about allergies but server had no understanding of gluten free and offered vegan instead. Drinks served 1 by 1, with several minutes in-between each drink. I was only one out of 3 to have a starter. No presentation at all. I had, I think it was called popcorn florets. Which is deep fried in batter cauliflower. Literally on a large dinner plate was plonked several pieces of tasteless cauliflower and a small pot of BBQ sauce. No condiments on the table either. Main courses, I had steak. It was well cooked on one side and rare on the other, but I'd asked for medium/well. Another piece of steak was served but a different cut of meat. Served with tomato, 1 mushroom , some rocket, chips but no other vegetables like peas. Then charged 1.99 for a sauce to go with My steak. Oh I had to go to the manager at front of house to complain about my steak, as no one came and asked was everything OK, well not until I had sat down again. Like he had been told to come, but he wasn't our server. Fish was cooked on one side, not very well on other and skin still on. Roast dinner, chicken, all on the bone! We didn't bother staying for coffee or desserts. 2 courses on mother's day was 17.95, so other 2 mains were priced from normal menu. But apparently computer automatically put the cheapest item for the mother's day offer on the bill, and chaeged me off main menu for my steak. It was only a couple of pounds, but I made them change it. The manager ignored me as we walked out, but did acknowledge my mum and her friend.

A family friendly restaurant serving good food in a pleasant atmosphere.I would advise to book in advance if eating out during the evening as it does get busy. A play area for the children is at the rear of the restaurant.Plenty of free off road parking.Spacious interior so ideal for customers who are in wheelchairs.Clean toilets friendly staff.Well worth a visit and worthy of my 5* review so don't just take my word for it,try a meal or drinks in here yourself.

Firstly I would like to compliment them on their Breakfast. Freshly cooked and excellent quality. The staff were lovely . Unfortunately the dinner was almost inedible. The lamb chops were tough .what they did to the potatoes I've no idea but they tasted revolting. My husband could not eat the sweetcorn it was so overcooked . We left feeling hungry and disappointed. Would definitely not recommend dinner there.

Great service, lovely waitresses. Manager not very engaging. Table was dirty even though it had been set for new customer. We had to ask for it to be cleaned. Absolutely awful meals . There were 4 of us only one meal was decent . Other 3 were inedible. Wouldn't go back again . Update: I did go back , my granddaughter wanted to play on the outdoor play area . We decided to try the breakfast . Lovely lady greeted us . They weren't serving outdoors as short of staff. We opted for the continental breakfast , help yourself . You can have an all you eat cooked breakfast , looked delicious. But We all enjoyed the continental, fresh, lots to chose from . Great price .

Such a shame we have been once before and because our first visit was brilliant we came tonight and it was completely different. Took 1 hour and 45 minutes to just get a starter and the starter was incomplete missing parts off and unlike the first time we came we were not advised of them being sold out of anything so ordered anyway. We had to ask for a refill on our cokes that took a while to arrive as well, as we had our 4 year old daughter with us we just gave up and paid for what we’d had and left without the rest of the meal. Has left us a little put off and can’t say I’d return anytime soon. We weren’t offered anything as way of apology either. The first time we ate here the waitress was so attentive and nothing was too much trouble for her and all the food arrived as described and on time, she also kept our glasses full and constantly checked we were ok so that time was a 5 star. This time it’s definitely not!

£14 pound for the picture below, cremated onion rings, dirty menus and dirty tables, Probably about 8 customers in today, so busy isn’t a excuse. Avoid

Very disappointed. Haven't been on over 20 years. Decor has ruined it's historic interior. Booked 45 mins prior only to be handed a long list of food not available including lamb roast. Service with disconnected and disheartening non caring attitude. So we left and won't be returning.

Called in for lunch today and the service was excellent. The lovely waitress who was Polish was helpful, efficient and really pleasant, going the extra mile. Other pubs should take note as the service at the Clegg arms was superb

Best customer service anyone could ask for. Michelle needs a raise, she's so polite, hard working and friendly! I am rarely at home as always working away, but she made me feel like I was at home. Probably the best Beefeater experience I've had, if I'm ever in the area ill definately be stopping here again. Thanks Michelle!

Great night with family. The food was faultless but the service was mediocre. What really let the place down was the disgusting mess in the ladies toilets. Paper everywhere including the disabled one and something rather vile in another. I do have pictures but it's not the place to post them as I've complained to Whitbread already. When I told the staff behind the bar they really didn't seem interested. Shame really as its a nice pub.

The is really friendly and fortunately we arrived when it was quiet, so had a table in the conservatory available. The menu was really varied. I opted for a rib & chicken combo, my partner had a roast dinner and my daughter had gammon. All were delivered quickly, were well presented and great size portions. Pricing was competitive (£55 for these 3, including drinks) and we left no room for pudding.

We have eaten here in the past and it has been brilliant. This evening was not great. We booked and arrived at 6,30pm nice table, nice atmosphere, but there was something different. Staff seemed to be over run but wasn't that busy, we got our meal at 8pm, and they had forgotten my 8 year old daughters meal! My burger was actually really nice, but over done with charcoal. The chicken my partner had..... was burnt and not even that edible. A huge amount of fries to fill the plate. So she basically had chips for her meal. With 25%off for blue light discount, I didn't feel we needed to complain, but our bill was £55 if it hadn't of had 25%discount, I would of complained. It has unfortunately put us off now. 😬

They let us do a walk in which was very kind of them. The breakfast food however wasn't up to a decent standard so overall a let down. Bacon was plastic, sausages were powdery!? Mushroom were dry instead of oil fried, out of hash browns and the toast is part of the self serve which we didn't realise until after. Service was great! except for one very stressed member of staff but we will let that slide and give it a five overall for being accommodating and friendly.

A friend took me here for lunch as we were in the area. I had steak and chips with sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Both were really nice. Hope to eat here again in the future

Waitress had a bad attitude and barely spoke. Half of the menu items unavailable alot of other tables were leaving. One table next to us had to send the food back because it was cold. Food was pretty gross. No interaction with our children, christmas menu was not christmassy at all. We were on a deal with premier inn yet nothing was explained to us so bill was incorrect. One other lady staff member was helpful when sorting the bill for us but the young girl couldn't be bothered. There was a poor lady crying in the toilet because they had messed up an order for her and a big table. We had breakfast already booked for the next day and after the evening were not looking forward to it... Luckily when attending breakfast all of the staff were friendly and helpful so this was a much better experience.

We enjoyed a really nice meal today. The food was great. Dad’s steak was perfect. Mum’s Christmas meal was lovely. My mix of starters was nice. Friendly staff. We were appalled however at the behaviour of two very senior diners on the next table. They were tended to by the waitress during their meal, were asked if their meal was okay, they said it was. They then waited until the end of their meal after eating all of their fish lunch and then made a complaint about how the food was cooked. That it was ‘over cooked and raw’ which in itself is a contradiction in terms. It appears that the sane couple came in to this restaurant last week and did exactly the same thing with their mixed grill - making a complaint at the end of their meal. They called in the chef who explained that the manner in which he had cooked the fish was how he cooked it all over the world. The customers still did not relent until they were told that they would not have to pay for their meals. They then put £5 on the table and wished the staff happy new year and left. Their behaviour was absolutely appalling and the staff handled it really gracefully and respectfully. I sincerely hope that this couple are banned from ever entering this establishment again. We felt really sorry for the staff and look forward to our next meals n the Beefeater 👍🏻

Had a good pre Christmas Dinner, food was a lot better than was expected & thoroughly enjoyed our two course Christmas Dinner. Baked cheese wreath starter & Turkey Dinner cooked to perfect, with good sized portions so big we were unable to eat pudding. Overall, it was a good experience. The service was okay, but the pub area we were in was cold. Would recommend.

Decent cooked breakfast but very grubby. It’s always a peeve when there’s an empty restaurant and you’re sat next to the only other family in there with screaming kids. Friendly service but quite slow.

Had breakfast there for 7days ,no standard, bacon looked and tasted like it is boiled not grilled, sausages one morning where cooked properly next morning they were soggy as where the hash browns. The only 2 items that were up to standard were the black puddings and the fried eggs. There were 2 mornings they ran out of plates for the continental breakfast and glasses for juice The place looks like it could do with a referb

Fantastic food!!! Roast dinner is huge, enough to feed two Lasagna is very cheesy, which is good, extra sauce for my fries!

Been the Glegg numerous times and the food has been excellent. Went today and the food was so cold very poor im how it was cooked, steaks full of fat, burnt fries. Brought out 4oz steak when I had ordered a 8oz, whilst also bringing out the wrong sauces which again had to be sent back as they were cold. Normally the food here is well worth the price but today this was certainly not worth the £100 that it cost for three people. Spoke with the waiter who was lovely and apologised ss this problem was not her fault and she informed us that she would report this back. Overall really unhappy with food here today.

The food was nice enough but not particularly exciting. Kids portions are pretty small, a handful of chips and a spoonful of beans, didnt fill my little one. A bit pricey for what you get but nice enough.

Pleasant Beefeater restaurant situated next door to a Premier Inn. Staff very friendly and helpful dealing with a largish party of 20 of us. Good on site parking and an outdoor play area for the children.

We arrived having not booked a table but greeted promptly by who I believe was the manager. Very polite and welcoming. We got the impression very quickly that there was only the barman and this girl working. They both gave excellent service considering they seemed short staffed and our food was great. I did ask for the managers name, I apologise if incorrect but I believe it was Alesha. What a good job you are doing for The Glegg Arms. Well done.

Two visits, the first one was slightly less impressive as the wait for service was very long and on both visits the chicken had a pinkish hue in places... Not to the extent that it was undercooked but it should have spent longer in the cooker. The steak was delightful but again, slightly overcooked. I'm putting this down to an issue in the kitchen that left the chicken underdone and the steak overdone. However, the flavours were still lovely. The desserts were divine, the chocolate dome is something I'll remember for a long time. Staff were beyond friendly and incredibly helpful! Five stars on the cumulative effect of two visits.

Me and my wife had a meal at Glegg Arms (Beefeater). This not first time we've complained here. They sat us at a table in the conservatory area but right away we noticed it was very cold. We complained about it 3 times. We asked to be moved but nothing was done. To rub it in the food was cold. The manager didn't seemed bothered. And didn't offer any compromise overall very disappointed in service and attitude.
