I’ve been here twice in the past year - first time, hair in food. Second time, two hairs in food. Man Wah has nearly been closed a number of times over hygiene. They were awarded 1/5 stars because of it, but now have a miraculous 4/5!. Has always been filthy and if you like food poisoning Russian roulette, this place is perfect for you.

Such a busy chip shop and there's nearly always a queue. We tend to get chop suey rolls and a large portion of chips...which are huge. Meals can be a bit hit and miss though, so we always order meals from another takeaway in the area. Man Wah only do pick up orders too and do not deliver. The chicken curry is always good though and is nice and spicy. The mushroom omelettes are also decent, and huge. Salt and pepper chips are good too.

Not been to Man-Wha for a number of years, remember it being a pretty descent chinese.Tonight, we visited, ordered four Chinese meals and a portion of chips, for a family Birthday treat. The place looked run down to be honest, not like I remember. The food was in one word...vile! It was inedible. The Chicken chow mein was swimming in grease, with what looked like strips of processed chicken on the top. Overcooked noodles,no taste other than grease and a strange fish taste to it. Could not eat it. The Chicken Fried Rice was overcooked rice in huge lumps, it was definitely NOT fried! More like boiled rice. Barely any chicken, again that was processed, definitely not fresh chicken. Plain, bland, and Luke warm, went straight into the bin. Chips....were disgusting. Like McDonald's chips fried up, full of eyes and black spots, so greasy it was like mush! The whole meal was inedible. Spent over £20, for it all to go in the bin. Avoid at all costs, unless you like grease all over your meals. No Food Hygiene Ratings on the door or window says it all. (I gave it 1 star, because I could not add no stars)

Massive portions, too much for one really. Can't complain though, nice food.

Depends on what food you buy from here really. I bought crispy chilli beef from here last week and it was more like soggy chilli beef. Usually other choices are okay but abit expensive for the quality of food. The best part is the portions they are a decent size. There is almost always men claiming to be homeless outside the chippy though when they aren't, they live in the flats down the road they can sometimes hound you so stay away from them.

ManWah is the best Chinese chippy for a long way around. They are quick, fresh and reasonably priced. Best chicken fried rice and liver dinners for miles!

I visited this fish and chip shop after doing a spot of beach fishing. I found my meal to be excellent and the curry was very nice in fact its probably the best curry in the area.

Childhood chippy, have always gone here, portions are huge!

Ordered sweet and sour chicken usually lovely from here but tonight the batter was far to thick and the sauce was horrible,put me off completely.

When the chips are fresh they are really nice but a lot of the time they are warm ups and full of grease for me it's a 50/50 chippy so the food is hit and miss Been there again today and the last three times now the chips have been warm ups, if you like a massive portion of warm ups this is the chippy for you, but that's me done now not going there again

I had chicken and chips the chicken was very juicy and tender but the chips were hard and dry thats why the four stars

Excellent chips salt and pepper chicken and fried rice. 9/10 curry sauce complete disappointment. Let the side down. Sort your curry sauce and we have a serious Chinese chippy on our hands

Great little chippy... friendly staff.. Nice food, plenty of choice. Bear in mind when ordering, the portions are monstrous, 1 portion of chips will easily stretch to 3 or 4 people, I have made the mistake of ordering a large portion in the past, won't do it again lol. Overall, a great chippy ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
