Called in today for a cocktail on our journey around Liverpool. Great cocktails and service. The venue is very aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommend!

Lovely little place in Liverpool. Very close to bold street and lots of places around to eat and drink. Staff was super nice and if you are feeling upto a wonderful conversation speak to the night receptionist for some fun and interesting ideas about technology. It feels like a complete speakeasy little hotel that is hidden behind a blue door!

We stayed here for 3 nights in June. The hotel was lovely and clean but the staff is what really stood out, they were so accommodating and helpful. We arrived early and knew our room wouldn't be ready but they took care of our luggage and even delivered it to our room before we arrived back. I had a couple of requests during our stay and nothing was a problem at all. Every staff member was great but Luke and Meg in particular couldn't have been more helpful. Would really recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back. :)

Really nice place this. Ideal city centre location. On the small side but that goes in its favour. Rooms are boutique like. Maybe not to everyone's taste but I loved it. Few minor issues with room decor. Bed very comfy. Need more tea/coffee supplies in room (sachets) Great staff. Nice little bar. Great breakfast both quality and quantity. Would recommend.

Had a wonderful Sunday night at the lock and key, for my wife's birthday. Contacted the hotel and spoke to Meg, who went out of her way to be helpful in arranging flowers to be delivered in the morning. All staff were really lovely, the bar was busy and a good atmosphere, A large spacious room with everything we needed.

I had the most wonderful stay with a friend. Central location, lovely newly refurbished roomy rooms. Luke and Meg were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning. I was slightly concerned about the hotel being attached to the bar and our room being on the ground floor. But all rooms were very secure and the room was so calm and quiet I had one of my best night's sleep in a while.

Two things I liked. First is the location. Everything I needed to go were all walking distance except for places that I needed to go through bus. Second, I was able to leave my bag after checking in as I still have more time to roam around before my train.

We had a fantastic one night stay for a birthday celebration. The staff couldn't do enough for us and it was the perfect location to head into town for a meal and drinks. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning too. The bar also serve some of the best cocktails in the city too, which helps.

Very good stay for one night right on the edge of the Concert Square party carnival and Liverpool One but not close enough that you don’t have peace and quiet. Staff are amazing. Friendly and so helpful. The bar is.nice but a shame food finished at 2.45 - but it’s not like there aren’t plenty of other options nearby. Breakfast was great. Wide choice, interesting and flawlessly delivered. Our only quibbles were in the room. It was a lovely room, big and spacious. But no bedside tables, long mirror or plug near the dressing table, and no towel rail in the bathroom. Shower was good but I’d have preferred a door on it! Very good place which with a few additional tweaks in the room would be 5 stars no question.

Had a lovely stay with my partner. Check in was very pleasant and easy. Luke (We hope that is his name) checked us in efficiently. There had been an issue with our room type being overbooked so we were upgraded to a bigger room. The room was lovely and had everything we needed. The tablet at the side of the bed made it easy to contact reception if needed. We went to the bar in the evening expecting to be there for a couple of drinks but Aine was amazing and we ended up staying the whole night. She was very personable and made us feel like we had made a friend by the time we left! The atmosphere was lovely and the live music was a great touch. Made the night fly by! Drinks were very reasonably priced and the cocktails were made to perfection. Breakfast was delicious and we were looked after by Luke again. We are already planning to return and have recommend to family who enjoy visiting Liverpool for a boozy night! Thanks again everyone at Lock & Key!

A party of 6 stayed at the hotel last Friday. We were made to feel SO welcome by Luke and his staff. Great hotel, great location, great breakfast too. We stayed at the rear of hotel which was very quiet comfy big bed. Luke went above and beyond and is a credit to the hotel. Thank you x

Stayed here for 1 night, we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Room was nice, modern. Unfortunately found some chewed chewing gum spat into the bin, not pleasant! The bathroom fan was turned off so was covered in mould, something so simple easily resolved. The front of the shower tray was damaged bit of a safety issue as quite sharp! Perfect location for getting into the centre close to all amenities. I did raise our issues with reception on departure. Would stay again just need to take more care in attention to detail.

Just had our first stay here as going to concert... we had seen the good online reviews/ location & decided to stay. We were greeted on reception by Andrew who was so welcoming & helpful. Our ground floor room was so spacious & had a large bathroom too..... there was a problem with the bathroom tap but apart from that it was perfect for our one night stay. The location was great & all staff so lovely. We had breakfast too which was the best I've had in along while. Thank you team for a lovely stay & hopefully be back again soon.

About 5 minute walk into centre! The rooms are huge and lovely decor! Bathroom is small but every you need is there! The bed is on another level of comfy! The bar is small but lovely deals and drinks to be offered! Breakfast was good too! Cannot fault my stay I will be returning

So in love with this place! The decor is out of this world, the entire place is beautiful & spotlessly clean. Right in the centre of Liverpool so close to the docks, Bond Street etc.! Food is freshly made and tasted amazing. The staff really do make it though, they can’t do enough for you and make you feel so welcome. Great value for money - would definitely recommend a booking!!

Just perfect, the staff are really lovely and can't do enough for you, even the night-porter was friendly and knowledgeable. The room was spacious, spotless and offered great facilities. The bed was massive and comfortable. The beer is well kept and the cocktails fantastic. We didn't eat here because we'd booked elsewhere but we will do next time.

My dad and I spent nearly an hour trying to find somewhere quiet where we could converse (on a match day of all days) , we found this place tucked away from the main throughfare. The service was was excellent and the food was simple but amazing. Very welcoming atmosphere. No crazy loud music or TV, it was perfect.

We had a lovely time during our stay at the Lock & Key. Our no. 9 room was really beautiful and spacious and the breakfast was amazing. Big thank you to Andrew, Luke, Meg, and all the other staff there who made our stay so comfortable. Lock & Key has that nice balance of luxury without feeling snobby! Hopefully, we can visit again soon :)

Chose the hotel for the perfect location of it. But it would be my first choice of a hotel in Liverpool in the future because it was exceptional. Luke was warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I've never stayed anywhere with friendlier staff. The rooms are lovely and to a high standard. Beds are probably one of the comfiest I've ever slept on. The room service tablet was fantastic. Cocktails were lovely. Cannot recommend this place enough. Will definitely be back.

It was a last minute booking but I’m so happy I made it! Loved the room me and my husband stayed in as a pit stop to Scotland! The decor or the bedroom and bathroom were spot on. And the staff especially Curtis, he even gave us some recommendations for our trip to Scotland. We had American pancakes for breakfast, which are in house and they were divine. Thank you very much will definitely be back

We were greeted by the receptionist, May, who was friendly and really welcoming, and all-round a credit to the hotel. We went up to our room (room 12) which was decorated to a decent standard. The floral wallpaper added a lot of character, and the room itself was nice and big. It was unfortunate that the TV wasn't working. We were offered an apology, but no solution or recompense for the unavailability of an advertised amenity. Our double bed wasn't a double, but two single mattresses pushed together. The bathroom was rather small and utilitarian, and didn't particularly fit with the style of the room. The sliding door offered little privacy and was also water-damaged at the bottom. There was no partition between the shower and the rest of the room, meaning the floor was inevitably saturated after showering. Not ideal if you had to use the toilet at any point until it had dried. There was also no sanitary bin in the bathroom, or room whatsoever. The most significant gripe with the stay however was how noisy the hotel was. I got next to no sleep. The single-glazed windows in the room offered next to no protection from the noise of Duke Street below. I was treated to a rendition of the Hollies at around 3AM, as well intermittent shouting, and the noise from cars, street cleaners, and lorries throughout the night. I recognise that it's a listed building and it replacing the single-glazing might not be possible, but I ultimately couldn't sleep in a place I pay to be able to sleep in. We could also hear every footstep up and down the stairs, and every word being spoken on the landing. I eventually fell asleep at around 6AM. We did have breakfast downstairs the next day, which was really good for the price. Again, the staff we interacted with in the morning were all excellent. I really, really wanted to like this hotel, but I left there exhausted, having hardly slept. The issues with the TV and the poor bathroom added to this, and the lack of a sanitary bin I feel is a massive oversight. Unfortunately, I think we could have spent less for an overall better experience in pretty much any bog-standard chain hotel.

I visit today for brunch after a recommendation. Food and service first class. Nice surroundings and very clean. Eggs Rolyal very nice indeed and lovely pot of tea using loose tea. Will definitely go again.

Enjoyed our cheeky one night at this boutique hotel. Room was one of the smaller one but comfortable, with funky decor. Staff were all lovely and the cocktails were fab, as was the brekkie. A stones throw from Liverpool one and John Lewis, plenty of bars, clubs and resteraunts on your doorstep. Recommended.

Best stay in a Liverpool hotel we’ve ever had. Wonderful staff. Very accommodating and pleasant. Good was delicious. Took full advantage of room service. Great location. 10/10 would stay again.

Fantastic little boutique hotel Pros Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast each morning was fantastic. Room was better than most 5 star hotels I've stayed in. Great location (except the view). Cons (all minor) The room door handle almost falling off. The same door needing to be slammed closed to shut (noisy for other guests). No air con so room was very warm. Pillows were hard. Couple of ceiling lights needed replacing.

Nice little hotel with a restaurant/bar attached. Located a couple minute walk from L1 and only a 10min walk from lime street station. The staff went above and beyond with getting our room ready early. Rooms are tasty fully done. Our room was larger than your average hotel room. Would gladly stay again.

Meg. All Meg. Well, mostly Meg at least. I'd say a good 90% anyway. The customer service from her was well above and beyond. Absolutely fantastic. As for the room, clean, comfy and well presented. It was cool too. Not as in the décor but temperature. Only stayed one night but it was a good night.

  • 5/5 Amber D. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely fantastic hotel. Would really recommend staying here. Room was beautiful and the decor is amazing. Bed was comfy and the shower, best shower I’ve used. Can’t fault the hotel staff, we’re absolutely smashing, nothing was a problem for them and they were so friendly, always got time for a conversation. The bar was awesome, had a really nice ‘French Martini’. Good vibes overall , would definitely stay again. Also, the town is just a stones throw away.
