Excellent bed and breakfast stay here for 3 days and nights. Beautiful location and well cared for 17th century building. Amazing rooms and our ensuite was fabulous. Very modern fittings. Very clean and tidy rooms. Excellent menu for breakfasts. Lovely staff. We would definitely come back. Couldn't fault the place, if looking for something in the area you will not be disappointed, it deserves the 5 stars I've given. We didn't eat at the restaurant so can't comment but the menu looked great. (12-15 minute drive to Eden Golf Course)

What a fabulous pub/hotel. So glad we stayed here and wished we'd booked for 2 nights. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had dinner in the restaurant which was some of the nicest food we've eaten. The steak pie was 1st class (can see why they are award winning) and my husband said the tomahawk pork chop was beautiful. Breakfast the next morning did not disappoint either. Beautifully cooked and presented. You have a great chef!! We can't wait to return soon and have recommended your accommodation to our friends and family xx

Lovely overnight stay, the hotel is cosy and very well decorated with mix of old and new. Keeps its country pub feel. Team all very welcoming. Food is excellent, we had an evening meal. Breakfast was high quality.

It was really nice to find this place and after being badly let down with a famous hotel chain,we rang Sue who runs it and she kindly helped us out as we where due to stay here a few days later. Our room was bright and nicely decorated with some nice touches. It has a reasonable sized carpark which was ideal for us to park our motorcycle safely.

Had a lovely meal here whilst on holiday in Cumbria. We booked a meal for a family of 4 no problem. The Inn is in a nice quiet village. There is a decent size car park outside so had no problem parking. The outside was nicely lit as it was an evening and inside was very cosy. The fire was burning as it was February so a bit nippy outside, but was just right inside. The lady who greeted us and looked after us throughout was nice and friendly. The food was delicious and really good quality and the prices were reasonable as well. Wish it was around the corner from where we live as we would be there whenever we fancied a meal out if that was the case 😃 thank you for a lovely evening to the team at String of Horses Inn 🐎 😊

Just the most excellent find. A lovely hotel/pub with amazing staff and extremely comfortable and stylish rooms. We stayed one night whilst travelling back from our Scottish holiday and wanting to break the journey, we found this gem by chance. Arrived in time for dinner, which was exceptional, as was breakfast the following morning. Great ambience, would highly recommend.

Last minute booking but when I arrived the staff had my details and the room was ready. Room was clean and good value. The food was absolutely delicious. Thank you to Sue who served me and made me feel comfortable with being a solo female guest. Restaurant had a really nice ambiance to it with a roaring fire. Will be back next time I'm in the area.

An absolute iconic old English pub. Great comfortable room, best bed on the trip so far. Staff were the best. Nothing too much trouble. The bar and dining area were especially old english. It was especially quiet with little or no traffic. Loved the place. Would stay again

Took a trip to the UK from Australia, this was the kind of place I most wanted to go. An old English Inn, steeped in history; the atmosphere and feeling of being in a place that has been operating since before Australia was “discovered” settled, that wasn’t a tourist attraction / destination was just wonderful.
