We were there the evening of Friday the 21st of February 2025 to celebrate my birthday. Seems like if you are a certain skin colour Padstals waiters ignore you including the manager aswell. We waited about 20-30mins to get served in their outside seating area. In that time more than 10 of their waiters passed our table and ignored us calling out to them! However when we did eventually get a waiter his service was very good. His name is Dion.

The main Bouncer does not try and de-escalate problems but rather escalates them further I can guess that 90% of the problems that arose at padstal was because of this specific bouncer. This specific bouncer was very arrogant when he was spoken to in a very calm manner. I would not recommend this place for family events.

I want to start by saying that this is purely my opinion based on multiple visits to Padstal. I’ve been there many times, so this review reflects my overall experience rather than just one visit. My most recent visit was on February 14, 2025. As always, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was super relaxed. There’s always background music playing, creating a great vibe. I’ve tried a variety of items on the menu—breakfasts, appetizers, off the grill meats, burgers, and now pizzas—so I’ll be as honest as possible. Overall, the food is really good, and I feel the pricing is fair. The breakfast, in particular, is something I always recommend to friends and family—the omelets are fantastic. I’ve also had almost every burger on the menu, and they are definitely worth it. The meat is always perfectly prepared, making them an easy recommendation. However, on our latest visit, we decided to try the pizzas for the first time. We ordered a Mexican pizza and another one that I believe was steak and sirloin (though I could be mistaken). Unfortunately, both were underwhelming. They were fresh and served hot, but they lacked flavor. That being said, I’ve never had any issues with any other item on the menu. This was the first time I found something disappointing, and I’m only mentioning it because, after trying almost everything, it’s the only dish I wouldn’t order again. Aside from that, Padstal remains one of my favorite places. The food is fresh, the staff is always friendly, and they check in regularly to ensure you’re happy. I absolutely think it’s worth visiting, and I’ll continue going once or twice a week.

Very disappointed with Padstal. We came for the pizza special and now they want to charge us a fee for having a take away. What kind a of a restaurant does this ??? R10 for a take away. This general manager is cooked. They also don’t let you order a glass of water anymore. At least our food and service from Thesgo was very good. He had a great personality and kept us entertained. We think the Square Time special on a Monday is better 🙃

Awesome vibe, and very good service. Food was nice but we were not blown away. Next time I want to try the potjie seeing as the waiting line was almost around the block...🫣 The one thing that was a major issue was finding parking in front of the premises we ended up going across the road and parked at the mall. The rest 👌

Atmosphere is great most of the time, depending on your table (sound are too loud in certain areas). Food is good, but not great. Service is great!

Food Average, service good, vibe great

Had a breakfast there a sunday morning and the food is delicious, the vibe is amazing and the staff is friendly. Great place to party at night and enjoy in the daytime also. They have a sushi bar and a cute gift shop. Definitely looking forward to next visit.

This is real house for comfort food. Fresh and tasty. The cheese sauce is delicious!! The crumbed mushroom yummy :) you will want more and more.

Great atmosphere, awesome vibe

What I enjoyed and appreciated most about Padstal, is how unpretentious the place is. They prove that decent typical pub lunch food can still be affordable. Unlike so many places (especially franchises) that charge ridiculous amounts for very average food. Please keep this up! Great service as well, we'll be back for business lunches in Pretoria soon.

The food is good for the price you pay. The prices are so low, you would believe you are in 2018. It is very rare to find a restaurant with affordable prices at the moment. The 500ml draught on tap is R25. I could not believe it. My partner had the padstal burger, for R92. It comes with a lot, and a side of chips that is very generous. It was a bit salty, but seemingly because of the burger. I had the steak, egg and chips for R65. Believe it or not. It was not the best steak, but it was good enough for the portion. The service is spectacular. Kyle, our waiter made our Monday feel like a Friday. I would definitely go back and would recommend everyone to visit this place.
