Our server Carmen was amazing - very friendly and attentive despite the Friday night rush. THE FOOD IS AWESOME! Everything from the pit was first rate, and whatever you think you want for a side, try to brussel sprouts! I cant say enough about this place - love it, cant wait to come back on our next trip!!

This was my first visit to Harrisonburg (Go, JMU!) and we enjoyed our lunch. Maddie got us started--The salmon on my spinach salad was perfect and he really enjoyed the "Jimmy Burger"--then Brigid took care of us at change of shift. Both were really nice and we had great conversation with Brigid, who is a Washington Nationals fan! ⚾ We'll definitely come back.

I really enjoyed this place. We just came in from out of town and needed a dinner spot to relax. This was perfect. The waitress had great recommendations and the food was delicious. I had a pulled pork combo with Mac and cheese and the brussel sprouts with candied pecans and bacon. The brussel sprouts were amazing, she wasn't kidding when she said there's a reason they are available as an appetizer. The pimento fondue with pita chips was a great starter. The array of house BBQ sauces were also great and available for purchase and the mint julep was generously poured. Loved the rooftop view as well. A memorable stop for us on our trip.

Best lunch we’ve had all year!!! Service was fast and so good! Shout out to Elena she had great suggestions and made our experience a 10:10! We had two flights and old fashioned. The jimmy style Brussel sprouts are a MUST have and the chicken and waffle sandwich was AMAZING!! No need to discuss this is where you should eat!!

Couple of weeks back we were visiting JMU and stopped at this place for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised with the good quality and excellent service. The portions are big, so it's is definitely a good value for money (you can share a dish for sure). A must try: the Green Fried Tomatoes with Pimiento cheese. The BBQ meats were all good, we had chicken, pork and brisket. The brisket was missing a bit of flavor on its own, but with the good selection of BBQ sauces, you can pair that to your taste. We were also surprised by the good ambiance and space inside (from outside it looked a bit small and dark, but quite the opposite). We'll come back whenever we ar back in town.

After reading reviews of how great the food was we decided to give it a try. I ordered the Pulled Pork Platter. The pork wasn't completely pulled. It was one big hunk of meat plus two burnt ends. Although the pulled pork was somewhat tender it was tasteless and greasy.I asked for a side of Bourbon BBQ sauce so glad I did, it added some flavor to the dish.. The Mac n Cheese had very little cheese in the sauce and the Cavatappi noodles were overcooked.. The chopped Brisket was more like a dice than chopped but flavorful. On the plus side the Brussel Sprouts were FANTASTIC! Had I known, I would've just ordered two servings of those.

If you like southern food, you need to check this place out. The interior was really nice, the food was amazing, the service was superb, and the prices were in line with the portions and quality.

We came to see Tim McGraw in Virginia and decided to grab some lunch here. The establishment is very clean and well kept. The menu was small but I was pleased with everything I ordered. I ordered a side of brussel sprouts and it was huge! I didn’t even need to order the appetizer. The broccoli salad and the pasta salad were also very tasty. The burger was cooked just the way I wanted it. The portion size of the food is well worth the cost! Everything was flavorful and the food came out rather quickly. It was rather difficult trying to find a place to park, but other than that, I highly recommend you stop in here if you’re ever in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

This place was a really great choice for dinner. Upon arrival, we noticed the place is pretty large and there is plenty of seating. Our waitress was phenomenal and everyone in the restaurant was friendly. The Mac and cheese bites were amazing. My brisket sandwich was loaded with flavor! Lastly, we had the peanut butter Oreo pie and it was a wonderful way to end the meal. I would highly recommend this place to people.

Food was so delicious we ordered from the same place next night as well! Brisket nachos were amazing and a must try. They pack it well for take out too. If we we were in town for more days would have liked to try their burgers as well.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Plenty of space, awesome waitress, and great food. I had the chicken and waffle sandwich and my girlfriend had the smoked turkey breast platter. We also had the Virginia whiskey sampler. We also had the brussel sprouts for an appetizer. Good food all the way around. My sandwich was awesome. You could tell the waffle was fresh and also the side of broccoli salad was good.

The Jimmy sprouts were SO GOOD! I'm so glad we decided to order them. Great atmosphere and delicious food. Our server Daniel was very friendly and attentive. Nice place to have dinner and grab a drink.

Fantastic food and service at an affordable price. I happened to stop here while traveling and will stop again if an opportunity allows. Great place!

We were visiting from out of town and just happened to come across this fine establishment, the food and the staff we excellent. Our waitress “jersey girl “ was spot on. Friendly and new her stuff. We had the fried green tomatoes and Brussel sprouts for appetizer very good had a burger and turkey sandwich, was excellent… we will return

Wonderful smoked meats, Mac and cheese is delicious, hush puppies amazing. Really great cocktails and a beautiful rooftop seating area. We have always had excellent service when we've eaten here. The atmosphere inside is industrial and nice, what you would expect from a whiskey bar :)

Ate here on my Birthday came from Philly, and the place caught my eye! The food was great! The fried green tomatoes, rubbed wings and Brussels sprouts were to die for! And Madison was an amazing waitress! Can’t wait to visit again to eat here!

Like the atmosphere here. Like the upstairs seating. The Jimmy Sprouts were some of the most delicious Brussel sprouts I’ve ever had. The Turkey and meatloaf sandwiches were okay, but nothing special. Food here seemed pretty high quality in general.

My group of four had a great time at Jimmy Madison's. Great service, Great atmosphere and we all enjoyed our food. I love that they offer flights of whiskey I recommend the Virginian flight the Bowman Brothers was a standout of the three I had. The best of the food tried was the fried brussel sprouts Jimmy style ( bacon and pecans) it was amazing I would come back just for them! I would say if you're a fan of the fried green tomatoes you could skip these but they did have a good pimento cheese on the side. Other than that their burgers and BBQ were great. When I'm back in the area I'll definitely try another flight with some BBQ.

My boyfriend and I visited for the first time and we were blown away! We first ordered the Brussel Sprouts - AMAZING!!! Then we shared the BBQ platter with Pulled Pork, Brisket, Mac n Cheese, Broccoli Salad and Hush Puppies. Again, AMAZING! You could cut the brisket with a fork. We sat at the bar and the waitress/bartender was really nice! We 100% recommend this restaurant and if we are ever back in the area we will absolutely be coming back!

Stopped for a quick lunch on our way home. We were the only customers for a while and it was lovely. The wings were delicious and the Cobb salad was well put together. Fun atmosphere.

My only criticism would be bring a sweater. The air conditioning is top-notch, LOL! Reese was our server & he was excellent! Everything was very good! My husband & both had salads with grilled chicken. The lettuce was fresh & the grilled chicken was moist & seasoned just right!

We chose Jimmy Madison's based on reviews for best restaurants in Harrisburg, VA. It did not disappoint. We were welcomed and seated right away going up a narrow, spiral staircase to a second floor in a very old, historic building on Main St. It has an open floor plan so tables on each side can actually look down over the first floor tables. No pics as I didn't want to distract others dining below. There is a cozy looking bar on the first floor close to the entrance. Would have loved to try their whiskey flights and other tempting cocktails but this was a traveling stop with many more miles yet to drive. Now to the food. First, we had fried pickles. SO good. My husband is a meatloaf lover. Never had a "smoked" one before but he enjoyed every bite. He also really liked the side of broccoli salad. My choice was "From The Pit". After asking our server about how much lean vs fat their brisket tends to have, I chose to try it. Very tasty but a lot more fat than I expected which is why food got 4 stars instead of 5. It was the highest priced item on the menu so I expected more lean. Having said that, the portions of everything are quite generous. I have enough in my take home box for another whole meal. The Yukon gold mashed potatoes were creamy, well seasoned and delicious. The coleslaw was pretty standard but cold, crisp and fresh. The fresh brewed iced tea was also very good. The desserts sounded wonderful (there are 3, we were told) but we were too full to try one. Our server, Sarah, was pleasant, attentive, helpful with suggestions and patient with my questions. They play quite an eclectic variety of music here. Everything from Jazz and Blues to Country and Rock n Roll. I really enjoyed that. The HVAC system is quite loud when it is running and it got rather chilly. But that is to be expected in this type of old, brick building. There is a skylight above the second floor so on this beautiful, warm, sunny day, the light was lovely but it gets hot up there quickly so the AC kicked on often and you just get used to the sound. I highly recommend Jimmy Madison's and hope to return again.

I enjoyed a massive smoked turkey sandwich and an even bigger pile of the famous brussels sprouts last weekend. Everything was great, service was friendly and attentive. Shout-out to Sean for providing great service to me as a solo diner while simultaneously attending to a table of 8-12!

Every part of our visit to Jimmy Madison’s was fantastic! The service was perfect! Alexandra was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the pimento cheese fondue. YUM! I ordered the pulled pork and my husband ordered the brisket. They we both perfectly seasoned and delivered hot. So delicious! The Brussels sprouts and Mac n cheese were unbelievable! Really! So good. I would make a trip here from NC just to come here!

The server was really good. Unfortunately what I ordered was not. The whiskey bbq sauce wasn't very appetizing and made my pulled pork taste worse than it was. I myself wouldn't go back. The atmosphere was cozy and pleasing to the eye. I would have went to 1 star but this was my first trip there. Probably my last, but I can't go 1 star over one bad meal.

HAD TO LEAVE ONE STAR AS YOU CAN'T LEAVE NEGATIVE STARS!!!!! Went there to have a relaxing dinner with friends trying to give them my business and help out the local employees. The server acted like she didn't even want to serve us our meal or drinks. Then continued to come back several times and ask us if we were ready for the check. We said yes you can bring the check and this was right after our meal was served. She brought the check then came back 3 more times asking if we were ready to pay. We ask the waitress if we could have some coffee and she said we don't have any filters for the coffee pot. After that the manager came over and this was at 8:00 pm and said they were closing early and he needed to turn all the lights on so they could clean. We had just gotten there at 7:00 pm. The hours of operation was until 10:00 pm. This is one business in Harrisonburg I will not be trying to help stay open... I do hope that the General Manager checks in on this store as they aren't wanting to work or have customers.........The bill for 4 people was around $115.00... So goodbye Jimmy Madison....

Picked this place while just passing through the area. This place has a great interior and cool rooftop outdoor seating. Mask on rule! The brussel sprouts, crab dip and burgers were amazing! They have a limited menu presently but I'm certain anything else we ordered would have been just as flavorful. The drinks were well mixed and tasty. Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. Definitely would recommend. We found free two hour parking right in front and a free 3hr garage one block over.

Always come here when family and friends visit. Great place to eat and catch up.

This place is awesome!

The food was good, but not my favorite. They have excellent flavor combinations and a unique menu. A lot of drink options as well that are diverse. The atmosphere was fun and not loud during the lunch time I went. Definitely a great option for a dinner with friends.

Fantastic service, friendly and helpful waitstaff and amazing food! Must try the brussel sprouts...even if you're not a fan, try them....absolutely delicious...made with candied bacon, pecans and a vinaigrette. 👌

The atmosphere and the inside are really cool and trendy. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I ordered the brussel sprouts app. & crab dip and they were great. I got the shrimp & grits dinner entree with a side of mac and cheese and it was also great. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back!

MUST TRY!!!!! May I say ROMANTIC!!!!!! WITH FOOD! YES I CAN!!!! The pulled pork was smoked to perfection and the side of Brussels sprouts were glazed with bacon DEVINE!!!!!! Hats to the chef and all kitchen staff... Generous portion size for lunch!

Starting going here a little less over the past year as the food seemed to be getting inconsistent/going downhill a little bit. Well. Went back for the first time in a long time 7/12/2020 and it was wonderful! Everything we ordered was perfect, absolutely top notch. Service was outstanding as well (always has been!). Will be back soon for sure!

For dinner, the service was fast, waitress was knowledgeable, and kind. Food was excellent. We hosted our rehearsal dinner here and had their catering in the event space. Everyone loved the food and we were well taken care of. Ranged about $1200 for 20-25 people. We highly recommend and have had nothing but great food and good experiences here.
