I don't care if you call this healthy food or not. This was some of the best food I've eaten in ages! I had the Southern with grilled chicken. The serving was huge and not only was I satisfied, but didn't feel stuffed after eating either. I would love to have one of these in Atlanta! I spent $11. An awesome value for true, healthy, tasty food!

Wow, the food was absolutely amazing. Great option for vegetarians! The barbeque tofu has so much flavor and the roots rice was amazing. This is a very healthy food option and the portion was really big. I got the southern and I would highly recommend. The sauce was also a nice touch, not too strong like some dressings, but a perfect light flavor addition to the bowl. 10/10

I've been eating from here for the past three years, and every year it's becoming more rip off than ever. Attached photo is how much I get for $10.30. 15 pieces of cubed bbq tofu el jefe salad. The person who was on the line right before me also ordered el jefe with bbq tofu and she asked for a bit more tofu; the server dropped "2" extra pieces. I mean, hey tofu doesn't cost THAT much. This is not just with tofu but also happens with chicken. I can get so much better quality food at a better portion at Chipotle or Chopt. Just because it's located in the corner and has this monopoly over salad market at UVA, it shouldn't rip off customers like this.

I LOVED Roots Natural Kitchen until they raised their prices recently. It used to be a good value. It is no longer. I am not going to pay $14.30 (with tax) for a bowl of rice and kale and some other stuff. Hate to say this-- but goodbye! Sayonara to the Tamari salad that I loved so much!

Good place for a healthy meal. A had a "apollo bowl" with brown rice, grilled chicken, veggies and of course you can always add to it, my preference was avocado. Once all the ingredients are together they mix it up in a aluminum bowl and on to a bowl. At the end the bowl almost weight 5lbs but it was so good that I finished the entire meal. Will return and try something different.

Really good food and nice atmosphere! The place could use a little sprucing up as far as visual flair, but the main goal of the place, the food, is on point. I had the Cobb Corner and it really hit the spot. The Hibiscus tea was good too!

Awesome. Healthiest and best food on The Corner. Definitely recommend El Jefe - I had it with miso tofu and it was delicious. My partner had a custom bowl which also looked delicious.

I had an amazing bowl with the BBQ Tofu and lots of veggies. The flavor was delicious and the pick up process for carryout was easy.

I haven't been at Roots by I order delivery from them often. El Jefe is my favorite. I ask for dressing and pita chips on the side. It's always fresh and delicious. The bowl comes full all the way to the top that I usually split in two and get lunch and dinner from one order. I appreciate that they always send a fork and napkins!

El jefe is the best Periodt. It’s good a healthy veggie bowl but with chicken and it’s so good so filling insidious me very well I love it not too expensive easy fast casual quick and fast simple must have to go to Charlottesville

Got a few bowls here and really enjoyed them. You can substitute an ingredient, such as spinach for kale, without a problem. It's tasty, healthy food at an affordable price with quick service. That's a good formula, and Roots adds to the quality of life in Cville.

Really good! The music was a little loud, but the food was delicious, and the servers were nice. I got a wrap, which I haven't gotten before, and it was amazing! Good options for kids, and kids meals are free as of the writing of this review. All in all this was a 9.5/10 lunch, and I definitely reccomend it.

Wonderful and delicious local take on the meal in a bowl craze. They do a great job of mixing the ingredients before presented so every bit is diced and sauced. El Jefe is said to be the favorite.

Love this place. Their salads are one of my favorite treats when I want to eat healthy but don't want to cook. The sweet potato is so good. Only downside is parking can be tricky when UVA is in session.

My son brought me to this place for my birthday, because we’re vegan, and they seemed to have good options. When we arrived, I needed to use the restroom, so my son asked for me, if there was a public restroom (when you walk in, there isn’t any seating or anything visible other than the kitchen, so there’s no way to know). One of the employees snapped at him about not having public restrooms until I told him we were buying food. It was so rude and embarrassing to my son. And so what if we weren’t buying food!?? You’re seriously that passionate about not letting non paying humans the privilege of using your toilet? We’re all people. You’re going to turn away someone that needs to pee?? We’re obviously not there to steal your toilet later. I’ve lived in plenty of cities. I understand the need to monitor, but he was unnecessarily so rude about it! My son asked nicely. I didn’t want to stay, but my son insisted. The other employee was really nice and I forgot about the silly goose that made want to boop him in the nose. I’ll pass on another visit.

Always news staff members when I go, and the quality of the salad produced has dwindled to none. Got a salad that I had been getting for 6 years and it was slopped together in a bowl with so much dressing you could pour it out on the ground. I don’t think I will be back.

My only complaint about this place is that no matter how many times I click "no red onions" somehow red onions get into the salad. Maybe it's premixed but it always happens and ruins the salad for me.

I've never had any issues transforming their bowls or creating one of my own to fit my dietary needs, and it's one of the few places I can go to that I feel I get my money's worth. The staff has always been polite, efficient, and patient. The building has always been kept clean. The upstairs has a laid-back feel to it.

Great portions for the price. The food is nourishing, flavorful, and delicious. We went here for the vegan options for my sister but all enjoyed it. I had a bowl salad and ate until I was full and still had half leftover which I ate as a complete lunch the following day.

I came here for the first time today with my mom. Everything was was delicious! The only bad side was my mom couldn’t hear the guy behind the glass because the music was too loud but other than that we love it here I hope they open one up in Danville, Va

This used to be a weekly order for us, when they deliver to the Crozet area on Tuesdays. It’s just not worth it anymore. The delivery time has always been unpredictable and the order accuracy has always been unreliable. At least twice over the last year, it just never showed up— the refund, while appreciated, was the least they could do. The delivery staff has *always* been kind but stressed; whatever the problem is, it’s clearly top-down. Now the app has gone from frustratingly buggy (would sometimes crash mid-order) to literally unusable (always crashes on checkout). We have never successfully reached the restaurant by phone. Why two stars? The food is OK (if you avoid the chicken, and aren’t too attached to what you ordered vs what arrives) and frankly there just aren’t that many delivery options in Crozet. Those factors have stayed consistent, but prices have risen and the app has bottomed out. 🤷🏼‍♂️ If the leadership has any interest in improving the experience, I haven’t seen any indication of it in two years of semi-regular patronage.

Healthy and delicious. Even the picky kids find things that they like here. I'm always impressed by the bowls here. They even made a slick way to order ahead so you don't have to wait in line.

Ordered delivery through THEIR partner DoorDash. Spent over $50 for lunch for 2 not knowing that their prices are higher if you get it delivered. I received the order and did not receive the dressing or any utensils. Nothing worse than a dry meal thanks to not getting what you ordered. Called the restaurant and was told that since I used THEIR partner delivery service I had to deal with them which was funny since they were the ones that didn't put it in the bag...right!? Guess you live and learn.

Roots was really delicious and filling and you can get almost 2 meals out of one order! I got the Souther Bowl which was really good. The BBQ tofu is sweet and charred. I loved everything about it but unfortunately they left out the cheddar cheese and the pickled red onions. Even then it still tasted pretty good! I added my own Kimchi to replace to forgotten pickled red onions. I also got the Jefe which was really tasty and filling. The service was quick and although they didn’t quite get the order right, they were friendly and moved fast. The shop is TINY and there is hardly any parking, so I highly suggest going at not rush hour and taking advantage of the 6 or so 15 min parking spots out front. They also have an app that does free delivery within 10 miles until August 15,2022. I’d come back and hopefully get a complete order! *UPDATED: The team reached out promptly to get us a discounted new bowl, such quick and considerate customer service!
