Amazing place and environment !!!! I’m a single mother and my 6 year old daughter asked for “karate” lessons in sept last year 2019. When I searched I found MMA with defensive edge instead and I knew from the start this was the only place that I wanted us to go to. I love it here because they welcome you always with warm family vibes. They are family to my daughter and I. They are worth every single penny you spend on training as an adult or for your children/family. I have made the best of friendships and connections with instructors and met so many people who train or trained there. and We wish we could afford to attend every single class !! I can’t say enough good things about the owner Rick and how special every single senseis warm energy and lessons are! What a wonderful experience and home from home.

Everything thing about defensive edge is exactly what you look for in a good martial arts school. I’ve had experience now training with their mixed martial arts classes and their both fantastic. I recently took the fire arm safety class at his gym and it was extremely well done. I actually challenge you to find a more qualified instructor then Rick in the area. He is not only very skilled with fire arms but with a wide variety of arts as well. There MMA coach Connor is an experienced professional in mixed martial arts and he heads up there MMA program. He’s a great person and you’ll have a blast training with him

I highly recommend this place! Defensive Edge is a place that has something for the whole family. We have been going there for a few years and have nothing but good things to say. The entire team there loves what they do and have extensive knowledge on what they teach. The Owner Ricks Fight Fit class is like nothing else and will definitely get you in shape or check out one of their other classes. They even have a gun safety course. You won't be disappointed.

Defensive Edge Martial Arts is a first class school. Sensei Rick and his staff are extremely professional and personable. They are always teaching and their attention to detail is incredible. I appreciate having the opportunity to ask questions in class and not feeling intimidated. Last Sunday my husband and I took the school’s Firearms safety class. Our instructor, Rick Alford, made me feel comfortable right from the moment we walked in. His background in self defense, martial arts, and teaching definitely showed in his patient and knowledgeable manner. I was excited to see that he is very knowledgeable of many different types of firearms. Part of the reason I chose this class is because of the hands-on training we received. We were able to practice safely loading and unloading different guns (no live ammo), an experience that a lot of other schools do not offer. I absolutely recommend this class, as it is taught by a range officer with much experience.

I can’t recommend Defensive Edge enough. From the beginner walking into their first class, to a high level fighter, DE is highly credible gym. Their kids program is fantastic, they win competitions constantly, and the classes are always packed with kids and the smiling faces of parents. The adult fighters work hard here and respect each other. When I first came, I was a bit nervous walking into a fighting gym, rightfully so lol! I was greeted with nothing but kindness and welcoming energy. That’s what kept me coming back. I have brought many friends here over the years to train and they would say the same. It is truly a community of friends with the same goals. Connor Barry is one of the best jiu jitsu coaches in the area, highly recommend hitting his classes or taking a private lesson with him. I’ve been working with him since day 1! I also took the gun safety course with my wife that Rick holds. It was awesome to say the least. We learned a ton and even got to handle prop guns for more realistic practice. DE will always be my home, and I look forward to bringing my kids here one day!

I’ve been coming to defensive edge for over a year now and hands down one of my favorite places. The crew of guys and relationships I’ve built there are amazing. The training and discipline I’ve learned from Josh and his crew has been life changing.

My children go here for classes, and Defensive Edge is amazing. Along with the actual skills they teach, you can see that the Senseis really care about each children. It also give a feeling of being a part of a community. Highly highly recommended.

Incredibly Thorough!! Rick and Carl are an incredible duo. The amount of information they pack into the 4 hour class is staggering! These guys are true ambassadors to safe and lawful gun ownership. Highly recommend!!

I have been training at Defensive edge the last 14 years. Rick and his Instructors are awesome. Rick continues to always find ways to better himself and his students. I am proud to say he is my teacher and role model. My dream was always to earn my black belt thanks to him and Larry my dream has come true and then some. I recommend all my friends interested in martial arts and training to Defensive edge this place is one of the best in the state.

Defensive Edge is an amazing school, ive trained there off and on for many years, Rick is a great guy and his whole staff really knows how to make you feel like your part of the family. The MMA and jiu jitsu programs are great for both beginners and pro fightets! Bare Knuckle Connor Barry is a great coach, trainer and fighter himself
