I have been a mostly on member for many years. Suspended and cancelled my membership primarily due to Covid pandemic. I went to join again…not only is there a 50% increase in cost $129/month, there is an additional fee of $30 to use the pool. When I went to address this clearly in a pleasant tone not complaining, I just wanted to understand why the 50 percent increase in cost in membership along with even more money to use the pool. Zero sales pitch and I grudgingly accepted the cost of the gym membership but balked when they slipped in the pool cost at the end. At Shelby they could care less. Today at 10:00 am I went to speak to a membership advisor no one available in middle of the day??? ( that’s why i went at that time ) a woman at the front desk said you can quit and gave me a form. She ran me out so quick the form was not even filled out right. Let’s see if cancellation holds up. Buyer beware. My fault. They clearly only care about sales and clearly not service. If they can’t keep a lifelong “ lifetime member that’s on them not me.

This gym puts profits over its members and basketball population. We are in the middle of basketball league and gym is set to close in the middle of it to install a pickleball court. Crazy how this gym picks profits yet only trades at $18.69 a share. Will be canceling. I’m not paying $130 a month and told I’m not allowed to play basketball whenever.

Love the gym but disappointed they are taken down one of the two basketball courts. Basketball has pretty much been cut off for the majority of members. Between leagues and camps that shut the now only court down multiple times a week, full court games are often played allowing around 20 people to play and hold the court for hours. On top of that the cleanliness has been going down hill and amenities are often low or out of stock on the counters.

We signed in, went to the pool with our 18 month baby at 8am, got in the pool and we were kicked out after 2 minutes because its not family swim time . What is the point of adding my baby to my membership if he cannot go at any time that i go?

Why the need to remove the basketball nets completely. Overcrowded at all times now, if it was such a big issue you could install rims that go up.

Man, me and my family love this place so much. Wish we could go back. Me and 12 of my relatives all canceled a while back. Only reason I give it 3 stars and only reason why we canceled is because they aren’t 24/7 anymore and a lot people leave work around 11pm or midnight and start work super early in the morning. If only they went back 24/7. My whole family would sign up like that!

After the second day of using my 7 day pass, I wanted to give my last criticism for those who are looking for a gym that they really want to pursue a healthier lifestyle and get the best bang for their buck. It is nice that they have more of a variety of equipment then other gyms, but I just can't justify it to be honest. for 100 a month, its pretty steep, but you do get towels, showers, access to the basketball court, steam rooms, sauna, pool access, and access to the jacuzzis. Which if you use all these things when you go to the gym, it is definitely worth it. But for me who shows up in the mornings and only lifts and leaves, I don't see the worth of it being 100 a month. I currently have a membership at crunch fitness and I go in the mornings and very few people are there which is nice and I have access to pretty much any machine I want. Not to mention there are plenty of benches for free weights and there's plenty of space and I only pay 26.95 a month which is a steal. When I come to lifetime in the morning, Its surprisingly busy and getting a bench to use free weights is sort of difficult. And when you do get a bench to use free weights, it' almost like you're on top of each other with how close you are to someone else. I can't imagine what it's like during 5:30-8:00pm during primetime hours and I really don't want to wait and see. Not to mention the locations are scarce. Unfortunately I do not plan on getting a monthly membership. Should I also note that if you're looking for a gym based on machine variation, space of equipment, and location, you can get three gym memberships for less then the cost of one month at lifetime. For me personally, I could justify spending 80 dollars for three memberships combined because when traveling for work or going out of state days at a time, I can find one gym out of the three nearby as opposed to lifetime. Hope this helps for those looking for their perfect gym.

The photo of the men's shower area shows you what you need to know. I know this is a customer issue being this sloppy, but then the cleaning times should increase to prevent. Just received an email about a 20 dollar increase next month. At the high price, clean should be the default. To be fair, workout area and pools are always clean. After showering however, the smell and sloppy area are not what you want to walk through. Music is usually way to loud. I think it is something like 90% of the people there where headphones and I have to blast mine to drown out the sound. Needs to be turned down. It would be nice if something could be done to prevent the kids from taking selfies in the mirror. Other people are in there and should not have to worry about being in pictures with a (cannot write the noun I want to use). In all seriousness however it is an issue and something should be done.

I live and the area and mostly come to swim and chill. Workers are nice when they scan my card at the front desk and the life guards r great to talk to. I would like to know the names of the lifeguards. They treat us like a family. Wonderful place if u live in the area and have nothing to do!

The place is poorly managed and especially the manager (or whoever is responsible to respond to claims) never gets back to you. Some buys are too “friendly” in the locker room, making really inappropriate “compliments”, if you know what I mean. But that’s probably because the manager has their back. Send a message about it, no ever acknowledged it or respond to it. There are two or three employees on the evening shift (it’s when I’m there) who always do a good job, but the rest of the staff is really not interested in the place. Probably short staffed too, but in 2023 that is everyone’s problem. Anyway, makes it worth to drive 20 min away to the Rochester Hills location, to not have to put up with some of the stuff that happens in the locker room.

You would think that a gym this high end would warrant a higher rating, right? Sadly, the best I can do here is three stars. I’ll get to what I like, but I want to get my complaints out of the way. First off, good luck getting in your weight routine WITHOUT having to weight for machines. Especially during peak hours. Planet Fitness, the gym everyone likes to clown on, has two pec fly/delt fly machines, but Lifetime can apparently only afford one. Second, for the price, the experience isn’t all that exclusive. Wanting to work out at branch that has a bathroom on the second level costs an extra $30/month (that was pretty much the only difference between here and the more expensive Rochester Hills location.) Parking is always crammed and the other nearby locations aren’t much better. Third, the appointments in the pool and locker room area could be updated to not look rusted or outdated. Especially when this place brands itself as a “athletic club.” So why am I a member? First, this is literally one of two gyms in the area that can accommodate my spa circuit which would be inclusive with the membership. Second, unlike the other gym that can accommodate my spa circuit, this one has an abundance of cleaning stations (the other had three - THREE - for the entire gym! We just got out of a pandemic and I don’t want to see another one!) I’m glad Lifetime has an abundance of cleaning stations. Third, they do have yoga classes and for different skill levels. That’s a nice feature to have so one isn’t having to get a separate membership for that. The Lifespa and Cafe are nice to have, but since they aren’t inclusive, I don’t have a particular opinion on it one way or another (if there was an incentive like a free 30 minute massage with a monthly renewal or a discount on coffee, I could feel differently.) The best way I think the Lifetime experience could be better is if they expanded and found a location near M-59 and I-94 that could serve as a hub for Macomb, Chesterfield, New Baltimore, Clinton Twp, Mt. Clemens, and Harrison Twp as to perhaps help alleviate some of the congestion here. There’s no real competition for them, so will they rest on their laurels and be complacent, or will they work to make the experience better for those who are willing to shell out $100 (or more) a month to work out? I’d like to hope for the latter but time will tell.

This used to be a great gym but lately the staff has been incredibly rude. Particularly today at 3pm, i was stared down when i simply asked a question. Not just stared- she looked me up and down and ignored me. I’m not quite sure of her name but she is an older blonde woman who works near the locker rooms - I believe starts with a T. I’m a young woman, and this type of BS is intolerable - especially from another woman. Please get rid of people like this, as this rude behavior makes me want to cancel my membership right now.

Beautiful workout spot! I absolutely love the modern and relaxed atmosphere, starting with the cheerful greeting every time you walk through the door. They have state-of-the-art equipment and a workout that suits anyone of all ages and levels. The pool area is gorgeous and the Aqua class with Bridgette is the perfect start to any day! The hot tub and sauna made the best ending to any work out, and of course, then a shake from the cafe. I really love how much time and effort is taken into making sure everything is extremely clean, especially the locker room. No water was left on the floor because someone is always keeping it nice. I felt so pampered with all of their little amenities down to the mouthwash and razors. LT definitely is more than a gym and goes beyond to make sure every guest feels even better when they leave!

My favorite gym, But there are regular robberies in the men's locker room. Hard to believe until it happens to you. My last 165$ and my prescription medicine was stolen from my bag in my locker. Another guy had his car keys stolen at the same time today, around 11:45 am ..... 2-4-2024. I had to file a police report of course.

$135 in cash was stolen from my locker around 10:45pm today (March 23rd of 2023). I let the authorities know about this incident. Bunch on other guys had stuff stolen, I heard Fragrances, Cash, and Valuables. I ask that there needs to be a better security system in the place. My locker was open when I got off the swimming area with missing one pair of AirPods (which was found by the manager later on). I really plan to stay a member here, but things like that can really deter me away and many other members who really care about their valuables. Please contact me if anything was found, or a month membership compensation can be granted for this incident. I left my name and my phone number with the staff members, feel free to contact. Thank you!

The staff are super friendly and greet you when you check in and the staff keep the locker rooms clean. I enjoy all of the class options and times. There is something to do for everyone whether it's a group class, treadmills or ellipticals to an endless area of weights and nautilus machines. I am a signature member so I also like that we can go to other Lifetime locations. So far the only thing that I do not like that you can't have the same guest visit with the guest passes given as a signature member. That guest cannot attend again until 60 days after their visit or else it's $25/day.

This gym has terrible communication with its members when they book the basketball gym for events. They don’t send out emails whenever the gym is booked, we brought around 8 people to play basketball and then after 10 minutes of playing they had to close both sides. One side for some paddle ball fake tennis game and the other for a reservation. I understand people can reserve but if it’s booked send out an EMAIL to your PAYING members because this happens way too often

I just joined the gym and have had several excellent experiences with trainers. I really loved Lindsey and her Dynamic stretching ( it was wonderful) and the time she spent showing me equipment and exercise that would benefit me. I started the AROR Aqua class and it is great; both the instructors and the classmates made me feel right at home and were very helpful. Great gym, clean and great atmosphere.

I’m an employee at lifetime; I work in operations. Today is encouragement day, so, I wanted to encourage Olivia. Olivia is hard-working, and always up for a project. The members enjoy seeing her at work and so do I! I’m just grateful today that I’m working with her! Keep up the good work Olivia!

Follow @Christopherchur1 to sponsor me on tiktok. Lifetime is my Disney world, as I'm like a child in an amazing place where nobody bothers me but are there if I need them. Lifetime allows me to workout wash up eat and even get my hair nails done while i relax watching TV. Friendly faces and clean environment makes the time spent that much more enjoyable. When life has you down and you need time to yourself, go to lifetime gym.

If you’re someone whose look serious about their training and not just going there to socialize and do whatever then this place has a few treats for you: - Extremely busy, I’ve never seen a gym with the weight training area so jam packed, there’s barely space to stand during the evening hours it’s kind of comical. - tying into the last point, because its so comically packed, you simply are not going to do what you had in mind before coming, and many times my muscles get cold before I can get to use the machine or weight I need because everything is taken at all times. - Quantity of machines and disorganization. What kind of “premium” gym has 1 .. I repeat only ONE of each machine or training contraption, like seriously one chest fly machine? One decline? One incline? Don’t get me started on the cables, the benches or the dumbbells scattered all around…and let’s not talk about the group of 5 permbois hogging all the benches at once every Monday.. Meanwhile there’s a huge hardwood floor area so much wasted space and about 10 floor mats all taken, in case you compromise and give up on all the taken cables and fly machines and you want to just do some dumbbell flys on the ground, yeah good luck, about 5 people with the same struggle already beat you to it! If you’re just here for the basketball court, the trillion cardio machines, and all the amenities then you’ll have a blast, but if weightlifting is a meditative activity to you, you will leave this place feeling worse most times.

This gym has completely gone under. This is actually the first time I’ve had to type multiple reviews. $130 a month is fine if you actually have the equipment like Keiser, Sorinex, Rouge, Kabuki, to back up the price. The majority of all of techno gym equipment is over a decade old. This summer has been a complete zoo. Members vaping in the middle of sets & body odor everywhere. I know operations does a great job trying to do their best but the crowds are excessive and don’t do anything . Ultimate Hoops took a massive hit when pickleball took over courts. I already had a massive review about that. Letting Jason go was a mistake. There is only so much a GM can do with all the corporate red tape but Bahram and his executives seem to only care about Minnesota, Boca Raton, NYC. This is the only lifetime that has actually felt like a gym and not a Scientology resort that marketing tries to push it to be. At of the end of the day we are there to workout, train, and sport. I’m here almost everyday and my patience is severely tested more and more. I don’t blame the immediate staff this is a corporate issue and the way this gym is does not justify price ranges. Much better private facilities are available at cost. Please get it together we are not happy

I’ve been going here for a little over a year and I’ve never had a problem with the front service I lost my bracelet in the locker and Jessica helped me out and found my bracelet!! She was super sweet and understanding. This experience with Jessica really made me love this gym and environment a lot more. Thank you Jessica! We need more people like her!
