A bartender named Corey was very loud, rude and unattending. Walked in with my wife to order food and drinks. Received the drinks and menus, then just outright ignored. The place was not busy either. For 15 minutes, we listened and watched her go walk back and forth, either ranting about upcoming trip or socializing with her particular customers that she will serve. Ignoring us was obviously intentional. She was loopy and loud... almost as if she were on some sort of drug. It's too bad the owners have her represent their business. I was able to finally get her attention and pay the bill for the 2 drinks. She asked us if we were "going to a more popular place?".... very rude. We will not return if she is bartending.

One of the last bastions of the atmosphere and prices that working class 9 mile and Ryan deserves. Truly a relic. Will be sad to see prices increase and decor change but such is life. I wish this place the best in whatever iteration is to come. Viva la Shantie!

Hadn't been here since pre covid. It's a neighborhood bar with some great food and has been around for years. It's a simple menu with soup, salsa, burgers, steak, sandwiches, fish. I had the Philly steak with dries and dad had the Italian fish with fries and claw slaw. We both had a couple beers. Food was really good and so was the service. Would highly recommend coming here to help keep them afloat. They are usually jammed and unfortunately they were a little empty. So please support them. Plenty of parking, handicap parking, dimly lit and must have karaoke throughout the week or a dj for music. Both and tables are available. Accepts cash, credit cards, debit cards No reservations needed. Can accommodate larger parties

The only reason this dive-bar garnered three stars is due to the friendly waitress, great prices & the fact my mom & our neighbor liked their dinners. The “special” I had of “cajun cod” consisted of a small portion of undercooked fish, bland frozen mixed veggies & a microwaved baked potato that was as dry as the Sahara. The archaic decor is pretty cool & cozy. I’d be willing to give it another shot. I should have complained about my terrible meal, but for ten bucks I didn’t feel too ripped off.

Our waitress was so kind and the staff were very helpful as a team! And I can't forget to cook because the food was very good. The portions were enough that I took some home. It's a nice restaurant bar sit down atmosphere to enjoy time with your friends family and loved ones.

It is AMAZING that this place passes health inspections! Blue cheese dressing has mold in the bottom of container! Food is not dated or stored properly. Employees are drunk and there is no food safety procedures in place. Dirty and disgusting.

This place is rocking a vibe of a bygone era they offer a bunch of specials every day the staff is well seasoned and friendly the food was really good.

Had the fried cod with mac & cheese and a cup of clam chowder all for $9! Tasted great and at such a great price, I'll be back for sure!

Very nice neighborhood bar and grill, always very good service and the food is very good. Long Island's in a tall glass and only 3.50 and they don't skimp on the liquor, happy hour also

Decided to stop in for some food and a couple beers in remembrance of my father on the 15th anniversary of his passing. Him & my mom used to come here when they were younger, so I wanted to try it out for myself! I was very pleasantly surprised, it definitrly gave me a "old school dad bar" type of vibe which I loved & was exactly what I was looking for. the bartender Patty(I think?) was working on her birthday and provided lovely, caring service & was funny and attentive making sure everything was alright. I ordered fish and chips (something my father got there often) it was some of the BEST fish & chips I've ever had, plus the cabbage soup that came with was delicious, too!!! The beers were cold, the food was delicious, and the prices are shockingly cheap- all around one of the best experiences I've had trying a new bar :) I'm really glad it was one of my Dad's favorites, it made a really hard day be filled with some pleasant memories of a place he used to go to. I will definitely be coming back!

So after a funeral and being in town from out of state we chose the shantie which in reality seems like a mistake. To start off took 30 minutes to get a drink, we ordered $100 in food and when bringing our 2 Saganakis the bartender lit her hair and shirt on fire and dropped our food. We patiently waited and checked on the bartender only for her to come back in to go sing karaoke and we still hadn’t gotten drinks. We finally got drinks and the long islands were so watered down it was like drinking sun tea. We got our food my husbands burger came with no bun, and a salad when he asked for tomatoes and lettuce for the burger, our steaks were both over cooked and the fried shrimp was undercooked, we spent a total of 2.5 hours here waiting in intervals of 10-30 minutes in between each drink that we had and were told we had to leave because the bartender was concerned all 6 of us were too “drunk” when the drinks consisted more of ice, juice and water than anything . Best advice please go elsewhere when wanting to spend $300. The bartender with glasses seemed more interested in mingling with her regulars than making drinks for paying customers.

Went for a small get together for my 50th birthday party on a Wednesday. There were only a few regulars enjoying their evening so it was pretty slow. The food was great as always, the service was Ok.

I had some great food at this place and also met the beautiful lady behind the bar (Linda) today, she’s was so sweet and joyful..😋 The food was awesome..🙂

First time visiting Shantie last night at 8:45pm. No one greeted us at the door. No one offered to serve us as we waited for over 30 mins. This must be a members only club! NEVER AGAIN.........

The Shantie was our date night once a month. We stopped going here about 4 years ago because the quality of service and food went down. Even though my husband thought it was a bad idea, we gave it another try tonight, The table was sticky and dirty, the flaming cheese bread was doughy and bland, the toast for the club sandwich was burned, the fish was soggy, and the chili was runny....ugh Very bad idea, left disappointed and not happy.

Great food, faster service! Couldn't be happier. We've been there a handful of times during 2023.

I love this place! Huge menu, cocktails, like stepping back to 1983. Staff is experienced and friendly.

I just stopped in a random spot and was surprised. The food was pretty decent, and Mary, the waitress, is cute and probably been there since the establishment opened.

One of the best damn steaks I ever had. I didn't appreciate the attitude of the one server, the other server was fantastic.
