It's a beautiful place with numerous monuments and museums based on the History of America. Very interesting and informative. Can easily spend a day here by just strolling through the entire area visiting all the memorials. There's a lot of walking involved. It would be a pleasant experience. If you decide to visit the museums, it may take more than a day. So plan accordingly.

National mall is one of the most interesting and enjoyable places to visit in DC and, actually, in the entire country. Museums second to none, great memorials, and lots of tourists. The only blemish, truly embarrassing for our nation, is the toilet facility next to the Lincoln Memorial. Many establishments in Washington, DC, have serious problems with plumbing and sanitation. But this one is even worse than average. My wife and I visited the women an men facility, respectively. The lady’s room had a long queue (that took about 45 minutes) to reach one of three available stalls. The door of one of them was broken. The filth of the place according to my wife’s report could only be matched by the men’ facility with broken facets and suspicious liquid on the floor difficult to avoid. Not even restrooms in Central Park in NYC come close. And you are really well advised to avoid those at all costs if at all possible. --

Parking was a pain and I'm old and out of shape so I was done walking by the end of the day, but it was an absolutely amazing experience with the kids. We read all there was to read and looked up history on Google as we walked and talked. A wonderful day spent soaking up United States history! Every Monument is worth the time and effort - we were not able to hit them all, so we will be back.

It is simply amazing to be in one spot where you can take a Sunday stroll around a beautiful lake and blooming orchard of trees while seeing some of the most important and stunning monuments in the world! I only wish I had more time on my visit to simply walk around and take in the sights. I got to visit mid-morning on a Thursday in early March so the crowds were not bad at all.

Absolutely great! My son and I spent a lot of time walking the length of the National Mall. My only complaint? I wish there was a Metro station closer to the Lincoln Memorial. It's a bit of a walk from the Foggy Bottom or Smithsonian stations.

Great place to learn about our history. We enjoyed the sights and even went for a run around town. Parking is tough. Suggest using a scooter or bike to get around.

It's a beautiful place dotted with numerous monuments and museums throwing light on the History of America. Very interesting and informative. Can easily spend a day here by just strolling through the entire area visiting all the memorials. There's a lot of walking involved, but if weather holds good (not so hot/cold), it would be a pleasant experience. It was slightly drizzling when we were there and so we loved all the walking and could go on and on without getting tired. If you decide to visit the museums, it may take more than a day. So plan accordingly.

Beautiful place to see, to walk, have a talk with friends, and enjoy the surrounding. After all, you see the Lincoln memmorial as a reward, and it is beautiful. Part of history, and all for free.

National Mall is not a “Shopping Mall”. It is a National Park containing iconic monuments and memorials of some of the greatest people and events who shaped America as a nation. This is called the front yard of America and a symbol of democratic values. This is a green lush park between United States Capitol building to Potomac River. Every citizen of US should visit and explore these incredible memorials like Lincoln Memorial, MLK Jr Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Washington Monument, World War 2 Memorial and the list goes on and on. Park rangers offer variety of programs and activities free of charge, otherwise you can explore and enjoy the park in your way and pace. It’s lawns and pathways are mostly crowded by school children, joggers and visitors and tourists from all over the world. This is where the history is made and witnessed. The American forefathers and heroes are honored here who paid ultimate sacrifice for the country. This is the national stage where people gather and movements take place and their voices heard. Everyone should wander here in the tree-lined pathways and take in the scenery and history of America. There is lot of walking involved. This is open 24 hours and you can visit during anytime and enjoy the different beauty at different times.

This place is a gem, and not just for Ham Radio operators. If you're interested in old military technology, old space technology, proto-microwaves, or motors made in the 1880's, don't hesitate to check this place out. There are lots of hands-on, interactive displays, although it's hard to say if your kids would find this more interesting than your parents if they are veterans.

A very well maintained, spacious area. All the monuments and museums are beautiful and worth visiting. Definitely worth visiting during spring for the cherry blossom festival. I would recommend walking from end to end but there are circulator buses going from Lincoln memorial to the Capitol building.

The history surrounding the Lincoln Memorial makes its visit a learning experience for all ages. The view is very beautiful and the place clean besides all the visitors that come. Standing at the top of the Lincoln Memorial and seeing straight ahead the Washington Monument then the Capitol is breath taking. The Korean War Veterans Memorial is also a learning experience especially the representation of the soldiers in their attires and their facial expression is very touching. I will advise it as a family experience if possible. Wear running shoes o by walk for the monuments closed by each other's, it is more enjoyable this way.

Lovely, large, central tourist and historical area of Washington DC. Huge open space surrounded by museums and monuments. You can not explore it all in 1 day - you need at least 3. The grassy areas are good for spikeball (we saw several groups playing), picnics, or just viewing the architecture.

One of the gem 💎 of DC. This has history, nature, tranquility and peace all in one area. Walk as much as you want, sit as long as you want and play until dark on the sprawling grass. You can watch the beautiful sunset as well when the weather is good. Fall and Spring are the best time to enjoy nature here

This is part of the Honor Flight I was honored to attend as the Guardian for my Father. Korean War Vet. Words can not express the emotion or the overall experience this day was. To watch so many be there to support all the Vets that day was unbelievable. I will never forget this.

Great museum they have many amazing displays particularly defense systems and radar. It's almost the Westinghouse radar systems company Museum. Great for anyone interested in electronics military history or science and Engineering in general. Compared to a lot of other museums and attractions in the area is very reasonably priced at $7.

This is a pay to view Museum so check prices before showing. They do have association discounts when given the appropriate ID. What is interesting is that this is actually a Westinghouse Museum that applied and was given Federal status. The desk person was excellent and very knowledgeable. Oh, check out Jacob's Ladder, awesome! Overall, great place to geek out!

Great experience, only slight eye sore is that the surrounding area seems to be getting remodeled so expect some dirt and missing pavement. Other than that it was great. Lots of people everyday and lots of wide open spaces.

I actually really enjoy parks and this was very fun an enjoyable to walk down. I've visited DC many times so it's kinda lost it's luster but every time I walk from the Lincoln monument to the Washington monument I feel at peace. I wish the grass areas were more open and that the park had a more diverse plants but overall it's a very good spot. Also there are usually a lot of very nice dogs to pet when walking in this area.

The museums are always great to visit. Masks are required in all museums, and there are bag checks at all of them, too. There are not many water fountains and no water bottle filling stations in the museums we visited. Hand sanitizing stations are available. There are plenty of food vendors/ food trucks around the Mall. This Is Not A Shopping Mall. This is the strip from the Capitol Building to the Lincoln Memorial, called The Mall.

For people who like monuments, this is a great place to take a stroll and reflect on the history behind this nation, for good and bad. The museums are great, I especially enjoyed the art gallery and the museum of natural history. The museum of American history is also good.

They do a pretty good job of maintaining the grounds despite the best efforts of the populace to screw them up. The scale of some of the monuments is difficult to comprehend until you are there in person. I recommend a night tour. They are much more stunning when lit up.

What a beauty !!! 10 monuments and mini museums to see. Get ready to walk for one whole day , coming from a different state we were wowed ! Clean , beautiful park with so much history to beautiful pictures to take , parking was a bid of a hassle I have to say , and parking around it was 35+ for the day, we ended up taking the bus as stations/ stop where nearby where we were staying . Bring water , hats , sunscreen in the summer , they have ice cream trucks on each stop which it helped a lot !!!! Just an amazing place to visit

WOW!! MY first time here it was at night, just a last thing to go to wouldn't have missed a great time with my family. I had a great experience. Amazing PLACE . And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Hebrews 9:27,28

Museums here are awesome, best of all it's free. We went to the National Museum of Natural History, looking at giant fossils and animal displays, also the smallest and most expensive diamonds. There are a lot of food trucks around too. Their cheese steak are superb, beef is tender and flavorful.

Highly recommend buying the tour bus pass because it is a lot of walking expected, so if it is your first time, it is totally worth it and you can hop on and off as many times to discover the multiple stops along the way.

The entire “mall” was amazing. There were so many great views and museums to visit. Like any tourist location, I would recommend a weekday… but that also has its drawbacks. There are some school tours of some museums during school time.

Rating: ★★★★★ A spontaneous two-day trip to the National Mall in D.C. was a mesmerizing experience. The Washington Monument's observation deck offered breathtaking views of iconic landmarks. Walking the Mall, surrounded by history and war memorials, was both reflective and inspiring. The accessibility and rich heritage make it a perfect short getaway, seamlessly connecting visitors to America's past and present.

It's pretty, but it's boring with nothing to do but observe and be struck with the beauty of the capital city of the 19th best country on Earth. It feels a lot like being surrounded by giant tombstones. Anyway, the food vendors here are the worst rip off in the city, the Metro station is too far away, and the lack of public bathrooms is legit absurd

Amazing place to hang out! So nice to have such a large grassy area in the middle of the city. Also, many of the touristy attractions such as the Smithsonian and Washington Monument surround it if you are looking for a good centralized location to walk around in dc.

Of course with the pandemic it wasn't as crowded as it normally is which probably makes it all the more enjoyable. The weather was perfect which made it even better. What would have made it better would have been if the museums were open. We will definitely be visiting again.

The Washington City Canal, completed in 1815 in accordance with the L'Enfant Plan, travelled along the former course of Tiber Creek to the Potomac River along B Street, NW (now Constitution Avenue, NW) and south along the base of a hill containing the Congress House, thus defining the northern and eastern boundaries of the Mall. Being shallow and often obstructed by silt, the canal served only a limited role and became an open sewer that poured sediment and waste into the Potomac River's flats and shipping channel. The portion of the canal that traveled near the Mall was covered over in 1871 for sanitary reasons. The Smithsonian Institution Building ("The Castle") in 2007. Some consider a lockkeeper's house constructed in 1837 near the western end of the Washington City Canal for an eastward extension of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal to be the oldest building still standing on the National Mall. The structure, which is located near the southwestern corner of 17th Street, NW and Constitution Avenue, NW, is west of the National Mall (proper). The Smithsonian Institution Building ("The Castle"), constructed from 1847 to 1855, is the oldest building now present on the National Mall (proper).[19] The Washington Monument, whose construction began in 1848 and reached completion in 1888, stands near the planned site of its namesake's equestrian statue.

I enjoyed my visit to Washington D.C. the monument was much larger than I expected. Although the area was busy, we found a parking spot across from the monument and behind us was the White House. Now it was smaller than I had imagined. Surprisingly.

Had only a couple days, and the main monuments at the National Mall were high on the list. The memorials to those who fought and died in Vietnam, Korea and WWII were moving. Loved seeing the White House and the Capital Building from the Washington Monument. Paid homage at the Lincoln Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial. So glad I was able to go and experience a slice of history.

My 2 favorite monuments are the Lincoln Memorial for it's majestic, patriotic, and symbolic factors with exceptional craftsmanship. President Lincoln looks like he's looking right at you and ready to speak again. and the Korean War monument-- what a masterfully creative field of unique, real life depiction of these brave soldiers! It's beyond amazing when viewed at night... just like they're trudging through swamp fields!

One of the best museum's. See items from the pioneers of electricity to modern technology. See the radar that detected the Japanese attach on Hawaii. See items made by Tesla, Edison, and other geniuses. Great for the whole family. Interactive displays great for the kids and adults.

  • 3/5 mark b. 4 years ago on Google
This place is actually very interesting, a bit dated but some really good exhibits covering the development of electronics, more on the military side, but some civilian exhibits as well. The down side is they close at 4 PM, which means they close the cash register about twenty minutes early and are ready to exit the building right at 4 PM. They had a couple of souvenirs I wanted to buy on my way out, but everything was shut down and the lady at the desk didn't seem too interested in taking my money, so we both lost out. They should advertise this place a little better, I never knew it existed until I noticed the outside radar exhibits by chance as I was passing by.

  • 5/5 Matt H. 4 years ago on Google
While this is a rather small museum - it's nowhere near the scale of one of the DC Mall Smithsonian's or even the Maryland Science Center - it is still impressive the amount of electronics history that they have here. The exhibits cover the range of electronics history, from early vacuum tubes to modern, cutting edge defense electronics. Highly recommended for anyone in the area who's interested in electronics.

So you really need to be that science, engineering, technology, math loving nerd to want to come to this little gem by BWI airport. Parents, if you have a child that's into STEM and pointed towards an interest and possible career in the STEM areas, especially electrical engineering, you must bring them here. Unless there's a group of school kids here, this is one of those museums that is not overrun with a gazillion people, like a Smithsonian museum. But NOT for elementary school kids, unless you have a prodigy on your hands, so middle school and high school and up. One of the WWII displays is the SCR-2700 radar system, and the antenna is displayed outside. This was the first military radar system deployed operationally, and this particular unit was produced in 1943, this same type radar system detected the Japanese aircraft approaching Oahu on that fateful day, December 7th, 1941, a date which will live in infamy. Downsides are many of the displays need updating, they're too low to the floor, and the lighting is poor. I'm an amateur radio operator (N4VAE) and while the amateur radio station displayed was nice (and functional?), the video is really dated, circa 2006, and that won't do at all. All in all a nice little gem of a museum, but no where near Smithsonian quality. Not altogether unexpected from a relatively small not-for-profit organization.

  • 5/5 Donal H. 4 years ago on Google
Relatively small museum for the area, but packed full of electronics and radio history.

It's America's front yard. It stretches from the US Capitol in the east to the Potomac River in the west. This is a great place to tour the nation's monuments, museums, and other locations of interest. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as it'll involve a lot of walking. Lots of people will come here to get in a good run.

  • 5/5 Abram M. 2 years ago on Google
This is must see places , it is so full of history and so rich . All the monuments and historical buildings. It is also a great place for photo shoots. Including the great Abraham Lincoln monument, and the great Capital Hill buildings.

It was a really nice outing to go and see some of our country's history. The first pic is of the Supreme Court.NextThe Nation's Capitol. Then the National Monument. Then the White House from as close as you can get with a camera phone. Then Abraham Lincoln's Statue. The last one is of the National African American museum.

I love going to the National Mall. It is a great place for a walk and regular jogging/running. For visitors, public transit availability is low nearby, so it is best to wear proper walking shoes.

  • 5/5 Luke C. 2 years ago on Google
Visited the National Mall during the Cherry Blossom Kite festival. It was very open. Lots of space to run, sit, bike, walk, etc. There was a lot of food trucks, not sure if they are usually there, or if they were there due to the festival. Beautiful view of the monuments and the capital. A must see experience.

  • 5/5 proeis 2 years ago on Google
Great to experience DC and be amazed by the monuments and history of our country! Lots of walking but so worth it! Got lost trying to find the Thomas Jefferson memorial and coming back because of construction... Parked at the Reagan center and they were very welcoming and had bathrooms!

  • 5/5 Melissa C. 2 years ago on Google
It was beautiful. Breathtaking. If you look to one side you can see the white house, if you look to the other side you can see the Lincoln Memorial, to the other side you can see the Thomas Jefferson memorial, you can also see the capitol. And of course in the middle of it all is the George Washington monument. You can walk around, you can bike around, you can use one of the scooters. However you move around you’ll be sure to have a great experience. However if you decide to walk, bring comfortable shoes. We took about 21,000 steps walking around.

  • 5/5 Aimee L. 1 year ago on Google
Every visit to DC we like to walk around here. Love the cherry blossoms festival and came here for the 4th time now. Its always worth the drive. 2 days is not enough to visit all the museums so every year we come and visit.

  • 5/5 Jose C. 1 year ago on Google
What an incredible place, full of history. I have always liked to know important places, but this one left a mark. try to go all the way from the lincoln monument to the capitol, with a short detour to the white house. Walking is incredible, in the middle of the afternoon even better

  • 5/5 Joe H. 1 year ago on Google
This was our first time in Washington DC. First 3 days it was very hot and humid but over all we had a great vacation. The National Mall was interesting having everything pretty close together in walking distance. It was even more beautiful at night. We are glad that we went.

  • 5/5 Leilani-Z 1 year ago on Google
Full day of exercise and definitely could spend more days here. We parked at a nearby parking garage, and by the time we got back to the car at the end of the day, we had logged 9 miles. Beautiful and clean, so much to see and learn about. We went to almost all of the monuments and two of the museums. The ice cream / food trucks are great, but the music they play should be banned 🙈

  • 5/5 Anthony T. 1 year ago on Google
Not bad for a first-time trip to DC! The National Mall was full of beautiful monuments, galleries, museums, and other historical treasures. I would have needed a few more days to visit all of them, and I look forward to my next visit!

  • 5/5 Brian W. 1 year ago on Google
Wonderful open area to stroll in our nation's Capitol. The outdoor space is beautifully lined with shady areas with an abundance of open space as well. Each monument is well laid out and provides amazing views. Capping it off is the line of museums that ring the mall making this area a terrific place to spend time. So much to see and do and all located in walking distance of one another. Highly recommended!

  • 4/5 Elquis E. 1 year ago on Google
This was an unplanned day trip. It was a beautiful day, walked to the US Capital, took in all the views. Then wandered to the Mall, quite frankly there is plenty to see, learn and appreciate, without visiting the museums. I say that because the museum have the  timed tickets. Although free some required it, others have the option, a few museums are undergoing constructions. For this reason planning is best. Otherwise, there are  monuments, landscapes and architecture of the buildings. Comfortable shoes a most, depending the weather layers is best, food and drink is pricey. Bring patience for crowds and photo opts. There are  signage and large maps  around the Mall to find places. Worth exploring!

Beautiful park and just a big environment. Great for a good walk and even to get a bite somewhere. Walking from the Senate to the Lincoln memorial is great and beautiful, especially when it’s chilly. The day I visited they were cleaning the mirror so it was pretty ugly, but worth the visit.

  • 5/5 Anthony S. 8 months ago on Google
An absolute beautiful place to visit and take in all the monuments and history. To see this stuff on TV as opposed to seeing it in real life is night and day. I would definitely recommend everyone sees this at least once in their life if given the chance

  • 5/5 Pete T. 8 months ago on Google
So much to learn here. Monuments to some of the world's most influential figures, and more world class museums than you can possibly see in one trip. Friendly, clean, and safe, with ice cream trucks in absurd abundance!

  • 5/5 Rodrigo De L. 8 months ago on Google
This is beautiful and well taken care of. The grass is green and clean, the whole area feels airy and not crowded. It looks bigger on a map than it really is, you can go around the whole national mall seeing all memorials in about 2-3 hours. Just note that buses don’t reach some areas. There are also several restrooms around which is greatly appreciated, as well as little overpriced shops that offer refreshments.

  • 5/5 Faby F. 8 months ago on Google
We had a wonderful time as a family at the National Mall. There is so much to see, so be prepared for a lot of walking. There are vendors everywhere, so you can stay hydrated. We stayed outside of the city and took the subway. It was definitely more affordable and convenient. Parking is not easy to find. The entrance is free to see the monuments and museums; however, you do need reservations to enter the Air & Space museum. It's very easy. Just logged on their site and get the passes. They are free! Overall, it was a great experience!

  • 5/5 Brandon G. 1 year ago on Google
Really enjoyed scootering around the National Mall. Lots of things to see, lots of miles to go, it's a great thing there are plenty of available scooters that are easy to use and fairly affordable. Catch the monuments at dusk, they're mesmerizing... My favorite was the Thomas Jefferson memorial, and the Korean War Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial, and the Martin Luther King Memorial, actually all of them. Plan a day, bring a picnic, definitely recommend.

The Air and Space in Virginia is better than this one. The only complaint I have is this: About 15 mins before the museum closed, there was a staff member who was rude in her tone, telling everyone that we had to start making our way out. This is a museum and the place closes at 5pm. So, NO ONE should be telling or using an elevated voice to tell visitors that we need to start making our way out. I enjoy this place. But the staff made the visit less than enjoyable

  • 5/5 Laura L. 9 months ago on Google
This is not a place that I would have woke up one day and said... "Let's go to the National Mall!", however, my husband did, and I was delightfully surprised at its beauty, energy and undeniable history filled with people of every nationality and architectural eye candy as far as you could see. Definitely worth the visit, and take a few days to soak it all in ❣️

  • 5/5 jErUmB b. 7 months ago on Google
The place is for FREE! And a must visit if you're in Washington DC! Several monuments can be visited in here and it's walkable! SHAME on those visitors who just simply leaves their trashes! Don't leave your trashes but leave only good memories!

  • 5/5 Carl M. 7 months ago on Google
Awesome for family museum visits. Everything is well done. This is where you want to visit. Don't rush, it'll take multiple vacations to see it all. Also, a great location for a walk or run. Starting anywhere on the mall, head to the Lincoln memorial, turn and go back to the Supreme Court and circle back to your start, and it's about a 10k. Not gonna find better scenery.

  • 5/5 Joel V. 6 months ago on Google
Such a fun day exploring Washington DC! Today made me proud to be an American. If you get a chance, walk through all the monuments and read the quotes and history. Amazing history!! I walked through everywhere and didn't have to wait or pay. You can navigate on your own if you're determined and have google maps on your phone.

A great place for early spring or late fall to avoid massive crowds. Too many museums to name and great food options abound. History, current events. Architecture. Great sights all await on this visit.

Great museum, you feel you need days to read all the texts and captions. Needs time to go through everything. You need to book tickets in advance. The line is long but moves fast.

The monument has tickets opening at 10am am sold out at 10:01am. So best to have the fastest fingers around The view is really good from the monument and during fall, actually take a top view to find the best fall trees 😂 The reflection pool and Capitol is well seen towards the evening

A beautiful day to take a walk along the National Mall near the National Gallery of Art and the National Museum of the American Indian between the Washington Monument and the west side of the Capitol and the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial. Haven’t been in DC or on the Mall since September 2005

  • 5/5 Quentin B. 4 months ago on Google
The views of monuments, the museums surrounding, and the events and displays on the Mall are always worth a visit. I male it a point to walk through after work at least twice a week and often walk around it once on the weekends visiting a site or museum each time.
