As someone new to martial arts I didn’t know what to expect, but all their coaches are very patient and very knowledgeable. They prioritize technique for the intro classes. And as a former wrestler they have a great advanced wrestler class with fellow D1 Wrestlers. Their variety of classes will keep you coming back for more, so you can advanced your skills. Cleanliness 5 Stars Coaches 5 Stars Friendliness of community 5 Stars

Update 2 Received an unexpected call from what I believe is the owner or someone else Besides who I've been talking to. This is a small business that does have a code of ethics Policy and they have an anti discriminatory practice they say they have. I was at least advised that they utilize Them in ways that are reasonable and make everyone feel safe. In a practical means, i can't test this theory. I would not want to be putting myself in that type of harm's way looking at the situation as a whole. Here are some key points of our discussion... A. Un-Reasonable aggression in ways that would harm someone in a situation where they wouldn't be in most other cases- Speaking with The separate employee I am Almost Sure that this practice is prohibited however the new person advised Whatever happens kind of happens. So are these unreasonable uses of force looked down upon? I don't know for certain. B. The liability form that you sign does protect the smaller business, which is totally understandable. If someone's stronger than you wishes to utilize more than normal force and in a normal Reasonable situation where it's unnecessary and hurt you deliberately, you're just NOT protected.《 Nothing wrong with that just, be advised》. There is not really a strong, equal opportunity or discrimination stance of which would cause this not to happen a second time, for example. So someone training at this gym will just get abused If they are weaker Less skilled et cetera. I updated this down to a one-star. This is mainly due to how open this is to discrimination, unfair treatment, and an anarchy of a Situation with no feeling of protection for the customer. This is also based on the answers to the questions that I asked by now 2 individuals from this training facility. ************ Update.... I asked for some information regarding the code of conduct and maybe a demographic table to see what to see what people come here and choose to utilize the services. I was unable to get that i'm unable to know if they treat people fairly here based on a deliberation or something in writing. Unfortunately, without that information, I can not utilize this area and call it a place of training for me. Overall, this place seems unsafe from a management support perspective and I'll be looking elsewhere. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° A bit of a rocky Start right now. Overall I have a low rating. There are some peculiarities In which through a round of questions I'm sure I'll get some additional influence. Here's my Evaluation so far... 1. For those who are new, if you wish to call these people over the phone, you're gonna have to wait 3 to 4 days for an actual response. If you go in you have to go in after 1700. According to the representative. 2. I wouldn't say the people are actually nice And welcoming at least not in my experience. I was told this is a contact sport. There are connotations to take there and I took them. 3. The prices are pretty understandable, but I still recommend if you don't want to do it or 1st time, to not do a contract do the monthly even though it's more money. That way you can just leave if you don't like it. 4. If you're new ask questions that are important to you to ensure success for you. And to ensure you won't go in with any legitimate concerns. 5. You sign some sort of liability Paper, ask questions about it and if your answer is .... This is a contact sport, get somebody else!! Someone that actually can understand the question and answer it to what you're intending to figure out. 6. I intend to add some photos and an additional follow up

I’ve been training BJJ and wrestling here for about a year. It’s a great, positive environment. They’ve recently expanded their mat space and added another intro BJJ class, so you should have plenty of class options if you’re starting.

District MMA is a phenomenal training gym. I trained there a few times and used to go the the morning boxing classes with instructor Noel. He was very patient and helped me understand the fundamentals like stance, footwork, and how to throw punches. The workouts are also really good. I would be drenched in sweat after my classes. And everyone is really friendly and welcoming.

Honestly a pretty fantastic place. No matter what level you are, the instructors work to accommodate you. Beginner? No problem. Someone from DMA will 100% work with you to get you up to speed on technique and style. They're also incredibly warm and welcoming, friendly, and reassuring. You won't feel out of place here - definitely recommend DMA out of any other place in the area if you're serious about self defense. They'll make sure you're trained properly!

Great gym! I mainly went to Antonio’s boxing classes which were outstanding, but the other classes I tried were great as well. Antonio is a fantastic instructor who keeps you on your toes, literally, and is kind and excited to have you in the class.

When I initially visited District Martial Arts, I was met with friendly, humble, talented and knowledgeable martial artists that are enthusiastic and passionate about bettering the lives of their students. I only had a few chances to participate in a BJJ class and Boxing class but it’s a great, supportive environment. Extenuating circumstances required me to move shortly after signing up, but I hope to return in the summer and start all over with the crew at DMA! They have a ton of different clases, don’t postpone, give it a go, it’s never too late. Cheers, WW

DMA is one of the best gyms in the area-- not only does the gym have a wide variety of classes (jiu jitsu/MMA/wrestling/boxing/etc), but the atmosphere is both welcoming and friendly. Staff there support you no matter your level and get excited to watch you grow/train! The classes are challenging and instructors are motivating. When I first moved here I tried several gyms in the area and DMA is by far the best with a great combination of supportive staff, challenging classes, and camaraderie amongst other members of DMA. I have been with DMA for over a year and can confidently say it is 10/10 the best place to train in the area.

I absolutely love DMA. For boxers the classes teach technique, sparring, and stamina. Noel is a great coach. You will get an incredible workout while learning real skills - great fight gym.

I’ve been going in for a couple months now and the huge variety of classes made it easy to go at whatever time I wanted. All of the trainers were very helpful even if you didn’t get it the first couple times, so being inexperienced is no problem. Also all the people I took the classes with were extremely helpful when it came to minor mistakes I did and corrected me. 10/10 recommend if you’re trying to learn martial arts.

This review is for the Jiu Jitsu classes. I attended only two classes (one gi and one no-gi), and the instructors did a good job at explaining the techniques, even to a beginner like me. Teammates were kind, patient, and welcoming. Because of the limited mat size, you need to sign up in advance to secure a spot to attend a class, and a fee is charged if you don’t show up or if you cancel too late. It didn’t work for me due to some injuries, but based on my brief experience I would recommend it to anyone in Arlington interested in learning Jiu Jitsu.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place. I joined with NO experience with any form of MMA and was just looking for something to spice up my workout routine. From the initial request for information, to showing up to my first class and all classes beyond I was welcomed with open arms and immediately took my nerves away! The gym is clean and well cared for and the staff are all knowledgeable and take their time to improve your technique and answer any and all questions you have. Even the other members are all so nice and welcoming! There are also so many different class times and different forms i.e. yoga, wrestling, jiu jitsu, boxing etc. If you are even remotely interested, do it! I cannot recommend them enough.

Toba Ibrahimi: "What a great gym! The team members are very knowledgeable and friendly. Very good teachers, so it is great for new comers and people with a more experienced background. By far one of the best places to learn MMA in the northern Virginia area. Highly recommend giving this place a chance."

Pros: The gym offers a good variety of martial arts with instructors that are very knowledgeable and lead great classes. Cons: Gym is smaller so make sure to schedule classes enough ahead of time to ensure a slot in the class.

Its a great gym to train a variety of martial art disciplines: bjj, boxing, muay thai, judo, wrestling, etc. The classes are offered throughout the day and on the weekends. The instructors are very knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to help. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I'd highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to train martial arts or is just looking to get in shape.

Great gym, location, and staff! As a newcomer to Muay Thai, and Boxing I was super nervous to sign up for a class, but the coaches were so welcoming and helpful in teaching me the correct form and techniques, especially as a left-hander! The class was so exhilarating, fun, and full of energy that I didn't even realize an hour passed until the class was over. I love when you can get a total body workout without feeling the monotony and boredom of going to the gym. I would definitely recommend this to friends in the area and anyone interested in learning about any of the martial arts styles they offer. Thank you District Martial Arts!

This is a special gym. First and foremost, it is a friendly and safe place to train. Whether you are interested in training for competition or as a hobby the gym is a great place to learn and grow. I personally train BJJ and love the academy and the people who train here. Just top notch. I also can't say enough about the kids program. First off, any given class will have 3-5 senior belt adults looking after the class, providing a safe and extremely well-managed program. The main teacher, Kamal, is truly an elite fighter (UFC level), and provides amazing instruction to the little ones. To give a feel for the ethos of this gym, I want to share a picture from today's class. Charles, an instructor and member of the management team, saw that my son (who is special needs) was having a tough time, and just decided to sit with my guy for half the class. He has done this time and again, going out of his way to make my son feel welcome and cared for at the gym. Other clubs have asked my son to leave or made him feel like a bad apple, but not District. They guys are amazing and I am so grateful for the kindness they have shown to my kids. A+.

The best martial arts school in the DMV area and it's not even close. The instructors are excellent and invested in their students, and the gym has a welcoming and competitive atmosphere. I highly recommend DMA for anyone interested in trying jiu jitsu/boxing/etc, or serious competitor, as DMA is the highest quality there is.

Finding a gym can be challenging, but District Martial Arts can be the solution for you, like it was for me. It does not matter if you have professional ambitions or if it is the first time stepping on the mat. District Martial Arts has something for everyone. The DMA family is extremely welcoming. The instructors are experienced, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. DMA offers a safe clean environment to learn new skills and train with professional level athletes. The DMA community is special and provides a great environment to improve mentally and physically. When I first became a member almost 3 years ago, I immediately fell in love with the gym. From the training, to traveling to competitions, and even the social events. District Martial Arts has provided me training and skills that will last a lifetime, but more importantly it has provided me friendships and memories that I will cherish forever. I cannot recommend this gym enough!

My 13-year-old son has been in the kids program for one year and I have been practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for three months. The impacts of BJJ have been transformative on and off the mat for our entire family. The kids program has a high teacher to student ratio and a strong team spirit. Multiple coaches serve as leaders and mentors to my son, teaching him values of self-respect, discipline, integrity, and mostly importantly, showing him how to be good man. I started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu because my son was beginning to show signs of feeling protective of me and in order to ease that burden, I wanted him to see me taking responsibility of protecting myself. But other more surprising benefits have kept me coming back to District Marital Arts. First of all, as a woman, it’s been incredibly empowering, both physically and psychologically. Secondly, it’s the best work out of my life, and I haven’t had abs like this since I was 17. Thirdly, as an athlete I have appreciated being coached again. The coaches watch my development and are committed to my growth as an athlete. Fourth, the community here is deep. Bonds are made on and off the mat, and everyone is friendly, humble, respectful, and kind. As a woman I have never felt more supported, safe, and at home in a male dominated space. In summary, I highly recommend District Martial Arts to parents and their kids. It is worth every penny, and there are many aspects of belonging to this gym that are actually priceless.

As a wrestler myself, this place truly offered a room of a bunch of other capable wrestlers to spare/go live with. It was very welcoming from the first day and would recommend to anyone in the area.
