This was a check off my bucket list. This was my favorite part of my whole trip, I didn't want too leave. You would have thought I would have taken more pictures, but my emotions got the best of me. It was extremely crowded, everyone seemed to be drawn in by this man, "who was larger than life."

Reality Vs. Expectations 😊 These pictures I posted are reality . The place is crowded with tourists or locals , just people all over the place . It was fun , a lot of walking going around all the tourists spots In Washington . Going to Lincoln Memorial is quite a challenge for your feet. Make sure you have a good pair of sneakers 😊 or rent a scooter or bicycle . It was fun going around on scooter . Just need your phone and credit card. Different scooter has different price. Goodluck 😊 Lincoln Memorial reminds me of the movie “ Night at the Museum” . Lots of tourist taking pictures . Nice to sit down after a long walk and pictures taken . Breathe in and breathe out and enjoy .

I flew to DC in November. We decided to visit the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument. No regrets! The park is very historic with lots to see. The souvenir shop nearby is worth checking out. They have postcards and other gifts. It was checked off my bucket list.

Very awesome iconic site! The total cost is $0! This place is equipped with an elevator, bathrooms, little indoor museum area and gift shop. But most importantly, you can get some really cool photos of the Lincoln Memorial. Nice views from here of the reflection pool as well. Definitely check it out along with the other memorials when you're visiting Washington DC. 5/5. _____________________________________________________ Follow me for more reviews, tips and photos!

A very special experience. I walked to it on a very cold Wednesday late morning and was one of very few around. The open air and cold wind passing through didn’t take from the stillness, the equanimity of this place. I’m thankful for the time I spent here reflecting on a life well lived.

Visiting the Lincoln Memorial is always an awesome experience. Designed by Henry Bacon (1866-1924), it was constructed between 1915 and 1922. This is the closest the US has to a secular shrine. Perfectly located at the end of the Mall on the opposite end from the Capitol, the views across the Mall and the Reflecting Pool are epic. The Gettysburg address inside is a must read.

My visit to the Lincoln Memorial was truly great! The grandeur of this iconic monument is awe-inspiring. Standing in the presence of Abraham Lincoln's larger-than-life statue and gazing at the beautifully designed memorial is an experience that fills you with a sense of reverence and appreciation for American history. The peaceful reflection pool in front of it adds to the overall tranquility of the setting, making it a perfect place for contemplation and taking in the significance of Lincoln's legacy. If you're in Washington, D.C., a visit to the Lincoln Memorial is an absolute must; it's a profound and memorable encounter with the nation's history and values.

The Lincoln Memorial, situated on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., is a testament to both architectural magnificence and historical significance. Yesterday, I had the privilege of standing before this awe-inspiring monument dedicated to one of America's greatest leaders, Abraham Lincoln. The sheer size and grandeur of the memorial left me speechless. The larger-than-life statue of Lincoln sitting majestically in his chair, gazing out over the Reflecting Pool, emanates a sense of strength and wisdom. Inside the memorial, the carefully carved words of Lincoln's iconic speeches resonate deeply, reminding us of his unwavering dedication to freedom and equality. Visiting the Lincoln Memorial was a humbling and thought-provoking experience that allowed me to reflect on the timeless ideals upon which our nation was built.

I’ve visited the memorial a few times. Unfortunately, it is undergoing some extensive renovations at the moment so, it’s not as aww inspiring as it usually is, but it’s still a “Must See” if you’re in the National Mall area! I recommend getting there early to avoid the peak crowds.

Lincoln. What more can you say? This monument is a staple in your travels of DC. Even under construction, it is a sight to behold. Even whole under construction, they disguise the pillars with a wood combo that mimics the patterns of the existing pillars. When there in the rain, remember that there is a slip factor to the natural stone. There is a quietness in the building that is appreciated with the number of people in one place. A moment to take in such a magnificent piece, to feel the magnitude of a leader of our growing world. A man with the Emancipation Proclamation to put an end to slavery. Take time in your travels to pay a visit to our old president Lincoln. Sit and share a moment reflecting in those times that and know that while you are just one person, you may never know the difference you can make.

The Lincoln Memorial is an iconic and awe-inspiring monument in Washington, D.C. Its grand architecture, featuring a colossal statue of Abraham Lincoln, is a testament to the nation's history and values. The Reflecting Pool and views of the Washington Monument and U.S. Capitol create a picturesque setting. Whether you're there for its historical significance, a peaceful moment of reflection, or to enjoy the breathtaking nighttime illumination, the Lincoln Memorial is a must-visit destination that embodies the spirit of the United States.

Extraordinary experience! The Lincoln Memorial gets proportionately larger the closer you get, and when you think what it symbolizes, it's larger than life. It's also the best spot on the National Mall to catch the most patriotic 4th of July fireworks with stunning views. The giant memorial starts casting a protective shade for the crowds around 3pm, which also makes it one of the most comfortable spots to wait in. This is an impressive place to visit all year around, day or night.

I'd rate the Lincoln Memorial in DC with four stars. While it wasn't my absolute favorite monument, I must admit that the view from there is undeniably pretty. The grandeur of the Lincoln statue and the historical significance of the location are impressive. It's a great spot for reflecting on American history and enjoying the view of the Reflecting Pool and the Washington Monument in the distance. However, the crowds can be overwhelming, and the interior space can feel a bit cramped during peak times. Nonetheless, it's a must-visit for anyone exploring the National Mall.

If you go here, PLEASE RESPECT that this is a MEMORIAL! If you’re bringing children or a tour group with you, make certain they know this as well! A group of loud teens who were only interested in taking selfies ruined this visit for all the rest of us.

As a history enthusiast and avid traveler, I recently had the privilege of visiting the iconic Lincoln Memorial, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Located at the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C., this magnificent monument pays tribute to one of America's greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln. Upon arriving at the memorial, I was immediately struck by its grandeur and timeless beauty. The towering statue of Abraham Lincoln seated majestically in the center of the memorial's interior is a sight to behold. The attention to detail in the sculpture is truly remarkable, capturing the essence of Lincoln's strength and determination. The memorial's design is equally impressive. The neoclassical architecture and the Greek Doric columns evoke a sense of solemnity and reverence, making it a perfect setting for reflection and contemplation. The massive size of the monument is humbling and makes you appreciate the significance of the man it honors. One of the highlights of my visit was reading the inscriptions of Lincoln's famous speeches etched into the walls of the memorial. Standing in the very spot where history was made, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of connection to the past and the values that have shaped our nation. The Lincoln Memorial also offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Reflecting Pool, the Washington Monument, and the Capitol Building. Visiting during sunrise or sunset is an absolute must for capturing stunning photographs and witnessing the play of light on the marble surfaces. Accessibility is excellent, with ample parking and nearby public transportation options. The memorial is open year-round and admission is free, making it a must-see destination for locals and tourists alike. The Lincoln Memorial is more than just a tourist attraction – it's a place where history, art, and patriotism converge. Whether you're a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or simply looking to immerse yourself in a powerful and meaningful experience, a visit to the Lincoln Memorial is an absolute must. I left with a renewed sense of appreciation for our nation's history and the enduring legacy of Abraham Lincoln.

The last (or the first) monument on The Mall - and quite a spectacular one! It’s a statement monument rising above the reflecting pool and housing a statue of a sitting Abraham Lincoln made of white marble. There are some stunning views from the monument towards the reflecting pool and Washington monument. The Capitol can be seen as well, just not from the middle as it’s hidden behind the Washington monument. The steps are steep but safe, as the surface is not smooth, so even during the rain it’s perfectly safe to walk on them. The only problem with this place is how incredibly crowded it gets, be prepared to be pushed over by others, unless you visit early in the morning or late at night, and even then you won’t be alone. I visited at 6:30 AM (it was still dark) during the cherry blossom festival in March and several people were already wandering around. I also preferred the marvelous neoclassical memorial during low light conditions, it added another dimension to my experience. There is nothing inside apart from the statue of Lincoln and inscriptions of two of his speeches, nevertheless it is an amazing place to visit! Plenty of parking in the proximity and surrounding streets, you just have to come early enough to secure a spot. Visited in March 2023. PS: While walking on the stairs to the memorial, lift your eyes up to the frieze (top part of the building) and look at the inscription of the names of 36 states that were part of the Union at the time of Lincoln’s death.

The Lincoln Memorial is an awe-inspiring tribute to a visionary leader. The colossal statue of Abraham Lincoln exudes gravitas, while the surrounding marble columns evoke a sense of grandeur. Standing on the steps, I felt a deep connection to history and the ideals Lincoln stood for. The Reflecting Pool adds a sense of tranquility, allowing for introspection amid the bustling city. The memorial's significance as a symbol of unity and freedom is palpable, making it a must-visit. Whether day or night, the Lincoln Memorial is a testament to enduring principles and a reminder of the progress we strive for.

Historic, larger than expected, beautiful and powerful monument. Would recommend coming with a local guide to learn the history- way too much to put in a Google review. Did go on a weekend and it was very busy, however worth it. A good amount of walking is required.

Beautifully designed and built, this was on our bucket list for the capital visit. We first went in the afternoon and came back because of the lineup. We went again at night, easily found parking and there were hardly 30-40 people and no lineup. The only disappointment was the cockroaches crawling on the steps. This is a historic place and should be maintained as such

I was about leave DC after a day trip and decided to pay a visit to this place just before leaving and it was totally worth it. The building structures of the important places in DC looks more or less same and it kind of represents greek architects. I have seen the statue of President Lincoln in many movies but seeing it in real life is something else. Visiting the place during daytime is highly recommend because then you can enjoy the full beauty of the natural pool and the white building also looks phenomenal with the blue day sky. I was circling around the place to find a parking then one of the police told me that I can park my car anywhere on the street that has a meter. Then again after circling around few times I found the parking for the memorial. There’s a sign for it and it’s located at the opposite side of the Memorial right beside the water.

Good memorial. Well maintained. Washroom is also available here plus there are few fast food vendors also here. Do wear comfortable clothes and shoes as you will have to walk quite a lot to see everything around this place. Even white house is at a walking distance.

Great place to see, the statue is very huge in size and the over all memorial looks marvelous, with lot of historical value. You get a totally different vibe when you are here. One could seee the national monument war memorial Korean war memorial, Whitehouse etc around this park. Reflecting pool and jefferson memorial are few other major attractions around this place.and the good thing is all of these are located with in walkable distance. And could cover all these with less than half a day.

We visited in Fall season, and if you have the chance I'd suggest you do the same, as this can be a very busy area of the Washington Mall. The Lincoln Memorial is at the far west end of the Mall, and if you're like us, you'll find yourself walking from one end to the other making as many stops as your time allows. If you visit the Washington DC Metro website, you'll be able to see that the train and bus lines make stop/s along the Mall. I remember the 1st time we were in DC about 10 years ago, We bought what was I think a multi-day pass, used the heck out of it, and our car didn't leave our hotel the whole time we were there! But, back the the Lincoln Memorial. It wasn't as crowded, as I stated the BUSY tourist season was over. Such a beautiful building. If you're able, take the time to walk around like we did, and take in the different views of the city at every turn. Also, don't forget a good pair of shoes and have you phone charged, as you'll be taking SO many photos.

A great place to spend the day walking around the city and watching such beautiful places. The only thing I will tell you is that in architecture and terrain it is not provided for how the sound spreads and if you have sensitive ears, it can be very noisy when a plane or helicopter flies.

There was a renovation job that covered half of the stairs, so that the statue cannot be easily seen from the outside. We have to climb up the stairs until the exact level where the statue positioned. Nevertheless, it’s still a good experience to see with own eyes the renowned statue we used to see in hollywood movies 😊.

The memorial was well organized, spacious, and well thought out. It was more than visiting an art museum or gallery. It teaches you to appreciate your country and soldiers who fought on behalf of you. I would advise you to take time exploring and reading the explanations.

One of the most jaw dropping monuments in the US commemorating arguably the greatest president in American history. Stop, admire the detail, the words, the sculpting, and check out the small museum on the first floor. This is a great monument to visit at all times of the day.

This is a definite don’t miss when walking the mall. I viewed it during the day and did a night bus tour that stops here. Unfortunately I did not have my phone working (battery 🙄) so I could not view. I believe there is an elevator but if you can do it I recommend the stairs. Seeing Lincoln for the first time is pretty amazing. Once you are at the top the view of the mall is breathtaking. It never gets old walking the Mall.

Definitely a site to see. You cannot really fathom the magnitude of its size until you visit in person. Many people took the tour but it really isn’t necessary if you just want to see the memorial.

Visited early in the evening thus can avoid crowd and much better to see the lights on. Place is amazing and we can see how our forefathers established themselves and how they protected our nation. But sad that some IGNORANT/SHAMELESS PEOPLE WHO LACKS RESPONSIBILITY leaves their trashes everywhere! Be sure to leave only your footsteps and NOT TRASHES!

Some remedial works underway which some would say takes away from a visit to this very large memorial, however I like the uniqueness of the view and photo I was able to capture as a result, and fortunately this only prevented us walking around the outside - Lincoln’s statue was still available to visit, and well worth doing so. The view back towards Washington Monument and the Capitol is of course iconic so it’s no surprise this is a clear favourite on the National Mall.

The Lincoln Memorial - I used to be here on December 2019. The iconic monument made my most memorable DC experience ever with the view is breathtaking. From National Geography: "The Lincoln Memorial, a landmark in Washington, D.C., was unveiled to the public and dedicated on May 30, 1922. Symbolism and scale leave a strong impression on the millions who visit the monument, now celebrating its centennial."

A well know place and well worth the visit. Absolutely beautiful views all around with plenty of waking paths to see many of the sites on the area. Parking can be quite difficult as can navigating the area if you are not familiar. Come prepared to walk. Also not their are restrooms there, and an elevator if you do not feel like traversing all the steps.

This is my favorite building in all of Washington, DC. You can feel the power of history from the steps, imaging events like Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech. The building is a classic and perfect form. The views of the Washington monument and Capitol building are incredible. A short walk from the building you can check out the WWII memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and the Vietnam War Memorial. It is also a nice walk from here to the Washington Monument. Love this monument!

First time in DC from the west. I spent some time in Philadelphia area but never had a chance to come here and finally got to see Lincoln Memorial Statue and very overwhelming once you are close to him. Growing up in South Korea, I studied little bit of Lincoln's footprints in US history and found out his sublime works which inspired me greatly growing up. I want to come back here and spend some times with this beautiful surroundings. Highly recommend everyone to come and say Hi to our Lincoln!

It was great and the atmosphere there and around it was awesome. There is a shop inside i did not expect and a random room to the right. The stairs are pretty cool. There are a lot of stairs. There are street vendors outside of it and there is parking like a mile away. If you go here any time of day you will be happy and will definitely not regret your decision. If your in the District of Colombia, this is a must see spot.
