👍👍 If you’re visiting DuPont, I highly recommend stopping by. Tours are 15 minutes past the hour, running all day for free (be careful - they’re very punctual). Beautiful home with a lot of DC history (but I’ll admit I go for the pretty staircases and tapestries). People often mention tour, Anderson, House, wedding, house, history, venue, guided, visit, recommend,

What a hidden treasure. Built in 1905 to host dignitaries. Donated to the Society of Cincinnati. Exceptional event space and catered dinner was delicious.

As a native of Germany who is a wedding photographer in the DC metro area, I can tell you that it's hard to find wedding venues that make you feel like you're getting married in a European castle. But Larz Anderson House is the exception. You can practically feel the history of the place as soon as you step in the door, and every element of the venue has the heavy solidness that all of the best Old World locations have. The marble and granite floors and walls; the gold accents and the gorgeous artwork also give a marriage celebration there an undeniably luxurious vibe. A truly one-of-a-kind wedding venue in Washington, DC!

The Anderson House museum is one of my favorite museums in D.C. It is quiet yet packed with so many beautiful architectural details. It consists mostly of several large rooms but the entire left wing of the building is for private use and is thus not open to public visitors. The guided tours are time efficient and professional but I find it best to visit when they host events and musical performances.

This was such a wonderful visit. I did the guided tour so that I could see all of the rooms. Our docent was lovely and unfortunately don't recall her name. Tour is about an hour, and not only were we able to ask lots of questions, but we were able to take pictures as well. As a native of the DMV I haven't heard of this place but so happy that I stumbled across it. It's definitely worth a visit!

Incredible interiors and furniture. There are only guided tours every hour (10:15, 11:15 etc), they are free and really interesting.

Such a beautiful house! The tour was quite quick, maybe 40 minutes, and our tour guide Diana i believe was just great! So softspoken and well informed, it was a pleasure

What a wonderful find in the District! This mansion feels like it belongs in Newport, Rhode Island on Bellevue Avenue. A wonderful example of wealthy Gilded Age life and architecture. Our docent was so knowledgeable and entertained a wide variety of questions. At the end of the tour, there is an exhibit about the house and it's history in Washington Society that was fascinating. I will most definitely be back!

It's obvious that the Larz Anderson House is nothing short of spectacular! I've had the opportunity to photograph a few weddings and several events at the Larz Anderson House and aside from the beauty of the location, their staff is quite awesome!!!

So glad the reviews popped up when I was searching for recommendations to lunch near the Phillips Collection. We were extremely impressed with the house and the story of the family who built it. The story of the Society of the Cincinnati was an unexpected bonus.

Admission is free, but the experience is worthless. This one-hour lecture summarizes everything I hated in my history classes in high school. A teacher is thinking that she keeps the audience engaged, she talks about her life, and various deviations from the main theme. She complains the group is too large (she prefers 6-8 people, we had 12), but the thing is she needs a small group only because in small group you cannot freely wander around taking photos, reading signs, and googling missing information. Because this class sucks, and you'd rather read a textbook in the evening. In the end I'd prefer this tour to be paid for, and with professional guide. The building is cool though. The all-male hereditary society sucks, but who am I to judge? (I'd prefer them not to have any tax benefits though) And of course most of the reviews here are about using this as a venue for weddings. It must be better without a guide.

Look no further than the Larz Anderson House if you're searching for an event site that's stunningly elegant, historical and offers incredibly unique spaces for creating memorable affairs. The main ballroom, winter garden, outdoor garden and dramatic staircase leading to the second floor are ideal for weddings, galas and social entertaining. Glenn and the events management team are always so helpful, accommodating and joy to work with throughout the planning process.

This is a definitely a hidden gem in DC! Our guide was funny, knowledgeable, and showed us around for almost an hour. Her views were very nuanced and I learned a lot after it. Although the art and furniture does not have any sense of cohesiveness, the house has an amazing collection of Japanese art (pottery, paintings, sculpture, Ivory, etc) that is well worth stopping by. I highly recommend this place. I'd recommend to look into the times and go whenever the guide is available. I went on a Sunday around noon. It really makes a difference. Also, you don't have to pay anything to visit. 10/10

Recently took the guided tour at Larz Anderson House in Washington DC. Impressed by the fascinating collections inside the house, and the guided tour provided valuable insights. A pleasant surprise was discovering a Buddha statue, adding an unexpected cultural touch. A unique and enriching experience! 🏛️

There is some hard-to-define quality about Anderson House that makes it unusually uplifting, particularly once the tour starts getting you more deeply inside. The architectural design, inside and out, is exquisite. The windows on the south side bath the interior in light. The back garden is beautiful. It is meticulously maintained. Highly recommend a visit.

No expense was spared in the construction of this house and also of its furnishings. Exquisite architectural detail and eclectic collection of artwork. Very impressive turn of the century mansion. Free guided tours start every 15 past the hour. First tour starts at 10:15 AM. Very knowledgeable and passionate docents. Tour is supposed to last 45 minutes. For some reason, the one I was on lasted about 2x as long. Highly recommended!

A beautiful historical estate to visit, close to the Dupont metro north exit. It's free and there's a guided tour which was wonderful.

Walking into the Anderson House will take your breath away. This building exudes an unparalleled feeling of opulence and historic charm. Surrounded by the grand chandeliers, marble staircase, monumental ornate frames and reflecting pool, you will feel like royalty everywhere you turn. Every corner of this exquisite wedding venue makes for a perfect photo background.

Anderson House hosted my wedding on New Years Eve and I must say it was the most mind-blowing experience I could have imagined. Glenn was so accommodating and always so happy to help us. The day of the wedding, he had a way of making you feel like you were the only bride in the world. The venue itself is incredibly photogenic & historical. It felt as though we were welcomed in someone's home. It truly is a magnificent experience and I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone to host your wedding at this venue. Thank you Glenn and the team at Anderson House. You made our dreams come true, in such a special and memorable way.
