Absolutely disgusting and the room is covered in bugs. When brought up to MULTIPLE staff. They disregarded it as fine. And there are over 50 in this room. Unacceptable.

One of my Dear friends just stayed here. I am so disgusted with how the nurses have been treating her. My friend broke all the bones in her ankle and the 2 main bones in her bottom leg. She was holding a pillow to release the pain she has huge pins holding her bones together. And one of the nurses literally threw the pillow at her leg. Then another nurse was trying to give her meds to her in the dark and she told her to turn the light on. So she can see. And she said no I do it all the time. I know what I am doing. Well all her medicine spilled under her butt did not go into her iv. The nurse told her she had to wait until the next time because she didn't know if she got any. So she had to wait 5 hours before she got any pain meds. Then on top of it she ordered food and she got someone else's breakfast. That they already ate. And she rang for someone to assist her for help. When she needed help with something. No one helped her for 5 hours. You are better off going somewhere else. They literally will leave you to die at this hospital. I am so appalled how anyone would treat people this badly. I would leave negative stars if I could.

Great doctors' offices on the north end where we have had many appointments. There is a nice Grounds for Coffee with good coffee and good prices and a list of teas that almost made me change my order from coffee to tea. On the south end is the hospital, ER, gift shop with many varied items and jewelry. A cafeteria with many options, good food, good prices. Pay and turn right, heading outside, where there are many tables in a beautiful, peaceful setting with a low waterfall and colorful, cheerful landscaping. Always before had arrived for appointments, immediately leaving, never realizing there was such a comforting place available on the hospital grounds. Only inconvenience is the construction both inside and outside that will be completed quickly if we're lucky.

The registers in the ER could NOT care less about patients. A little communication would go a long way. My daughter was screaming on the floor with a 9 mm kidney stone. I asked if she could at least go somewhere where we wouldn’t have everyone staring at her , they said no! The sign says they take people back based on severity. A 9 mm stone is pretty severe. They are numb to the needs of their patients and should all be fired! Absolutely unacceptable in 2023!

Marnie in GI was our nurse and she was the best! She was very thoughtful, checking on our needs and treating my husband with such care. She was also really pleasant and fun to talk to and walked us through everything so we felt prepared for what would happen and what to expect. I’m grateful for nurses like her! The world needs more of them. Also, Dr Sherman was awesome! My husband said he has great bedside manner and was kind and thorough!

The care while you're there is great, however I was told we were waiting for a medical device to be approved by insurance before being discharged, then my son was discharged a couple hrs anyways without any warning that the approval had not gone through, just instructions on where to get the device. I called insurance when I arrived to pickup and found out that it was not already approved and they said it takes days and to call the hospital back to get further instructions or see if I could rent or borrow one. The response on my question about discharge instructions was "no, sorry it's done, he's already been discharged and all you can do is come to the clinic when he needs it" and added I can instead grab an alternative from the store (less powerful and the clinic the niight before informed me wwould not have been nearly as helpful). We have had extensive visits with Dr's, and it wasn't even our first trip to a hospital for this particular illness. It may not have been so bad if I had been warned that insurance had not responded and had the time to call and find out why instead of being discharged without access to the equipment they felt was necessary enough to write a prescription for, but somewhere the communication was screwed up and the advice and care less than helpful after the fact. Again, while we were there, the care way great

The ER at McKay Dee Hospital is a 0! The nurses and the care and how they treat patients coming to the ER is Ridiculously and Getting Really Bad! I threw up in there Er! I got there on a Saturday afternoon and I didn't get called back till 530pm!! I had the most horrible care from the So called Nurses in the ER! THEY would not take me back and kept on Pushing me aside and not taking me back in a Room...I was having seizures in the Wheelchair! What is wrong with this Hospital? Yes it's a Saturday Afternoon? Every seat was taken! But not my dang Fault! I was having seizures that wasn't stopping! I was treated so bad I'm going to try to get this Hospital Sued! The ER nurses were overheard saying I keep telling the Ambulance Drivers not to bring in any more patients ! And she was a witch ! Excuse me the professionalism of these ER Workers are Absolutely the Worst I've ever seen in my life ! I'm not going to ever if I can help it ever go to this hospital in an Emergency! If you are a person or color, DO NOT utilize this hospital. They are predatory and will do their best to ruin your finances and try to commit medical fraud trying to charge you for services you did not receive. I have been a patient here before and I do not recommend them. They charged my partner double for lab services they only received once. Then immediately after that settled their account (paid in full, over $1700), they attempted to tack on an additional $300. Go to the University of Utah hospital. You’ll receive better care and fair service, not to mention, you will not be scammed.
