when i went the elevator was out of service, so ascension + descension was done via escalator. My experience of the banksy x basquiat exhibit was that it was small and I was tired. The OSGEMEOS: Endless Story exhibit was incredible. The breadth and depth of the project was mindboggling. Would recommend going to the Hirshhorn just to see that exhibit.

Great museum! Didn’t see it coming. We went to see a Banksy and Basquiat collaboration and got lost in multiple spaces. The OSGEMEOS exhibit is something special. History of the twins doing their graffiti art from 40 years ago in Brazil working with their team today. Awesome! It could be the best put together exhibit my partner and I have seen.

Visited this wonderful, gem of a museum over the long weekend. Getting to see Osgemeos’ psychedelic pieces was the highlight for me. It wasn’t crowded in any of the spaces/exhibits and felt very comfortable to stroll through. This museum is definitely worth checking out!

Truly enjoyed this museum. The ground level has a nice common area with a coffee shop. The architecture and design of the building is unique. A fantastic collection of art. Can definitely recommend.

This was my first time at the Hirshhorn, and as a lover of street and modern art, I can’t believe I haven’t been here before! The BASQUIAT × BANKSY exhibit was interesting but a bit underwhelming. The highlight was two large pieces—one from each artist—with a few smaller Basquiat works, but the exhibit felt limited in scope overall. On the other hand, the OSGEMEOS exhibition was absolutely incredible. It was overwhelmingly impressive, offering an endless array of unique mediums and stunning pieces by the twin brothers from Brazil. This may be the most comprehensive exhibit I’ve ever experienced outside of something like the Van Gogh collection at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. It’s on display until October 2025, and it’s worth visiting the Hirshhorn just for this. Plan to spend 90 minutes to two hours to fully take it all in. The coffee shop at the entrance is great too, serving local craft roaster beans and pastries. Highly recommended—I’ll definitely be back!

Very huge and great collection! It was the first museum I visited in Washington. Modern art lovers absolutely must see it, there are many artworks. If you check the schedule on the website, you can also join events and workshops!

The Hirshhorn Museum, part of the Smithsonian Institution, is Washington, D.C.’s leading museum of modern and contemporary art. Located on the National Mall, its distinctive circular building and surrounding Sculpture Garden make it a visually striking destination before you even step inside. The museum features rotating exhibitions that showcase both emerging and established artists, with work spanning painting, sculpture, video, performance, and large-scale installations. Recent exhibits have included pieces by Yayoi Kusama, Barbara Kruger, and Mark Bradford, often with immersive or thought-provoking themes. The Sculpture Garden, located across the street, is a highlight in itself—offering a quiet, open-air space to view works by artists like Rodin, Calder, and Bourgeois. The Hirshhorn isn’t a traditional art museum—its focus is bold, experimental, and sometimes challenging. It’s a great place for visitors who are interested in contemporary art or looking for something a little different from the classic museums nearby. Interactive elements and multimedia installations make it accessible and engaging, even for those new to the art world. Admission is free, and the museum is relatively easy to explore in one visit. Special exhibitions (especially popular ones like Kusama’s Infinity Rooms) may require timed-entry passes.

I've been to the Hirshhorn museum many times at this point but I think this year has some of the best exhibits. Kusama was good i personally thought that the banksy basquiat was over hyped but its a great museum and let us not for get about the delicious hand crafted gelato! This is a top on the mall museum! 😄

Wow!!! Such an amazing art museum, especially to see BASQUIAT and BANKSY and Osgemeos exhibits. The art museum is relatively small and so easy to navigate. Don’t miss the sculpture garden out front. You can also grab a coffee and a snack in the lobby or just sit and enjoy the beautiful view.

Title: Art, Ice Cream, and Inspiration: The Hirshhorn Delivers! Review: My recent visit to the Hirshhorn Museum was an absolute delight and one of the highlights of my time in DC. The museum's unique approach to contemporary art captivated me when I entered. The OSGEMEOS: Endless Story exhibit was a kaleidoscope of color and imagination, pulling me into a whimsical, dreamlike world. In stark yet fascinating contrast, the Banksy exhibit delivered sharp, satirical social commentary that left me reflecting long after I left the gallery. The juxtaposition of these two artists was nothing short of brilliant. Exploring the outdoor sculpture garden was another highlight, as the blend of art and nature created a serene yet stimulating environment. Afterward, I treated myself to delicious ice cream and hot coffee from the cozy first-floor cafe—just the perfect recharge. The gift shop also impressed me with its unique art-inspired items, and I couldn't resist picking up a few souvenirs. Friendly staff, inspiring exhibits, and a vibrant atmosphere make the Hirshhorn a must-visit for anyone in DC. Whether you're an art lover or just looking for an unforgettable cultural experience, this museum delivers on all fronts. I can't wait to return!
