The ramen was better than the sushi…. Ironic bc this has sushi in the name. The sushi was 4/10. it didn’t really have much flavor and although it was 3 different rolls it all tasted the same. The ramen was a 5/10. Had the soy sauce broth. The pork had a weird flavor to it. Felt little sick after eating this unfortunately :/

I really wanted to like this restaurant as sushi is one of my favorite foods, and I try to help local businesses. Unfortunately, this restaurant seems to have completely ignored the previous negative comments. I visited the restaurant for late lunch on a Saturday. I was the only person dining and saw five people working. The restaurant had an unpleasant smell and poor appearance. Despite being the only customer, I had to request a server twice. The second time, I had to physically search for the waitress, who was texting behind a table close to the bathroom. She never asked me if I wanted a drink, which I had to ask for when I ordered my food, nor refilled my glass. One of the rolls in my order was wrong, and the food did not taste fresh. While eating, another customer arrived, and I noticed he received the same level of service. Not surprisingly, we both had to ask for the check a couple of times. I will not be returning.

Food is alway good and staff is always nice. It has more of a laid back atmosphere compared to other sushi places in the area but the food is still amazing. Had a chance to speak to the manager the other day and he was really nice and accommodating for my friend with dietary restrictions. Definitely made me feel welcome and would recommend to anybody!

So, I’m a bit conflicted. Service was top notch and food was good, very satisfying. Two people shared edamame, shisito peppers, seared tuna salad, rainbow roll and Bethesda roll…. Very good very pleasant. Did not experience any of the negative service/food experiences of others. What I don’t get is why en route to the rest room, I see that the rest of the place looks like it’s seen better days and that the restrooms could be a bit less offensive to the senses. That seems an easy fix. Hope this helps!

I'm always on the lookout for good sushi. I just wish there were more places that served what's really fresh and filling in my opinion, so whenCompareably told me about this place a few weeks ago with amazing reviews from fellow Yelp users--including myself!--I decided to check them out! The interior is dark but cozy at once; very spacious too since they have an open kitchen where you can watch all ofthe action take place while waiting your turn (or getting ready to order). You'll love how customizable each roll feels because not only may flavors vary based upon preferences like avocado sauce vs spicy tuna Tar Barrel BBQ Sauce

The Miso Soup was delicious and had the right of everything. The soft shell crab tempura was light and very close to being sinful, and lastly, the Pork Katsu was the best I had in a long time. The prices are excellent for the area. I will have to add this place to my goto list.

First things first. Sushi is not that bad. Has potential. I recommend to order your meal as take out. Because..... staff is amazingly unprofessional. He atmosphere is horrible. Never been in a place that made me feel so uncomfortable. Is is a sports bar or a sushi restaurant? When you order from the menu, they serve the food whenever it's ready that means, you will get your starter after the entree or you will wait for your order whereas your table mate has already finished his/hers meal

I only order the sashimi set here, as am not a huge fan of mashed up western culture sushi flair~ I order a sushi deluxe x 2, a sakura flower roll (I think), and some extra pieces of tuna and salmon. The total cost was about $75. Overall, it was good, we expected some sushi and thats what we ordered. You can't mess up fish, its either fresh or old, so its the safe route than the cooked foods. A nice some to eat again, so simple cheers from me, very good!

Veggie Roman is yummy. Sushi is yummy. Shrimp shumai is yummy. Good drinks. Good service. Recommend visiting and dining in.

In the last two weeks, we ordered two meals from Hanaro/Kusshi. The first meal was amazing; however the second was very disappointing. We ordered the sashimi platter both times along with some rolls. The sashimi platter was amazing the first time, but bland and barely edible the second. Giving 2 stars only because the first meal was so amazing. Consistency is important. We won't be ordering from here again.

Slow service although it wasn't even busy. When we came, there was like 2 other people and they had 3 chicks and a dude working there (plus the chef). I would say we spent at least 20-25 minutes until somebody cared to ask what we want to order. The sushi itself was good, prices are slightly above average but it's Bethesda.

Hanaro Sushi is divine. The bar has nice happy hour drinks and a friendly staff. If you’re looking to switch it up ask for the Poké. You won’t be disappointed.

the nigiris of bull and salmon flamed, are of death! I do not remember that I ordered the noodles, but very good too and you can share it for two, it's quite big. and the salad that was prepared from tuna and mango rice, Guao. amazing. good service too. twice and I will return 🙏

Really enjoyed eating here, excellent ambience and friendly staff. Definitely try to catch the happy hour (until 7pm weekdays). Sushi was good but not great, but solid for the price. Calamari was great but only had a spicy sauce. Would definitely go again

O.k value. Tried some sushi and chicken teriyaki. chicken teriyaki came with plenty of chicken, few vegetables and the rice was ok. Rice consistency seemed al dente. Sushi was as ordered. Parking is hit or miss on the street. There are public lots nearby.

Visited my friends in Bethesda and they suggested us to come get lunch here. Wow! We got the nigiri and sashimi samplers, the firecracker roll, some seared fatty salmon and everything was fresh. Great ambience and the staff were all super sweet. Will definitely come back when I’m in town again.

I love their oden soup! Just the right portion with reasonable price, not many Japanese restaurant offers oden soup (and not charges you $25 if they do) so I'm glad I found this restaurant! Server was friendly, we were able to customize the dish to accommodate my diet.

By far my favorite sushi place in the area--largely b/c I'm super picky and they allow you to customize rolls through UberEats so I can add what I actually like. I typically do delivery through UberEats and am more impressed every time I have it. Delivery has always been really quick. I've eaten in the restaurant once and was impressed with their beer selection and service--though absolutely can tell it's also a night club--so not the typical sushi restaurant "vibe" if that's important to you!

I’m pretty sure that they recognize my name because I order from here all the time. They’re consistently great, the sushi is fairly priced, and I’ve never had an issue with them. I have been ordering sushi from them since December 2021 and I do not plan on changing that anytime soon

Showed up for a slightly late dinner and had an excellent meal, with 2 sets of rolls and a drink for a very fair price. Excellent sushi, we really enjoyed both rolls we picked especially the spicy mango. Quick service for sure and a nice atmosphere. Will definitely hit this up for future sushi needs.
