Unwined in Waterloo

Bar Wine bar

👍👍 My new favourite wine spot in London. We arrived at 6:30pm without a reservation and were lucky to get a table in the covered outdoors - it was packed by 7pm. With heaters and in January, we were totally warm. The wine selection is one of the best - I've been scarred too many times from the New Win... People often mention wine, staff, friendly, wines, great, good, selection, lovely, delicious, Great,

My new favourite wine spot in London. We arrived at 6:30pm without a reservation and were lucky to get a table in the covered outdoors - it was packed by 7pm. With heaters and in January, we were totally warm. The wine selection is one of the best - I've been scarred too many times from the New Wine wave in East London right now. Fairly reasonably priced, our server had excellent knowledge and recommendations and there wasn't a bad wine in the three that we each sampled. I strongly recommend trying the mystery wine for a bit of fun - ours was delicious - and to go for the recommendations. Food-wise, we had the foccacia and cauliflower croquettes, which were delicious. Two wines each, a carafe, and sharing plates was around £60 total (incl. service charge). Definitely will go again and thoroughly recommend if in the area (bonus tip: access via Leake Street to go through the graffiti tunnel walk).

I hosted a private birthday party here a few weeks ago and it was just brilliant - great food, great wine, lovely decor and everyone just had such a good time. I had about 40+ guests. The staff went beyond the call of duty. I’ve also had dinner there and the food was fantastic. Couldn’t be happier!

I followed this place on Instagram as it was recommended to me by someone so I thought I would check it out. Went in and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Asked for recommendations on wine and the staff were knowledgeable and talked me through the whole BTG list and I found the whole experience really warm and lovely. Also the Instagram wine videos are great (check out the Vedelho bubbles! I had to buy a bottle to take home it was great!). If you want a friendly wine spot with good food this is the one!

Good wine, nice atmosphere and all sides were well prepared. The wine selection is quite diverse and I highly recommend this place for wine lovers seeking to diverge from the beaten path in terms of their wine selections.

Really lovely wine bar. I had been to the one in Tooting several times, so was excited to see a branch had also opened up in Waterloo. Really liked the International Women's Day themed wines on offer, and it always makes it feel like more of an experience when the staff tell you the stories behind the wines. The only little thing was... My friend and I had decided to go for dinner and then drinks. We went to Pizza Pilgrims only a few doors down from Unwined in the same road, and my friend only ate half of her pizza so asked to take the other half home. We then wanted to go for a couple of wines but when we walked into Unwined all the staff were looking at us funny. We were sat at a table, and then a minute or so later our waitress scurried back and said we weren't allowed to eat food from outside in here. Of course, we weren't eating anything - she was taking it home. Our waitress was lovely - it was clear that she had been told to say something by other staff. It made us feel a bit small and there was just no need to make your customers feel like that. Going for dinner and then drinks is hardly unheard of.

Nice large place, with seating inside and a heated outside area. Wine selection is good, a nice selection grouped by flavour/body. Table service and staff are friendly.

Great watering hole very close to Waterloo. It's roots are in a pop up venture in Tooting (now permanent), founded by two inspirational women. Kiki (one of the founders) was a charming Front of House tonight, answering our questions with aplomb. Both she and her co-founder have WSET qualifications and know their way around the complexities of grape varieties and terroir. The wine list could appear daunting (it certainly helps if you know your grapes), but it is split into themes. Food is freshly prepared, with guest chefs rotated on a regular basis. We enjoyed a stunning sharing board of British charcuterie and cheese. We will be back... (but not said in an "Arnie" tone)

Popped in for a quick drink. Happen to stumble on happy hour. Great wine choices and great atmosphere. Would happily come back to try more of the wine on offer!

Great selection of wines with knowledgeable staff. Menu that is varied and tapas style everything was tasty and well presented with wine suggestions for each course. They do wine tastings and other events so will definitely be going back.

Situated in Lower Marsh behind Waterloo Station - a street that’s come on leaps and bounds over the past 5 years or so. Unwined is the ground floor of the ‘containers hotel’. Nice space - funky vibe / not too serious - although we sat outside in the street. Service was friendly and informative - with a good wine list. We ordered two bottles of Rag & Bone Riesling. Nice.

A perfect location for a catch up or a date. Relaxed and cosy atmosphere. The friendly team give great recommendations and a good complimenting food menu to match the wine you choose

Lovely lovely wines; food was tasty but small portions i.e. clams (which were delicious) served with x2 small toasted pieces of bread. Lots of broth left which required soakage... we were told cldnt have additional bread but could order the rosemary focacia at £5 ..the recession is biting here! There are too many other places to drink / eat which appreciate and look after customers.

Sister bar to Unwined in Tooting with a great rotating selection of wines by the glass. There is also a menu of snacks and small plates from resident chefs, all of which pair with the wine menu. Great value, nice decor and lovely staff. Watch out for their lunch specials and happy hour deals.

Delightful after-work drinks with a friend. The staff were accommodating, friendly and readily available to answer queries. The wine was a shining star. The food was a well-matched accompaniment. I enjoyed that you can also buy bottles to take home. I hope that they have managed to fix their card machines. I felt sorry for the staff only having one card machine for venue!

A little cozy gem in the busy city ! I was recommended to visit this location buy Lea from Tooting as a regular customer that always looks after me so well ! I wasn’t disappointed ! Hugo was our server for the night, knowledgable super professional with a sense of humour he made our night and we learned so much about wine too !

Very friendly, cosy little wine bar. Enjoyed happy hour carafes and was well attended throughout. Can't comment on food other than salted almonds which were good.

I’ve been three times and quite frankly this time was the last. Very sick of poor service from the senior waiter - he’s very lucky to have some excellent junior colleagues who had he not been there would have received a higher score. Products ie food and wine are high quality but service is among the worst I’ve received in London. 👎

Absolutely loved having my 30th birthday party at Unwined. The room looked beautiful with the fairy lights and dried flowers, and the staff were so attentive. The cheeseboards were a huge hit and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a venue x

Excellent experience in tasting different type of wines. Good advices from waiter (Hugo) on the wine and recommendation for food. The team is welcoming, knowledgeable and ambiance is relaxed… spent a really good time with friends !

Don’t get me wrong wine selection is very good and staff is really friendly and knowledgeable but very PRICEY ! Come on £8 for a glass of wine! Me and my hubby spent almost £40 on 2 small glasses and a nibble ! Please consider the cost of living crisis affecting everyone and consider lowering the prices. People still would love to go out and enjoy some good wine but not at extortionate prices!

This place perfectly hits the exact right balance between classy and hipster. Unpretentious, but clean and beautifully presented, in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly well-informed staff. The wines are extremely good value, you could easily part twice this in London. The snack selection seems great - loved the look of the menu, and would have had more if we weren't just about to go out for dinner. The mixed sharing platter was certainly delicious, and featured two lovely cheeses, a bresaola and an extraordinary lamb-based salami. Very definitely going to come back here, it's undoubtedly the brightest gem of Lower Marsh.

Everything was exquisite! I went there last Friday and had a great time eating home cooked food and drinking great wines. The team is super friendly and detailed-oriented: they took the time to explain us how to select the wines based on what we like. I will definitely return.

Our second visit and just as good as the first. Loved trying wines unfamiliar to us; friendly and knowledgeable service, delicious food, warm atmosphere and great music. What’s not to love? Try it out.
