Stayed 12&13th May 2023. Garden room & left to my own devices to find it, these building are not referred to as garden room on the plaques outside so that's quite confusing. The second door on entering was consistently unlocked meaning anyone could enter the building. Disabled spaces are closet to disabled rooms, I'm disabled, but I don't need a disabled room. The room itself was clean, mattress was very uncomfortable, TV had freeview with about 8 channels available. Lots of noise, banging doors through the night. Cars with engines running in the car park. Sunday at 4am was woke by screaming, laughing and banging, this only stopped when I shouted. So unfortunately what should have been a relaxing weekend I got 8hrs sleep in 48hrs and a 3hr drive home.

This was an absolute surprise and gem to find in North West London. As lifelong locals, we didn’t know this historic hotel with its beautiful grounds existed. From the moment we saw the Rose Garden though, we had no doubts that this was where we wanted to get married here. Our greatest compliments and thanks have to go to the entire team at Grim’s Dyke, especially Caroline, Richard and Chef Darren for making our wedding so special. They were so fantastic and ensured everything went just how we wanted. Us and all of our guests had a fantastic day, and everyone left in awe of the stunning grounds. The only negative of our stay was the terrible shower in the Sullivan suite. There was absolutely no water pressure which was very frustrating when you have a bridal party trying to get ready in the morning. Apart from that, an exquisite venue and stay! The afternoon tea is highly recommended!

Grim's Dyke is situated in a relatively difficult to get to location near Bushey, but it's well worth the journey. The surrounding woods are an incredible getaway from the noise of London; I have been visiting the woods for 25 years and I still love walking through the nature. The Hotel has a facade of being all posh and fancy, but working class folks like I are welcomed and treated the same as anyone else. The staff are very polite and knowledgeable, with the reception and restaurant folks being a highlight of the place. The stunning grounds speak for themselves, and I cannot recommend going for a long walk in the woods enough. The rooms in the main house aren't my thing, though if you're a fan of history and period surroundings, as many are, you'll love the rooms. My suggestion is to stay in the Garden Lodge. There is a beautiful garden which you can open patio doors onto, provided you choose a garden view room. Whilst I was disappointed to have found on my last trip that not all the rooms are alike, with some having been revamped sooner than others, I will still be visiting every couple of months to get away from hectic London.

Our family and friends had a most wonderful day at this grand 19th Century Country House. We chose the Music Room, with its feature fireplace and beautiful high ceiling, to celebrate my granddaughter’s birthday. The manager Caroline graciously allowed us to come in the morning to prepare and decorate, and checked on our needs during that time, she was most kind. The afternoon staff did a great job in serving our small guests and adult friends alike, they were very professional and courteous. Special mention goes to Chloe for all her wonderful help and thoughtfulness . We chose one formal long table with Alice in Wonderland theme decor, seating 23 children. Parents sat at another table where tea and light snacks were available. The party was an absolute success, when the guests walked into the Music Room, their jaws dropped in admiration of the magical grandeur. The refreshments and finger foods were supplied by the hotel’s restaurant, the sandwiches and sweets were very fresh and delicious, stylishly arranged on 3 tier silver stands, vegetables and dips on cute little trays and hot chocolate in small delightful ceramic pots. There was plenty of room for our entertainer to keep all kids active and dancing. Restrooms are on the same level as the Music Room, the first floor, accessible by a staircase only, no lift. The hotel is a Grade II listed impressive building and it has quite an interesting history. As this was a cold day in March, we did not use the carefully tended gardens, but we did briefly see a deer.

Very comfortable stay with modern decor in old character hotel and surrounding building. Unfortunately I missed breakfast but staff were very accommodating and salvaged some bits from the kitchen for me. Upgraded to a suite as wanted the jacuzzi bath and although a bit pricey was a nice treat. Plenty of tea and coffee choices in room and all mod cons. Spacious and good access to patio in calming nature gardens and grounds for the ultimate relaxation.

We have had the most incredible time staying here as from the moment we stepped into reception we were treated with kindness and great service by junior who upgraded us following us getting engaged earlier that day. We next stepped into the bar, an open room with a lovely barman that couldn't do enough to help me choose a wine I would like, going above and beyond letting me try them. Our room was beautiful looking out on the gardens and there was even a table and chairs to sit outside but it was a bit cold. My fiance and I had a bath in the evening and there were jets in the bath that made the experience that much more relaxing and special. The next day when we went for breakfast we were greeted by Debbie who, again, couldn't do enough for us to make our experience of breakfast comfortable and easy. The food selection was great and the cooked breakfast by chef William was delicious- hot and well seasoned. Overall the hotel is clean and spacious with great grounds- maybe we will be back for our wedding :)

This an entrancing, deeply atmospheric, mysterious, charming and entrancing place. It's absolutely fascinating inside and it's so enjoyable to relax in the bar or have a look around. The gardens are absolutely beautiful, really peaceful and almost ethereal. I've not yet discovered all the wooded areas, there is a lot to explore, including a pond with a historical event, in fact the whole history of the building is very interesting. Added to this is the fact that the staff are excellent; efficient, polite and friendly. And the food is very good indeed, I had fish and chips on my most recent visit which was absolutely superb quality. A fantastic place.

Checking is was pleasant and the staff were incredibly friendly. It was my partners birthday and asked for a small addition to dinner which was happily accepted. Once getting to our room there was a small but not insignificant issue. I spoke with the duty manager Ann-Marie, she was kind, understanding and incredibly helpful. She went above and beyond to rectify this issue and cannot thank her enough for her help. Dinner was fantastic the steak especially was lovely. The rooms have AC (thankfully being 30 give or take outside) tea and coffee and all the amenities you would expect. Over all a very pleasant stay and would happily come again.

The room was a great size and bed very comfortable. Unfortunately seems very understaffed and needing some TLC. Found a huge hairball in the bathtub… Generally seems a little run down (stains on chairs etc). Breakfast was very variable as there was a different chef everyday. Some mornings it was nice and some very much not. The lady who served breakfast was very friendly but seemed a bit overwhelmed as there was only her each morning dealing with breakfast. The grounds were beautiful and well kept and the location was nice. Very expensive for the experience we had

I felt conned by its 4 star rating! Beware of the misleading website photos when booking Grims Dyke Hotel. Upon arrival the house is beautiful, but we were quickly ushered out of the building and sent around the corner to the Garden Lodge. The Garden Lodge has all the charm and character of a mid 90's high density housing estate. I think it was last refurbished around that time too. The patched up decor and musty smelling room disappointed. With my daughter staying with me I was concerned the access to the Garden Lodge was always open, with the keycard entry door left on the latch, open, which was a concerning security issue. We had dinner reservations for our entire stay but after the first night they were swiftly cancelled. After finally tracking down a member of staff to be served, we were handed a menu by a bar staff member and told to sit next door, after they argued with each other about who should serve us. Finally a waitress appeared and started to take our order until the phone rang next door, where she took off again. The food was meh, I had a chicken curry with flabby skin still attached. The burger had a thumbs up from my daughter. Overall the food was overpriced and under delivered. I had booked a stay for myself and daughter as a treat whilst she is receiving treatment at the RNOH Stanmore and sad to say we were very disappointed.

In love with the vibe at the Grim’s . The outdoor space is beautiful. We have been coming here for the last 10 years. They had an event today but that did not disturb the ambience at our table. Perfect for a day out. The forest that surrounds the restaurant is beyond amazing. Yes, the hotel is in the middle of the forest . Very friendly service.

Staff friendly and helpful. Good reception staff. Lots of parking in various spots. Main house which is amazing and historical. Lots of interesting history. We had booked a lodge room away from the main house which had it's own parking spaces. There is no lift to the second floor however they did offer to help to bring our suitcase up to the room. The room was clean and comfortable. Quite spacious. We had lovely balcony with orchard view. Very tranquil. Breakfast was in the restaurant area and was excellent. Staff were friendly and professional in the restaurant at breakfast. Lovely trails for walking around the woods and lakes. Ask for a map at reception for the walks as not that well sign posted unfortunately. Trails for walking are very natural and sometimes difficult to navigate if not very able. Although the manicured areas are beautiful and restful.

What an absolutely delightful stay at this wonderful old house. The last time I stayed was over 17 years ago, this was under previous management, however in relation to how it was then to how it is now was only a matter of a few layout changes, everything else remained the same. We ate at the hotel, our evening meal was sublime and one of the best we have had in a while. We also had breakfast and that too was excellent, highly recommended. The staff were all attentive and could not do enough! Should you want a peaceful stay in an amazing location with grounds to walk around I can highly recommend staying (Just in the weekend we don't book in the future of course 🙂). Thank you.

Can't beat this place for a special occasion. We were married here 25 years ago and returned for our silver anniversary. The building and grounds are fantastic being historic, interesting and well maintained. The staff are attentive, friendly, professional and not constantly pushing for sales of extra drinks or side dishes. The food is first class and generously proportioned. For our occasion we hired the drawing room for 21 guests and everyone present had a great time. Our host, Richard, was very helpful and gave us welcome suggestions about how to proceed with the occasion. We hope to return for future celebrations.

Having yet another wonderful stay with my Husband at the beautiful Grimsdyke hotel this weekend. My room is spotless with a gorgeous garden view, dinner was beautiful- the burgers here really are delicious! And as always faultless treatment from staff including the lovely Chloe in the restaurant & the other young lady working in there this evening. Always lovely to be welcomed by such friendly faces who remember us on every visit. Can’t wait to come back at the end of the month for one of our haunted evenings xxxxx

Grand building, ideal setting for a wedding. This historic place also has lovely gardens and woodland for a nice peaceful walk. The manageress is a lovely person and willing to help. However if your staying the rooms are in need of a good clean, beds are comfortable and the meals are nice. The bar is often left unattended and you have to find a member of staff. Finally I must get used to asking for internet password as it's the only way .

Just recently had a romantic night away with my partner. We chose Grims Dyke as is not to far to travel. This was by far, a worth while choice. We were made to feel welcome by all the staff. Who were very accommodating to our dietary needs. The surrounds are stunning, and rooms very comfortable. You would easily believe you were is the countryside miles away form anywhere. This is definitely a little gem, that’s is worth a visit. Look forward to our next night away. . 🥰

We booked the Grimsdyke Hotel for our wedding on the 21st May 2023 and Words cannot express how magical our wedding was. From the stunning grounds to the beautiful rooms, it really is an incredible venue. Caroline was our planner, not only was she friendly and approachable, the whole planning and arranging process was made very easy and stress free by her, she was always available to answer questions and each time put our minds at ease. On the day the duty manager Chan looked after us, we nick named him Mr Yes because the word no doesn't exisit in his vocabulary. Everything we asked for or wanted his reply was always Yes. He was very attentive, made sure the day ran smoothly and looked after all our guests. All in all the day exceeded our expectations and was perfect in every way.

We hosted my Dad's 80th birthday party at the Grim's Dyke Hotel on Saturday night for 40 people. It was a fantastic experience. The staff were very helpful, the sit down dinner was delicious and the room and hotel grounds in particular are very grand and impressive. An excellent venue if you want to celebrate a special occasion.

We had exclusive use of this hotel for our wedding and it was the best choice. The planning for the wedding was incredible and no question was too much. The staff were amazing and so attentive. All of the rooms were great and each of our 80 odd guests said they had the best nights sleep, as the beds were very comfortable. The room set up for the wedding was beautiful and the turn around for the evening was swift and very none intrusive to the other celebrations, ie photos etc. The front of house guys were amazing, attentive but unobtrusive. Most reviews don't talk about the kitchen staff, so let me buck that trend. We sat with the Head Chef to plan a menu, and it was awesome. The chef and all his kitchen guys excelled and the food was amazing. We had sharing boards. One meat, one fish, one cheese and on veg. There was salads, fresh breads with dips and sauces. Then later in the evening a hog roast. It was beautiful. The breakfast the next morning was also superbly done and the staff on duty amazing. If you are looking for the perfect wedding venue, or just a night away, you cannot go wrong with Grim's Dyke, Harrow Weald. Thank you to everyone that made my perfect day perfect 🥰

Really enjoyed our few days stay here. Staff were friendly and helpful & the standard rooms were functional and comfortable. Could have benefited from having a mini fridge & subtitles on the TV would have been useful. Hope to explore more of the extensive grounds next time we stay!

We had a private dinner, and all the guests had a good time. Many thanks to Anne Marie and her team. I highly recommend this place - great service, food and a relaxing atmosphere.

Came into the restaurant with my mother and sister. Terrible service. We wernt greeted. Not given any menus until we asked. We then had to carry 2 extra heavy metal chairs to our table because there were not enough at our table. When we were given the menu… it was only starters and drinks menu. Not the actual menu. First time going never coming back. Brilliant location… what a shame.

We had a lovely afternoon with family, 10 people in total. The staff were excellent, very polite and friendly, and accommodating! I found the sandwich menu a bit to fussy, traditional sandwiches with afternoon tea is always preferred but perhaps just our preference.

We can really fault nothing except to say the rooms are a bit tired. Very comfortable and well equipped though so definitely can't mark it down too much! Breakfast was plentiful with an excellent array of choices and the staff were exemplary. Would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed a full cream tea today, tea, sandwiches, scones and fancies, we had the sandwiches replenished. We sat undercover outside and enjoyed the garden view. We were served by a lovely young lady, Ashley, which made it even nicer as she was the perfect waitress, nothing was too much trouble. I mention this as I visited a couple of months back and received terrible service, so I was glad we came back, so Thankyou 👍😀

A delightful old building set in 40 acres of grounds. Peaceful with extremely friendly and helpful staff at all levels. I have a movement impairment and so have difficulty with stairs, but I was given ha ground floor room and help with my bag on arrival and departure. Meals well-prepared and portioned, and of generally good quality

Took out of town friends for a drink at Grim’s bar. The ambiance of the hotel grounds were pleasant with plenty of secluded seating. The bar offered limited selection of beers and cocktails ( hence only 4*). The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Wish the selection of drinks can be improved, however I would still entertain friends there again.

I spend two wonderful night's there! My husband booked it for getaway from the city center, it was pretty nice. The staff were super friendly & helpful. And, the room was clean & bed was comfortable. I loved the coffee & tea corner in the room😍

Attended a friend's wedding so stayed for the weekend. Great setting and gave the feel that we were the only ones at staying at the hotel. We stayed in the Garden Lodge the first night. Although comfortable the room/bathroom is starting to look a little tired. The second night we stayed in the main hotel which was fine. We apologise for nearly al the guests descending upon them on the Sunday for breakfast, but bless them they coped very well. At least they had ran early finish to the breakfast serving that day!!😅

Was looking forward to our stay until we arrived and found that we were not staying in the actual hotel but a little block of rooms that are very dated and tired, it was quite a let down. If I had known I would definitely have booked a Premier Inn as they are a lot more inviting, fresh & clean. The walls must be thin as we heard noises from two doors down. Quite a lot of late night/early morning 3am-5am deliveries and activity outside which was also quite disturbing. We left feeling really tired & reduced our stay. The breakfast was served in the restaurant in a buffet style & the options were OK but the head of service was a little demeaning to the younger staff that seemed very polite and efficient, although she was very pleasant to us it gave a bad vibe overall. We were really looking forward to our stay but left feeling rather disappointed which is a shame. Maybe check with reception when you book if you're in the main hotel or the separate block as I feel our experience would have been a lot different.

To be clear this review is for the afternoon tea. We did not stay here. We booked afternoon tea few weeks prior and placed a deposit. However by the actual day the prices had gone up by 6£ per person (just because it was mothers day weekend) They did not mention this to us on the day. I find this very unprofessional, after i brought this to their attention, they mentioned the price changed a few days prior and it was on the website, but who would keep checking the prices after booking? The actual afternoon tea was very average and the high chai was below average. I guess you were just paying for the venue. We had to take our left overs in a brown paper bag so by the time we got home they had all squished together. Staff serving were very polite and professional. Wouldn't come back for afternoon tea.

Went for a Christmas day meal which was superb. The dining room had been appropriately decorated and the staff were both attentive and efficient. The wine selection was good and other drinks to were available. The gents however though clean was perhaps in need of a revamp as it was somewhat dated There was level access for those less mobile and a car park with plenty of space between bays

Went here for a walk near the hotel grounds with our dog. Woodlands are stunning. Came back to the hotel to sit outside for an afternoon coffee. Service was good asked for the menu to be told they weren't doing food. So we ordered drinks. Later to reslise they had scones etc. Would definitely recommend to go there on a sunny day lovely to sit outside dogs allowed outside. Lots of tables choices. Service could slightly improve but wouldn't put me off. Latta coffees where very week had to ask for extra shot. Coffee could be improved to note.

I went here for cream tea. The hotel and grounds are so beautiful. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help. The cream tea itself was outstanding. The scones were huge and had just been cooked and were totally delicious. I'd definitely recommend this place... 100%!
