It's a great place to come to with your family lots of different activities to do for the children! Playground, sand, fountains (didn't manage to get a photo of this) and the train ! When I got here there were no lifeguards so we weren't allowed to go in the water but I hear during the summer people get in the water. There is a kiosk as you enter from the car park area after passing the restaurant and then Futher down is the lido beach 🏖️ which is just lots of fun. It says not to enter the water due to parasites and allergies etc etc wildlife you can see clearly when you enter the area different types of birds and ducks. The cafe is an added bonus too which is right where the beach front is, food is decently priced there are lots of options to choose from too many to list here...but they do ice-cream for doggies which i found really cute. There is a restaurant as you enter the area however I didn't go there. It's just a great little getaway. Parking is great £5 for like the whole day but a lovely gentlemen before leaving had handed me his parking ticket which meant I didn't need to pay and got 4 hours free! Parking is attended by wonderful staff who guide you to the right place to park in. All in all I would recommend this place

I had an extremely pleasant day at Ruislip Lido Beach. I reached after about half an hour walk through a forest. The lido beach is near white sand, the atmosphere really relaxing. There is also a mini train (which I took) doing a lovely journey around the lake through the forest around. Fantastic experience.

What a wonderful day out it was. Came here when I was kid and was so nice to go back! Beach was clean and everything had been well maintained If you have small children and planning to go to the sea side then I would suggest come here instead and save yourself hours of driving! They have an amazing splash park adjacent to the beach which is fantastic. There’s a cafe which serves scrumptious food set along side the woodland too! Parking there was plenty of space and £5 for half day in summer time and full day in winter. Directly from the car park I would suggest taking the train's return ticket to sandy beach, a lovely scenic route! (However you can also go by walking as it is 10 min walk to beach). Have fun! :)

Amazing Lots of stuff to keep the kids busy apart from the beech. The woods is a great place to explore but the grounds were difficult to navigate with a push chair Was busy as it was bank holiday weekend but i can see why It’s great to see gems like this in build up areas Great work

small beach, family friendly, a playground designated exclusively for toddlers, and a shop where you can get something cold to drink if you want to have a great time getting some vitamin D or you can walk around the lake and enjoy the green nature

I have such a feeling of peace when I arrive at the lido and look out across the water at the view, there really is something special about it, even on a grey cloudy day. We love it here and travel some time and distance by tube and bus to make the trip. Ruislip lido is one of the best places I know for a good day out, it's best in warm weather where you can enjoy being outside. On a hot, sunny day it does get incredibly packed. It's a great place to take kids, family, friends, dogs etc. The balance between pub and restaurant on one side of the lake with a cafe on the other really makes everything easy. From Ruislip station take bus H13 towards Ruislip Lido, it's the last stop next to the Waters Edge Pub and Restaurant which do good value (although somewhat hit and miss food with hit and miss service). You can start or end your day here, good for a filling lunch or an end of the day supper. There is also a carpark (free for three hours if visiting the Water's Edge and £5 for 5 hours if not - make sure you park on the right side!) To the left you will find Willow Lawn station for the Ruislip (narrow gauge) railway. The ticket office can sell you a single or return trip to the other side of the lido where the yellow beach shimmers at you from across the water. The little railway runs through nice woodland and grassland around the lake to Woody Bay station (about a 10 minute ride). You can also opt to walk round instead and the path is quite clear and well trodden. It's a lovely walk manageable for young children (about 20/25 minutes) through the woodland. For the quicker walking route but not as pretty head to the right hand side instead (about 10 mins). On the other side you will find the beach, children's playground and water play area as well as a cafe. There are no lifeguards and you are not supposed to swim but lots of people do go for a paddle in the water. It's a nice place to sit and chill out, have a picnic, cup of tea or coffee or indulge in an ice-cream. There are tables and benches dotted around (or bring a mat and sit on the sand). Kids are happy playing and time goes by too quickly.

Excellent place for kids and family to enjoy. Nice small sandy beach and steam train ride. You can take kids beach toys such as spade and bucket. Young kids can also enjoy cycle ride. They also have kids playing area and nice eatery. Grown ups can walk/run around the park. Parking is restricted to 3 hours max per day.

Perfect place to go with kids! Super accessible with a bus stop right at the entrance, accessible for wheelchair users and strollers, areas with playgrounds and picnic tables. There's also an affordable restaurant, free restrooms, and a dog-friendly beach. There is also a small train that runs through the entire area of the park, which is also possible on foot along a paved road. Unfortunately it is not recommended to go into the lake water the flag is always red (although many people ignore this) but there is a small park with water toys for children and adults to have fun, I will definitely be back.

It was more like a lake than a beach to be honest. And I'm not sure if the water is clean to swim into. However, it is still a good place for sunbathing, walking, or if you want to be alone. It's really peaceful and quiet

Its a great small local picnic spot for kids especially. There is a water park for kids. Small artificial beach. Kids will enjoy building sand castles(take the kit). A small train which is the ultimate thing to experience(Dont miss it). A small cafe for your appetite. Walking in the woods will be adventurous. It’s shocking many locals not aware this awesome spot.

Ruislip Lido left me with a mixed impression. The water's foul odour was disappointing, but beyond the sandy shores, the inviting forest area was perfect for leisurely walks. The lively presence of ducks and seagulls added a charming touch. Although I regret not experiencing the train ride.

Beautiful place.. Neat and clean.. Lots of swings for kids.. Cafe for adults reasonably priced.. Steam train and diesel train rides available, which are fun and take you through the trees. Beautiful. Trekking and walking path are also there. Toilets were clean, but muddy. Dont forget to take extra pair of clothes for kiddos and beach toys.. They will have splendid time..

Plenty of parking, pub restaurant by the entrance of the Lido, and the Lido Beach itself is surrounded by vast greenery. It was 30 degrees when we went and wasn't overcrowded, sandy, and full of families enjoying themselves. The signs say not to go into the water but plenty of people were within the first 10meters. Water quality is okay, standard lake water you'd expect from a city.

Was quite busy and lots of people wanting to inflict their music on others. Aside from that, very pretty woodland and lake area, if you avoid the beach which is busier. Lots of people swimming despite signs advising against it!

Nice place to visit at summer. Parking is difficult and you park at nearby Breakspear Crematorium who charges £8 upto 3 hours, and £15 for more than 3 hours [Added photos and videos of how to find them]. At summer, people were getting into water and playing in sand. There is icecreams van and shop at the entrance and inside. Good place for picnic and family time.

Good and fresh beach. But we are disappointed due to water is so dirty and even we couldn’t touch it. Because it is so risky and causing illness. Sandpit is so nice my children play with sand a long time

Beautiful cove type beach Very picturesque Wind can come in heavy due to funnelled structure of the beach Play area for bigger kids - water blasting and showers available. Parking is quite difficult and there are always wardens walking about trying to profit on the innocent and working class families like vultures. Also probably to protect residential areas. "Just doing my job" 😄🙊🙉🙈 Regardless, there is quite a bit of a walk so bring a trolley or something on wheels to carry your stuff. Needed some deepheat as soon as I got back home due to the farmer walks I was doing! Lovely place and definitely reccomend!

It's seems good that it's look like a nearest beach but very smelly water area Water is also not clean for jumping in with kids. It was my first experience but extremely bad because of smell every where. Only train journey is good in fresh tree side area. Parking is not bad £5 for 5 hours but again if they do something with smell or clean the beach area it might help for people to stay happily. Not recommended as a beach. It's better to go to the real beach to spend one more hour.

Great place for family day out, lovely walks in forest or ride on little train around the lake. There is a sandy beach ideal for sunbathing unfortunately swimming isn't allowed. Take your dog as almost all places are dog friendly.

It’s really not a beach, it’s a lake. Not allowed to swim either. However kids will really enjoy playing with the sand, looking at ducks, playing on the swings and slides. Has a nice view. Parking is £5 per day which is decent!

It's a nice walk. Free parking for hillingdon resident card holders. It's not a beach it's a lake with a bit of sand so you obviously can't swim and there are no tides. But there is a nice mini/toytrain. Definitely worth a visit

The beach often gets overcrowded, and the lake has strong bad smell. Red flags are consistently raised, warning that the water is unsafe, yet some people still take their children in to swim, which is concerning. Not an Ideal place to waste your valuable time, look for alternatives.

Pretty crowded on the rare occasion we have good weather - get there before 12 or no chance of a parking space. The mini trains are amazing.

This place is beautiful. Very small lake in the middle around end by forest where people usually go for a walk with their pets. There’s a playing area for kids and they have one train which will give a round of the lake. That’s really good for kids. There couple of restaurants which offers good food.

Lovely picnic place for kids and family. Mini railway - A must ride uphill. Small beach at the lakeside, cafe for snacking & dining. Birds chirping, beautiful natural views, kids activity area. A walk path arround the lake. Superb place to visit.

Spent the whole day here. Its a pity you cant go in the water because everything else that’s here is great for a family day out or relaxing day to unwind. The train that takes you through the woods is great and is only £3.50 pp. If you want to go for a trek you can go through the trail path and get lost in nature. Plenty of swings, water play and roundabouts for kids as well as the big pirate ship in the sand. Toilets, ice cream truck and cafe is on site and if you’ve forgotten your towel, theres also a shop for beach attire. Would recommend visiting here if you want a beach experience without having to venture out to the coast. The Iido is only about a 8/10min bus from Ruislip station and theres a car park there for the drivers. By the way, the other reviews are right. You will see many people head into the water. I wouldnt risk it. Get your toes wet and leave it there, the beach is not fit for swimming at all.

  • 5/5 Parthasarathi T. 11 months ago on Google
It is very good place to spend time with family or/ and friends. Children enjoy with playing on the beach sand. Pirate ship was more attractive. Water is not clean and could see green algae so better not enter into it. Beach area was nice and crowded. Cute train journey was a highlight and enjoyable with kids. Garden was very clean and very nice for family picnic. Icecream was yammy there.. Souvenir shop at the end of train journey was nice.

Great place to enjoy summer with kids. The water isnt the cleanest. Parking space is limited so if you planning to visit on a weekend, try to come earlier (around 12). If you visiting with kids, I would recommend train ride.

The beach / Christmas section is amazing specially for the younger kids, staff friendly and well organised Be aware If you use car park though, Locked our car and several others in even though the Christmas event was going on should really keep it open later, Luckily we got out but stupid had to call someone back. Hillingdon council in charge of this think they need to communicate with Lido staff over Xmas period.

  • 5/5 Madiha A. 1 year ago on Google
Very enjoyable day out with kids. Its clean, well maintained, the people visiting were not obnoxious and it was doable with little children. The only thing i can imagine is the sandy beach area is so small on hot days it'll definitely be too crowded although theres a decent trail and train attraction as well so the kids wont be bored.
