The estate was beautiful and receptionists were very helpful when checking in/out. The leisure centre was a great bonus included within the price. The dinner was lovely and prepared very quickly. My partner booked through secret escapes so we got a better deal than paying full price. Despite all of this there was unfortunately a lot that let it down. There was a gigantic blood stain on a towel which my partner noticed when drying off which makes me question the cleanliness of the place….the room was a lot smaller than it looks on pictures too which was unfortunate. I think the pool is public but was grimy and looked very run down. Also noticed a lot of springs on the bed were broken so it wasn’t the comfiest. There was also a lot of dirt and grime in the SHOWER?? I’ve stayed in nicer premier inns for a FRACTION of the price. They took a £50 holding fee which was not stated ANYWHERE online so it was a bit of a shock when we turned up. Overall it was nice but not really even worth the £280 which we got on sale.

Nice hotel in a scenic location. Lovely old building with big rooms. Good service in the bar and the food was tasty. The pool and sauna were good but the steam room wasn't working. The water in the bath/shower could have been hotter. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend.

We’ve stayed at the hotel a couple of times and both times have been fantastic. The hotel and the grounds are beautiful, the staff are friendly and professional and the food and service are excellent. We’re looking forward to coming back again some time and would highly recommend it.

Had a great time at the hotel. Was missing shower gel in the room, and would have liked to have bath robes (not even upon request). Dinner at 1838 was decent but a bit overpriced. Breakfast was great.

I’ve stayed here twice, first time round we had a fabulous evening. Dinner, exploring the grounds and surrounding area and then a good few hours at the bar enjoying the live music from the wedding. Then getting back to a comfy room was perfect. There were a few issues which were in the evening/morning the whole north wing was without hot water. This was being reflected on peoples bills, but the receptionist wouldn’t give us discount like the other guests. I followed this up with an email, I had a great response from Jasmine and received a 50% discount on another stay. I took up the offer and treated my daughter for her birthday! She had a fabulous time and couldn’t fault the stay second time round! I would definitely come back for another stay.

The hotel itself was fine. Unfortunately, I had an unauthorized charge on my credit card from this hotel. I tried contacting the hotel via the contact page on the WEB site, but it did not work. I then contacted the accounts office at the hotel directly. I left my phone number and email address and was assured that I would be contacted. This was three weeks ago and as yet I have not heard back and the charge has not been credited to my card.

Great resort and location. Swimming pool, gym and sauna are a great addition to the hotel, a mix of old style and modern extension. The main building is well decorated and mixes the history of the estate with modern but well integrated decor. The rooms are on the small side (at least ours, but surely there are bigger ones) but cozy and cleaned, which makes it for a nice environment after a full day in a convention/meeting. Sadly, food was not up to the rest of the estate: it wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, just was expecting a little more, hence the four stars. Overall, was great staying there and wish had more time to check out the other facilities.

Service on the Saturday in the restaurant was slow once the big group came in to eat.I had to go up and ask a waiter for our bill after sitting there for 20 mins. The bedroom layout was strange. They should knock through the wall where the wardrobe is to make the bedroom bigger. To me it feels like a huge waste of room space. The shower plug was clogged up with hair and wouldn't drain properly. This should be checked every time the room is cleaned. We left it to show the cleaner and the second day it was then cleaned. Shame about the view from our room as we overlooked the air conditioning, specifically as I asked for a room overlooking the garden when I booked directly over the phone, and was assured all rooms have good views. Not ours I'm afraid. We were given a complimentary Sunday lunch to make up for this, which was lovely. In saying this all in all it didn't ruin our stay.

The only word that can explain our trip is complete chaos! The hotel itself is stunning, in beautiful grounds and we had a very nice room (we did get a suite.) But the whole process from start to finish was a shambles, firstly the swimming pool wasn’t in use, which was the whole reason we chose the hotel, as it was my mums birthday. They gave us 1 limited drink voucher for the inconvenience We then had a table booked for dinner at 7.30 and waited 45mins before we could order a drink, we had two kids with us and by this time it was way past their bedtimes. After ordering the drinks/food we received drinks 1hr later. At 8.40 still no food my kids were crying and asking for their bed, so my husband took the kids to bed. I asked if could cancel the kids food and order them some chips instead so it would be quicker, each time I tried to speak to the waitress, she walked off before I finished taking, and I had to call her back 3 times before she would listen. (She was extremely rude) Finally chips arrive at 9pm and then food shortly after. I asked for sauce for the kids and they managed to get it out onto the side and walk off and leave it there so I helped myself to it. I then had to take the food and drink up to the room for them, and then again for my husbands tea!! They did give us money off and some free pudding to apologise, but it ruined my mums birthday meal and she was absolutely gutted. That night I thought, at least I can get to bed and have a nice rest in the lovely large bed… but no.. of course not! They had a Christmas party and down under our window is what I can only presume was the smoking area. It was soooo loud, adults shouting laughing and swearing above mine and my kids windows. At 11.30 I called down to reception as I had enough. And they said they would investigate, nothing was done. I called at 12 no answer, at 12.30 no answer, so I had to get dressed and go downstairs and find a member of staff to help. By 1.15am a man who worked there closed the area off and I could finally sleep, until they managed to all get out there again at 2am!!! At 2.20 It sounded like they were told off and pulled back in. The noise continued inside with the drunk party stumbling past the doors till around 3.30. And I finally fell asleep at 4am. Breakfast was again a shambles, loads of staff doing nothing and others running around like they are on fire. 3 people it took to work out our room number and booking. Yet nobody cleaning the tables… Again on leaving, check in, overnight, and during the day, there was no receptionist, so we had to wait yet again. The whole stay was the worst night away I’ve ever had, and considering the beautiful location, it’s a real shame. Certainly won’t ever stay or recommend this hotel to anyone, keep clear!!

Beautiful settings and cosy room. I booked a superior room for me, my husband and baby. It was clean and tidy which was what we wanted. Tea, coffee and kettle. Thick fluffy towels and a couple of toiletries. I would say a couple of flannels wouldn’t go a miss but apart from that was a very pleasant stay. We had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast next morning can’t complain was all tasty! My only issue I could say was the coffee machine but awkward to use, not the best. Staff were all polite, even the younger ones. Very nice and good service overall. Loved the library, for drinks and food. I would visit again

We performed at De Vere Latimer Estate at a Corporate meeting as suppliers. We treated so well by the events team and all the F&B staff who helped us so much with our surprise. Massive shout out to Safe the Operations Manager and Alice who helped us co-ordinate our surprise and made it such an amazing event. We cannot wait to be back! Thank you so much for having us! I am gradually visiting the De Vere group of hotels and once again, they do not disappoint. The Latimer Estate has some history and is off the beaten track. There is a young team that look after the bar and restaurant and with a little more training and support will make this a great hotel. It is well worth a visit

It's a fab hotel, the rooms in the annex are smaller than most hotels but very nice. The bathrooms were very small. But it's a lovley hotel and the old building is beautiful. We paid for an upgraded executive room.with a view, but still found the design of the room to be smaller than other hotels, I would go as far as to say premier inn and travel lodge room are bigger which was a surprise

Had a great stay here for two nights with the sole purpose of going on big country walks with the dog during the days and chilling in the bar in the evenings and it was perfect. The Chiltern walks are unbelievably beautiful and coming back to such a quiet stately place with such great staff was such a relaxing break from the city. Considering it's just a 20 minute walk from Chalfont and Latimer tube it's such a perfect getaway from the city. Can't wait to go back.

My husband booked us a night here as a surprise for me. It's a lovely hotel. Most of the staff were really friendly but we went to the bar before dinner and I stood at the bar for 15 minutes waiting to be served while 5 members of staff who were behind the bar ignored me. Only 1 of them was making a drink it was only when someone else came up to get served that one of them started to serve. We had 1 drink then went to the pub and had dinner there.

Beautiful hotel, pity we didn't stay in it. Booked by phone wasn't told would be staying in annexe,a good 10 min walk up a hill with 83year old mum with a walking frame. Booking staff need some training. Unloaded car to be told in reception there was parking near the annexe (if we'd known we wouldn't have unloaded car). Thought I'd booked inc breakfast, this wasn't mentioned on check in and nothing on my email stating breakfast was included (didn't have breakfast). On check out was told included breakfast, which was deducted in the end, plus 10% discount on food (which bar staff new nothing about). Also bit of advice, card only in bar, which I couldn't see anywhere on website. Beautiful hotel, beautiful surroundings, food was lovely, staff were lovely just need some training

Beautiful rooms , lovely and clean . The lounge area was very relaxing and bright. the lady who dealt with me at reception was lovely and friendly extremely helpful. The breakfast was fantastic a small selection but very well presented and cooked The grounds are beautiful and I can only imagine how lovely it will look at Christmas Only down side was bar service extremely slow and was served drinks with unknown particles floating in it :/ but over all a wonderful stay and would highly recommend . I will definitely return

The Latimer Estates where gorgeous! I enjoyed getting to know the history behind the main house and the surrounding houses, thanks to a neighbor. The location is stunning and romantic. Perfect for the wedding we attended. However, you need a car or taxi to reach the estates. We had to get off several stops ahead of the end of line just to find a taxi to pick us up. However, leaving, the front desk will arrange one for you making the return trip much easier. The breakfast was very good and the drinks were always on point.

I booked this hotel for my Husbands birthday present and booked the superior room as a 'treat'. This hotel is definitely not a treat and the room was not superior! I've stayed in nice Ibis Budget Hotels. So gutted as I had looked forward to it for weeks as we are currently living in a building site. The advert has very misleading photos. I've never complained at a hotel even if it is a bit run down for the price but this was actually dirty. Stains all over the carpet and the throw on the bedding, rotten bath panel, and a damp smell, the carpet was folding up and the windows and walls were dirty. We travelled 4 hours and had 40 minutes to arrive, get a shower and go on to Harry Potter Studios I notified the hotel when I made my first complaint, and they sent maintenance but nothing was achieved. I then had no choice but to use the shower as we needed to leave in 15 minutes. Still, no manager arrived. We then for the first time ever decided to just leave and hope we could book somewhere else. I could probably stay in a run-down room but not a dirty one. Was not the birthday treat we were expecting! Like I said I've stayed in better Ibis Budget hotels this was more like a student hall or hostel

Unless you physically have your room key in your hand, your booking isn't secure! They cancelled the bridal suite where the bride to be was meant to stay the night before her wedding LESS THEN A WEEK BEFORE THE WEDDING!!! They also cancelled all the Wedding's party's rooms... Luckily our bookings for the wedding day itself were kept! They relocated everyone 15-20 minutes down the road and gave little to no compensation to everyone. A few drinks vouchers for the other hotel and a very small bar tab for the wedding day... otherwise all we got was a "sorry". I also left 5 messages (via phone and email) for a manager to call me back and no manager ever did. And on the wedding day, one of the staff member behind the bar wasn't old enough to serve alcohol so effectively there was only 1 person behind the bar. The customer service received from this estate by all the wedding party was nothing but terrible. Think twice before booking here, especially if it's for your wedding

Amazing place like living in a stately home. Beautiful views. Friendly welcoming staff who can't do enough for you. Fabulous restaurant, good food and wines. Excellent breakfast. Highly recommend. A very relaxing stay.

What a lovely stay we had at this hotel. The room was absolutely gorgeous; the dinner was delicious (the sirloin steak and sea bass were perfect!) and breakfast was a real treat - and all set in such beautiful surroundings. The staff were all so friendly and attentive and it was a real pleasure to stay here.

A lovely building in beautiful surroundings. As with a lot of these types of venue, the owner's either don't generate enough income, or divert that income elsewhere, hence the infrastructure and furnishings don't reflect the grand nature of this former estate. Some things were good, some things weren't so good. It is squarely aimed at the mid budget, volume corporate/events market. To be fair, in this respect it probably does OK. The new buildings look like they were designed by an architect more familiar with nursing homes and community centres. By all means book your corporate event here but don't take your partner or family for a getaway.

I'm now guilty of only reviewing places that I've thoroughly enjoyed. This is since I received a right royal spanking from a global trip-reviewing outfit because they didn't like me being honest! Latimer Estates is obviously 5☆, a blind person would see it as much. Everything was perfect: the site, its history, the food, the people. Especially the people, so friendly and accommodating.

UPDATE: Updated from 1* to 4* as Jasmine reached out and offered us a complimentary tea which was much nicer this time! We were able to bring our dog with us and overall really enjoyed the experience. Great food, great views. Thanks to Jasmine and the team. I'll make this short as I already sent a detailed inquiry directly to De Vere, but they haven't gotten back to me for whatever reason. My partner and I came here for an afternoon tea for her birthday. 1. There was no decaf tea available, something that we were told would be available when originally booking. My partner can't have caffeine 2. We were not told our afternoon tea would overlap with a wedding. This meant the room we were in was extremely noisy (the reception was in the same room), service was slow (the wedding had priority) and the bar was pretty much inaccessible 3. Again, our dietry requests which were mentioned when we booked were not respected and we had to ask for different sandwiches twice 4. After being promised a birthday desert, I had to remind the staff three times before it was brought out The actual afternoon tea when we did eventually get it was nice and the views from the hotel are good. When the wedding reception finished we were able to actually enjoy the experience, but the above issues could have been totally avoided. What a shame.

Very comfortable, restaurant expensive. I would have liked it to mention the 4 lots of stairs to restaurant as my 93yr old father struggled & although we could walk out side it was raining. The other point I didn't like was being rushed at breakfast, saying at 09.50 the room needed to be prepared for lunch by 12.00 with at least 6 members of staff!! Really!! Disappointing. Also it was noisy at 06.30 with people enrering the gym, very selfish with bedrooms close by.

I would give them less stars if I could. The women on the phone charged me the normal rate rather than the discount rate that you get when you register, which I did before ringing. She then didn't put down that I was bringing a child or that we needed a travel cot, which I explained on the phone. I emailed Latimer and they advised me there would be one in the room when we got there and said they updated the system to say we had a child with us. When we arrived I asked again at reception if there was a travel cot and I was assured there was one in the room. Got to the room with no travel cot, also a lot smaller then I thought. Rang reception, who then got someone to bring one and set it up. After they left, my husband was rearranging the pillows and noticed there were blood stains on it. I rang reception and all they did was bring a new one no apology nothing. We paid £125 a night to stay here. The rooms were very run down and the blood pillow just topped it off for me. I would have got better service in a premier Inn, at least I would have got my money back for staying in a discussing room.

De Vere Latimer Estate is a charming retreat that combines history, natural beauty, and exceptional hospitality. Whether you're looking for a peaceful getaway or a base to explore the nearby attractions, this estate offers a memorable experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a serene countryside escape.

Had one night away on a deal, superior room with a view. Room was nice, bed was comfy and we had double doors to open. Have to say the staff couldn't have been nicer, the food was very good and the building and area really are worth a visit. Such a relaxing beautiful place to relax and unwind in.

  • 3/5 Milliesue 10 months ago on Google
The first room was clean but one couldn't even make a proper cup of tea( no biscuits either) if we wanted to. The shower drains the water wasn't going down fast enough so it became a mini baby pool. As for the second room the service was much better. The breakfast was lovely as for the dinner there were many vegan options at all

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Latimer, and it was even better than the first time. The staff are lovely - particularly Dominique, who kindly upgraded us to a simply beautiful room - nicest we’ve ever stayed in. She was so friendly and genuine. The hotel is immaculate. Breakfast was lovely. A lovely walk around the estate. Parking great. We will definitely return.

My wife and I really enjoyed spending the day and staying the night at De Vere Estate. We booked through Secret Escapes so got a deal which included afternoon tea and breakfast. Afternoon tea was delicious and they even tailored it for us, as we requested Halal meat, and no gelatin/ alcohol. Was one of the best afternoon teas we've had. The estate itself was beautiful, we walked along and had a view of the river Chess which was nice. You need a car if you want to venture anywhere around the estate. The room was clean and had the regular amenities. The breakfast was good, we requested veg sausages, which the chef made for us, although he was a little grumpy despite my attempts at being nice and polite, especially since I saw him smiling and being nice to other customers. Otherwise, can't fault the experience and would definitely recommend again.

Lovely location and buildings. Everything was well-presented, the staff were really friendly and helpful, and loved our dog! The whole venue was very dog-friendly, although the room (which was very nice) could have done with a fridge for the dog food. The evening meals and breakfasts were very tasty and good-sized portions.

  • 5/5 Leanne P. 10 months ago on Google
We really enjoyed our stay and food. We were in room 326 & had a view of the grounds. The rooms are quaint for superior rooms but have the amenities you need & a fan (no aircon). The grounds are beautiful, the service & staff were very good. We loved the food & found portion size generous on mains. We were happy with it. The waiting staff were very attentive & we were impressed for a 3 star hotel it was very good. Yes rooms could be bigger but you do pay more for that. There was a wedding so all suites were fully booked. Gym could have been cleaner but pool was big & sauna was big. Overall very pleased with our stay.

My family had a lovely breakfast at Latimer Estate last week. There was wonderful service, and very friendly and helpful staff. A special thank you goes to Shaun, Conor and Maxim who really looked after every need of my family as we celebrated a birthday breakfast. Would highly recommend!
