This is a nice place to stay, Place is clean, staff is friendly, Its a great value for the area. I felt safe, This is an older property, no it not the RITZ, Its a great simple place to stay. New Owner is doing great at updating this almost 70 year old property. I would stay here again.

While recently visiting Chicago I decided before checking into a hotel to read the bad reviews first. Good thing I did because the luxury chain I am used to staying at had several reviews of bed bugs over the past 6 months. This place had good reviews so we decided to try it. This place may not be the Hyatt , but it is clean very quiet and has the nicest staff. They even have a 165 lb. security puppy! We originally rented for two days in case it got shifty after dark. We ended up staying the whole week. All the people that stayed there were friendly and we even swapped stories with a few. The people that work up front will come out and talk with you. The price is incredible. (For what the other places are charging they could charge more). Our next trip up we know where we are staying up front. Thanks Gateway for taking such good care of us while we stayed with you. P.S. Phillip I will be back to see my puppy!

This is an older motel that has been improved. Rooms are cozy quiet and lots of extra touches to make it like a studio apartment. Coffee and sweet roll offered. Low priced so you can afford a big breakfast at a nearby pancake house.

At first I was a little apprehensive when we saw the place, however had a wonderful experience there. The room smelled fresh and clean. Wind during the summer time, was grateful to discover that the AC worked really well, And was surprised With the scolding hot shower shower after coming back you're coming back from A very rainy cubs game. The people were friendly and the doors automatically lock when you step outside so do make sure you remember your keys. It was only 35 minutes away from Wrigley Stadium, making it a great choice for anyone looking for a nice cheap hotel that's clean and not too out of the way.

Such a gem in a big city. Our room was too cute. Linens were fresh. The room was toasty and Staff were friendly. Nice family run place to stay! Much better than some big named places. Could use a little dusting on the ac and around the baseboards, but too cold for ac anyway.

Quaint, older property in a convenient location to Midway. Great value and the staff is terrific, but it struggles with maintenance a bit. Had to change rooms because of an issue, which was done promptly and cheerfully, but the 2nd room also had an issue (which was corrected). Nicely decorated but some of the furniture is pretty worn. I would not hesitate to stay here overnight again but I'm not sure the savings justifies the value. Hopefully on its way UP with some work and not in decay.

It was a really great room for the price! The bed obviously wasn't 5 star, but the room was clean and very spacious. The person working the desk was a little gruff but not mean or rude. The woman working the desk the next morning was incredibly pleasant. The neighborhood was fine. Close to a lot of restaurants.

You get what you pay for. I paid $150 for one night. Pros>> air conditioned room, good location & was a quiet stay. Cons>> Disgusting/dirty floors, sand/dirt all over the bed, and the room stank so bad. I personally would never stay again.

I stayed her on an assignment from December 2020 to March 2021. And they staff was so nice and friendly. The rooms were clean. They were very nice and friendly to me and my two daughters. The owner was awesome my daughter loved him and would follow him every where and just talk to him. They all really looked out for us. If inwas to ever do an assignment i would definitely stay there with them again. I miss them honestly. I hope they continue to prosper.

All the staff were amazing. The rooms were very clean. You can tell when a owner takes pride in their property when you see her outside cleaning and also cleaning rooms. We WILL be staying here again when we come back into town from Texas! Thank you so much for our pleasant stay.

Absolutely Love This place! I call it my home away from home. Every is clean, comfortable, cozy, and classic. Decor is simply gorgeous and the bed are so comfortable that when I wake up the next day I think I am in my bed. The prices are very reasonable. This is where I come every time I come to Chicago.πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Clean. Staff was very responsive to any needs. Breakfast is a pre-packaged danish & coffee. There was a ring around the tub & one of the blankets had a cut in it.

Went to the Gateway Inn today for a 4 hour stay and I will never go there again!! The lady at the front desk was so rude she even hung up on me. During my stay, the television did not work. All I saw was snow and when I call the front desk (twice), the room phone didn't work. I dialed "0" and it just kept beeping. So, when I checked out, I told the lady at the front desk what happened with the TV and the phone in the room so that they could fix the problem before they had another guest in that room. Her response was "didn't your friend come out to get ice", "I didn't hear the phone ring". I told her I wasn't a technical person, but she saw my auto mechanics jacket and implied that since I was wearing a jacket from a technical school, I should have been able to figure out the problem with the TV. I Didn't appreciate her comments and felt like she was crossing personal boundaries she shouldn't have crossed. Then she told me I was supposed to change the source on the TV. Now how would I know that I was supposed to do that if she didn't tell me at the time of check-in? She also told me that I should have called the Gateway Inn's direct number when the hotel room phone didn't work. It's amazing the way that she can tell me all these things that I should have done when I paid my money to have a room with a working TV and contact with the front front desk when having ssues or concerns. Maybe the lady at the front desk, who calls herself management and the owner, should make sure the equipment in the rooms are working properly when people come to stay there!! Never again!!

Under New Management trying to update their rooms so give them a little credit for that. But still the same old Gateway. I come into town and I stay here because of my pet cuz they're pet friendly and they always give me a bottom floor which is good other than that I don't know I got to see how these people are I just got here

The employees here make staying here feel like home away from home. I am also extremely impressed with cleanliness of the hotel. Any issues that may have arisen during our stay, were taken care of immediately, with kindness and professionalism. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Solid little place outside of Chicago. Clean rooms. Close to Midway, but not a lot of local spots that are easy to walk to.

Nice cozy little inn. We were in town for a wedding at a nearby venue and opted to stay here after reading the reviews on this and several other hotels in the immediate area. The grounds are very well kept, staff is friendly, and the coffee was good as well. The only two things I think they could do better would be adding blackout shades/curtains to the front window and having diary creamer for the coffee in the office. I would for sure stay again if in the area.

It was beautiful. Very nice family owned place. We had two rooms. Both nicely remodeled. Clean. Very nice staff. I will definitely stay again. Only issue was the one room is recently remodeled and bathroom door wouldn't shut past the toilet. But as soon as I told him when we checked out he went to check on it to get it fixed. Definitely worth it!

Very accommodating, friendly hosts. Despite being on the highway, the rooms are quiet, extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. They deserve more than a one star rating.

Great little Inn...Staff was professional and very friendly. Rooms were clean, newly renovated and had all of the necessities. It's close to a lot of great restaurants and the neighborhood isn't terrible. Would definitely stay again.

Highly recommend to anyone who is on a budget but doesn't want to sacrifice quality. Included basic amenities, like mini fridge, microwave, AC and plenty of cable tv options (no coffee machine in room but available in the office I'm told). Close to a anything you'd need, from an emergency room to a Target. Only 2 small but serious complaints. 1. Comcast remote was oddly sticky even after I attempted to clean it myself. 2. No bathroom fan.

Was clean, price was very reasonable, friendly and helpful people, close to everything and we loved the decor of the room! Oh yeah, and although I don't smoke, the smoking area is right outside the door with table and chairs for those that do.

We love this motel. Always staying here when coming to Chicago for work. Rooms are really cozy and clean. Good location (Planet fitness, Walgreens, corner backery just 3 minutes walking). Hair dryer and iron are available on request at reception, but we always take ours.

This is a very nice place to stay. The guests are quiet and it’s in a good location. About 30 minutes from Midway airport. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. They smell good too! The property is very well maintained. The staff is wonderful! Tony and Sheila couldn’t be any nicer. Very polite and very hard workers but always with a smile on their face. I would definitely recommend staying here.
