I haven't visited Louie's in quite a number of years and it seemed to have been going downhill at the time. I was there 2 weeks ago for lunch and there was quite a change. The service was quite good. I had their meat ravioli with meat sauce and it was very good, very rich flavor. They serve their garlic bread with. They were very generous with it, brought more with the ravioli entree. Overall a very good lunch experience and I do plan on going back to try another entree.

40 years of excellence. This restaurant is a keeper. Their food is superb and their sauce is delicious. Salads come with olives and beets. Exceptional value, highly recommend. We ate here before the concer5 a5 Genesee Theater. Cannot say enough about great food and great service.

I always enjoy an evening at Louie’s. It has that old school supper club atmosphere which adds to the experience. They make a Wonderful Brandy Old Fashioned, the breadsticks alone are worth coming here, even the salads taste better here! I’ve had everything from their chicken, pizza, pasta, fish dinners and soups & the quality is always there! I will keep coming back and recommend others come here to treat themselves to a lovely meal!

A long time family run business and a very family friendly oriented theme. As soon as I walked in the ambiance was very warm and cozy. A clean and well organized bar welcomed my friends and I with a neat touch of old and maybe even authentic clock and cash register. The free garlic bread was so good, marshmallowy soft and tasty. First time I has the Louisiana style broasted chicken with super buttery mashed potatoes and it was phenomenal! Chicken was so juicy, perfectly crunchy and with less fat. Price is very reasonable for a great tasting food with an outstanding customer service. Will come back to try more of the items in their menu. I heard the hamburgers and sandwiches are really good too!

Chicken is so good it makes you forget about everything else. We have had the Lasagna to go. Today we wanted pizza. Where do you want to go? I don't know. Let's go try Louie's pizza. Sure, let's go. We arrive and got caught by the "All you can eat chicken" But we did order a plate size Super Duper Pizza. Oh so good. Chicken, Lasagna and now Pizza. So many choices. And the drinks are good too.

Dated but you can tell they think it's cool. Place is filthy my feet stick to the floor. Smelt of asbestos judging by age of building it probably is. Steer clear plenty of other better places!

Better food than at Portillo's, I wish they had more locations so I could eat there on a daily basis. Also a pleasure to meet the very kind owner who comes from Greece. Thank you for marvelous food!

Excellent service despite the fact that we had like 25 people. Pizza is wonderful, super thin, crusty. My friends raved about the sauce, but my love went to the very fresh mozzarella. It makes a huge difference.

Great old school restaurant. Love these kinds of businesses. The Reubens are awesome - not so much for the meatball sandwich. The service was great, and we will definitely try it again. Say hi to Bill (I believe Billy) when you go! He's the owner- great guy.

Very yummy and we love that it has been there for a long time. Our waitress has good people skills. First time we tried it she told us about the history of the place. We will be returning soon

I only took away a star since I originally wanted the veal parmesan. However, they were out, so I settled for the chicken parmesan and lasagna. Both were exceptionally delicious. I I grew up on North Ave and hadn't had them for 25 years. Same owner, same set up as when I was a kid. I'm glad to see the service and food was as great as it was 25 years ago!

Came from Washington State and saw this hole in the wall type place to eat. Walked in and was immediately greeted. Was seated and had excellent conversation with the waitress. Ordered a pasta dish, daughter ordered chicken dumpling soup. This is why we find these hole in the walls. Food was excellent and I highly recommend this place!

Awesome old school Italian restaurant! Perfect for before a show at the Genesee Theater. If you are there on a Friday, have the Poor Man's Lobster! Lasagna is incredible! Good strong drinks!

Delicious original food and great staff! French fried shrimp is worth a try. AOH is where it's at, request real bacon. Broasted chicken is a little dry. Ribs fell off the bone. Overall great food and will continue to come here.

One of my all time favorite places. I eat there every time I'm in town. Had the ribs this time and they were fantastic! Plus it's just comforting in a world of constant change to come back and see Louie's is still the same great place it's always been.

Hubby and I went here for dinner at 6pm on a Sunday (they close at 7pm) we had the super duper pizza. It was yummy. Service was a little Slow but we were still done and out by 714 pm. So not horribly slow. All of the staff was very friendly. And the prices were reasonable. If we’re in the area again we will stop by.

Awesome old school place, friendly family run with simple but gray food and stiff drinks.

Grew up eating at this place as a little girl. I remember twin brother's was running it. Super nice men, everytime I visit home, I have to get a A.O.H. (Angel On Horseback)! It taste the same everytime. I don't eat coleslaw at all but there's hit different.

Our first time here. We didn't let the negative reviews deter us. We had a wonderful dinner. My husband had the broasted chicken and I had a personal pizza and were very good. The bread sticks are to die for! As soon as the bread basket was empty, the little red headed gal was friendly and Johnny on the spot getting us more. Yes, the decor and building are dated but didn't bother us. Highly recommend.

It is an old supper club for atmosphere, but the food & service is always very good & consistent! The basket of garlic butter bread you get brought to your table is addicting 😋

This place is a bit of a dive. My shoes stuck to the bathroom floor in the women's room. Also, our waitress neglected to take our order for a while, which was frustrating. The food was good and I did enjoy the bread sticks.

Absolutely best sauce ever! I got the veal parm and it was absolutely amazing. My husband and son both got pizzas neither had left overs. Both said best pizza ever! The people, oh man the people, they were the nicest, perfect service. The place is older but clean!!! Loved the atmosphere. Also I don't know what is in or how they make their break they give you while waiting, but I could've just sat there and ate that!!!.

This is an old school local restaurant with great food in a older lay-out. Very 60's-ish of the old restaurant/bar combo layout. Takeout or dine-in both work.

Louie's Restaurant: A culinary gem. Exquisite dishes, expertly prepared. Warm and inviting ambiance. Impeccable service. A must-visit for a delightful dining experience.

I give it a three-star rating because even though our food was good, one of our order items was missing from our takeout. We live 7 miles away and when we got home we noticed an item was missing. It's not worth a 14 mile round trip to go back for a $3 item but there is really no excuse for not completely filling an order.

This beautiful restaurant is quietly tucked away at a lovely location! This was an elegant place to dine, the customer service was excellent and the food was delicious.

A Waukegan tradition that didn't disappoint! Food and service was fantastic. Excellent prices too. Glad to see after almost 20yrs of not being there not much has changed!

We have looked for the last year for a fine dining experience. Louie's Restaurant far exceeded our expectations. This was the best restaurant we've had the pleasure of attending in a very long time. The food was spectacular, the service, thoughtful and personal, and the ambiance was peaceful and quaint.

First time there, and a very nice change of pace from all the chains around the area. Like family places. Better atmosphere. Many times much better food.

Awesome (old school feeling) neighborhood restaurant with very attentive staff. I have to be honest as a pizza fanatic, the pizza is mediocre... Not bad but definitely not an "amazing pizza or best in the area" I would patronize from the local neighborhood restaurant aspect but the pizza is not a gem or anywhere even close.

Highly suggest for a spot for before amy shows at the Genesys Theatre! Delicious food and great service! Owner shakes your hand as you walk out as well

I posted a review that disappeared. I found Louie's on Google and when I walked in it was like walking into the restaurant my family frequented in Ridgefield Park NJ when I was a kid. It felt like home. Fantastic food, staff...and a local clientele. WOWZA

Been going to Louie's ever since I lived near Waukegan. I used to go there when I was a little kid with my aunts and grandma. The food has always been amazing and the staff are such kind people. My favorite has always been the spaghetti. Every time I come back to Waukegan I always ask for Louie's at least 3 times while I am there.
