I’m not going to lie, I was hesitant with my first ever “motel” stay. But this motel far exceeds any expectations. It’s cleaner than some 4-5 star hotels I’ve stayed at. The bed was very comfortable. Close drive to Milwaukee. The bar attached (Crave) was a delight. We plan on using this place to stay for future trips to Milwaukee.

Very disgusted with the whole experience. Not very clean, after driving six hours to end up cleaning a room that should be cleaned already i wasn't happy then to find out the ceiling in the shower leaked through the light fixture not to mention the room smelt like wet dog but after cleaning and airing it out it wasn't to bad just old. The wall had a bubble under looked like it just was old to and it just was a bad spot so we told the front desk guy and he was cool about it and knew about the "separation". I have 3young boys and my 7 year old son just barely leaned against it and it busted open. I saved the pieces and told the guy and again it was "fine and can be fixed". Our last day and I ALWAYS clean before we leave (i owned my own cleaning company) so out of common courtesy and habit i clean before we leave. My husband receives a not so happy from his upset boss that he was just charged 800.00 from a trashed room that also supposedly smelled of smoke which we do not smoke so im confused why they are charging us for that and the wall and supposedly a professional cleaning crew which is hilarious seeing as the that room looked and smelled better after we left then it was when we showed up. So sad that place has potential and could be very nice if they weren't so worried about screwing people over. My husband drives dumptruck and always staying in hotels and they are the only place that had problems and issues

If a no-frills, safe, clean, and affordable location is what you're looking for, this is your destination! I needed a location to remotely work while my dog was at a specialty clinic and this was perfect! Will definitely stay again when it's time for his check-up.

If you want luxury, then spend big bucks at the Pfister or Ambassador. If you want a plethora of amenities, then the Marriot or Hilton will suffice. But if, like me, you have people to visit in Mequon or nearby east side, and all you want is a clean comfortable room, then that is what you will get here. The ambience is pure simplicity, circa 1950's-60's, and if you are not from Milwaukee, then you are most likely unaware of the rich history of this motel. For decades, Chalet on the Lake was a 5* restaurant where even the middle class found a way to dine once or twice a year. Dressed in your Sunday best, it was an elegant and delicious dining experience, and kids like me loved petting the owner's St. Bernard, Heidi, who greeted all the children as though she were theirs. But if you abhor historical landmarks and hate the cold, as some here have suggested, then you might want to consider avoiding Milwaukee in the winter, and go stay somewhere where you overpay for a warm working shower and cozy bed because the hotel spent its money on modern decor and amenities you may never need to use. This is 5* bang for your buck--or is it Bucks?

I really love this place. I absolutely love how almost everything is original from the year 1988. It's very rare to come across vintage places, and it's very well maintained and clean. The people who work here are super friendly and they even have their own restaurant/bar! It feels like home <3

Terrible place. Really disappointing as this was always a dependable, clean, comfortable spot. My brother and girlfriend just stayed there. The room was very cold (the front desk could do nothing). The bed was in terrible condition. The only solution after 3 calls and very late at night (actually, 4 am) was to move to another room. We were loyal customers in the past, but never again.

I reserved 2 executive Queen rooms for a wedding party. The service went above and beyond. We were able to check in early, rooms were very very nice. Would highly recommend.

Very clean and the room smelled fresh. The mattress was a little tired. The front desk attendant was friendly, efficient and quick. The bathroom was spic and span. The area feels safe. The price can't be beat.

Nice motel. Some people are confusing it with the old "Chalet on the Lake" HOtel which was a different place. The "Chalet MOtel" IS NOT on the lake 🙂 The "Chalet on the Lake" HOtel WAS a nice resort / hotel that by the late 1980s had ceased to rent rooms and had become a supper club and an event venue. The old "Chalet on the Lake" or COTL closed in 1990 or 1991. Right after it closed it was used to stage the up-north scenes in the TV movie "Dillinger" (released 1991) which starred Mark Harmon. The COTL was a stand-in for the "Little Bohemia" resort in Manitowish Waters WI where the real John Dillinger was caught in a shootout in 1934. I used to eat at the COTL in its last days. Great old place. But it was not the Chalet MOtel. THE COTL was really truly on the shore of Lake Michigan (south of Virmond Park) hence its name, "Chalet ON the Lake."

Very friendly staff upgraded us because of A/c issues. Great room. Clean. Close to lots of stores and restaurants. They are in the process of updating.

Clean, quiet, and priced just right. There was a pokemon go spin right on premises and a bar in the parking lot too for quick bites.

I arrived at the motel to check in at 3pm. Went to check in and they told me that my room was given to someone else because they have overbooked. I was told by the clerk he was new and there wasn’t anything he could do and the manager wasn’t there. I had my reservation email and showed that we reserved and paid. Didn’t help. Unfortunately the area all hotels were booked as there were multiple large events that weekend. So we ended up going to our event, didn’t gave s place to get ready and ran out of time for dinner as we tried to find a room somewhere. Ended up driving the 2+ hours home after our event, got home at 3 am. Thanks for this.

They raised price cause of golf tournament and I'm not there not fair but had senior rate. Fridge not on if food needed to go in. . Lamps old and torn shade, clean but room not for 200. TV old n blurry. Parking minimal on weekends due to food 🍸 bar!! No elevator.

We usually go to this motel for a getaway because it is so clean and very reasonable. Unfortunately our home had a fire and we were at the motel for a month. They staff and housekeepers were so accomodating and friendly and it was very reasonable for the room we had and what a nice motel it was for the price. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. Cleanest motel/hotel I probably ever have been to. Housekeepers are amazing.

This hotel is where we spent the last night of our trip and I regret booking it. The Chalet Inn put a sour end note on an otherwise fantastic time in Montana. It was $225+ for a subpar place. When checking in the owner was rude and presented as she was annoyed that we and other customers were there. When we got to the room the sink was dirty, there was only 1 towel in a room for 4 people, and there was no soap/body wash. The light in the room is a single bulb with a cord attached and no light shade. Sleeping was difficult as there was a constant humming sound. It may have been a washing machine close by as our beds also vibrated at some point during the night like a dryer does at the end of a cycle.
