This is the ticket. I’m terribly claustrophobic, even with a Valium. Shoved in a tunnel? I don’t think so. Open MRI: Shoved in a somewhat wider tunnel? Nope, that’s not happening either. You’re still on your back with something not much more than a foot over your face, in a helpless situation. The open/upright? I would kiss the feet of whoever invented it. It was so easy. 45 min. (with a break) watching Comedy Central. The machine is not nearly as loud, but they give you earplugs. If I can do this, anyone can. Staff was courteous. Tech not much personality, but I wasn’t there for beer and pretzels. Overall polite. I never felt any anxiety. Didn’t have to take any calming med.

Have a pinched nerve in neck and could not lay still long enough for a traditional MRI. Luckily found this place and they were in network. Environment is clean and comfortable. Did not have to wait around long. Tech did her best to make me as comfortable as possible. Got clear pictures taken and to my doctor in 2 business days. If laying down puts you in too much pain, you should give this place a try.

I was at Deerfield for my husband’s MRI on January 7th 2022, charged me $100 upfront even though we have a very good insurance. We didn’t mind and paid them. Today almost 2 months no refund issued . My husband is in the hospital and I forgot to check about refund. Finally I called and they didn’t even process any paperwork with insurance and sitting on my refund. I was very upset with them and finally they going to issue refund going to take two weeks. Charging customers and not taking responsibility is careless and people forget and lose money. No one charges money upfront if you have a right insurance and if there is a problem can send a bill and patient pays. But not caring about patient’s refund is irresponsible so I will never go there again

I had an appointment at a local hospital to have an MRI and wasn't even able to start the procedure. I was rolled into the machine for less than a minute and asked to come out. The noise alone coming from the next room where another MRI was taking place was horrible. I was told it would sound like loud construction noise with banging and clanging for about 45 minutes. They had earphones but I was told I would still hear the noise. Between the noise and being in an enclosed tube it was over for me very quickly. After doing an internet search I found Upright MRI and it was a blessing. The only noise I heard was some taping, I was able to sit up, the staff was very helpful and the tech that administered the test was efficient and very kind. The results were ready in two days without any problems. I received a disc immediately but for patients, you need to know you will not have the software on your computer to read it. The disc is for physicians. I could easily understand the written report. If I ever need another MRI (hopefully not) I will only have it with this type of equipment. Hospitals need to upgrade their equipment!

I have had multiple MRI’s from Upright MRI and am very happy with their services. They are always polite, compassionate about my comfort level and on-time. I can’t say enough good about them! On my recent visit my technician was very nice and helpful to ensure my comfort in keeping my severe pain to a minimum while I was having the imaging done. Very nice people and very CLEAN facility. Thank you!

I had an MRI at Upright MRI of Deerfield recently. The procedure was all I hoped for: upright, open, comfortable, stress free and more quiet than the typical process. The staff is excellent. I am claustrophobic and this procedure was an answer to my prayers. I spent the time watching the White Sox - much more stressful!

Don't be fooled. If you are looking for an open MRI because you are claustrophobic or a bigger person this may not be for you. This is closed in on the sides tighter than a regular MRI. I'm a bigger person and couldn't fit my shoulders or hips between the walls

I completely backed out my first MRI but coming to Upright MRI was first quick! In addition the communication while they were taking scans, the TV took your attention away from suffering from Claustrophobia. I can’t say anything but great things definitely would come back.

It's unfortunate that this is one of the few places that does upright MRIs. I would not go here again. The reception people are not friendly or welcoming. They call to confirm appointments for Mondays on Saturdays, giving you no time to call your doctor if there's something wrong with the order. They do not handle prior authorization like other MRI places, so make sure you get that sorted before your visit. I was not given any warning about a $100 deposit before my visit, so I was caught completely off guard. The receptionist fought with me about this, which was completely unprofessional. I have a voicemail from them with no mention at all about the deposit. Be vigilant with this place. The only reason I can give two stars is that my tech was very friendly and patient with showing me how to sit in the machine.

Warning pictures on website are “bait & switch”. On the website you see pics of a MRI machine with a woman sitting in the front with her hands on her side. In real life when you get to Upright MRI. You have to sit a good 6 feet away from the front of the MRI machine and then you must hold your arms high above your head for 30min. The machine is also very tight and if you have shoulder pain prior to your appointment. You won’t enjoy the experience at all. You don’t find any of this out until you get in the back and the tech explains this to you. Upright. Use 100% accurate pictures on your website that clearly show how patients have to sit in your machine and explain clearly to patients on the phone when they make the appointments.

Being claustrophobic is a terrible feeling. I scheduled an appointment with Upright MRI and learned I have nothing to worry about ever again. Dr. Fox and his team is amazing and gave me the MRI I needed. If you have any questions or doubt about getting an MRI call Dr. Fox you will not be sorry... Thanks so much now my mind is at peace.

The staff was very helpful and nice. Well prepared and efficient. Only issue is machine is older version and small but being an upright can't be too picky.

My mother (94 years old) is claustrophobic and was very apprehensive about having an MRI which was ordered by her PCP. After she had the MRI came out and asked me to write a 5 star review. She said that the tech did everything she could to make my mom as comfortable as possible. Hopefully, my mom will not need another MRI but if she does, she will go back to this open MRI facility

I would recommend flushing your money down the toilet rather than going to this place. I was charged more than twice the amount mentioned on the phone. They charged me twice to get an MRI of the neck. Not only this, my radiologist mentioned how the scans were the worst he had seen in his career. When I called to get them redone, the manager, Andrea took 2 weeks to respond to my message, constantly constructing lies and evading her duties. When I visited the office, Andrea was sitting in her office, chatting away to a friend and did not even have the courtesy to answer a question that the front desk had. GO SOME PLACE ELSE.

The people at Upright MRI of Deerfield were all very helpful, patient, and thoughtful to my needs. Because of my back pain, I needed to take a break where they made sure I was comfortable and didn't rush me to get back into place before I recovered. The MRI machine was great. No enclosures. And the noise was half that of the normal tube MRI. I read some reviews that the pictures came out blurry. That would be because you moved. I stood very still and my pictures came out perfect. I would definitely recommend this place if you have claustrophobia (the front is wide open) or want a picture that would show pressure as you stand. They gave me a CD of the pictures before leaving. The report was emailed to me two days later. Great service!

Excellent service, very professional staff (Jenifer and Roberto), went there a few days ago for an MRI of my ears and brain and the exam took less than 45 mins . Super impressed with the place would recommend it to anyone .

I gave the disc to my specialist Dr. Azate and when he installed the disc it was to dark and blurred couldn't really see what the problem was to decide on the surgery. So know I have to take another MRI.

Just had my open MRI at Deerfield Open MRI. I am extremely claustrophobic. It was so great. The Tech was so friendly & made me very comfortable. I recommend it highly. My son could sit in the room with me. Thanks

Should have reviewed earlier... had done July 2020...had went thru an "open" MRI previously and it was nearly unbearable and would never do again. Did the upright MRI here and no problems at all, would do again. Just sat still and watched TV. If you are claustrophobic at all you can do this.

The MRI techs Robert and Claire were good and caring. Manny at the desk was great. Only thing is bathroom was filthy. Hairs on the floor. Dirty floor guards and walls. Toilet rim was up twice. Yuk!

I could not be happier with my experience at Upright MRI. I had some sort of reaction to either the contrast or the needle, and ended up passing out. The tech was amazing and very attentive. This was obviously not something either of us were expecting to happen, but he made me feel comfortable, made me laugh, and did not make me feel as if I had caused anyone any inconvenience for disrupting the process and delaying things a bit. In terms of the actual machine, it was completely fine. I am super claustrophobic, and I had no issues there, so I highly recommend if close spaces worry you. I do not see myself going anywhere else for future MRI needs. Thank you for taking such great care of me in a vulnerable situation!

Ms. Claire, our tech, was extremely patient and understanding for a very anxious person being scanned. We are thankful and recommend this establishment for those that need a particular type of MRI scan.

Took my dad here for an MRI as he couldn’t lay flat for one in the hospital. The staff was amazingly accommodating and listened to my dad to make his experience painless and quick. Everyone was friendly and understanding. My dad especially liked the snacks available after his scan!

The imaging quality was poor and our neurosurgeon is having my daughter do a second MRI at Northwestern. The radiology written report was being questioned by the prescribing doctor and the radiologist has not responded to the questions. The report neglected to point out a significant condition that another doctor suspects she has and also another condition was not written up in the report that her pain management doctors made note of. I can't get anyone to address any of these issues. For all the above issues I cannot recommend this facility

Edit: Few months after this post, billing issues arose. They were unraveled and solved within *one* business day. Phenomenal care, phenomenal service, phenomenal HUMAN BEINGS. Working with Jennifer was the smoothest process. She went so far to ensure that I not only got stellar care, but I left laughing. Andrea clearly cares so deeply about the communal feeling here at upright MRI. She’s invested. And Manny was kind and clear and wonderful to coordinate with. So grateful for medical care like this. And people like them. Ten gold stars.

I went to Upright MRI because I freak out having to be put inside the machine at hospitals. I have to be medicated. So I was referred here and I will definitely be going back. They made the unpleasant experience very comfortable for me. All I had yo do was sit in the chair with my feet up and watch TV. I even nodded off a couple of rltimes. The staff was very nice also which made this a plus. Driving from south side of Chicago to Deerfield was well worth it.

What an Excellent experience. You just sit down and the front is completely open. If you wanted to stand up and step out you could. No claustrophia! In addition, the office manager and hand picked staff, reflect the wonderful happy colors and affirmations painted on the walls throughout the facility. The manager Andrea, Manny the technician and Haley and Kimberly at the front desk - all kind and welcoming. Here are some photos of what's on the walls. Thank you Upright MRI!

Last time we went to Upright MRI, they were unable to fit my husband's size neck for a spine MRI. When we needed an MRI of his shoulder, I called to see if he would fit there for a shoulder MRI. I was assured he would fit. When we arrived, they took him back and came out saying, "No, he did not fit." All they said was "Sorry." It takes quite awhile to get an MRI appointment and now we were set back weeks to find another location. I will NEVER believe them or return to this place!

The staff are very personable and helpful, especially the two at the front desk. I had a good experience with this clinic and will go back in the future if needed. Just make sure to hold as still as you possibly can for clearer results.

Everyone at the facility was nice. My doctor's office said I will most likely need another MRI because the images were not good quality.

I felt the need to share the awesome experience I had today. Please know, I am ULTRA claustrophobic, and I mean, an extreme case. Upright MRI made todays MRI so comfortable for me. From the friendly front desk staff, to the amazing tech MANNY, who took so much time to make sure I was o.k. He was the star of the day. I am in shock that I was able to do it with no tears or episodes. I watched my favorite tv show throughout the entire MRI. Manny continued to check on me . If anyone struggles with claustrophobia, take the time to schedule at Upright MRI of Deerfield. You will not be disappointed. Such a major accomplishment for me!

  • 5/5 Robert V. 8 months ago on Google
Upright MRI is just what the name indicates; SITTING inside of the MRI unit, which is not only relaxing, but stress and worry free. You request from the technician (Manny) what you'd like to watch on the large, caption TV and less than 30 minutes later, the MRI is complete. A very compassionate person helping you from start to finish. My MRI reservation was not only ON TIME, but once Kim or Hailei received the Order/Script from the Doctor, my MRI was approved by insurance in advance, and the date & time was selected. The coffee & snacks are a treat provided by Upright, and the aquarium is as much fun to view as the MRI was to complete. Andrea (Mgr.) provided an office filled with love before, during, and after my MRI experience. Never again at a hospital. Dr.Bob

I love this place, they are friendly and very affecient. Always get me an appointment in timely manner. After using this site for several years it's nice to go in and people remember me. The report is very thorough, I love the lady that does the scan. I would recommend this MRI to everyone!!

I went here after not being able to tolerate the enclosed MRI at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The experience is great. It is very low key in a mall and the front desk staff and technicians are very nice. The machine is like an airplane seat and they have a large tv and I just watched CNN until it was finished. I had two visits and already recommended it to several people. The only way to get an MRI.

I will never, ever, go anywhere else for an MRI. What a difference from a regular MRI. I was quite nervous not knowing exactly what to expect. People were amazing. This was the first time I have ever been able to complete an MRI. I made several attempts over the past 19 years and all failed. I have sleep apnea and am claustrophobic. The technicians provided a supportive atmosphere as I still experienced a slight bout of claustrophobia in the tight side to side fit that I was able to adjust to within a couple of minutes. I fully recommend Upright MRI for this imaging.

The appointment went very well. I received two discs the next day to take to various doctors. However, my spinal surgeon never got a copy of the written report even two weeks afterwards. At three weeks afterwords I called and asked for the written report. I did receive it within minutes once I called. However my doctor was definitely annoyed .
