I have had great experiences until tonight. As soon as I opened the lid to the fried rice I was overwhelmed by the burnt smell. Then I tasted the crab Rangoon which must have been placed next to it because it also had a burnt aftertaste.

We’ve ordered out here many times and it’s always fresh and delicious! Best Chinese I’ve had. The broccoli in the beef and broccoli is SO fresh. We get that. The sweet and sour chicken and crab Rangoon. Everything is delicious. And the shrimp noodles with medium heat are to die for! Love the ambiance and customer service also!

High quality food. Friendly staff. Clean and pleasant atmosphere. While all Chinese restaurants have some good food, those with normal dine-in service (versus the mega-buffets and carryout only joints) tend to be of a significantly higher quality, and Golden Gate is no exception to the rule. Every item on their 'small' lunch buffet (Tues-Fri) is delectable with home-cooked quality. Worth every penny! A friend and I have also ordered a 'Dinner for 2' special from their regular menu and the food was excellent as always.

I would put 0 stars if I could. First of all when you called to place an order supposedly you’re talking to answering service and not anyone at the actual restaurant. The order was all messed up. The flavor was bland and missing something. Our crab Rangoon was missing from our order. They told us to come back to get it, they wouldn’t offer us any compensation for doing so (20 min drive there and back as well as the gas). They apparently do have dumpling sauce for the dumplings (only soy sauce YUK). The only thing that had some good flavor out of everything was the orange sauce for the orange chicken…. The orange chicken was basically just sweet and sour chicken with an orange flavored sauce. Nothing great about this Chinese restaurant. Save your money and go to Asianas in Pewaukee much better!

I have eaten Chinese food since I was a little girl & this is the best ever. For a small fee you can get great egg drop soup & egg rolls or very tasty egg foo young with your meal. Everyone gets a fortune cookie & almond cookie after your meal. Service is great. Prices reasonable. Nice atmosphere. Have never been disappointed.

This was honestly some of the most disappointing Chinese I think I've ever had. The chicken was tasteless, rice was day-old dry, and portion sizes were smaller than similar joints. If it had been great, the price would have been fair, but considering my lunch was more like neglected leftovers than the indulgence I was craving, I almost feel ripped off.

All these good reviews have to be fake. I’ve not been more unimpressed with a restaurant since moving to Milwaukee than this place. Chicken fried rice was dry and overcooked. Fried Wontons were pretty much overcooked wonton wrappers filled with something rubbery. Rangoons were garbage. Soggy sesame chicken and general Tso came in a container of sludge with vegetables; not good regardless. Literally the only reason to go there is for their egg rolls; they were very good. Most overpriced food I’ve had since moving here as well. Maybe dine-in is better, but I would be completely shocked. As I’m writing this my wife also informed that the fortune cookies were horrible.

It has been about 2yrs since Golden Gate's dining room has been open to the public. Had dinner there for the first time tonight and the food was wonderful, just as l remembered it. Our server was cheerful and efficent. I am so glad they are back. I missed them.

I ordered pickup from Golden Gate tonight, the only positives were: the order was ready when specified and the employee who helped me was a delight. The negatives.... The entrees were packaged in the sauce which led to super soggy, gross chicken pieces. Both of the sauces we got (general tso and sweet and sour) were so sweet that it was basically inedible. The rice was either under cooked or cooked and left uncovered which resulted in pieces of rice that were very hard mixed in with cooked rice. Overall very bad experience food wise.

I have been ordering food from here for years. Yet since Covid in 2020. This place has gone backwards. Last night was the last time I will order food from them. They started a Friday fish fry, this is a traditional thing in Wisconsin. What I received last night, was the worst I have had in the whole state of Wisconsin. Pepper steak was the worst I have ordered also from them. From charging for a eggs rolls and not in my order when I get home and yes they give it to you in the next order. I worked 16 hrs yesterday. I was tired didn't want to drive far. Yet Dairy Queen would of been better, They should tell from my phone number, me calling has been getting less and less. Last night was the last time. Guaranteed!! Never try the fish fry here. Their fish fry should NOT be on their menu!! Oh by the way. what i ordered was just for me. I was that hungry and I tossed it in the garbage.

Service, food, quality is all incredible. Great, deep flavors. Quantity is amazing too. You're craving some Chinese food? Go here.

Hands down the very best Chinese food around here. I only wish I lived closer. Great place for carryout or dining out, wonderful tea, fresh food, and service was great.

The food was really good. Came with a larger party, 9 people total, and our order got a little mixed up. They did offer to fix it, but they didn't comp our bill at all. Also, we informed the staff that it was a party member's 18th birthday, and they did not offer a free dessert or anything.

I dined in. Food was definitely better than your average Chinese restaurant. The server was slow taking our orders, bringing drinks, and other simple stuff while it wasn't busy and it was obvious that she wasn't either. I recommend getting takeout.

They never disappoint! We went for the lunch buffet. It was very busy but only took about 7-8 minutes to be seated. They keep plenty of food on the buffet at all times. The variety is always on point. They provide different options from day to day, so you can look online and know exactly what to expect daily. Because they're constantly replenishing the entrees, everything is hot and fresh! This is why I'm willing to drive all the way across time every time I have the chance. The price is a steal, and they have servers who go above and beyond to keep the tables clean and drinks coming, so the flow of customers doesn't create a backlog. I highly recommend trying them out!

Very unusual take on sesame chicken. Delicious, highly recommended. The appetizer variety plate was also delicious. Super friendly staff and we even got two fresh pea pods on our way out the door. ☯️

Overall the food was very good. I really liked their egg rolls and pot stickers. Orange chicken sauce is really sweet and i’m a little confused by the Beef Lo Mein as i was expecting thicker noodles. Fast and friendly staff for the takeout experience as well. Solid spot.

This food was amazing! I got chicken lo mein and I was expecting thick rather than thin noodles so I was initially disappointed. I decided to eat it anyway, of course, and WOW! The food was flavorful, the texture was amazing, this food was A+! Definitely recommend!

I love the atmosphere, not too crowded. But if you're gonna have a buffet option, please consider having more than 10 items. Otherwise just get rid of it 13 dollars for mushy noodles, hard white rice, and that garlic chicken and egg foo yung were some of the worst things I've ever had

We absolutely love their food and hospitality. We drive 30 minutes away bypassing multiple other options just for their food. We get a wide variety of food each time but absolutely love their general Tso and beef fried rice!

First time dining here and it was excellent! Tricia was so kind and her service was fantastic! Loved the Crab Rangoon, sesame and orange chicken! Vegetable fried rice was superb!!

I had lunch here with my son, and the food was delicious! The staff was very kind and attentive, and the atmosphere was great! I highly recommend the lunch buffet, and I will eat here again soon! Thank you!

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. My dad loves it and requests us take him there all the time. The egg rolls are delicious and crispy. All the dishes we have tried have all been really good, it’s hard to decide. Highly recommend!

Did take out. The desserts (sugar donuts and Almond cookies) were delicious. The food however was pretty gross. The pan noodles are dry, chewy and have an off taste.

Had the buffet there today. This was the worst tasting food I ever put in my mouth. I honestly don't know how they stay in business. Don't waste your time or money on this place. I regret my decision of going there. We left out plates full, asked for the check and went to subway.

Got the buffet for the first time, and it was pretty good. I've eaten here quite a few times and never had something bad. I can strongly recommend the Mai Tai drink, and I really like their egg fu yung

We love Golden Gate, but the other night we had our worst experience. When we got the food home, the first thing I noticed was that the containers for the orange chicken and sesame chicken were both only half full. I thought maybe they had spilled, but nothing had spilled in the bag. Then I noticed that neither container had any chicken in them! We found the chicken all separated in 2 white boxes. And it was cold! They have NEVER packaged our orders in such a way. Then we ordered 2 egg rolls. There was only one in the bag. Total disappointment this time. We tried calling the restaurant to let them know of the misgivings, and the employee didn't speak much English, so we got no where with them.

The food was good, compared to the first time I had it years ago. I remember the first time I got take out from here and never went back. But i decided its been a couple years, what the heck, and I was pleasantly surprised. My cashew chicken was delicious and so was the rangoon. The drinks were a little too sugary but overall it was a good experience this time around.

Amazing place been loving across the street on Cheviot for around 8 years and been going here since never disappoints and I just had the sweet n sour pork with the coconut shrimp appetizer and it really knocked my socks off ..so much good food in waukesha I feel blessed to live here the shrimp and chicken curry is also an excellent choice and one order can last you 3 or 4 bowls
