Fantastic park and the trails are on an old carriage road so it’s generally flat. The views are amazing. The beach is small but great. There are some large bass swimming around but generally harmless. The changing rooms are available but could be cleaner. The bathrooms are not great. The beach is clean but it is small. I recommend this place for a hike and a swim! There are lifeguards available in the designated swim area.

My wife and I’ve visited Minnewaska State Park yesterday (05/20). Its 85 miles from our home and the route is very familiar to us. Entrance fee to the park is $10/car, you can pay through card or cash or you can use your annual pass if you have one. There is a plenty of parking space so don’t have to worry a bit. Awosting Falls is 20 mins hike from the lower car parking (1.4 mile) & there is an upper car parking which is on top of the hill, you can hike up the hill it’s 2 miles to Lake Minnewaska. There is a rest room just next to the car parking, there is no way I could use it, you can’t get closer to the rest room as it smells terribly bad even about 50 feet away from it. Lake Minnewaska is very beautiful, trail to various points uphill is very gorgeous. You’ll be at the cliff along your trial at various spots. You can hike, ride your bike, horse riding (need permit). There are plenty of dining tables, it’s a heaven for family. Amazing lake view from the top. Wonderful spots for photography, timelapse etc. drone is not permitted here. You’ll definitely love it and it’s worth visiting.

Beautiful spot but overcrowded. The rest of minnewaska state park is incredible. If you can make the walk, lake awasken is more secluded.

A very great place for retreat! Theres hiking and theres a lot to explore. Sitting alone on top of the rock looking at the lake was very relaxing. There is parking and restrooms. The walk to the beach from the parking was very breif. Sunset was beautiful here! Lots of trees and their leaves have fallen for the season. Few flowers were blooming as well. If younplan to go swimming, there might be a designated place, but i only see no swimming signs. There was a big lawn with few tables right by parking lot, but there is no picnic in this area. Cooking, camp fires, open fires are not allowed. Highly recommend this place.

Beautiful beach, but has only a very small swimming area. Lifeguards were on duty, which is great when you are swimming with kids. No inflatables, no diving, no snorkeling, really perfect for a dip when coming back from hiking. One thing I didn’t like so much was all the people just standing around and not swimming, making it a little unpleasant coming out of the water.

Nice and refreshing water and awesome views of the lakeshore. Easy hike from the parking lot. Lots of wildlife too

Swimming area is way to small for the crowds

The beach was fun for my 8 year old but smaller than expected. I probably will take him back but not enough for a full day, spent only 30 min and he got bored. Next time we will bring our hiking gear and likely hike first and use this spot to cool off before we leave.

Many trails around this lake. From 1 hr to 5 hrs. Even without long walk you can still enjoy the great views over the lake which is not far from the parking lot and visitors center.
