Stumbled on this place walking around. Went and they had cool Star Wars decor and some 70s music playing and immediately knew this was for me. We got the Cuban Dog and Steve's Pub Brat. Both so good. They have 6 beers on tap including a Lemon Meringue Gose. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Parking is tricky with on street, free after 7pm.

This is now my go-to for lunch! The coolest environment I've been to in St. Louis! As I was waiting on my to-go order, I observed a gentleman attending to dine-in customers quickly and consistently! If you're looking for a fun place to go get the best hot dogs around, go here!!! They have a massive menu along with a food challenge that caught my 👁😁 Also, some co-workers who are local to the area let me know some back story about the owner. His band, the Urge, deserves all the clout!!! 👏👏 If you've gotten this far in this review... sorry.... I don't have any photos of my delishish Chicago Dog.... It was so good I couldn't put it down. Thank y'all! 👌✌️. P.S. I got a parking ticket but it was worth it. ❤️

Yasss, I FINALLY had a chance to sit down and enjoy myself for the first time as a patron instead of an ubereats delivery driver lolbvs...Even as a driver, I'm ALWAYS greeted immediately and everyone has been helpful, but today hubby & I had the pleasure of having Micah as our server/bartender(who was amazing especially with my indecisive ass😅)...First thing I noticed and LOVED abt the menu were the variety including vegetarian, but them drinks tho and the daily specials!! Like seriously, why has it taken me so long to get here(idk, it's all abt timing in my eyes) cuz I went withe the Bacon, Bacon Jerk Dog(w/o bacon🤣🤣-dnt judge me) & Micah suggested the Purple Rain🤗😋OMG....aye, look-u can't go wrong here cuz u know all the best foods are shaped li....but it was really the vibes for me! They even offer karaoke and

Update: 1 year later, still the best hot dogs in the Midwest, possibly our favorite eatery across the entire United States. They've never let us down after tens of dozens of hot dogs, bowls, and baskets of fries. The staff here always come off as our friends even if it's the first time we've met them. And the fact that Steve himself is often on location really locks down this as an eternal cult favorite. Seriously the best dog I've ever had. Many other hot dog places in St. Louis just dress up boiled boring hot dogs I could make for $0.50 at home and they are outrageously overpriced. Steve's is on a whole different level. They're hot, juicy, and smoked to another dimension. The staff is chill and the toppings are great. Prices seem pretty substantial until you take a bite and realize the price is not a concern for such an amazing meal.

It was our first visit to Steve's and it did not disappoint! It's very difficult for our family of four to find a restaurant where we all can find something to eat. I personally don't eat hotdogs, but I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options from vegan to burgers. I opted for chili mac and cheese fries, which were great! The staff go above and beyond and are so friendly. Our take out order was ready for pickup on time, the food was hot and most importantly, the order was correct. Go support a local business!

The staff here was so darn friendly and helpful. Love the art on the walls. Family friendly menu. We tried several dogs, I got the St Louis style and we shared some bacon bacon Jamaican fries. My kid finished his completely and then mentioned he could probably finish off another, he enjoyed it so much. My mixed drink was super tasty, but didn't seem to have much alcohol in it. Otherwise, no complaints and we'd love to return when we're back in town.

A St. Louis hometown favorite for specialty dogs. One of the best things about the place is their helpful, friendly staff. Sidewalk seating is great for watching the world roll by.

Now guys… I don’t eat meat so raise your eye when I step into a hot dog joint. I eat the very veggie dog and loaded fries! Oh and I go to support Steve, the owner, who is magnificent to our community. Steve’s Hot Dogs is the home of St. Louis's Official Hot Dog. This spot is legendary on South Grand! They often do collaborations with other local spots like Strange Donuts and Crown Candy Kitchen. They also have Steve’s Meltdown, another venture for grilled cheese! It’s coming to The City Foundry soon! Loved it!

I consider this a must visit place. The service is great and the food is even better. They have board games on the inside and a few Star Wars/Star Trek themed decor. They also have drink specials and comedy nights. I got the chili mac with cheese and it was so good, might go back again for more. I also got the St. Louis style dog, not bad, just has a lot of mustard. I spent about $25 dollars on a hot dog, cup of chili, soda, and cookies.

Awesome atmosphere and food. First time there and definitely won't be our last. The chili cheese fries are exactly how they should be, smothered in chili and loaded with cheese. The dogs were on point as well, the toppings and the flavors were just combined perfectly. One of the dogs ordered was vegetarian and they took the extra step to ask if we wanted the chili vegetarian for the chili fries, thought that was above and beyond. Great place, with even greater food

I’ve been wanting to try these hot dogs for ages, and not just because I love The Urge. AMAZING! I got the Gorilla Mac & Cheese dog that was pretty, ridiculous, and delicious. All of those flaves work together brilliantly. Those fries defy reality as well, as we were easily hanging out for a good 30-45 minutes and they stayed crispy and delectable the entire time. HOW. How?! Magic, presumably. I’ll accept no other answer. Service was friendly and prompt, love the look of the inside of the place, and such a great location. I can’t wait to go back and try their Hawaiian hot dog.

I loved the vegan brat I tried when I was passing through the area and have craved the flavor for months now! The staff was extremely helpful and knew exactly what vegan options and toppings they had on-hand to offer. I wish I wouldn’t have eaten at another restaurant before stopping so I could have ordered more but I was chalk full of other vegan foods from nearby. Thank you for the attentive experience and savory snack! The gentleman server was also kind enough to share information about vegan options offered at other restaurants in the same shopping district. I recommend stopping at this restaurant on the way through the area because the experience and flavors were well worth it!

Steve's is fantastic! It's a classic hot dog and burger diner set up with so many fun nerdy aesthetics. The servers are nice and inviting and the food is just awesome munchie food. The buns are fresh, the hot dogs are delicious, and the combinations of flavors are all worth trying.

I’ve been coming here since they opened a small shop on the hill a decade ago… so good! The Guerilla Mac n cheese, Backyard BBQ are classics and should not be missed! The fries are cooked to perfection!last time I was there I got the special which was a dog with bbq pulled pork, cole slaw and fried onion straws on it there may have been something else on there too not sure but holy damn it was gooood! My boyfriend for the Jamaican dog and was not disappointed! We shared a basket of fries. So. Good.

If you love hotdogs like I do this place is definitely a destination. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. If you can’t find a all beef dog with whatever extras you like something is wrong. Decent atmosphere, only downside is the parking is limited. I avoid busy times and never have a problem.

My buddy was in town for The Urge concert, and we had to stop by the next day. The dogs didn't disappoint! Cool place, great staff, and very good food; we will be back.

Neat place to grab a hot dog. The selection of specialty hot dogs is pretty extensive. I really liked the mac and cheese hot dog. The table service was fast and good. I am kind if tempted to try the flight of hot dogs they offer

This restaurant is very small but the food packs a big tasty punch!!! Nick gives you the run down of the menu and specials and keeps things moving along with co-worker, John. We had sausages and they were delicious. Restaurant is tucked away in the quaint little neighborhood of Towers Groves East, just a few buildings down from a fire and police station. Visited from out of town, however, when I visit again, I know where l’m headed.

Me and my fiance ate here for the 1st time on a Saturday for lunch. It was busy but not crowded. Idk why it took us so long to eat here, but now that we have, we will be back. The energy of the staff is very positive and friendly. Steve, the owner, has the most welcoming smile and greeted us personally. He took the time to speak with us for a few minutes. The atmosphere is hip without feeling forced or overly hipster. Ok, so now for the food. The dogs have a very good smokey flavor, and the bun is the perfect size and length for a specialty dog. I ordered the chili dog with crispy onions. It was good. I would've preferred just a little more chili and cheese, but that's my preference. The fries are seasoned with season salt and were a little too seasoned (something I rarely say)but cooked crispy just the way I like. The cheese sauce we ordered for the fries was perfection. I dont even care for cheese sauce, but this was melty and tasted like real cheese. They have karaoke and comedy on certain nights of the week. I'd like to check that out someday. Overall, a great little spot that I was happy to leave a 5 star review for.

Please pull up! Steve is awesome. Chicago spicy was one short of a A+. Just needed the seeds on the bun. But that's neither here nor Chi town. You won't be disappointed.

First the decor is fabulous with old 50's table and chairs, along with the food coming in the ole plastic baskets. Love going back in time to such happy memories. Innovative grilled hot dogs, so many choices. The chili dog, always my favorite was so good, not to many places have such a scumptous grilled hot dog with the right amount of chili if you want to pick it up. The Cheeseburger Hot Dog is to die for, oh my God it was the best hot dog I ever had, big thumbs up and yummiest gotta have again soon. The Mac & cheese side was so creamy & delicious makes a big difference when it's made from scratch. The staff is so friendly and attentive to your every needs. For those not familiar with Steve's Hot Dogs, he is the lead singer for The Urge and so many other music bands in St.Louis. Signature drinks are a hoot along with being flavor busters for sure, gotta try one while your there, then dessert never forget dessert. Look at all the creative t-shirts too boot. Shout Out to Steve-O and continued success Darlin along with a Shout Out to Maddy our waitress, great job!

Friendly staff at establishment and they had a variety of hot dogs I chose the Chicago dog with some spice on it which was actually some jalapeno peppers and some other spicy peppers that they added onto the hot dog. However for me the hot dog was good it was a bit too salty I did add some fries to my order and they were really salty I think that they used the celery stall be nice if they could have used a pink Himalayan crush salt and the other thing that I didn't like was the place had a lot of flies in it which I don't like places that have flies flying around because to me it is unclean and although that was not the case but I just don't like flies flying around my food and around me but if you get the opportunity go check out this place like again the staff are friendly and the food was decent My kids enjoyed their hot dogs that they chose but for me it was okay.

Steve's is really bringing everything to the table in what you would expect from an amazing and classic hotdog joint. Kicking things up a notch with all of the fantastic music set pieces thanks to Steve and The Urge is just the icing on the cake. Could not recommend it enough.

Nice place to cool off and have a good drink and a great hot dog. We had the Gorilla Mac n Cheese dog which was great! The fries were the krispiest crinkle cut fries I've ever had with just a touch of seasoning on it. We are from out of town and locals suggested this place. Definitely a winner for us.

Great experience and we had a wonderful time with the Saint Louis Bourbon Society and their Hot Dog and Bourbon pairing. Great fun and the evening was topped off by a private concert with Steve Ewing. It was an AWESOME time!!
