I use to love coming here and was super excited for opening day. Then I actually saw what happened to the place. It no longer feels festive or even fun. It looks like at most they spent 1 day haphazardly getting stuff “ready” for opening. Looks like they walked through the 1/2 inch of ice and it appears some skate blades made it to the concrete. It is a shame. I guess the new management is actually new to ice rink management. Hopefully they get better

A Saint Louis staple! It was such a beautiful day, felt like Spring, perfect day to enjoy a little ice skating with some friends. Location in Forest Park is great! You can quickly get to the Central West End, The Loop, DeMun, to grab a hot drink or some food before after. The fire pit is the best!

Went last night on 12/28/20. The WORST service possible anywhere I have ever been. The owner of the ice rink is the rudest man I have ever met, but his employees minus 1 or 2 of them aren’t any better. One of the employees who was counting people entering and leaving (to ensure they didn’t reach max capacity) confronted me in the rudest possible way when I asked out loud why 30 people left and nobody was allowed to enter. I will never come back here and recommend that nobody else does ether. Waste of money and a even bigger waste of time.

It is extremely unfortunate that the property management company that takes care of Steinberg has decided to charge for its usage outside of the winter season. There are great costs associated with operating an ice rink and they are justifide in charging admission for ice skating, however the roller skating rink ran last year without issue and no charge for admission. It seems that the admission charge will likely just cover the cost of having someone there to take tickets and this system is just being used as a tool to selectively choose who uses the rink. Remember this is inside of the city park which has numerous amenities that you can use free of charge through your taxpayer dollar. Though I'm sure this property management company rents out the rink this seems to be a cash grab and I pray that it fails.

Terrifying experience as I have never ice skated but was willing to try something new with my family. Would recommend to anyone wanting to try something new. We came on Christmas night and it was awesome. All the lines were very long. We didn’t even attempt concessions.

The skating was great. Loved the fire pit area! I am rating 4 stars because some of the ice skates there need new laces. But if you bring your own you won't have to consider that, so take this review here with a grain of salt. Also the wall lockers are a little confusing to work at first, might just be me being me as no one else seemed to have any issue. Overall you'll have hours of fun here.

New ownership is absolutely terrible. They decided they wanted to profit in the off season on their slab of concrete. Was told it would be cleared of debris and water and maintained. They sold season passes over the summer promising longer hours and that the “summer season” was until October. Then they reduced their hours to 3 days a week and closed the season early. They did nothing to “maintain” concrete was full of holes and debris always, they didn’t even attempt to clear water. But they were sure to throw in a “no refunds” clause when buying. I had a friend buy as recently as late July right before they reduced their hours and she didn’t even get a chance to use it. I’ve emailed them more than once and never gotten a reply, like a little acknowledgment at least would have been nice. I will never give them my money again. Their greed ruined a good thing.

Terrible, the worker was a complete jerk. He was so smart with us we left and did not even skate, I do not recommend this place at all. He should not work there and does not deserve the job, we were willing to pay the overly priced expenses ives . Very bad experience and do not recommend it.

Very confusing. Came to do bumper cars on ice. As someone who hasn't been here in years I couldn't remember the procedure. I purchased tickets online. There were 2 LONG lines. Bypassed the line to ask about what we needed to do when we had scheduled time & purchased tix online. They gave us blue wristbands. Then we went outside & did bumper cars. That was a blast. Then some of the kids wanted to ice skate. Wasn't sure what we needed to do, figured we needed to wait in line so we waited for 20-30 minutes. Bought wrist bands thinking they were different for skating. THEY WERE BLUE! WTHeck? So then they tell us we have to stand in the other LONG line for skates. Waited another 30 minutes to get skates. Kids skated 15 minutes. They need signs and more staff to help out. It was crazy and we totally spent more money than we needed to.

A bit pricey, but big fun was had. I visit this place at least once a year and it never gets old. Great atmosphere. You can warm up inside while drinking hot chocolate. They also have food for purchase.

My first impression is that the establishment is overly focused on finding ways to milk money from patrons rather than provide basic conveniences that improve the experience such as offering digital payment options or offer hot beverages to people waiting in line. It was an hour long wait to skate and they made everyone get off the ice every 45 minutes to run the Zamboni. The shoe rental workers are very friendly and fast working. The laces on the rentals are dangerously long. The fire pit was nice. Guy in the concession booth could not give fewer sh!ts. The music was only something a 70 year old white lady might, like even though the patrons were a mix of parents and teens. Shows a lack of empathy on the part of the owner that should be corrected, but probably won't as long as they have little to no competition. Despite this we had fun bringing our 3 year old to skate, but will probably try out another rink before coming back.

Ice bumper cars and ice skating with my husband and son for the first time! Minus the staff who wouldn’t allow the small kids to use a cone to steady themselves, my little had fun anyways.

This used to bea great place to skate but now they're turning it over to a private company that will charge you $8 to skate plus $4 to rent skate apparently even if you don't need them. Oh but you can get a season pass for $400. All in a park that's supposed to be free. No thanks I'll just stay in the park for free.

Started my hockey career here. It helped so many get off the streets and into a disciplined sport that improved who we were and we going to be in life. That truly is tax dollars at work the right way by changing lives for the better.

The best time to go skating is when the temp is in sixties like today. The ice is perfect and the rink is empty.

Great stl staple. I took my 7 year old today and we needed one rental and one add on. They charged me at the drop off desk for all these extras and then claimed religiously it couldn’t simply be refunded. We skated almost 2 hours, I asked them to get it sorted in between, and I told them to just do whatever. Staff were not trying to make it better. Very dismissive. Manager said it could easily be refunded. Gave my card. Couldn’t do refund. Even though I tried to be super kind after the fact and said it’s fine if you can’t refund my card but I’ll take the free skate. The two free skates they gave don’t add up to the overcharge. I’ll be back regardless but customer service isn’t the sharpest.

Complete waste of $75 for 4 people today, including the "convenience" fee for tickets purchased online. The ice was choppy and the available skates didn't fit. Laces broken etc. We love Forest Park and were really looking forward to a fun afternoon of skating on a gorgeous Thanksgiving Day. That's two hours we won't get back.

It's the only ice skating field in St. Louis. Situated in the forest park near Washington University medical campus. Admission fee is $10 for an adult and pay extra $5 if you want to borrow ice skating boot. The field is not too big and sometimes a bit crowded. But as it is the only one of it's kind in St. Louis, it's still worth visiting.

Fun place to take the kids and adults even enjoy it! We went on a Sat afternoon so it wasn't packed and there was decent parking. The concession stand serves food, drinks, and alcohol. Prices are a bit high but the skating is still fun.

This place is obviously an institution in stl... I went last night and the wait wasn’t terribly long to get in, 40 mins or so. The skating was fun and it’s almost better than pre pandemic with fewer ppl on the ice. However, while most people wore masks, hardly anyone was respecting distance, especially on the ice. It feels dangerous because the air is cold and dense over the rink. I wish they would enforce distancing in line and limit capacity even further. Require reservations— duh. It’s not possible to distance effectively here right now. We’re in for a huge surge after the holidays.

It's a nice place to be when it's a little warmer but when it's $18 a person and only 2 degrees why be open? Now they are just milking money out of people. I feel bad for their employees who have to be there. I definitely won't be coming back anytime soon.

Finn's family and I had just finished praying by the water for GOD to give us a MIRACLE by healing precious 3yr old Finn's brain. As I was walking by the ice skating rink the song Don't Stop Believing started to play❣❣ If you're reading this please pray for GOD to perform a MIRACLE and heal Finn's brain so he can remain on earth. Ask everyone you know to pray. Thank you❣❣

I love Steinberg. I've been coming here with my family for a few years. Fair prices great staff and good experiences. Recently got to experience the new roller skate rink. They have fabulous skates there. Excited to have more experiences there soon. Enjoy!

Great ice skating atmosphere, the Zamboni could come out a little bit more often. The ice can get really tough. Our boys loved it, can’t wait to do this again soon. The wait time is not long at all, very organized.

Bumper cars spot was so tiny and half of the cars didn't work. I purchased tickets online but when I got there someone also had a time slot 5 min before ours when you are supposed to be able to do it for 15 full minutes. We were not able to get any refund. Would recommend for toddlers only. Pictures are misleading a waste of my money. An will never go back!!

Good old school feel rink with outdoor bon fire. If you get cold, head inside for some snacks and food. The skate rentals are pretty aged, so if you have your own, recommend bringing. Otherwise, makes for a good outing!

I have loved coming to this place since I was a kid, however when it gets too warm the water puddles up right when you walk in to the rink. Other than that it’s a great time! Food and drinks are a little pricey, but good quality food, and middle to top shelf drinks!

I was a spectator. It was very satisfying watching people ice-skating. I don't know how to ice-skate, I've never even tried. I'm at the age now to where, watching others give me joy.

Went on a weekday at opening time, and almost had the place to ourselves! Our youngest child needed an aid to push while he skated, and I couldn’t believe it cost $15 to rent! Zamboni never ran during our 1hr and 45minute stay. Hard to find such a large outdoor skating rink like it - a great place, with great atmosphere!

Great rink. Perfect for first-timers and pros alike. It seems like they clear the ice to resurface it every 30 minutes or so, so it always feels fresh. The food prices are really incredible, too. A dollar for a pretzel? I'm in! The only problem was that a side of cheese costs more than the pretzel itself at $1.50. Otherwise for $18 (including skates) you can't go wrong.

My husband and I went skating on Christmas morning. It was so much fun to see so many families out there having a great time. One thing I wish they would have done was suggest skate sizes - I’m a 7 and my skates felt so big, I had to go and request a smaller skate (the 6 was MUCH better). I had never I’ve skated outdoors before and it was such a neat experience!

Went during the week in the evening. Wasn't too crowded. Follow mask mandates and has plexiglass for check in, skate rentals, and even food. Was happy to have this outdoor fun for our little one and happy staff ensured everyone keep their mask on even on the ice.

We went on a weekend. I would recommend this place from the bottom of my heart. It was well maintained with washroom facility too. They provide the skating shoes for rentals too. They have a cafeteria too.

  • 5/5 William H. 3 years ago on Google
The line was a little long (expected from previous reviews). Staff was great at getting people checked in and skate rental check out/in was simple. Having an outdoor skating rink so close is great.

  • 4/5 Erin A. 3 years ago on Google
If you go on a weekend, go early, because they have capacity limits! It is cash only. It is always a good time but a little pricey, so I would plan to stay 2 hours. They have over 30 kinds of beer and good snacks too!!

  • 2/5 Duane G. 3 years ago on Google
Rough ice but still a good place to spend a few hours skating. Update: had a chance to visit this place again and i was not able to recognize it, a disappointment. Rude employees (bad customer service), the facility was closed for the general public so all business where carried outside. No heated area whatsoever, you were forced to walk on a wet and snowy floor without shoes. Not worthy of money

Complete asinine that you have to pay to get in and watch your kid skate!

  • 1/5 Larry C. 3 years ago on Google
Been coming to steinberg for years and this year I had the worst customer service ever. The gentleman at the counter rushed us to pay because there were maybe 6 people behind me, the skate guards were arguing with a group of people, I think what might have been the manager calmed the situation, people weren't properly wearing a mask and social distancing, I should call the health department and have them shut down.
