Great ambience, friendly and attentive staff. We had coconut fish(bone in) and rice and pork chops and mashed potatoes. The portions were a bit small, but the food was delicious! Especially the fish!

Finally got around to visiting this well-known seafood restaurant in Nairobi. The waiting staff are very good and attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The layout is unusual but pleasant and the ambience is nice. A good place to spend with friends or a date. I got the kabai fish (grouper) and it was pretty good and came with a pleasant creamy sauce and plenty of vegetables, along with a side dish of rice. Well worth visiting if you fancy some seafood done stylishly.

To begin with, the place itself is soothing, music is soothing, ambiance is lovely. I absolutely love everything about this place. Food is great, they offer seafood platters on their menu for more than 2 persons. Personnel is welcoming and very much caring they're always a call away. Now I personally admire the fact that they have 100% biodegradable napkins which is eco-responsible and it's one step towards sustainability. I'd highly recommend giving this restaurant a try...you'll love it.

Despite realising that I am not a fan of seafood, I loved the experience at this restaurant. The live band was superb. The service was impeccable. The staff makes you feel special and at home. Their menu is affordable and their playing unique. I loved that they served our meals in mini boats. It looked great. I loved the scenery as well. Again, the service was impeccable. I highly recommend and I believe that I'll visit the place again. It's also really good for solo dates.

What this restaurant has to offer is beyond amazing. Whenever I am at Mawimbi Seafood, I never get disappointed cause of what they have to offer. Surprisingly, they have vegetarian and non-sea options as well. I had the Atlantis Salad that comes with a mix of avocado and greens. I also had a delicious dish which had roasted queen prawns, octopus and calamari, fresh green leaves, avocado, red onions and tomatoes. What a perfect symphony of healthy flavour foods. P. S: I came back here for dinner and I had Tempura fried lobster chunks and skinny fries with pickles, quite delicious.

It is an amazing place to stay and really enjoy the evening in Nairobi. First of all I appreciated great service, we had no reservation, but personnel found a place for us and made our time enjoyable. Food were just amazing, drinks as well, you can ask to bring a sample or a bottle to show and select. Live music was so great, it was a really nice evening. What a stunning place! We had the seafood festival on Sunday, and we were all blown away. A big thanks to Angelo and Maria for taking care of our table, we felt like VIPs! The seafood is fresh, delicious and abundant. The sushi with plantain was a completely new experience, and we loved it. We ended the meal with a yummy affogato. Went during Pizza Fest 2019 and the pizzas were just heavenly!! I love the ambience, very nice for a date. The service was a bit slow but they had a lot of orders and we didn't mind. The staff were very friendly. Now, these Pizzas should be the talk of town because the quality in flavor and the fresh ingredients, everything was DELICIOUS 😋!! We had: Spicy Lamb Sausage Beef Carpaccio & Memphis Chicken, the key to my heart and tummy. That homemade BBQ sauce they use makes the whole thing, please try this if you love meat/chicken. They were not cheap on the toppings as well. This long comment should tell you how good those pizzas were. 😋😋

Been there once on a weekday & once on a Sunday. WHAT I LOVED: *Exceptional customer service *Super clean and fresh washrooms *Interior decor and lighting is so beautiful especially at night *Poolside seating arrangement is good *Awesome cocktails *The floating ducks in the pool are very memorable *The food has good flavor. *Cake was also very light, decadent and fresh. WHAT I HATED: *That mashed potato looks like baby food. Has the texture of baby food. A baby would love that, not me. Hated it. *On the Sunday I was there, the food took FOREVER to come out. *And when it did eventually come out, it was so beautifully presented BUT IT WAS COLD. The steak, the pork ribs, the fish.... all cold. The only hot thing was the mashed potato.

But I highly recommend going there just for the seafood. The service is attentive and polite even when we had a shift change the standard remained the same. Be warned though drinks tend to run a bit on the higher side so a beer is about 500 KSH and Cocktails from about 1200 KSH. But the food is definitely worth it!

The service is excellent and their attention to guests make it perfect for fine dining. The location is excellent and not far from any part of the city. There was a great live band (a tad too loud for fine dining). The oysters are great. The only thing that was a miss for me is the dessert...still needs to be perfected! Crepes suzette a tad chewy and the chocolate cake a tad dry. But as I said, the service makes us for this miss in the desserts.

Great ambiance, nice decor with attention to detail but not overdone. On each table, they had a nice live plant with some red leaves on it. Looked too good to be true. (Google lens says its called poinsettia). The artwork on the walls is quite something - striking and beautiful. Various options for sitting space both inside and by the pool outside, for a pair or more or even a group. It's a great environment to dine and chat in. The food is good, service okay. Excellent facilities. Was there for breakfast and when not busy, so I think you'd have to do on-street parking at a busier time. (I saw only a few parking slots in the building). I will be going there again.

The location is different as most restaurants nowadays are out of the city centre but they've done a good job! The service is excellent and attentive and they give you enough time to chat and look over the menu before you order. Our waiter Aswan was excellent. Food is delicious with good portions and even though its a seafood restaurant they have other options such as vegetarian , beef, pork or chicken to satisfy other palates. All round a good experience and i would highly recommend. Prices are also fair especially for drinks

What a sublime Valentine's Day lunch we had at Mawimbi. The ambience and decor were beautiful 💕 We had the lobster (grilled over fire) which was succulent and delicious. My kids said the sushi was the best they'd had. We also had the chicken wings which were deliciously sticky. Milkshakes were yum. Bridget served us- she was phenomenal. Our table was cleared as soon as we'd be done with a glass or plate- great service. Manager Joel was great and ensured we had a great Mawimbi experience.

The Caribbean Seafood Mix is quite nice, but mine was over salted. Their garlic prawns and calamari are just ordinary. The only thing off the charts (for Nairobi) are the prices.

This restaurant is overrated! It gives an impression that it’s high end seafood place but the food quality is very low. The prices are not adequate for the food quality!!! There is lots of waiters wandering around but you have to wait almost an hour for the food even the one from kids menu! The restaurant was not even so busy so no excuse. I ordered prawns and calamari- prawns tasteless and just oily, calamari not properly cooked. Some undercooked and dipped in some sort of floury awful tempura like which was horrible and gives aftertastes of old oil! That costs 2700 which is ridiculous! It’s very sad experience and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like to eat some nice seafood.

Couldn't get enough of the grilled prawns and lobster, and when the sushi came it was too delicious not to make space for too. Liked: that the straws were not plastic and were wide enough to drink milkshake through (I think they were a thin pasta); they had live music; food was obviously good; the place has some of the most photorealistic art of African culture. This place is an absolute vibe. My family and I (ages 12 to 75) visited on a Sunday and enjoyed the Seafood Sunday brunch menu, and everything we ordered was delicious. We will definitely visit again when traveling in Nairobi. We loved the atmosphere, food, drinks, and music.

This was my first visit. I found the environment to be soothing and pleasant. The presentations were good, although the food was average, the buffet was below average. Tomato Bisque was served cold, and had bacon in it, but it was not disclosed to me, although I was sure about it being there. The person serving was proven wrong by the chef. The Sea food platter was better than I expected, although it took 40 minutes to prepare. The Oysters in the serving could hardly be seen. The Ceviche was a mockery. Overall a pleasant experience, but highly over priced. May go back for the Sea food platter but not otherwise.

This is a seafood restaurant in the heart of Nairobi. It has a beautiful ambiance with an opportunity to drink and dine by the pool. The lighting in the restaurant is fabulous. I found the staff to be very friendly. I would have easily given them a 5* but everything here needs one to have a deep pocket, for exam all beers are 500/= while a bottle of whiskey starts from 6000.

The red snapper ordered was dry and the flavour was off. The starch portion of plantain was too small (not even child portions) for the cost of the meal. Was not satisfied with the food and I feel like it was not worth the money spent on food and wine.

Can I just say that me and my dinner party had the time of.our.lives?? The customer service was top notch, even though I had a small snag in the reservation table they gave us. They put us in a better place, as the birthday girl was there for the live band- which was AMAZING to say the least. Amazing! The food was incredible too! I found it not crazily expensive and on the affordable side of life. So tasty and such incredible variety. And don’t get me started on their cute room of gorgeous African art!! Loved their rainbow sushi! In general loved everything. I didn’t know that swimming is also free by the way if you are just sitting by the poolside. I now know what next I’ll do on a lazy afternoon. In general I loved this place. It’s fine dining but feels like a place that could be homely. I don’t know if that makes sense- they have brought together the essence of class and African hospitality in one place- and that being our royalty, it is befitting. I will be back!!

You think thats all…he gave us the menu but believe you me i did not use it!He had product knowledge on his finger tips and upselling skills,trust me i ended up taking his recommendation!! All in all food came and hygiene and taste was top knotch!!Thank you Maurice for the wonderful first time experience in my adventure!!

I booked for sitting a week before my visit, the lady on the phone was courteous and helpful with information. I found out if I brought my cake there would be a corkage of 2,000ksh. She insisted that their pastry would make a really good cake to my specifications, thankfully this was well fulfilled. However, to book a table I needed to put down a deposit of 10,000ksh which is refundable but left me uneasy. Upon arriving there and spending over 5 hours there, I realized that wasn't even necessary as they weren't even fully booked. We arrive and expect to be shown our seats, the hostess was rude and snapped at me to wait, I didn't react because there was no way she was going to ruin my day. we get seated in a cabana and our waiter Maurice, was on it. His service was impeccable, I needed help with putting ballons up and Bridget was also of great help. We had attentive service from Maurice all evening. We ordered drinks and food and no mistake was made. We ordered lots of food, our favorites being the Tropical Prawn and Mango Salad, The fish Carpaccio, and the grilled prawns. The Posideon Platter was nice but the oysters were subpar, not at all tasty and they were very tiny. The lobster and prawns were well cooked and seasoned, the fish was very dry and the octopus was a little bland. The creamed spinach seemed a little over-salted but I guess it's because they added Oyster sauce Besides that the service at the table we received was amazing and attentive.

This was my first proper sea food experience and now I say I'm a seafood fan. The waiter was really kind and recommended the best dishes to start of our experience. The service was great they made sure we we're comfortable. The vibes we're perfect too,the music & ambience:superb. Great place for a date night. Will definitely be back.

This is a really good restaurant. Service is excellent, food and drinks are delicious. Absolutely worth the money. They had freshly made Dim Sum, really really good. Caribbean stew was also excellent. Everything was perfect!

"Fine Dining" seafood restaurant - Overpriced and severely overrated! Disappointing experience Pros: friendly staff, chocolate fondant was superb Cons: 1. Way overpriced for what it is (its most definitely not fine dining; its actually casual dining, especially since there was a live band) 2. Food was slow to arrive and subsequently not hot, especially the zucchini fritters 3. Food quality wasn't anything special, especially considering the price (e.g. 2500 for pretty ordinary fish and chips) 4. Live band was good but too loud

For Fridays it is recommended to reserve a table. The booking was easy on phone and they are responsive on WhatsApp as well. Great ambiance thanks to the band playing cover songs. The dining experience was pretty good, a platter of squid, calamari, King fish. Prawns and lobster will set you back 7k. They have a wonderful house chili and other dressing. Local beers at 500/:. The staff were prompt and eager to assist. The full experience all round was excellent.

The restaurant is beautiful and good for a romantic date/ a relaxing day after work.I'd recommend that you reserve a table especially when there's a live performance as they get fully booked

Delicious food and cocktails, wonderful service, and amazing music and artwork. Highly recommend.
