A place that you must visit when you come to Egypt, but be prepared. It is a popular tourist destination and bus loads of tourists are constantly arriving, resulting in long lines at each tomb entrance. Expect to wait 20 to 30 minutes to enter, 15 or 20 minutes (often standing in the hot sun) to enter each tomb that you want to see, and about 20 minutes or more to tag along in line behind everyone else to walk through the tombs. It is also very hot inside some of the tombs. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and take plenty of water with you. Consider wearing a hat or carrying a small umbrella. Guides are not allowed inside the tombs, but if you hire a guide it is very helpful as they can explain each tomb and its inhabitants very well for you. Also, (very important!) if you want to see the tomb of King Tut, access is very limited so buy your tickets in advance. Plan on at least 4 hours here or more to see as much as possible. There are restrooms available and a small store/cafe where you can buy snacks, water, or other drinks.

The Great Of Egypt. You're in Luxor? Do not miss this. Thousands of years are before us and this is wonderful! Some of the Temples are unbelievably well preserved. Worth every second. You won't regret it. It is useful for all people to see this.

This is mind blowing! 4500 years ago the Egyptian made these tombs deep into the mountains in honour of the kings and Queens. 4500 years later they are still intact and the writing and pictures to honour them are just amazing!

Goes without saying that you must visit if staying in Luxor. The tombs are incredible to see in person. Each tomb requires quite a few steep steps to navigate with varying depths. The colors are rich with fine details throughout. While Tuts tomb is popular, it was the least impressive of those I saw. An incredible experience overall.

Some king tombs are very deep, some have very steep slopes. It is very stuffy and hot inside, plus very dusty. You have to buy an extra ticket to enter King Tut's tomb. Don't forget to wear a mask and take plenty of water and an umbrella with you.

Impressive place! One ticket gives you access to visit three tombs of your choice. Except for the tomb of Tut Ankh Amun. With this one you need a different ticket. It is like a sauna being inside the tombs and it can get busy especially when people stop too long while taking pictures so be prepared!

Great place If you there alone just be aware of guard scams if they lead you into a small chamber or off the track to take some pictures don't do it THEY WILL ask for money after it because you are not supposed to take pictures inside of the Tomb's or walk off the track if you in a group they will not try it but if you alone without a guide they will trust me just be aware of that and everything will be awesome

Tombs are beautiful. More can be done to preserve them well. Though, the management around the whole archaeological site is terrible. Everyone is begging for some tip from you, from the guy behind the ticket counter to security guards at individual tombs, it's ruins the whole experience. Also, be prepared to pay ridiculous prices at the only cafe inside the site area, carry your own suppliers otherwise.

The valley stands on the west bank of the Nile, opposite Thebes (modern Luxor), within the heart of the Theban Necropolis.[5] The wadi consists of two valleys: the East Valley (where the majority of the royal tombs are situated) and the West Valley (Valley of the Monkeys).[6][7] With the 2005 discovery of a new chamber and the 2008 discovery of two further tomb entrances,[8] the valley is known to contain 63 tombs and chambers (ranging in size from KV54, a simple pit, to KV5, a complex tomb with over 120 chambers).[9] It was the principal burial place of the major royal figures of the Egyptian New Kingdom, as well as a number of privileged nobles. The royal tombs are decorated with scenes from Egyptian mythology and give clues as to the beliefs and funerary practices of the period. Almost all of the tombs seem to have been opened and robbed in antiquity, but they still give an idea of the opulence and power of the pharaohs. This area has been a focus of archaeological and Egyptological exploration since the end of the eighteenth century, and its tombs and burials continue to stimulate research and interest. Since the 1920s, the valley has been famous for the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun,[10] and is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. In 1979, it became a World Heritage Site, along with the rest of the Theban Necropolis.[11] Exploration, excavation and conservation continues in the valley, and a new tourist centre has recently been opened.

The tombs are magnificent, you should not only go in and shoot pictures, but also enjoy the magnificent environment, the magic from the stories told about the afterlife. Many symbols found remains in actual religions. You should carefully watch the scenes, the 12 hours of the night, the wonderful art they created.

This place is incredible with so many tombs. The history this place has its unbelievable. We just saw three and thank goodness for the guide that was able to explain so many things and arranged for entry. .

So much to see. Incredible to visit these tombs! Our ticket included 3 tombs of our choice to visit. I recommend doing research on your desired tombs! - as it will be tiring going down into the tombs when it is always hot, and the air is not circulated well. They rotate available tombs, so be prepared with your preferred list of tombs with a few back-ups based on availability. Amazing for certain; bring an extra water!

An absolute must when in Luxor. If you have time just for 2 tombs I would recommend the King Rameses I (KV 16) and King Rameses III (KV11)

You hear stories of this place. Tombs everywhere. Treasure galore. Painted wall. Never ending history. It all sounds very magical in theory. And it is. This is an incredible walk through so many fascinating stories. I cannot recommend this enough. And don’t forget the nearby Valley of the Queens which has some even more spectacular wall art.

A truly amazing place!!, We visited Rameses I,III, IX, and of course, the boy King's tomb where we stood 3ft from Tut himself. The landscape is awesome, and the detail still visible in some of the tombs is ... just WOW!!, and when we visited you could take photo / video

Impressive site but guides cannot enter the tombs with you. So if you are not aware of Egypt history and tomb rituals don’t have too high expectations. Make sure you arrive early because we had a huge queue (waiting time 45 minutes). Make sure you select a qualified guide (many are just learning something by heart and are not qualified at all).

Tombs and paintings were beautiful. Recommend going as early as possible to avoid a lot of tourists and the heat. Had some serious issues with tomb workers and the bazaar at the exit. Shop owners are aggressive and try to tack on prices left and right. If you go, put your head down and walk as fast as possible out the exit. Do not let the tomb workers take your phone or veer your from what you’re doing.

Amazing to see! The detail and work that has gone into this is incredible! The fact that it has been so well preserved is amazing. Honestly nothing like I have ever seen. So worth it. Really hot and stuffy down there but so so worth it. Definitely a good idea to wear suitable shoes! Ones that grip as it's easy to slip. It's all so amazing to see. Highly recommend going here!!

Incredibly interesting and a must see! We paid extra to go in to Tutankhamen’s tomb. You have to be quite fit and able to go down in to the tombs, it’s a lot of steps and quite warm. Definitely pay the extra 20 Egyptian pounds to take the buggy and save the massive walk.

Magnificent this place is. I always loved the history of Egypt and visit to this place was a dream come true. I enjoyed every bit Exploring different tombs. There is an additional charge like 400 LE for king Tut’s tomb and only limited people can access it due to preservation of the tomb. Tut’s mummy is still in there though. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Egypt. Try to use the flights rather than travelling by road. Its not that expensive (like £50 one way flight appx) but well worth it as it’ll save you the time and hassle.

We have been to King Tut tomb and saw the mummy it’s dark skin they had to burn to take the golden mask off, King Snefro as well; colors are amazing still in good condition good, atmosphere surrounding you in mystery and magnificent atmosphere, makes your brain wondering what was going over there that time! Very highly recommended; I would call it valley of secrets and wonders.

The workers harassed us trying to talk to us and show us stuff for tips and it was hard to see the actual tombs because of it. Absolutely stunning color and rich history. Our guide was amazing in explaining the tombs outside.

Amazing place where you can access to several tombs. There are 3 of them that you need to pay an extra fee (Seti I is the best). It is better to go the sooner the better to avoid long queues to buy the tickets, or to access to the tombs to avoid crowds. Absolutely amazing!

Amazing place to visit .You may opt for a shuttle car from the ticket counter to the place .It is better to take guide as you can't visit all tombs .Tombs are selected randomly each day for visit .It is worth to see the tomb of Ramsay's II ,to enter in this tomb extra but still it is worth as no belongings are remains in the Tutankhamen's tomb.Extra ticket also required for Tutankhamen's tomb.Student can get 50%discount by showing their ID cards in all tickets throughout Egypt.

Beautiful and breath-taking, we had a lovely tour guide with us, we went early June and it was 45 degrees! Very hot. They also have carts to take you to and from the Valley of the Kings so you can avoid the heat a little more. If the driver lets you steer, he will try and ask you for money so be careful. There are people in the tombs trying to get money from you which was unfortunate, but they were not pushy at all and easy to ignore. Remember, don't give your phone to anyone when visiting here!

The Valley of the Kings is an awe-inspiring ancient Egyptian burial site near Luxor. Exploring the tombs of pharaohs like Tutankhamun gives you a fascinating glimpse into their rich history and culture. The intricate hieroglyphics and well-preserved artifacts make it a must-visit for anyone curious about Egypt's past. The impressive architecture and the feeling of stepping back in time create a truly memorable experience for visitors.

This is an amazing location if you visit Egypt. Out of the 62 found tombs only 13 are open for visit. The regular ticket allows the entrance to 3 of these but some tombs require an additional ticket (quite expensive). You should arrive there with a little knowledge of ancient Egypt and hieroglyphics to better appreciate. I had a great guide and that improved the overall experience in the country.

Wow, this place is massive. You need all day to get around every tomb. If you go in Rameses lll, be prepared for a lot if steps down and then back up. The tombs are impressive, especially Tutankhamen, who is still laid there protected with glass.

Plenty of different tombs to check out, some deeper than others and some with prettier hieroglyphs than others but all interesting to witness. Worth going to at least 2 or 3.

A place probably known to everyone who was even a little interested in history. It's nice to be there, although it's not as spectacular on the outside as the temples of the queens. Several tombs are available to visit in the ticket price. For the more famous ones you have to pay extra. I was there in December and the weather was beautiful for sightseeing. It must be hell there during the summer months because there is no place to hide from the sun.

Spectacular location, the mountains are incredible and of course, the tombs are incredible and it's a truly amazing feat of ancient engineering and art to see!! See them all, some are quite steep so the climb back up can be a challenge but worth it! Pay extra for Ramses and Seti!

Valley of kings is truly amazing. It can get a little busy in some tombs but also can’t find some with no people. I paid for two extras. One was king Tut. It’s cool but don’t think it’s worth the price. However, the extra Ramsey tombs are well worth it!

We had a fantastic experience visiting here but it appears prices have gone up 100% since last year. The price is now 600 egp each and have to pay with a bank card. They no longer accept real money and this is the case for all tourist attractions

What can one say? It's one of the most astounding things I've ever seen. I recommend buying 2 entry tickets that let you see 3 tombs per ticket (about USD$10, Nov2023). I saw 3 and wished I could have gone down into more. Several tombs are not on this ticket - Tutenkamen, about $10, and two others for about $4 and $35. That's up to you if you want to be that enthusiastic! But totally, totally worth visiting.

The many tombs of kings. Over 60 (most not open to the public or only open certain times of the year) Some of the most well preserved tombs, still coloured, and even some entrances not yet found.

  • 5/5 Mick F. 5 months ago on Google
Something that you have to see to believe, the entrance to the tombs can be very steep and stifling hot once inside so wear light clothes and plenty of water , also make sure you are fit enough to undertake- be careful of the hawkers on your way back to the entrance to the park

Amazing to see how they have done 4000 years ago. For $12 you can visit 3 tombs but special tombs cost extra. My top tombs 1. SETI I it cost $30 bugs extra but totally worth it and you can skip rest. The amount of work is 10x better to others so why not spend when you came all way down here 😀 2. Ramses V and VI it cost $5 but again worth it 3. Ramses IV and XI are part of general ticket and very good

There are 46 tombs in this area, with your ticket you get access to 3 of them of your choice, if you want to visit more you need to get multiple tickets. The 3 that I visited were the ones that were close to the entrance. Not so easy to get down and up because of the geat and the crowd. In some of them you need to wait in a queue to be able to get in. Bring a lot of water and some patience with you. It will worth ;)

No words can describe what u ll see its the glorious on the earth and if you are in luxor you must go there. The tomb of King Tut is the most famous one there but its not the best one as its small comparing with the others Ramses 1 and 5 are very good with colorful walls and drawing Generally you will enjoy specially if you like the incient egyptians civilization.

The great Burial place of the many Pharaohs but obviously King Tut is the most famous of them all. Imagine finding one of those Sarcophagi in the sand while the face of the tomb is creepy for sure I'm sure for anyone it would be a wonderful experience. RIP Howard Carter the person who found King Tut's Burial and Sarcophagi.

Monumental don't miss. The location itself is magnificent specialy before sunset. Three tombs included in the ticked price. (For Tutankhamen's tomb you pay extra but it is a small one and the artifacts have all been taken away to Cairo museum so it's not worth it). Bus train takes u from entrance to the tombs. If u have been in Egypt and not seen this then u haven't really visited. Best time to visit from November to early April because of the unbearable hot temperature later on. Keep in mind it is an open space nowhere to hide

  • 5/5 Makki A. 9 months ago on Google
Well maintained Definitely worth visiting as it shows how the pharaohs and kings used to plan for their deaths. Very hot in summer so make sure you stay dehydrated. Some of the graveyards seemed exceptional large and colourful. A lot of history (albeit much of which is not positive at all) can be witnessed here.

  • 5/5 Jamie W. 2 years ago on Google
Walking through the valley of the Kings and touring the ancient tombs is such a powerful experience, one you will never forget. The tombs are comprised of long tunnels down into the mountain with writing and pictures covering every square inch of the wall and ceiling space. The tunnel leads to the burial chamber, which in most cases has a high ceiling and a large Sarcophagus. We went early in the morning which was a smart move as the crowd became quite large by noon. There is an outdoor market that you can walk through that offers many types of souvenirs. Sellers are very pushy, forcing you to walk past them as opposed to stopping to look and buy. Fantastic experience seeing the tombs.

  • 4/5 Alfredo R. 2 years ago on Google
I enjoy very much, it is of course quite amazing seeing all these places that are still standing after so many years. The 4 stars are only for the prices of the extra tombs, are way too expensive, but all in all, you get what you are looking for, is a most do!

It was always a dream to visit this place and the opportunity arise I couldn’t say no. It’s a must if you ever go to Egypt. There are a couple of annoying people “surveying” the tombs to see if people are taking photos because apparently you have to pay an extra fee at the entrance to be able to take your camera with you, but even then it’s a bit annoying of them to always be asking if we are allowed. But pay it, because you will want to have those memories saved to later review.

I have always wanted to come to the valley of the kings. This is the place that the Egypt new kingdom pharaohs lay their bodies to rest in hidden tombs. Most famous one of course being king Tutankhamen. It is so fascinating how much work went into excavating the tombs and carving these intricate hieroglyphs thousands of years ago to prepare themselves for the afterlife.

This is an amazing look into the past. The tombs we entered were remarkable, and must be experienced in person as photos and video don't do it justice. Be sure to drink water and stay hydrated while visiting. They have a nice venue to buy cold water after visiting the tombs, which was very helpful as in the heat, the water we brought in was both nearly fine and no longer refreshing. It's well worth seeing.

The Valley of the Kings had been on my bucket list for a long time. The myth about the “Curse of the Pharaoh” and King Tut... I had previously watched documentaries on tv and saw several pictures in museums but nothing can be compared to what what experience when you visit making it a must see attraction. Walking in the Tombs is breathtaking of course!! Take care, take water, dress accordingly as it's hot, and stay away from guys offering their products or other unauthorised services 😁😁
