It is a beautiful beach where you can indulge in water sports like swimming and surfing. There are also schools here where you can learn water surfing.(you have to pay for it)

If you are interested in taking your first safe lesson, this is the best beach for you in the entire Sri Lanka. Weligama beach is an immaculate and lovely beach full of small baby waves. So many travellers and foreigners come here for surfing and because of these baby waves it's perfect for beginner surfers. There is a number of surfing schools in the area for very reasonable rates. So many beachside restaurants and bars are present in this area and the place is very calm and peaceful. This is one of the most common European and western tourist attractions.

Full of natural beauty, pleasant place to visit. But it has very less attention for environment careing by local authority. There are lot of surfing training and renting going along the beach targeting foreign tourists. If we keep pleasant environment around the beach ,there will be more tourists attraction building to the place. Please think about the income invest on environment. Please put proper dustbin system at least.

It's horrible beach. Sooo dirty! Sometimes something on the sea like a oil, and smell shity. Sri Lanka has amazing, beautiful beaches, don't waste your time with weligama.

Beautifully and strategically located at nearly dead centre of the bay, it is the perfect spot to surf and relax by the beach. The rooms are exquisite and modern with all the amenities you need to relax. Their food is quite decent as well and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I look forward to going back!

Very good for surfing but not suitable to swim/ relax in the sea I’d say. There is a lot of beginner surfers which don’t know how to stop or turn (including myself) which makes going in the sea very stressful as you’re always on the look out for surfers! Also it’s very wavy. If you’re going for surfing it’s a 10/10. If you’re going for anything else it’s not the right choice.

Specially in the morning and after the sunset this place is like a heaven.One of the best places I recommend to spend the leasure time and think back about the life. For the tourists this is a famous place for surfing. Overall Weligama is consider as a tourist destination in down-sounth.
